Hello guys... Could anyone please give me a link to download Htc desire hd unbranded stock rom for my DHD.. i have tmobile branded fone and its very slow.. and if you could tell me in a few steps how to flash it.. that will be really appreciated..
Slow DHD
xmoo has the stock ROMs here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357&highlight=stock+rom
I'm just reading about aswell but take a look at this 2 if you do flash it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889238&highlight=froyo+2.3+manual+update&page=2
- However, have you had it long? I found my T-Mob DHD lagged out at times when I first got it (on release), I took off a couple widgets that where updating/sync'n all the time off my desktop, I run like 3-4 now & its fine.
Also are you Rooted? You can Temproot with VisionARY, just restart to get OTA updates : ) To keep it running nice 'Cache Cleaner NG' is superb, runs on a schedule & Adfree will edit your host file with loopback entries for known AdSites (gets them out your free apps).
Appologies if this is old news m8 : ) It's just my DHD runs smooth & I'm still on 2.2, wondering if yours is either shipped 2.3 or recently updated and you want to revert back?..i'm just doing some reading myself atm 2.....
(I'm still on 2.2 because like an idiot I cant find the protected amazonmp3 app that I removed!! What a fool, no OTA for now! I've read up on re-installing and setting permissions with root explorer if I can get the stock app!! Might just flash to Stock OS myself if it proves easier!)
Hi,
I posted this yesterday, it summarises the processes you need to run through to unbrand your DHD and update to the latest HTC Firmware (Android 2.2.1).
You can find it --> HERE
A quick warning, the latest HTC Firmware will prevent you from rooting.

Hi Guys,
I recently rooted and put a custom froyo 2.2 rom onto my HTC Desire. In the process i must of lost the backup of the original rom that shipped with the phone. The phone was bought with Vodafone Ireland and the baseband is 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04 . Im not sure but the guide i used to update my phone advised updating the radio (which i think is the same as the baseband). What i want to do is to download an original 2.1 (or 2.2) Rom so i can update to froyo the offical way. Basically the rom i currently have is buggy and i wanted to upgrade/downgrade to 2.1. I dont know what i need to do with my radio version or what difference it makes.
So my questions are:
1. Can someone link me a place i can download original HTC Desire Rom 2.1 so i can restore my phone to normal and upgrade to 2.2 through offical OTA?
2. What difference does the radio make? Why do i need to update that when i install a rom?
Thanks
oh and also if i put the original rom on it does that undo the rooting? Basically i want a stable version of 2.2 that i will be able to recieve updates in the future through offical methods (OTA)
i need this too
Look in the development section, there you can find RUU's those are original roms.
If u get an original ruu and follow instructions to install Froyo will be available for its system update. This includes an updated radio.

Thanks, Does this get rid of rooting? and do i need to pick a RUU that has the same radio as mine?
this "Updates" your desire, making completely stock like, from what i know you have to choose what fits you phone, if it's Hboot .80 or that other one...
it will lock your recovery too...
hey sorry about all my noob questions but i tried the following page before
"HTC Desire > Desire Android Development > [ROM] Official HTC Desire RUU ROMS and OTA Update URL"
and any of the ones i tried dont seem to work. Is it someting to do with the fact that none of them are the same radio as mine?
Im guessing i should be trying the gsm ones. i tried to install some of the zips through rom manager from GSM HTC OTA Update URLs but they failed.
by "lock" do you mean that i will never be able to recover again and ya my hboot is .80
guys,
Can someone please help with this, im really stuck.
Thanks
Hi guys.
I am about to buy a HTC Desire tomorrow.
It is SOFTWARE-Branded to T-Mobile and has Android 2.1
But i dont want a T-Mobile Software-Branding and i want Android 2.2 (and 2.2 with all features ...) so i would like to flash to a Android 2.2 ROM where i dont have any branding and all features (Tethering ...)
So i guess i am searching for a way to make my Android 2.1 T-Mobile to a "rooted" Android 2.2 without branding and with all features.
How do i do this guys?
Im new to Flashing and ROMs and i never used Android before.
I hope u can help me until tomorrow
Greetings
erich

