Boot Animations - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running Lou's Senseless Revolution 1.0 with Lou's #4 kernel. I have read before about how to change the boot animation when you turn phone on, but I cannot find it again. Can someone give me some direction on how to replace the RR boot animation with the stock Froyo boot animation

Do you see bootanimation.zip under /system/media in root explorer? If so, just replace it with an animation using the same name.

I do not use root explorer. I use Astro as my file manager. When I go into the rom and look under system/media it takes me to audio. Nothing there for bootanimation
Any other suggestions

I think. I haven't been on one of Lou's roms in a while. I think file name is VZW_bootanimation.zip.

Thanks. I found it. So do I just download the zip file to my sd card and place it where the original one is? That is after I rename it with the same thing as original.

[Q] Questions about changing bootanimations and boot audio?

Followed this thread, says you have to add some lines to the "winusb.inf" file after running SDK Manager.
http://androidforums.com/incredible-tips-tricks/93514-htc-incredible-boot-animation-guide.html
But still nothing but the same boot. I'm running Virtuous2.7 w/ KxKBFS#4 with most bloatware removed but still has Sense btw.
So my question is, when naming and pushing the files, is it bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 + adb push to data/local directory?
Or is VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3 + adb push to system/customize/resource/???
Thanks in advance.
It is VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3 that is what I used when I changed mine.

Place your bootanimation.zip in system/media.
Do not follow the guide as it's outdated.
So you boot bootanimation.zip in /system/media along with VZW_Droid.mp3 ? to get a custom boot animation along with audio?
If you are running a virtuous rom our any rom off the leak for the incredible, the boot animation was moved for whatever reason to system/customize/resource..
VZW_bootanimation.zip
VZW_Droid.mp3

That was true in the past, but not with later versions of Virtuous. The location is system/media/bootanimation.zip and system/media/android_audio.mp3

How to install custom boot animations on Samsung Epic?

Ok I've been trying to change my stock boot animation to the honeycomb but having no luck at all. I used root explorer to put the bootanimation.zip in the path system/media . I noticed on the other devices its data/local . Also I notice that when I'm in system/media it says bootani.qmg not bootanimation.zip. so I changed the zip to look exactly like the bootani.qmg still didn't work. So could someone please tell me what to do or point me in a direction that will help me? Also I'm running stock eb13 froyo and I'm rooted.
Thanks in advance

I don't know why no one has answered you yet, but you cannot replace the boot animation on stock samsung with a boot.zip. Stock Samsung uses a QMG file for the boot animation, to use a zip to replace the boot animation you must be on a custom kernel or ROM.

This. You need a custom kernel that supports custom bootanimation. Then you can change the bootanimation.zip provided in that kernel with the one you have.
On a custom kernel that can support it, you just delete the old bootanimation.zip and copy a new one that is compatible in your rom/kernel, correct?
I am using ACS frozenRom 1.1.1 and wanted to use the awesome boot animation from midnight byor. I was able to simply copy the bootanimation.zip from system/media inside the midnight rom zip and overwrite the one on the phone in the same directory. After I rebooted I got google framework force close errors, so I cleared the google framework data, as well as contact data to be sure, rebooted and everything is groovy.
Now, naturally the second question would be, how do I change the shutdown animation?
Thanks
:EDIT: And here's the answer for shutdown animations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829529
How can i find out if a dev is working on a boot animation modable kernel for the epic touch?
Ask in the E4GT section for one...

[Q]BootAnimations?

I don't find any thread regarding bootanimations on Desire Z so I would like to ask some questions as I am new to this.
I managed to successfully root my Desire z and I have installed [ROM][6/5/11] InsertCoin_Vision Sense2.1 + 3.0 (v1.5) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080999).
Now I would like to know how to change the bootanimations, I did some searching on the site and found the following guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846394).
Problem is there are several method and there's a specific method for Sense ROM. If I am using InserCoin with Vision Sense 2.1, which method should I follow?
Any ideas or advise on this? Thank you.
Easiest way to change boot animations is using something like root explorer. Download the boot animation you want and make sure it is named bootanimation.zip the copy it to system/customize/ resource and set the permissions correctly.
If check the themes and apps sections of other handsets you will find loads of boot animations. So will even be packaged as flashable zips

I tried to wipe all the data in /data/local using root explorer and put the bootanimation.zip. Nothing showed up when I reboot my Z.
I browsed to system/customize/resource and found there's the default bootanimation.zip from HTC. I have backed that up and was going to overwrite it with the new bootanimation.zip but it won't allow me because the file system is read only. I tried to change the permission but no luck.
Any help with this?

top right corner of the screen when you're in root explorer there is a little switch which says r/w. click it then you will be able to back up you original boot animation, and paste a new one in

You can also use the UOT kitchen. It has a lot of bootanimations available and is real simple to use. Here is the link...

[Q] Blend ROM boot animation

Does anyone know of a better boot animation for the Blend Rom? Something more like the Caulkin ROMS boot animation.
Will it blend? Yes.

It's completely irrelevant. I am however relatively surprised that you have never heard of the blender guy... enjoy:http://www.youtube.com/user/Blendtec

To actually answer your question, yes, you can. I know there is another play where you can put it, but the bootanimation.zip is commonly put in system>media. You'll need to delete the other bootanimation.zip before you do it, but if you put the attached .zip in that folder, it should work just fine. Note, this unlike most things I help with on here, I have not tested myself. I have previous knowledge and know that this works on htc phone. This one is however quite a bit different. The attached file is the bootanimation.zip that has been extracted from Calk's 2.8.1.
I previously had the HTC EVO and that was the method used on that phone if I recall correctly. I searched for the system/media folder and came up with nothing! I also looked in nearly every folder to find a sub folder that might work, but found nothing. Any clues?
I cant be the only guy out here that wants to change the boot animation. Someone has to know how.
Joecr250r
Depending on your kernel (I think its the kernel that decides, may be the ROM, any who), the .zip folder must be named "sanim.zip".
I'm currently running Blend v2.6.1 with Rogue kernel 1.4.0 "Gunslinger" and have changed my boot animation. The .zip must me named "sanim.zip" or it uses a default that's in one of the other /system files.
Still not sure as to where to put the .zip folder. Should I load it thru the Rogue Bootloader?
Found where it needed to go using ES file explorer. The boot animation is under system/media and the sound is system/etc PowerOn.wav for anyone else who wanted to know.
Thanks again for all the help.

Check system/media for sanim.zip and rename yours to sanim.zip and delete the old one...
