When I put apk on my SD card(root not in a folder). I have downloaded every apk installer on the market and none of them see it. I have even tried diferent apk's. Help!!
I have a check in unknown sources. This is driving me crazy!!
Just put the apk on the root of your SD card and download astro file manager. open up astro click on the apk and then click on app installer. if you have already done this then i am not sure. you do however have to be rooted.
I did do the unrevoked root this morning and have super user. But still cannot see any apk's on the SD card. It's making me crazy like I said.

You can't put the APK's on your SD card?
You have enabled debugging mode and hooked your USB cable up to your computer right? Then in the drop down notification press on charge only and then select disk drive and hit okay. On your computer a new drive will show up where you put the APK's (this is your SD card) or if you want you can just get the microsd card adapter thingy (sorry forgot what its called and dont feel like looking for mine)
yeppers did all that. More than once. Not too much of a noobie. Had a rooted Eris before I got my DInc. That is why I can't figure it out. Must be rooted because am using apps that are for only rooted phones.
You're not putting it into internal storage and not the SD card by chance are you?
Sent from my new girlfriend, according to my current girlfriend.
internal storage wouldn't show up on the puter would it. Ok going to look again and see if I can figure this out. Maybe easier after good night sleep.
ok now two minutes later!! Yes! I never noticed more than one drive! You rock! It worked! Merry Christmas to me!! LOL!!!!!
Awesome, glad to help! I had done the same thing before, until I realized this was what I was doing. Merry Christmas!

Ok, I am actually having two problems.
1) Normally when I plug my phone in the computer and choose "disk drive" mode, a screen pops up on my PC titled "Removable Disk (J)" That's actually not the right one because right behind that screen I get another pop-up titled "Removable Disk (K)" and that's actually the one with the folders and everything that I'm supposed to use (the root of the sd card folder.) So I hit cancel on (J) and am on my way using (K).
Well over the weekend, on Friday, I rooted my phone using toast's way and then I went camping without doing ANYTHING else.
Then I come back last night, everything is working fine and I installed ROM Manager on there because I wanted to flash Pete's "BuglessBeast". Since my internet connection in my basement is super slow I decided to just leave it at that and work on it at work today. Well here I am.
Problem: Phone was not connecting to computer. It kept giving me errors and then asked me to Format my card. After about half hour of trying to get it to connect I said "fine.. I'll just format it and factory reset my phone and root all over again and do all this. Well now.. phone is only connecting to (J) drive. (K) never appears.
2) Also, after rooting and finding out that ROM Manager won't work for me I have to manually download the file, I tried to go into recovery mode and every time I selected "sd card: apply update.zip", I keep getting the same error saying "FILE NOT FOUND ON SD CARD".
Any help please?
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a way to start over, all over again?
With the problem running (where you can see both disks), right click on "My Computer" and select "manage", then go to "Disk Management" and see if your SD card is partitioned or something. That's very unusual and should only present itself if your SD card is partitioned and it's seeing both partitions.

development is not for posting questions, q and a is for posting questions (hence the name)
you probably built an ext container before (partitioned the card, using one of the recoveries). if you partition the card, they will come up as two disks when you plug the usb in. when you 'repaired' it, it formatted the whole thing into one block. by formatting, you've erased anything you had on it. you'll have to put the files you want back on the card.

ive seen quite a few windows users on here name their file update.zip but have hidden file extensions turned on so in reality the name is update.zip.zip which will not work.
if thats not the issue, something sounds very wrong with your microsd card.
not sure why you had two partitions, J and K, but seems to hint at app2sd or had two partitions setup on the microsd card ...
my friend had one go bad on him yesterday, i had never seen it before but perhaps there is something defective.
otherwise, a reformat of the card, should bring it back to new.

Thanks joey.
I updated to unrevoked 3 yesterday and found this LazyList folder on my sd card after. Is it needed for anything or can I get rid of it?
Thanks in advance.

