The best music app? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I'm looking for the best music app in terms of functions, GUI, and lock screen support for ASOP.
So far, I think winamp is good but its gui is ugly as hell.
Miui is beautiful but laggy and no lock screen support and no eq.
Poweramp is a memory hog.
What's your cent?
Sent from my GT-I9000

I've tried Mixzing, Power amp, Miui, Lithium & a few othes, while they are good music apps none of them was what I was really looking for.
So for me it's 3 cubed, superb UI, album art grabber, lockscreen & the lack of an eq doesn't matter as the SGS sounds great with mixget and quality set of headphones.

Yeah, MIUI is beautiful but... no lockscreen...
I use : http://www.appbrain.com/app/music-mod-(froyo-only)/com.piratemedia.musicmod
Lockscreen : http://www.appbrain.com/app/music-mod-lock-screen/com.omeudroid.musicmodlockscreen

winamp is okay.

PowerAmp is the one, works perfectly on SGS, amazing UI, album art grabber, plus a very well done equalizer.
I never had any problems with it being a memory hog.

I will try the PowerAmp. Now I use 3D Cube, but there´s no equalizer. On some tracks i´ll miss it.

Second this!

Poweramp + sgs = love.

Poweramp <3

hmm i wonder why the SGS stock player ain't getting any love here... Imo its the best music player out there made for andriod. Wide codec support, excellent hardware eq with optional sound enhancements, colourful UI and fantastic yet simple lock screen controls. Perhaps I think performance and compatability issues in the earlier firmwares + the bad reputation of touchwiz might be the reason why its not well recieved but I feel that the player has improved in terms of performance and stabilty to very usable levels in the recent firmwares(esp the 2.2.1 firmwares). Thus for me personally the SGS music player is a winner in most if not all aspects and will be my sole music player app for some time to come...

Agreed. Stock player is great. The lock screen controls are only available if you use the stock glass lockscreen so some people wont get them.
I like using it with the "wide" effect.

Stock SGS Music Player is very decent.

Stock Music player is great but in my opinion poweramp is better mainly because you can select the music folder

Sgs music player has music folder selection. Look in options. I wish it had album cover search and aosp lock screen
Sent from my GT-I9000

Dunno your's but in mine options there are "equalization, effects, music menu, visaulization" and nothing else

SGS Stock Music Player
I second MiG123....I have tried nearly all music players available in the market for SGS, but end up reverting to stock music player. However I recently used ipod's headphones and wao...huge a difference in the sound quality. The standard head phones with SGS are crap...try the ipod ones and you will hear the difference. I also used Audioboost2 etc.

MixZing Pro version. Hands down.

Like the stock one but bothers me alot that with the phones it only allow you to pause the music, not going to the next or the previous like in btunes.

Best choice for sound quality ......it remenbers the equaliser settings for a song or album. and with my transparant skin the widget looks great too
I use this player 8 hours a day with my sennheiser PX 210 BT

Imma let you finish, but I've still gotta say that PowerAMP is definitely the most kickass player of all time... of all time!

[Question] Which is the best music player

I have installed barebones latest rom. So now I have to find a good music player. Whats your suggestion?
I like winamp but i dont think that makes it the best Doubletwist is also worth a look.
The stock player is a pretty fine choice too.
I use Fede's player, maybe it's not the best yet, but I like it very much.
i personally like playerpro the best, but mixzing is also quite good
If gapless payback is important to you, poweramp is your only choice, no other app does it properly with mp3's. I am not a great fan of the layout though, I prefer mixzing's navigation but I listen to a lot if djmixes, live sets etc...
I second PowerAmp - plays everything, and the equaliser is great...
power AMP, Winamp, Google new Android Player <- Really good
+1 to PowerAmp. Great equalizer, gapless, fade options, great music control options with original headphones.
My choice is PlayerPro, I think it has the best interface. There's a trial version on the Android Market, give it a try!
I use songbird, nothing fancy but I just like intetface.