1) no you wont if you mean sense ui.. that just depends if you want a custom ROM.. just read to see if its a sense ui, or a non- sense ui ROM..
2) no need! just run a correct RUU file to unroot and get your warrenty back! and before rooting you will probobly do a nandroid back up, so all's good
OK THX guys!
Another important question:
What is a good Android 2.2 ROM?
I first root my Android 2.1 T-Mobile by using unrevoked3 for excample.
Then i Flash Android 2.2 Froyo Stock - and then i root it again?
Is that right? But which ROM do i take if i want Android 2.2 with all Features?
I dont want a special ROM, just Android 2.2, Radio, and able to install my own Apps
Can i use this one?

Or is it better do use a rooted-Stock-Froyo and use the Update-Packs for Undervolting, Newest Flash Player and Stuff?
XXX://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997&highlight=undervolt
Im thinking about The pre-rooted stock Froyo and use the Mods: PowerPack and FlashPlugin
Do what I did. Buy phone via contractor like mobile phones direct. I've ordered 600 min 500 txt and free internet but they gave me 900/500 and 1 gb of net that was capped. After I've received the phone I've emailed tmobile and said that mpd miss leaded me and I only have 1gb net of capped hsdpa but in t&c it says that it should be 3gb and complained about the speed. Next day they rang me and unlocked everything . And more importantly desire is unbranded so I had froyo update when it arrived.... Hope this helps.. Still have warranty and at the moment font need rooting

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unlocking a phone still doesn't make it unbranded, as it has the customized software. However, this could trigger the update notification, which then would start the update process for FW2.2.

Tmobile-Devices are unlocked but not rooted.
I want to root my device and then flash to Android 2.2 with all features and without Tmobile Software Branding
Go here:

Download this ROM:

Create a gold card, put it in the phone, make sure HTC Sync is connected and run that file - you're now on generic 2.2

Can i also use "unrevoked3" to root my branded Desire and then flash a custom / original ROM?
unrevoked3 seems so much easyer to me
Quote:
Does unrevoked3 give me root?
Yes. It previously did not; as of version 3.0, it does.
What does this do, then?
unrevoked3 will replace the stock Android recovery with a custom one, which adds many features including “nandroid” backups, the ability to use custom ROMs, and a greater amount of flexibility and customization of your Android phone.

