Hey guys. I have a problem and not sure how to go about this. My Evo was at 2.2 rooted for a long while and all of a sudden it started acting up. It would always freeze and had to be rebooted constantly. So I had a back that I went back to successfully but it is at 2.1 now (Baseband 2.15.00.09.01)
Now I'm not getting the OTA update to 2.2. I go into HTC software update and it says no available updates for my phone.
So how do I get to 2.2 or 2.3 rooted?
FYI after going into bootlaoder and choosing Recovery, I get Clockworkmod Recovery. Is this normal?
You need to flash the stock rooted ROM for the latest OTA update. I would suggest trying out some different Roms, though. That's the best part of rooting.
And ClockworkMod is the most popular recovery for the Evo, so yeah that's probably right.

Sounds like the perfect time to throw CM7 on there and see what you think about AOSP Gingerbread.

It's pretty easy actually. Once you have root again (if you don't already), go to http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic and download either the newest nighly (30) or RC2 to your memory card.
Boot into Clockwork and go to backup and restore, and choose nandroid backup or backup (I'm not using clockwork, so I don't know the exact verbiage). Once the backup is complete, do a full system wipe by clicking on wipe data/factory reset.
Once that is done, choose install zip from sdcard, scroll down to cm_supersonic_full-30.zip and select it. It will install and then ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
Once your phone is up and running again, you'll want to get back into recovery so that you can flash GoogleApps, which you can find here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/.
You'll flash these just like you did CyanogenMod 7 a minute ago, although you will want to wipe your cache and dalvik cache (which is located under "advanced" in the Clockwork menu) first.
All you have to do then is boot back up, go through the walkthrough to set up your google account, and then you'll be running (close to) stock Gingerbread 2.3.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.
Awesome!!! Thanks blackroseMD1!! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight. I'm not rooted right now. The last time I rooted I used unrevoked because it was so easy. Would that be good enough to get the process rolling?

I'd actually use the link that CheesyNutz posted up there. Universal Auto Root works better than Unrevoked, from what I've heard.

Awesome! Glad to hear it man. Everyone should take an AOSP rom out for a spin at least once, and CM7 is the best one out there. If you have any questions about it, feel free to hit me up. Glad I could help.

Yea it looks great and loving the change so far
One last question. Is there a tethering app built into CM7 or do I need to get wireless tether from the marketplace?
Edit...Nevermind I think I found it right underneath bluetooth settings

Many recommend wiping data/factory reset (which I know was suggested and you've done), but also cache and dalvik BEFORE flashing any new ROM. Also, with CM, is it not suggested that you use Format_All?

I only started using Format All recently, and never had any trouble before that with just a factory reset. Different phones react differently though...

Your best bet is to use YouMail, which is free in the market. It's a lot like Sprint's Visual VoiceMail that you have on Sense roms, but with more features. I use it, and I love it.
Hey guys, I just installed the Destroyer Rom, however after downloading everything correctly it seems the rom is not reading my sd card (sd card damaged). I checked my card via computer, and it's fine. Is there something I'm doing wrong? HELP PLZ
I had this exact problem on salvage mod. Tried different kernel and seemed to fix. It was an asop 2.3.3.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So you used a different Kernel and it worked ?
Have you tried rebooting; it could just be a glitch [which happens time to time].
destroyer is waaaaaayy old. try end of days rom. it's the next update in the 'destroyer' series.
Yeah, especially if you're using destroyer v1. Either way, rebooting usually fixed that for me.
Hey guys thanks for all the suggestions, however I went with Eternal Prophecy rom. This rom is the best.
Sent from my bad ass HTC EVO using XDA Premium App
I'm gonna try the End of Days rom also just to give it a shot.

I even try to reload the fresh rom and others as well, but nothing. I can get into the recovery screen fine, but nothing wants to work once i install a rom and reboot. please help and thanks in advance.

Make sure you're using amon_ra recovery as clockwork doesn't play well with synergy. Also make sure to wipe everything 3x.

OK i installed amon_ra recivery and that worked fine. I also wipe everything 3x as you said; however, when i try to install the rom, it installs. When i reboot it, it will stay stuck on the splash screen.
If you're trying to install Synergy RC2 Godmode, you might want to try just regular Synergy RC2, the Godmode version has been hit and miss for a few people.
I haven't been following the Synergy thread for a few weeks, but last I DID read, didn't the Godmode version supposedly take like 45 mins to boot or something like that?