Happy user of PowerAmp, never used any other third party players so as the stock player.
Power Amp hands down. I tested a couple of music players from the market. Fede's Player is nice. ( Metro/zune UI) < will try it again when it's finished.
As for the PowerAmp< it's worth the $, buy it.
If you are running your own server, have a look at Subsonic
Usually I don't listen music on the phone, but I tested MortPlayer and default player.
Both seem ok, but MortPlayer is better, even in beta version.
new music player on gingerbread....think its google default player for 2.3.3 ...its really neat and nice..

[Q] What is your favorite music player?

I'm using Poweramp and it's the best one.

I'm torn at the moment. At first I really liked Poweramp, mostly because the ability the boost the preamp helped with the low volume problems I was having when listening to it in my car. However, after purchasing Volume+ I found that I no longer need that boost.
Zimly by far has my favorite UI, but I've been getting a lot of crashes on it. I'm also considering bTunes, as the part I miss the most about my iPhone is the media player. I'd be curious to hear if anyone considers that a favorite
I also love Poweramp really much.
Bought it.
It plays my music collection at home, has a great equalizer, and now even supports Beats audio - whaddya want more?
Lol, it supports now beats?!?!?! I used to have it, but then I removed just because of the beats. Stock is good, though.
I use winamp because I'm old school I can't say it's especially different to any of the other players I've used but I stick with it anyway.
For audiobooks I use Mort Player Audiobook, now that is a very impressive app! Pity it looks so ugly but I'm sure it will improve.
I've been using PlayerPro for a while now and really like it.
I have been using Winamp since its release. So far it is a good and simple player. Besides I'm using the desktop Winamp player, which enables me to sync my music via the app wireless.
PlayerPro, because I can browse my music by folders.
I've been using Poweramp for a while and I love it! Its flawless!
Google Music. And I also using unlimited data plan
I'm using stock music app, it's good enough for me

I can't get it to download album artwork, even though the stock music app has done this and it shows in the stock app... Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong with Power amp?
Stock Player and Google Musik is good for me
Stock HTC Music player, because it is the only player that support special audio effect
I don't listen to music so much on the phone. (All the time on the PC!)
However, there are a few listed media apps here in case it helps anyone.

Im using the HTC Player too. But thers one thing, I'm not happy about. Where is the "Coverflow". It was included in older Version. Is this function deleted or am I stupid?
For me, the best one is 3 (Cube):

PlayerPro

stock sense 3.0 music player for me. every music player ive used had a problem for me; always automatically playing, skipping, and pausing, when a headphone is jacked in. i uninstalled all other music apps. i only have stock player now. stock palyer aint so bad, the quality of the sound is almost the same as from other music apps.

Neutron Music Player

Anyone tried this music player?
SQ from this player is just amazing! No other player i have tried sounds better than this including Poweramp. I haven't been able to stop listening to music all day since i got this.
Ill admit the UI needs some work but for SQ it blows any other music player out there
Grab it from the play store load some Flac tracks and just be amazed!

The UI is just too ugly for me to use
using the eq on poweramp i've never found anything better sounding including nutron, it's ugly too, but it does have potential. it may also depend of the genre of music you mostly listen too.
UI is pretty ugly but functionality is decent

I gotta be honest, the audio quality is good but I must have bad hearing or something as I couldn't get the EQ to make any noticiable change in anything, almost seems broken to me. The UI looks too professional IMO too. I want a player that looks like Google music but sounds better

Power Amp still best sound on a Music Player?

Man, there are tons of them now.
Bells and whistles are secondary...I need good depth of sound. Power Amp always held that crown for me.
Short of using them all, anyone have any candidates that rival that app?
PowerAMP for me too..

no, neutron player is muuch better :fingers-crossed:
Music Folder Player, in addition to forward it also has backward track, and excellent sound quality.

(Sadly) it´s still poweramp for me. "Sadly" just because I don´t like the interface very much. Has anybody seen the "Walkman" app around here? The one that comes with the AC!D package? THAT is a nice looking piece of musicsoftware (at least for me!) But it doesn´t matter as it is not near the sond quality of powerAmp AND (much more important) WALKMAN has no option for genre-sorting!!!
I always feel to try Songbird again, as it really looks nice and sleak...but I always find myself deinstalling it again because it´s still just too laggy.
So soundwise it´s still PowerAmp. When it comes to simplicity and look --> Walkman app!
yes I agree w/Power Amps interface. Incredibly counterintuitive.
But it speaks to the sound of the app cause I'm more than willing to put up with it.

