i'm using the standard rom
since i've installed launcher pro to get rid of motoblur's home, the screen doesn't lock screen anymore
it just turns off backlight, but any hw key awakes it and i find it unlocked
i already checked in settings and screen timeout is 30 and screen lock is enabled
That is not typical. Not sure what other settings to look at, but never known launcher pro to disable the lock screen.

Same here.
i've seen it happening from time to time
it seem that after the phone is on for a couple of days, the screen lock stops from kicking up after screen blank
if i reboot the phone it will work again
it never happened before, when i used the standard motoblur desktop
I've been having the same problem, as of a short while ago.
I notice that it happens when you manually lock (for me by pressing the Galaxy S power button) the phone while you're still in an application.
Every time it happens, I have to go and reenable the pattern lock.

Just installed Cyanogen 6.1.2 with the stock kernel (savage's wouldn't pass validation in recovery for...well idk why. In fact, if anyone knows what is causing this, help would be appreciated.)
This issue wasn't occurring earlier today (before I flashed Cyan), but now when the screen is off and I push the power button to bring up the lock screen, it will either:
A) Work just fine.
B) The buttons on the bottom will light up, and nothing will happen.
C) There will be about a 5 sec. delay, and then the lock screen will come up.
It's reeeeally bugging me, and ruining my cyanogen experience :/
Please and Thank you!
I have the same problem on 6.1.1. So far I have uninstalled widget locker, removed my custom brightness profile and I'm currently testing the unlock delay under cyanogenmod settings. It seems to happen less when I have the unlock timeout set to immediate. I'm curious if your screen slowly dims before turning off when you hit the power button, out if it turns off immediately like a sense rom?

Yes, mine has been slightly dimming everytime as well. I'm wondering how common this is.

Try and set your lock timeout delay to immediate and let me know if you see improvement. Also, if you haven't figured out yet, the touch screen still works and you can unlock by swyping where your slider would be.

That seems to have fixed it to a point. It's still kind of intermittent, but for the most part there is no more issue. The strange dimming still occurs when locking though.
Hi,
Is there a way to deactivate the fade out when pressing the lock key?
I want the display to be off immediately.
Thanks!
Try the app in the market called No Lock by BoD..? :/ see if you like it..
Sent from my HTC Vision
if your phone is running cynogen mod you should go and uncheck screen animations.
neither No Lock nor the deactivation of the animations doesn't work for me.
I'm running on CM7 and want the display to be off without fading to black when I press the lock key.
Thanks for reply.
so far,

If you turn the screen-off animation ON, and then go into Spare Parts and change window animations to OFF, screen off will be instant.
Don't ask me why, but it works.
Thanks. Works Fine. Can be closed

Yes, this works but it should be noted that it still causes the usual wake issues when overclocking
The fading is like that, you can't turn that off.. if there's no screen on/off animation.. you will have that little fade. But with no lock, it should be directly to homescreen without unlocking, kinda something you seem to want.. it doesn't have any effects..

It might be too simple but you can always push the power button and it'll turn the screen off immediately

Hello I am not sure at all what cause this problem but no matter what I do I cannot get my phone to have a lock screen. In fact I can't even to get it to slide in the beginning it just boots into my home screen and if I turn the screen on and off it goes straight back to the homescreen without me having to unlock anything. I've gone into the settings and made multiple types of passwords but none of them show up when I turn my screen on then off. I'm running paranoid android and any help would be nice

Did you try to set the lockscreen in the settings menu? there is an option there to disable it so maybe it got set somehow?
Hey guys, recently (today 1/28) i noticed my galaxy note 2 automatically bypasses the lock screen whenever the screen wakes up (so no ripple effects, and i have no lock or pin or pattern set, so just a swipe would work). So I tried setting up a pattern lock, and similar thing happens. The phone would wake up, go to home screen for a split second, then returns back to the lock screen with the pattern lock.
I was wondering, does anyone know whats wrong with this?
Extra information: I used to have GO launcher on it with their custom lock screen. However, I uninstalled everything already, so that shouldn't be a problem.

it's Go Locker... it's not the best lock screen replacement... you should turn off the go locker lock screen and turn on the stock one. Clear defaults on Go Locker and set it to just Go Launcher and enable the original lockscreen after disabling Go Locker

but I have already cleared w/e data that Go Locker has and then uninstalled it. So i doubt that Go locker is causing my lock screen bypassing problem, unless it was some sort of glitch from when i had it (i used it for 2 days)

I tried rebooting, removing battery, rebooting without SD card. So far nothing works. Odd thing is that, during the early part of reboot when the widgets are not fully loaded yet, this problem don't exist. But when the widgets are fully loaded, this problem returns
I am using stock and for like less than a half of a second that happens. Nothing u can really do with it.

Problem is completely solved now. Apparently, it is the result of a bug/glitch in a chinese music streaming app that I got from Google play. Also, thanks to everyone that replied to this.

I had the same problem, I had the "Lock instantly with power key" unchecked, however the phone still locks it right after I push the power key no matter how long I set the lock time. Then I found out that whenever I have the Kugou Music running, it does that. So as long as you quit the program when not listening music, you are fine.
And there's actually one setting on Kugou Music that override the lock screen.
Come one, come all. I would like for you to divulge the methods behind your lock screen. Do you use pin? pattern? or a simple swipe? Why have you selected this method?
If you do use a more "secure" pattern or pin, what are your settings? This to say, how long before the lock comes on and things of the like.
Throw in any other information you think might be pertinent to this discussion, such as third party locking apps that might be better.
As questions go in Q&A do not check yes this is a question for a POLL.
I have edited your title
Thanks

I recently started using a lock screen. Because I lost my last gs3 and it wasn't locked.. I now use the pattern. I have it set for the screen to go off 30 seconds after no activity.. I also use the app Delayed Lock to have the lock screen delayed for 10 minutes after the screen goes off.. And I have it disabled when it connects to my home wifi..
I also have my info on the lock screen in case I ever lose it again..