I would leave it for 20 min every time i try it. I also try different roms, and they still do the same thing and get lock on the splash screen.
My brother has a Evo also and his took 5 min to get out of the splash screen.

As for synergy and other 3.0 roms, it can go up to 8 minutes on the splash screen, due to the size of the rom and re-building the cache.

I really like sense so when i saw you posted a link to the ROM i jumped on it immediately, the ROM took a while to install but it finally did and then when i rebooted it sat at the "HTC Incredible" screen for what seemed like too long to me (3-5 min) so i pulled the battery and restored my nandroid. Out of curiosity, though, is it expected to take a long time at the splash screen or is that out of the ordinary? I really wanted to try this ROM but I've had poor luck with almost anything but CM (and Kangs thereof). I really appreciate you posting this link but do you have any insight into this situation? It's very possible that I am just too impatient but I have a fear of bricking that overshadows any desire for a new ROM.
I'm actually downloading it again to see if I have the same problem. I would let the rom sit for 10 minutes to see if it will boot. Roms usually boot for me in two minutes. From what I remember, Warm TwoPointThree actually sits at the initial boot screen or boot animation for about five minutes before it boots. I'll post back if I have the same problem.
Edit:
The rom booted for me after five minutes so if I were you, I would just let your phone sit. The rom takes awhile once it reaches the boot animation. Sense 3.5 isn't as fast as CM so be wary of that once you have the rom booted, but it is an overall nice rom. I prefer Sense to AOSP.
I like these ROMs also.... Thanks for the link

Hello!
Im wondering about JellyTime, Is it good or bad/very buggy?
Since im very intrested about it i want others opinion.
Also im new to this rooting and new ROM installs.
Thanks!
Well, it is a beta Rom, so it will have bugs. I use it as my main rom knowing it has some minor flaws. If you need a full running device you might want to read the thread a little before flashing this. Most of us flashing this are "Flashaholics" and don't mind flashing a new version everyday if needed. I'd say flash it to see what it's like, and then make your own decision. Only you will know if you like it. This goes for any Rom.

Ohhh okay ^^ is it possible to install the rom at the sametime as i root? sorreh im newb at this :3:highfive:
After you root, make a backup of your rom. Before flashing (download rom to sd card-remember where it was stored), reboot in recovery.
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe dalvik.
Format all partitions (except sd card).
Install from sd card.
Flash rom (search for the download)
Reboot.
The above is sorta the correct way of doing it afterwards. Most of us don't do it.
Wait 5-10 minutes.
Reboot.
Configure all you need to configure.
Install your apps.
Reboot.
If you want to know the issues of a rom, read the op(first page) and read the last 5-10 pages.
All ics - jb roms have bugs. Won't be long till they are fixed.
Gb roms are stable on the most part.
Search for 4ext touch recovery, it's the prefered one.

Alright buddy, last one. After this you nees to start reading and searching for your own answers. Almost anything you can think of has already been posted.
It's called gapps. It's a zip file with several google apps. Flash the same as when you flash a rom. No wipe necessary.

I did see a question asking about "best roms" am after an easy stable and fully working combination tho, would love jellybean and fully understand its still in beta. I think more noobs would attempt stuff if it wasnt so damn confusing with regards options and bolt ons.
Ive been Useing JellyTime since yesterday and i love it, the only complaint i have at this moment is that when i lock the screen and unlock it after more than 5 min it takes up to 5-10 seconds for it to start. Maby fixed in new Beta 10. ill try install it later today or tomorrow.

The Desire HD/Inspire 4G are virtually un-brickable as long as you are not ENG-OFF. Once you start flashing roms it all will become like second nature. Everything will start to get easier(more confidence comes too ) Just keep doing what you are doing (reading the threads). I wish some people did this more before posting.

This ROM is outstanding. I started with Beta 8 and it was great–at least for the first few days before Beta 9 came out. And now that Beta 10 is out, I'm going to flash that ASAP.
Then great thing about this ROM is that Randomblame just can't seem to give himself any downtime, although he does find time to spend with his family. As long as the ROM works and he isn't going crazy from it, that's alright with me.
