has anyone been able to successfully put in a seidio or sprint extended battery and rig it like others have done with the seidio rugged?
yes, I posted in the other thread...
with some extreme trimming (dremel, 80 grit wheel) to the the inside of the case, and a little (very, very little) trimming to the plastic surrounding the actual battery itself, I have been able to fit the sprint 2600 battery in my ballistic HC case
I'm in the process of trimming the plastic case myself and everyone should know it is very difficult to do. The only reason I'm attempting this is because its so hard to reopen the case and change out standard batteries. They should have designed this feature into the ballistic and put a spacer for those who want a standard battery, it really wouldn't have made that much difference in size.

your going to need to actually shave some of the corner's of the batt as well... there is a strange pressure point in the case that presses on the top corners of the batt (by the camera) wont let the speaker work for some reason...
the trimming you've gotta do is pretty intense, I had the best luck using an 80 grit sanding wheel attached to a dremel
p.s. obviously you cant use the rear battery cover
if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm

yeah dmc... any chance we can see some pictures of the grinding you had to do? kinda like a road map.
and were u able to close shut the case? or did u have to use the silicone skin to wrap it around shut?
because i was thinking of using a 1750 mah battery but since im using ms's kernel for trickle charging i would be able to charge my extended with no need to put it on an external charger... so it would be perfect for me.... also is the sprint battery smaller than the seidio??? i only have seidio batteries.

ill try to get around to taking some pictures up tomorrow
1: the hardcase shuts all the way
2: the 1750 should fit just like the regular factory batt without any trimming at all
3: yes the sprint 2600 is slightly smaller than the Seidio 3500, im not sure if the 3500 would fit to be honest

oh man if the hard case shuts all the way with the sprint 2600 battery then for sure im going to be picking up a dremel and working on this mod over the xmas weekend! id rather have the 2600 than the 1750.
i can always sell my seidio 3500 batteries... i have 2 of them -_-
whenever u can take pics its ok... no rush. i just dont want to ruin a 40 dollar case for nothing
sorry for the delay guys... but here are a few pics I snapped real quick, you can see how much really had to be trimmed from the interior of the case and what I meant by shaving the battery (doing that to the batt was the only way to get the speaker working correctly and I have yet to see any adverse effect on battery life)

nice and the buttons are aligned perfectly? no issues with the buttons (power and volume)
im starting this tomorrow!
its weird how u mention that the speaker didnt work.... the battery doesnt have to do anything with the speaker!
and pressure points from the case wont affect the speakers directly either... hmmm
My ballistic is now converted to use the 2600 battery. I wish I would have considered shaving the battery when I originally did it because the material by the kickstand is a little too thin on mine. Also someone asked about using the 3500 battery for this and I wouldn't recommend it, at least not with the Seidio. Thanks again to dmc971989 to let us know it was possible.

I know... but trust me, its that top angle of the battery.
theres some strange pressure point right there that messes with the speaker, its not just a clean on an off deal either... the more pressure applied, the worse the speaker sounds until it doesnt work at all

So after an hour of grinding and sanding down I have finished and might I say that it does require a massive amount of grinding but I am happy with the results! Kudos to DMC!!!

I just ordered one. 50 bucks is kinda pricey but I don't want to end up with my phone broken because I have no insurance.
Better order one quick before they run out!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Just ordered mine. Was really bummed about not being able to get the Defender but loving the 3500 battery. Funny how they wait till Otterbox releases the Defender to finally release their rugged add on. Can't get me to believe that they just finished design & production, the phone has been our since June.
Sent from my new BFF...Evo 4G that is!
the only problem is having to take everything off to charge the extended batt. from what i have seen here, the evo wont charge these extended batt compleatly. so you have to charge them externaly.
anyone receive this yet have any comments about the case? im deciding whether or not to purchase this, or sacrifice my extended battery for the otterbox defender
! I HATE THIS PREDICAMENT! :/

