HTC Evo rooted via UnrEVOked 3
Using stock Rom Froyo 2.2
H-BOOT # 0.97.0000
radio # 2.15.00.09.01
Will using UnrEVOked forever to get Nand unlock wipe out everything ?
Is there a way not to loose data ? Or just a better way ?
I'm not so experienced with rooting ;-)

If you rooted with unrevoked 3 then there is no reason to run unrevoked forever. You are s-off I take it? If you are still s-on for some reason running unrevoked forever will not wipe your phone.
But will give me S-OFF ?

Yes, it will give you s-off.
Ty very much 4 your help
I appreciate it a lot ;-)
I just love XDA

I have the same evo got it like a week ago I used the hboot s-off guide under android development but only problem I had with that program was that I couldnt access recovery so then I used unrevoked to flash clockworkmod revovery do this at your own rish though I messed my first evo up by just using unrevoked camera wouldnt work im 14 I think you will be able to figure out how to use the hboot guide but when you flash a rom make sure its a 3.30.651.3 other wise you camera wont work im using OmegeEvo v1.1 by racism

Where do u get unrevoked 3 at? Do i get that from the market and will it brick my phone? Can i use any rin with it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
do not use unrevoked it will permanently curropt your radio. unrevokied 3 is now out of date, thanks to htc's latest security update. use an alternative method if you happen to have a mac, i have a very nice 2 or 3 command root kit for you... testers wanted
So u cant use unrevoked 3? I do not have a mac i have a pc. I really want root mine. Im coming from the hero

I did not have any problems rooting my EVO using Unrevoked3. I followed the simple instructions and the process was painless. Before getting my EVO, I rooted my Droid Incredible using Unrevoked3. As for it being outdated as stated by someone else, I'm unaware of it. Check out the second link above and read for yourself. Happy Thanksgiving.

unrevoked does not work on any 3.30 evo software because of the new hboot security. it will not gain root, just corrupt the radio.

Man i dont think i can root it via ADB. never done it before. There is no one click root method?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
i am trying to work out the bugs in a 3-command method... adb is not that hard to setup and use.
If u can do that 3 way command that would be easier.

I know its not that hard to use but typing all the commands is what ****s me over

How to remove stock apps ?
rooted HTC Evo with UnrEVOked 3 using stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I was told to try titanium backup app but that didn't work either
Root explorer also didn't do much .
Anyone know a way that really works ? I just can't stand those apps running in the background all day .
Sent From My HTC Evo 4G using XDA App.
Titanium Backup and Root Explorer should both work. If they arent, maybe you arent fully rooted. And FYI, the apps are not "running" in the background, just cached.
Good to know thx
So how do I turn fully rooted ?
Is this that Nand unlock ? That I keep reading in the forums ? I'm still new at this .
Thx for your help again

I need it to be on ? Or off ?
And if do what will I need to do to change it ?

The problem may be that the rom isn't rooted. I'm presuming that since you are "rooted" you have a custom recovery (clockworkmod/AmonRa). Try flashing a stock froyo rooted rom. I believe Sprint lovers will do the trick, though i've never flashed a stock rooted rom. it will give you root privileges sufficient enough to remove system apps
I'm using the stock Froyo 2.2 Rom

Will it wipe out my data ?

When you hit Volume Down and power and load into the bootloader (white screen, androids on skateboards on the bottom), does it say S-On or S-Off at the top?
Says s is on .
Is it unlocked ? If what's the best way to unlock it & how do I back up properly ?

Download unrevoked forever and flash that.

So you're not fully unlocked. Question, on the same screen what set of numbers appears after Hboot (because if you have a newer Hboot version your rooting process will be much more difficult)?
I'm gonna have to check that .
I rooted my phone with UnrEVOked 3 about 3 - 4weeks ago .
I will check it & post the numbers .
Thx again ;-)

Thats a good HBOOT. That is an ENG HBOOT. whatever you do, make sure you keep that. But, if you are S-ON, then you are not fully unlocked... even IF you are rooted. SO....
Install unrevoked FOREVER. Once you have that on there, you should be forever unlocked. There is Unrevoked, and there is Unrevoked Forever. The first one just gives you root once. The second one will unlock you forever. But you have to have root initially to do the second. Once you do the second, you can always re-root even when you lose root.
As for removals, the best app out there (IMO) is called System App Remover. But you need to be rooted first before you install and run it.
Will root via forever wipe out everything ?
Sent From My Rooted HTC Evo 4G using XDA App.
And what's the best way to unlock it ? Do I need to use UnrEVOked forever or I can do it another way ? And again will it wipe out everything ?

If you go to unrevoked website and choose the evo and then go into unrevoked forever and look for the link to the unrevoked-forever zip in the installation instructions, second thing it tells you need. Download and put on sd. Flash by going into recovery and flashing from sd card.
It wont wipe anything. It just turns s-off and unlocks the phone fully.
If your not sure how to flash from recovery or dont have a recovery yet hit me up.
I have a htc desire, rooted it, but I need a overclocking app, any ideas?

get unrevoked, RIGHT HERE then buy setCPU RIGHT HERE .... end of topic
I am finally ready to root. I want to root for one purpose only......wifi hotspot. I know it has risk, but I'm eligible for an upgrade so worst case scenario.....I'll upgrade. I really don't want to, though.
Soo......I really don't want to try this if the risk is too great for bricking. But if the risk is minimal, then could someone tell me the best step by step guide out there? I'm not that savvy but follow directions well.
I have the very first EVO 4g that came out on June 4, 2010. I have upgraded to 2.3.5 ota. Baseband version 2.15.00.12.19, kennel version 2.6.35.10
Build number 4.67.651.3 XL239674 with software number 4.67.651.3. PRI version 2.33_003, PRL version 60687
Imho its hard to brick your evo and if all you want to do is use it for tether I wouldnt bother with the s-off process untill u get more advance in rooting..here's an awesome guide by captian_throwback make sure u think him

Bricking is actually difficult to do unless your screwing around with your system lol. Its actually quite simple. After you root, you download a ROM(Its basically a UI and how the phone works) and then you Flash it(install it). Youl have a lot of terms to learn lol
I finally rooted mine today for the first time with 2.3.5 and h-boot 2.18 and I used HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader and I must say that it was a pain in the butt. I got it unlocked and tried using the PC36IMG.ZIP to install a Amon RA Recovery and it kept telling me that the main version is newer or something like that. I ended up having to use fastboot to flash the recovery image. Then after installing recovery I had to use the option in recovery to install superuser (really glad that was there)
Then after all that I found the thread using revolutionary plus to root h-boot 2.18 which I'm sure would have made it a lot easier.
I too just wanted root for one reason, to remove bloatware
I have a evo 4g 2.3.5 I wont to root to flash customs roms and thether and overclock can someone help me with the best method thr S-on S-off confuses me
