Ive searched the forums but there is no real answer i have found, i want to know if handcent widget icon can be changed, also i think ive seen handcent app floating around with different icons are they safe to use and are there any reliable links ??
I'm pretty sure you can probably achieve this by using an app like Folder Organiser Lite, free from the Marketplace.

I think he means to change the "icon" that is the widget, folder organizer light can only change the actual icon. I would email the company and see what they say about the ones with different colors floating around......or if they could make it customizable.

So far I've stuck with free apps from the Market, haven't seen the need to spend money on one yet. But, I've been reading a lot about how people are using BetterCut to change icons, etc., (still not sure how that works, but I haven't spent much time on it, too busy flashing ROMs!), and I've just found OpenHome.
Two questions: Is BetterCut worth buying and what does OpenHome do?
Thanks!

Open Home is a home launcher (others are Launcher Pro and ADW). Basically it is a replacement for the Sense GUI (or home) you see
They have a free version of open home that you can try out. I believe the feature it banks on is its "live" folders. Personally i had a LOT of force Crashes but it was a while ago now.
I personally recommend Launcher Pro as a home replacement or ADW launcher
As for bettercut. If you want to change your Icons for individual apps then yes it is worth it. (i use app organizer and just make folders for groups and custom icons for the folders)

i haven't tried openhome, but i love bettercut. you can see the different icons i have implemented on my dock, and a few on my screens. as you may have guessed, on the dock, camera, phone, app drawer, handcent, contacts, market, where, app drawer again, maps/navigation, remote droid, browser, voice search, barcode scanner, note monkey, and weatherbug elite. i've also made a toggle for silent mode (the ninja, lol), and a custom yelp icon
totally not necessary, but i like the customization, and i think the icons looks tons better than stock. and, there are oodles of them to pick from. you can even use downloaded icons sets from your pc, just load the folder onto your phone.

To change the icons on the dock you dont need bettercut you can do that through LauncherPro itself. Though the ninja silent icon and the yelp one you needed it for since they are on the screen itself.

ah yes, you're right. but, if i didn't have the apps loaded on the dock, i'd want to change the icons anyway
Alright so I ran into some trouble while changing my Icons. When I change the phone.apk Icon it works. But when I change the contacts app icon it changes the phone apps icon to the contacts icon. I dont know why. Im relatively new at this sooo any help would be much appreciated. thanks!
Are you editing directly (i.e. using APK Edit) or you using something like BetterCut/LauncherPro/ADW? I've never tried editing the icons directly, but I have changed my icons on my homescreens using these apps and have never have any issue. If you want a different launcher, ADW/LP will make changing the icon simple, BetterCut can be used with Sense to achieve a similar effect
Ah I was editing directly.

Yea, I very much suggest using launcherpro, it's as easy as holding down your finger on the homescreen, selecting application and then choosing an app. When it opens the text editor, just click on the actual icon to change it. I keep a special folder called "My Icons" on my sd so it's always in my gallery for use.

Hey I had no clue launcher pro could do that, I've been using folder organizer for all that stuff. Now I have one less program installed taking up resources, thanks.

FYI LauncherPro/ADW cannot change the icons for folders, just for apps, you're still going to need Folder Organizer for changing folder icons
EDIT: At least the free versions can't

Both paid and free cant.
So im looking for a folder app with these features:
-Custom icon size/coulmns
-And so it hides apps I already put in a folder so it's easier to organize.
I tried simi folders app but didn't hide apps I already had in a folder. Go launcher does hide the apps tho but i dont like that launcher.
Any suggestions? Please?

What do you mean hide apps already in folder? When creating a different folder?

You could use Folder Organizer (the paid version). You get custom icons, but not a number of columns/rows. There is automatically a group called "Other Apps" - this groups all of the apps that aren't yet labelled. From the main screen you can go to labels > other apps, then assign labels to the apps inside the group. As the apps are labelled, the group gets smaller. There's also an option to receive a notification when a new app is installed. When you tap on the notification, it allows you to assign labels at that time. You can put folders in folders if you're super OCD like I am.
It doesn't have everything you asked for, but it's pretty awesome. There's a free version without custom icons for apps/shortcuts/bookmarks/contacts, but you still get custom icons for folders. I'd say try it out, if you want to buy the full version just export your settings from the free version & import them to the paid version.
EDIT: My spelling of labelled looks wrong, is it? "Labeled" looks even stranger though.
EDIT #2: While you can't specify columns/rows, there are multiple options for the look of the folder. You can also create a custom skin for the folder, with colors & transparency that you choose.
Ok thanks. And yes i meant when creating a new folder in don't want to see the other apps. So i dont have an app in multiple folders

I have many applications and games and this can be kinda messy in the applications menu. Is there anyway to organize them into individual folders or perhaps at least arrange them manually instead of sorting them alphabetically or by date? The menu>edit tabs also seems to not be working as all i see is a blank screen with the top saying press and hold icons to rearrange.
You would need to replace the Sense "Rosie" launcher with a third party one to get that, I think. The app drawer is part of the launcher and the only way to change its behaviour is to replace it.
Folder Organizer might help you. Mine is a paid version, but there is lite version for free.

You can drag one application icon over another and this will change it to folder. The folder can have 4*4, 16 icons. This was you can organise the apps in folders.
That's on the home screen, though. I think he was asking about folders in the app drawer.

I do not believe that this is possible in the app drawer without a specific app though.

.... sorry, was posted before.
Go Launcher EX kan do this.
Make folders in the App drawer.
HTC Sense can only make folders on the homescreen.
All of these options require it to overwrite or disable sense right?

Yup - Sense as in the launcher and widgets. You wouldn't lose the Sense apps like camera or contacts etc.

Thnx. Works fine
hey,
I've downloaded some icon sets, but they aren't shown in my normal gallery.
I also reinstalled 2 other gallery apps, but they still don't show any icon.
In Zooper I got the problem, by adding a bitmap:
I haven't the ability to choose an icon of an iconset, just from my gallery and things like that.
The downloaded iconsets aren't shown there...
I also tried to choose the icons manually, with a file browser, but I cannot find the right location, where the icon set is installed.
How can I fix this problem?
Thanks a lot in advantage.

Are the iconsets zipped and put in the correct folder? I've had to unzip iconsets on computer and rezip for them to work.

Question for clarification: are you talking about Zooper icon sets (for weather, battery, etc) or are you talking about system icon sets (for apps you have installed)?

Thanks for your reply,
I've just installed them from the play store. Like a normal app.
And I'm talking about the system icon sets

Those are only accessible from within Zooper if the icon pack supports the appropriate intent. There is however a tool with which you can extract the icons from the icon pack, so you can load them into Zooper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redphx.themex
Remember though that if you extract icons from paid packs in this way, you can not share the Zooper templates.
thanks a lot, that's exactly what I was looking for!

Odd, for some reason when I install icons off of the playstore, I can see them in my Gallery. No idea as to why that would be, but it works for me. I'm on a GS3 running CM11 d2att. Maybe that has something to do with it.