yes please!!!! im going back to my stock battery trying to see if the battery life is "doable" for me right now.... otterbox defender case looks SO MUCH MORE SEXIER than the seidio rugged.. even though seidio has it for the extended battery. i jsut dont want it to breakdown like the original seidio rugged cases... -_-
if i go otterbox then that means i have 2 seidio plus wall charger on sale soon! XD
Mine gets delivered today. Since I won't risk using my EVO without it once it's here, it will be hard to be completely impartial, but I'll give my thoughts once I have it.
I have mine and I'm on the fence about it cause it is a little bigger then just the extended I have . I like the extended i was using but did not like the fact it would scratch the sides of phone when taking on and off .not having top and bottom protection was not a big deal but It did make me feel less secure about using the phone .
Now the extended rugged is nice not sure how I feel about it yet but it looks a lot more beefy and the fact I can use it as a weapon to hit somebody or throw it at some poor soul knock him out then pick it up and use it is cool ..but I'll put it on and see how well it fits in pocket and feels in hand ..
One of my favorites is still the otterbox commuter with sedio 1750 love the looks love the feel it's just nice ..
Now I have never done reviews but if you guys like I can take some pics or side by sides just let me know and I'd be happy to help you make your choice if you are still on fence
Sorry for long post maybe bad grammar and poor punctuation but Hey you can read it (painful or not )
I just got my Extended Rugged combo today this morning. I will post pics after I work. It feels really sturdy. Definitely a brick now. I'm sure it would survive a drop easily. Sadly the kickstand is gone tho.
It takes awhile to put it on and take it off considering its bad to charge the battery in the phone. The rubber attracts dust. The headphone and the charge port are covered with the rubber case as a flap. It feels really sturdy, And once on the device it feels like a tank. It isn't as thick as it looks in the pictures feels nice in the hand and in my pockets ( I wear carpenter jeans a lot ). I don't have to worry about breaking the phone any more. Everything is well packaged and for 50 bucks you even get a holster with it. Everything fits together nicely and the buttons are still really easy to push. I never have had problems with the buttons once even tho in the pictures it looks like they aren't there. It is worth the 50 bucks tho, or 30 if you already have the innocase extended. This is the short review though, It will definitely hold up.
Looks very nice tracking says I'll get mine tomorrow now I'll finally have my phone protected at work and a holster I'm excited been waiting on this for awhile figured of wait for combo instead of just the extended

Let me know how it turns out bro, I'm sure the battery is most helpful use of all.
I love this case comes with extended holster for just using extended case and rugged holster with rugged case rugged case is very sturdy and feels very nice in hand I'm not concerned about dropping my evo anymore
the only complaint I might have is when u try to type far keys next to edge you hit case but on rare occasions
Overall definitely worth the wait plus integration with my seidio car dock using ext case is pure icing on the cake
The only reason I won't upgrade this phone is cause the sheer amount of accessories I bought to get it perfect and I'll wait till it dies
Once again thanks seidio for making best sturdy sexy looking accessories ever

This looks like a major problem to me. Does anyone that hasthis case use one of the "slide style" keyboards? I use one and i'm worried I wont be able to "slide" over and hit the P or the Q. Can someone please let me know if this is true or not.
Also I have another question. Does that big beefy belt clip hold securely on a dress/casual type of belt or does it flop around? A friend of mine had the regular rugged case and he hated the holster because it wouldn't grab onto his regular sized belt it would flop around.
MUGEN 4500 MAH Battery Info for EVO
Source Link: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com
Just get the one for the Touch Pro 2 because it is the same Battery spec (Thank you HTC for keeping good specs across phone models).
Search for the following PNs (They are the same battery. Only difference is the battery door which you will toss anyway)
HLI-T7373XL
HLI-XV6875EX
HLI-T7380EX
I recommend getting directly from Mugen because you never know what happens on eBay. I got some bunk Seidio 3500s from there.
Seidio Innocase Rugged Extended Add On Kit Info for EVO
Source Link: http://www.seidioonline.com
I recommend the BD2-HK4HEV4X add on kit because you will not use the Innocase Extended but rather just the Rugged Silicon Layer and The Exoskeleton. The kit comes with the holster too. This is a $20 savings because you cut out a useless layer anyway.
Details and Info Misc:
I get significantly more usage than the 3500mAH Seidio extended battery.
The kernel and the battery are definately a good mix.
Instructions:
Also, I recommend you cut the original back cover rather than the extended cover (if you have the 3500). The original battery will still be held in place if you ever need to use it (as long as you cut it right).
Question: Who is using the Mugen 4500mh battery? Just looking for some feedback. Positives and negatives. I've only seen positive results but would like some more feedback.

Sorry, didn't have time to post pics today.
I will report though that the battery is at 66 percent and I have been unplugged from 7:30am till now which is more than I've ever seen. I'm not one for scientific analysis... J/K. I will stay unplugged as long as possible and let it die to give a full count. ( still not a real test but rather a real world test - moderate to heavy usage )
Also posting pics tomorrow...