I was told its created by apps such as ApPlanet , and Launch Pro
Probably several more apps use it.
LazyList is a method used often in Java programming to build an array, or list, of objects to be traversed by an application.
Google would be your friend in looking further into the LazyList construct.
The apps likely create a LazyList folder on the SD card and use it as temp storage for creating/using lazy lists.
You can blow the folder away, but it will be created again when an app creates a lazy list.
Its all explained on this blog, im not gona retype it though.

my phone reads my card as two different cards. i had to move all the files from tunnybrowser over to the other card before the saved bookmarks could be found.
That's exactly what i found out after i was like .. hmm let me plug in the phone real quick.. Lol, Since the software isn't optimized to work like this, it will read the primary Sdcard.. which is basically the Internalone(non remobeable sdcard) instead of the one you have inserted, so if they update the software, they have to have an option as of where it should be saved, either "mnt/sdcard" (Internal)
or "mnt/sdcard/external_d/ " (External*)..
I feel sad that it is like this, and you can't choose which one is the one you want the phone and apps to read first , but other than that, after moving files and folders here and there, this phone is the ****!
I am running FrostyJB_4.1.1-v6 on my Tmobile SGS3 and from one day to the next all my photo's in the Camera folder are gone. I didn't delete them and nobody has access to my phone. Any idea what happen or how I can get my photo's back?
Thanks!
You have to get recovery software. I've had it happen to me once too on an earlier version of that ROM. It overwrote my dcim folder on my SD card.
Thanks psykhotic, I will try that when I get home. I will do the research but am assuming this software will be ran from my PC. This has me really stressed out, I hope am able to revoer the files.
As long as you dont write anything new to the card, you should be able to get at least some of your data back. Ive heard of people generally having good luck restoring deleted files from flash media.
No idea why it wouldve done that in the first place though. Id re-download and reflash the rom though.

So far I have tried one app called Undelete (for root users) and it found some video files that I deleted a few days ago but it didn’t find any images from the external/DCIM/Camera folder.
As far as re-writing I accidently did, I didn't notice the pictures were gone until this morning when I snapped a few and notice those new pictures were the only ones in the director/gallery. I haven’t done anything since then.
I been using the ROM for about 4 days and I had taken lots of pics since then and I had ported the old ones before the new ROM. I can re-flash it but am starting to think my SD card might be going bad. The only thing I have changed was upgrading to a new SD, the new SD has given me a failure once saying the card had been ejected (it wasn’t) I had to open my phone and re-insert. But it only gave me the error once. Then again what are the odds that one folder is being affected by the SD card...
Thanks for your replies.
Yea run it from the PC. I had to remove the SD card and plug it into my desktop. It took awhile to do a FULL scan but I got everything back.
It's running on my PC now and I can see it's working!!!!!!
TestDisk is amazing and seems to be finding a lot more that I imagined.

Thank you guys so much for your help
Quick question regarding the possibility of recovering deleted files...
Had a picture on my SD card gallery(where all my pictures are stored) that I wanted to delete, and I decided it would be brilliant to click and hold and delete the "one" picture, when in fact, I decided to delete the entire gallery, some 300+ pictures.
I've been through countless desktop recovery tools, nothing works as it can't "find" the phone, I've tried Dumpster and Undelete 2.0, neither of which worked on my SD card. I took the SD card out of the phone as soon as I realized what had happened, so I haven't done anything that would overwrite them..yet. When viewing the SD card through Windows Explorer, it still shows something like 450MB out of 9GB free, so that makes me believe they are still there, I just can't figure out how to get to them.
Is there ANY way that I can get these files back? I have Wicked_v10 as my ROM.
Please let me know either way so that I can either end this torture, or get the pictures back.
Thank you.
There is a root app called undelete. Not sure if it needs to already be on your phone before you deleted the file. But it may be handy next time

Than you for the suggestion, I will be sure to have a few extra apps next time. I already tried Undelete, but it scanned and then froze the app/phone, so I'm not sure that's an option.