Hi All,
long time reader, 1st time poster,
i have switched from the nexus to the desire, and i have seen lots and lots of diffrent roms for the desire, so i was wondering if i may ask your assistance in locating the best one?
which rom most people prefer ?
what advantages does X rom have over X rom ?
i currently have a desire running 2.2 froyo if there is anyone else switching which could suggest a good switch ?
Hi,
I'm fairly new to this whole rooting business myself and certainly not an expert on advising which is is the 'best'. A lot would depend on your needs and preferences. For my use, however, I found the ROM at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
to be very stable and to my liking. It is virtually the same as an OTA update of Froyo, except it is rooted and has some miner modifications.
Read a lot and try different Roms; I'm sure you'll find one to your liking and needs.
Hi Mag,
Thanks for your advice, it sounds like a nice easy starting mod,
btw how did you root the phone to start with ?
i have tried the current REVOked client but that seems to fail each time.
so i was debating sitting back and waiting for REVOkeds new 3.2.1 client to be released for download.
Here is what I did with my very limited knowlage about rooting:
1. I made my working sd card into a 'gold card'. Not sure if that was necessary or not, but it couldn't hurt.
2. I downgraded from OTA froyo to the 2.1 version.
3. Then rooted my phone using Unrevoked3.
After that I was able to update to any rom using clockworks recovery only.
Everything went very smoothly for me without any hickups.
You can find all the needed details about the individual procedures above, on this great site. Search and you will find .
Hope this is of some help.
Mag
PS.: Unrevoked at, http://unrevoked.com/#inc, is suposedly working on a new version that is able to root Froyo without having to dowgrade to 2.1 first.
Unrevoked's rooting solution is already out for the Desire FYI
Here is the link for it
http://unrevoked.com/
Be advised that they have removed the current version because it had some issues with the Evo 4G but the older 3.2 is still up and flawless for the Desire.
Unrevoked Desire
Sadly I had major driver issues with my current PC and couldnt root my phone as of yet.. but will do it in a couple of days when i get my new PC So I cant provide feedback as of yet... But the Wiki page of Unrevoked has pretty much everything covered up for you
Hope I helped a little
yeah the current version means you need to downgrade to 2.1. but id rather go straight into rooting, than mess about with downgrading 1st.
I bought my desire about 10 days ago, and I decided to root it. I followed some guide on the internet and used the unrevoked3 tool to root my desire. Perfect. Its now rooted and I now have root access on my Desire. Why did I root it? I just wanted to install the DSP manager App (installs surround effect on your phone). Installed it. Perfect. The phone has no problems at all and its fine. But I read on Engadget that Ginger bread (Android 2.3) is going to be released soon. I haven't installed anything else after rooting except for juice defender and the DSP manager app. Whats my problem? I need to unroot it. Simply because I need to be on the safe side, and to install any future OTA updates. Oh did I mention that I'm a complete n00b!
What do I need now? Your help. Please help me in getting my phone unrooted. I have a Desire A8181 with Android 2.2 in it (bought it with 2.2). Rooting was painless, but this unrooting seems like a pain ______. I seriously have no idea as to how to get it back to its original factory state. Any help would be much much appreciated! Thank you.
Not sure if these would help too -
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.15-gd96f2c0
Build Number - 2.13.707.1 CL33262 release-keys
Software Number - 2.13.707.1
I could help, but you'll learn more helping yourself: use search. (hint: ruu)

You got to be joking, you are gone unroot because you think you will receive gingerbread via OTA before there is a custom with Gingerbread?
If you really want Gingerbread stay rooted and wait for a stable rom, which will be released months before the OTA update (if we ever see Gingerbread officially on the Desire which i doubt).
If you answered yes on the first question, the post above has all the info you need.
Thanks Mr.Ghost, I decided I'll stay rooted for a while, like you said, I doubt if the desire will even get an update to Gingerbread (and incase it doesn't I might need to install some custom ROM with gingerbread for which I will require rooting again and I will need to search for the unrevoked3 setup again which is a boring process) It would be sad (and a shame on HTC's part) if the desire doesn't get an update (and the N1 gets it).
Thanks,
Imag xx
Hello there ,
Well, first I would like to thank the admins for this lovely forum it is really nice.
I am a new comer to the Android stuff since i was an advanced iPhone user (Jailbreaker) for over 2 years now, but i decided to move to the Android.
So i bought a new HTC Desure HD unbranded, the thing i updated it directly to 2.3.3 with software version 1.42.
I had tried to root it, read a lot of forums, watching vedioes ..etc so i managed to downgrade to 2.2 with 1.32 and root it, But it seems that my root was not permanent. because when i run the bootloader and install 2.2 again, after installation it tells that i am not a root when i open ROM Manager.
So and because i don't have much time at the moment to read more (Travailing soon), i decided to retore it to the factory defaults so i went to shipped ROM and download a stock one.
What happened is that the version i installed doesn't support Arabic (even it was when i bought it), so i discovered that i downloaded the wrong .exe, I downloaded the one with ARA in the description which i think it is the correct one , do it again but it gives me error with the connection.
The thing is I need your support to restore it to factory defaults along with the SD Memory so it doesn't show that it was rooted (or tried) because i noticed that some of the files and folders are there , just like 2.2 ROM , ROM Manager , su-xx-somthing.
Finlay, I would like to apologize for the long post but your support is really appreciated.
This is the Desire forum, not the Desire HD.
To find an answer I'll start in the DHD subforum.