Yes and No...
Mugen has a 4500 for the Touch Pro 2 which is the same battery spec. They just dont have a cover for the EVO for that battery so no its not official. Thats why the mod.
This is a fairly easy mod and since the Mugen has narrower dimensions on all sides except the virtical axis, that means when (if) you chop up your extended back cover or even your regular back cover, it will still secure your regualar battery or Seidio 3500 Extended battery.
BTW: I have been runnin this thing for 46 hrs and still have 10% and Im not going to stay up all night tring to run this thing down. (So much for scientific test)
Ill explain the mod in more detail tomorrow and hopefully chop up the Innocase Extended part of it. (I dont forsee the need to chop the silicone layer or the exoskeleton layer but everything else needs an exacto knife or mill)

I found it on EBay for roughly $85. Mugen sells it from their site for 99.
It says touch pro 2 (select any carrier version because the batt is the same for all)
There is no official cover for it hence the mod to the Seidio Extended Rugged. (you might not need the Innocase Extended part if my test tomorrow does not fit)
definitely gone have to try this out..thx for the post

I have "Moderate to Heavy" usage. Average user might have more battery life. All I know is that it improved battery life over the Seidio 3500 significantly with the same usage.
I'm still on Savage Kernel CFS 1.1 on CM6.1.1
After the holiday I will update all the details of the case mod and update comparison pics.
I really want to try adding the extended battery as an accessory instead of a stock battery replacement. Like a slide on, for those times when I need the battery but is easy to slide off because the stock battery door is just so god damn sleek and beautiful.
I've got a lot of experience with electrical stuff, I just need to find the time and motivation to get into it....:-/

The battery is significantly taller... I had to cut the back cover of the seidio extended battery cover and I will have to cut the innocase extended part of the innocase rugged extended. I did not have to cut the silicon layer of the innocase rugged extended nor the exoskeleton layer. I will eventually put comparrison pics and measurments etc. just havent had the time.
I'm waiting for my 4500mAh battery I ordered it yesterday after reading this post. Also I have the Seidio Rugged case because cellguru sent me that instead of the Seidio 3500 battery that I ordered. I would love to see/hear how you modified it so I don't have to experiment lol.

All side and corner clips are holding. Looks slightly different.
I'm running CM6.1.1 with Savage 1.1 kernel so hopefully I get more usage than the 3500mAH Seidio.
12/29: The kernel and the battery are definately a good mix. Im going to jump to the 1.3.4.5.6.7...version tomorrow (extra numbers added because I forgot what the real nubmer is and dont know why they are a seemingly arbitrary uptick skipping around like that??)
Pics to come tomorrow comparing the two side by side.
12/29: Going to do the comparisson pics tomorrow. Just have regular shots today. Almost didnt but I said I would so here ya go. Also going to do some pic with case off. Just didnt have the time today. End of month. Jose has to hit 1500

Can you write up a guide for this?
im interested also... how much modification did it take??
I did it pretty easily. All you have to do is cut out the battery shape from the inner most part of the case. The silicone just stretches over, then the 'exoskeleton' will clip on both the top and bottom, but not the middle (as seen in the pictures). Over all it was very simple, stayed on extremely well, and had amazing life.
I say had because i lost my phone on saturday and no longer have the battery :'(

here is what I was thinking...
If you could cut out a hole in the Innocase 2 Surface, then another hole for the Rugged " skin... would the Rugged "Skeleton? fit?
On the first one you'll have to cut off the locking mechanism to the case. You wont be able to securely snap it on. Assuming the locking mec is in the middle of the two pieces. The second one will require you to cut off everything above the kickstand so the bottom half will not have be attached to the two top corner. I'll just fall off.
I do not see why you would have to cut the sides at all, the beck extends out, not the sides.
I considered doing this with my Incredible but never pulled the trigger. I thought it might be possible. I didn't have the extended battery to try it out.

Agreed.
Are you sure you have to do cutting?
No doubt seidio will come along with their case that fits their 3500mAh battery. Honestly I don't want an even larger battery adding bulk, the 2750mAh is fine.
I did contact HTCPeida shop and they replied back that they are working on a case for the ThunderBolt with extended battery. Of course they did say "it will take some time, but check back often". In the word of offshore manufacturing and low costs in china how hard can it be to get a TPU case with an opening in the back. Not that hard or so it seems it is.
Here is the seidio Evo 4G case http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd4-hkr5hev4x.htm
I bought the seido case that comes with all the piecesi linked (three total). It fits decently without the first layer, the camera flap has tobe removed or flipped under the rubber layer, and the kick stand is a bit difficult to use.
I emailed Seidio about their 3500mAh battery and of cases that would fit it. All I got was the typical reply, we do plan on offering it, but we do not have an eta at this time.

