What is O2 Active?

I've read about getting rid of 'O2 Active' in the posts but could not find out what it means.
I'm facing problems with 'Today Plugs-in' with my Singapore O2 IIs, even when upgraded to 1.40 rom and radio 1.13. Could it be due to this 'O2 Active' thing?
Even read about not installing the 'O2 crap' by keying in 0506 to get Corporate mode but my O2 doesn't seems to have this corporate mode thing. Read from a post saying to press 'soft reset' when the small warning screen appears and did that. Ended up without a Ext rom but manage to install cabs found from the wiki site where these cabs are found. Anyway, my 'Today Plugs-in' problem still exists.
Anyone can give me some pointers?

its a big lump of **** that o2 call there active interface, but it isnt stable enough to run on a nokia, let alone a BA. o2 should learn to test ther o2 craptive before installing on machines they are selling. id advise anyone woth it installed, to uninstall it and make ur devise o2 ****e free.

The O2 Active screen, disliked by many on the older machines now has some enhancements which might make it more acceptable.
• O2 Hotspot locator
• View Orientation Switcher
• Power Save
• Profile
• WiFi and Bluetooth on/off
• Bluetooth Manager
Unfortunately, the O2 Active screen handles Today Plug-ins very poorly. Kitara Genesis won't display at all, and others are severely truncated at the Right Hand margin. This makes the usefulness of O2 Active much reduced, and O2 would do well to include some method of configuring its screen to remove items it can't display.
Another example of poor programming is that the installation of the O2 customisations removes the Time display from the Title Bar. This must be counted as a major error, as it needs a Registry editor to resolve, not to be undertaken lightly even by the experienced!

My IIs unit very nearly got binned because of the Active interface, I agree with joey jojo's sentiments on this one - turns a decent PDA based phone into a pile of useless junk.
Unfortunatly to get rid of it (if in fact you have it installed) required a hard reset of the device, so doing this will wipe out all your data stored on the unit, a back up is no use either as that puts the rubish back on the device this makes the unit even more useless, as parts of the Active are missing causing it to crash even more often, (trust me on this one - I tried and learn't the hard way :wink: )
Hard reset the device, then sit through while the unit re-boots, after a while you will get the choice of personal or corporate install, choose the later, and enter the code 0506, note you must sit with the unit while it does this, it only gives you a few seconds choice, if nothing is entered it loads the O2 crap on the device by default - Mike

I see that the intentions for O2 Active was good bad it seemed to make it worst than better.
Lucky or not, here in Singapore, the O2 IIs that I am using, doesn't come with O2 Active. My personal experience is that the poor memory management of 2003 SE could be the culprit to all this problem. My conclusion is not to install Microsoft Voice Command (takes up a lot of memory) and have only 1 or at most 2 Today Plug-ins.

I have problems with your ROM.
The thing is: When i start it (clean after installation), it reacts kinda slow.
Means: It takes a lot of time to get to the today screen and then, it just does not react.
The configuration is exactly the same as yours, so i wonder why.
Perhaps you know why, or maybe not ...

besides sounds very good, will test it the weekend if theres landscape as i'm uisng it very regulary

I use the english keyboard with Landscape fix and the german language (Portrait package). If you use the english layout everything is fine in landscape mod.

The difference between these two rom is that one is with TF3D (Manila HD) and the other has TF3D not included. Its for those people who use SPB Mobile Shell or so...

i found one problem with sound management. i can't change the volume for my music player whether for wmp nor for tf player. it's a little bit too laud for me
another problem is that i can't select any presents at audio equilaizer. has anyone else the same problems??

Installed your ROM, looks nice, feels nice until now. Only problem for me is, that the Phonepad is not installed. I use this regulary for typing sms with one hand. Is there a cab for reinstall this?

The problem is that i have integrated WOW HD Sounds Settings and this is why the problem with TF3D exists. But i will fix it in my next version..