Exactly, and furthermore pretty much unpractical for one handed usage. I don´t know why there are still no themes out there for poweramp...I think when the developer would open up the skinning possibility to the users, there would be a hell more to squeeze out of that app^^
Always have been a Power Amp user but recently have been using n7player.... So far so good, love how it looks more than anything.
Trial version available and full version on sale at the moment!!!

I'm a Power Amp user. Agreed on the interface, its nice enough looking but a bit counter intuitive.
Now this N7player - very good except for one thing. It doesn't do gapless playback (like the default player and many android players seemingly, unforgivable in 2012), until it does, it's a deal breaker Unless I've missed something?
Gold Standard
Its difficult to argue that PowerAMP is not the best and baddest sound on the market. With 3 years running, no one has really held a candle to PowerAMP.
However, I really value the sound quality of Rocket Music Player Premium. It has a great looking interface and sounds as good as PowerAMP IMO.
Bells and whistles are always nice and PowerAMP has plenty of them but I really value the supported audio formats.
RMP Premium also supports media formats outside of the Android supported formats.
PowerAMP is definitely still the "Gold Standard" but there are many players that are comparable. At the end of the day you have to go with works best for your setup - for me it is RMP Premium.
Take it easy.
What I really miss on MOST of the players is a good and customizable tree structure (accessibility) of my music. I always start my "music-adventure" with the genre tree - and the following should just work like I am used to it from my PC (on every software I´ve ever used):
Genre --> Artist --> Albums --> Songlist
Click to collapse
It´s that easy!
But what is it that I have to find on MOST players?
Genre --> Albums --> Songlist. ...or worse ...Genre --> Songlist
Click to collapse
Now imagine the chaos that I always feel confronted with when some (a lot) of my beloved artists produced a LOT of albums (scrolling ´till tomorrow). I just can´t understand that this is not a standard anymore (at least an OPTION so that people who don´t care are allowed to customize it).
PlayerPro is in someway better than poweramp, as it allows you to customize the tree a bit more. However, the interface looks kind of ugly to me.
So for me as a music-loving guy it is still a very sad situation on the android market.
Just discovered ttpod. Seriously nice UI with lyrics and for some reason actually sounds better than power amp for me, but in don't do any customization of the equalizer settings in both. But yeah the theme and the awesome sound out if the box, and the fact that it is FREE just makes it flawless.
You guys should try it out. It's available in English too, if you guys are wondering.

Best music app for FLAC over BT that can shuffle albums?

I'm looking for something that shuffles by albums and preferably has a 5x1 widget for 7.1.1.
I have been out of the loop for music players for quite some time and I have been using Rocket Player for the last 4 years. I am looking to upgrade to something that might be a bit better.
Apps I've checked out:
Player Pro
Rocket Player
PowerAmp
I've been a huge fan of GoneMAD music player. It plays flac, shuffles (not sure if by album), and has a 4x1 widget. It is paid but there's a trial version you can try.

Yeah I've been liking Shuttle++ quite a bit although I would like if they changed the pixelated looking status bar icon and made the play controls for the notification nicer like Sony music. The widget options are the most extensive I've found though. Artist artwork came through much easier than Sony Music too.

The other thing Black Player EX does that I like is editing is really user friendly. some of my MP3s don't have the artists name show up and I can make that happen with Black Player EX. Player Pro allows that as well but not as user friendly.
You might ask the guys over in the billion post Android DAC thread at Head-Fi.
If anyone knows a good player, I'm sure it's them.
http://www.head-fi.org/t/595071/android-phones-and-usb-dacs/5010
edit: wow, 8639 posts as of today. Not quite a billion but it'll get there someday.
After reading this yesterday, I did a little comparison last night. Used Freebird for guitar run, Stevie Nicks for voice, and full song of Jessica by the Brothers. Compared paid versions of Poweramp, Black player EX, and Player pro with DSP pack. They are so similar it's hard to pick except Poweramp has the least distortion at high pre-amp settings on high frequency sounds. So below is my ranking (just my personal opinion):
1. Poweramp
2. Blackplayer EX
3. Player Pro with DSP pack