No. Look at the design of the extended cover, theirs is full and not just a little bump
I posted this else where but I figured it was relevant info to share here.
So, Ive been buggin the crap out of Seido with requests for them to make an extended case. Ive emailed them, dropped in on their thread here, and posted on their facebook. Today they responded to my FB post with this.
"Seidio commented on their Wall post.
Seidio wrote: "Hey, we're developing a rugged case for the thunderbolt. Let me get back to you later this week on extended cases for Surface and Active!""
Received this seconds ago:
"Seidio I got more accurate information for you. We are releasing a SURFACE extended and ACTIVE extended for use with the OEM extended battery for the Thunderbolt. You can sign up to [email protected] and we'll let you know when it releases!"
haha you just liked my comment LOL!
lol. So did Seido...lol
well heres hoping it releases soon because I am kind of concerned about the durability of my thunderbolt. also, my extended battery cover doesn't fit as flush as it would like. I wonder if I got a defective cover? go sharks!

Well, supposedly theres another one also coming out, and if they dont theres always doing the Frankencase.
Im thinking that the first batch of those covers sucked. Ive heard a lot about that but mine fits PERFECT even after I dropped my phone. My screen however cracked and pushes the need for one of these cases.
you cracked the screen? dang... i gotta be careful with mine. i assume your phone is still usable though?
Does anyone know where i can find an extended battery cover similar to the one by seidio for my evo? I have an extended battery from amazon with the big cover and honestly i dont like it... seems like it isnt made for my evo. I just feel like the angle that it pops out of the back makes it look and feel awkward, and i especially hate the 4 bumps on the corners above the battery. Sometimes i have to push on the corners of the cover because i dont want dust geting in, and i feel like the added space other than the battery area is really unnecessary. So if it's possible, i would really love an extended battery back like the seidio one, preferably in a different cover(that would be fresh ), if anyone can help me find one!
Because the extended batteries all seem to have such different battery door covers, it's hard to say. I have been checking (and hoping) for seidio to make colored covers for the Evo for myself. The closest thing I found was on eBay. So try there for cases if you haven't already!
Good luck.
edited....i think I misunderstood your first post. If you are looking for the battery cover door though, ebay will probably still be your best bet.

I have an extra seidio one i can sell you, its marked up slightly though, and one prong is missing i believe, connects fine and is not loose at all
how much you selling it for
If I was you I would take his offer if its within reason. I actually bought my seido from the factory store online and broke a prong off mine accidentally and looked everywhere for just the door alone. Now this could have very easily changed but as of before xmas? Seido themselves did not sell the door alone much less best buy or amazon etc. You can find a replacement flat standard door pretty easy, but one for the extended seido? I had tough time. I actually got them to send me one no charge, but I had just spent like 200 bucks with them so.....gl
The Sedio cover won't fit the Amazon battery.

Gorilla gadgets has extened battery covers. I got my battery from them.
Will this fit the samsung extend battery?
http://www.case-mate.com//Samsung-G...ate-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Pop-Cases-w-Stand.asp
It's such a tight fit that the phone is prone to pop out of it and if you drop it face down then it might not offer any protection. My case still stuck out over the glass a little bit but if it had been dropped it probably would have just fallen out of the case and the glass would still hit concrete - also what little was left sticking out would have made the smallest pebble hit the screen as well. I got the case you have free with the phone but couldn't keep using it because of those two things;
- That it didn't offer appropriate drop protection (which was awesome with that particular case prior.
- That it might just come out of the case too easily even if it did offer appropriate protection.
I went to a guy that had a pretty sizable mobile phone accessory stand in a shopping mall and he had a case for the normal gs2 battery that happens to fit the extendable battery. I'd go and ask people until you find someone that states having one that works and then trying it on. The first one I tried fit, but it was clear and I wanted black. He had the same one in black but when I tried it on at the shop it didn't line up properly like the clear one regardless of being the same case in a different colour; so that's my advise, is to find someone that will let you try a case at the shop, but be up front that you have the extendable battery. If they don't know what you're talking about when you tell them that, and that your phone is bigger as a result, then go elsewhere until you find something appropriate from someone who knows what they're getting into when they try it on your phone before buying.
it will fit if u dont use the back cover that is supplied with the 2000 mah battery
and it fits very thight so u dont have alot of trouble with dust comming into the battery compartment
its just a bit wierd if u show people that u dont have a back cover but iam using the case now for i think 4 months with the 2000 mah battery and having no troubles with it only thing that i dont like is that the case makes the phone fat but thats not because of the battery cos with the normal battery it feels the same
I'm using this case without any issues. Fits good.

I agree with that. It protects as goods as the default cover. :good:

there are multiple discussions going on, and this is what i know so far:
It fits very tightly in some situations.
It fits if you remove the back cover of your phone (so your battery is against the case)
Im getting the battery for my birthday soon so i hope it will fit my casemate tough case as i like it alot