I have another little problem. Normaly, after installing a new german rom, the provider settings were installed automatically. With this rom i have to do it by myself. I use O2-Germany. I installed it by hand but like to tell you this. Maybe you put this function in your next version.
Big problem for me: Battery usage seems to be very high. I can watch the numbers and the percentvalue is going down and down. After using the diamond for about 2 hours battery stands at 73%. While writing this reply 3% battery usage. My radio version is 1.09.25.23. 3G is off, WLAN off, Bluetooth off, Pushmail on.
I like the rom, it seems to be fast enough for me. I will try it the next days and send comments if i recog. bugs.

So i thought it was time to give a little bit back, and I started to develope an application to look up Train connections. I am starting with the "Deutsche Bahn" and connected companies, but I am willed to expand the tool to other Companies / Countries if someone might give me a hint what service the other Companies use.

i would love to beta test your app as well...and maybe would be good to expand on germanys closest neighbours like france, poland, belgium, holland , as i travel from time to time in europe by train, i know how good to have an up to date info especialy if you do not speak much of an local language
in uk we have few nice apps which pulls data from rail network but they are not great in being finger friendly...

there is a java application called DB Railnavigator (mobile.bahn.de).
I tried to use it on my HD2. It was working,
but it was almost unusable due to its crappy interface .
I would be very happy if you could develop something better than
that, maybe with a cache to be able to use it offline for connections
which have been already retrieved.
(I travel a lot by bus and train and would like to do beta testing )

Hi, that is the Same Engine as the German Bahn uses.
I still search Beta Testers, and I will send first beta sources soon!
I have been able to extract the Ajax API of the Bahn now, and their, a little weird system
It is still a long way to go before this gets really good, and a lot of errors are not handled so far.

What is Picture Manager?
Some manufactures like HTC and Sony (probably some more) save pictures taken with an incremented number in the filename, instead with a timestamp like other manufactures do.
When you factory reset your device, buy a new device or clean flash a custom rom, the camera picture counter gets reset and starts with e.g. IMAG_00001 again.
This can be an issue once you backup your files to a harddrive on your PC, because you will have duplicate filenames, although the pictures are actually different.
Picture Manager solves this problem by renaming your taken pictures with a timestamp format that you can select or even define yourself.
You can either start a batch process before you backup your pictures to your HDD, or automatically let Picture Manager rename your files in the background.
Another nice feature Picture Manager offers is that you can let it organize your taken pictures into folders that are named by the year, month and even day.
That will help you to quickly find your pictures again and brings some organization into you pictures.
Requirements
You have to be on at least Android 5.0 Lollipop
How does it work
Picture Manager relies on the EXIF Metadata that is stored into each picture. The EXIF Metadata contains a lot of information, the one Picture Manager needs is the date the picture was taken.
With that information Picture Manager can reliably rename and organize your pictures.
Tasker Plugin
Picture Manager comes with a Tasker Action Plugin. That means that you can start a batch process on different events, like time, when usb gets connected etc.
Premium features
If you want to use the custom format, background service or the Tasker plugin you need to upgrade to the premium version.
To upgrade you can use an in app purchase. Or you paypal me and I mail you a premium code. That way google doesn't get 30% of the income.

So I installed this to give it a whirl, yet everytime I try ans setup the app, whenever I press the folder icon to set a folder, the app presents me with the message :'No apps can perform this action'
I don't have tasker installed and don't want to install tasker.
Why can't I choose an app to perform the picking action in the app?
Also, the background renaming service doesn't work for me, neither does the organising feature.
Using premium btw.
Solved above no apps issue by unfreezing folder app from htc

If you run the batch process manually, does it work?
Are you running it on an internal or external sdcard?
Organizing to folders does not work currently on external sdcard.
Trying to find a solution atm, write access to external sdcard got very limited on Android unfortunately.
Got a workaround already nearly done though.
If you are not happy with the app, let me know. WIll refund then.

That won't work unfurtunately. Better use adb.
adb logcat > log.txt
take some pictures,
stop the log with ctrl+c
then upload.
