Wanted XDA app...

Greetings all,
Apologies in advance if this was the wrong place to post this.
My question is; where can I get the latest version of the XDA app?
I activated my EVO-supersonic in developer mode, and after rooting it,
I deleted Gmail, Google search. Since I have no Google accounts, there was
no point in keeping them, as they only used battery, and had nothing to
offer me.

Hey how can I play music in my car. I don't listen to talk radio so I got rid of my stereo. I didn't see a purpose for it. But I would like to listen to music. Any suggestions? LOL

Sorry everyone has to act like an idiot. I'll pull the apk and post it up for ya. Hang tight.
And so next time you can avoid this...this would be a good thread in the themes and apps section.. but that is what the real moderators are for..they can move it.

Sorry, 'fraid I don't get it.
My attempted point was that given that I don't have Gmail, I am
UNable to use the "Market" to download apps. So I was hoping
someone might be able to perhaps PM me the XDA app. Had NO intention of
posting the thing on the net, or anything. Just was hoping to use it, that's all.

My reason for choosing this forum, was because it was related to app's, and I am using an EVO.

Fair question, quietpopcorn, and I understand why you might ask.
I picked this phone primarily because of it's screen size. After bringing it home,
I was disappointed with most of the app's installed. So I couldn't wait to delete them. That seemingly simple task brought me here. Now, having been a s/w developer for many years, I'm excited to start writing apps that do not require a "Market" account, and can be written using most any *NIX platform.
How would this be possible, you may ask? Because I'm well into the completion of a BSD ROM. I chose BSD, because of it's ability to run BSD applications, as well as Linux, w/o any trouble to speak of.
Hope that might clear things up a bit.

You may also want to consider Tapatalk app. Tapatalk.com is where you can look at the info. Its a paid app but its cheap. Also it will allow you to view tons of different forums. Having a Gmail account is actually very beneficial, Google email is actually bad ass. Then you can use gtalk which is sick. So many things that you can gain from signing up. To boot its free

I lurk on these forums a lot, never post but decided to post on this one.
You do know that gmail is free, correct? XDA is a great community and as you can see very helpful, but shouldn't be abused.
I'm fairly certain you know that gmail is free and either
1)Don't want to sign up for a gmail account that you'll never use and give all your information to "the man".
False information (first/last name) works well last I knew.
2)Don't want to "waste time" signing up for that, and instead would prefer to waste other people's time while they do your work for you.
I'm bothered because in my opinion you're abusing the helpfulness of XDA. If all the users did this "I don't want to register, can you just do all this stuff for me?" XDA wouldn't be a place where anyone wants to go, because it's simply people begging for help on the simplest of tasks.
To solve this problem I would simply go to gmail.com, sign up for an account, and get your own apps off the market. You were lucky that you found a helpful person that got you what you wanted but if XDA were full of people like you no one would come here. Luckily most posts are full of helpful contributions.
I'm not saying don't ask for help on something, but I'd say a good number to shoot for would be to respond helpfully to 10 posts for every 1 post you ask for help. And if it's something you're more than capable of doing yourself, just do it. Don't waste other people's time, it's just selfish.

I actually already looked at that, and you're right, it is a good app for all things XDA related. I had almost chosen to install it. But then ran across XDA app, and decided I'd like to try that first. I may well install Tapatalk. But I'm as yet undecided.

NP. Here to help with what I can when I can. The XDA community has helped me tons. I have 6 different forums going ATM with Tapatalk. One mainly for my car. So it has a ton of different options.

Flow CM9 Theme Question

Anyone any ideas why the original thread in the android themes section is closed. All it says is:
Please do not use XDA to advertise your paid apps.
Thread closed.
I always see apps/themes on here where you have to purchase them on the market?
Plus the thread creator has had his account temp disabled? Whats going on with XDA These days

I think its because he doesn't have a free version?

Exactly that. Same thing happened to Nitroz because he had a donate and trial version, but because the trial version wasn't the exact same as the donate, it got closed until he made the donate version free.
Ridiculous IMO.

It`s not Ridiculous, xda have never been a site to advertise,everything is for the love of what you do and if people appreciate your work they will buy you a beer. It`s always been like this, also how can someone charge for googles work all the pngs belong to who,i donate to devs all the time and most of them dont ask, there product is free.Now ask your self this question if the flow theme was free would you donate to the dev just because you like his work and want it to continue or would you just keep downloading because it`s free .

I get that, what I said was ridiculous was Nitroz getting closed down because the free version wasn't exactly the same as the donate version, yet there are loads of other themes here which are *just* paid that remain open.
I understand that there's people that will donate to most things they like, but there's other people than need an incentive. Its always been the case of if you like the free version, upgrade to the donate version which has more stuff than the free one.

It's very nice, although the Developer needs to go back to the original concept slightly. The last few updates have started to turn Flow nto another "Miui" theme.
The dev needs to go back to basics.

I don't like that way. I don't like people that sell themselves for some theme or a simple app. If I were a themer or dev, I would make only a free version, but I would put a link to donate if they enjoyed my work or something else. See? There's some awful paid themes, and some awesome free ROM. Yeah, there's a difference between get paid by a limited work and because he really needs some cash. I see some paid kernel configurators and hate it. That's a limited work, that will only work on his work. But if I don't like his kernel? Wasted money. I think that this is the way it should be on XDA. And what I do before I buy a app? I download a illegal version to test, and if I think that the dev deserves it, I buy. If not, I simply uninstall it, no money wasted at all. If the dev is just selling himself and I like it? I buy just to don't stay on the illegal, but with a knife on my heart.

Well i think that the dev of the theme was really nice and he was answering all of the xda members questions and not only that he also did really fast updates and sometimes 2 updates a day. i think for that kind of support he really deserves to get paid for not only this awesome theme but for the best theme he made for cm9 and aokp and to support him doing more awesome themes. also keep in mind that he said he is very noob with all those adb decompile xml etc. but he manage to deliver us a great theme in such a small time

I don't get it. Can somebody please explain to me why would we, using the sgs2 need this apk?
I haven't heard anywhere that the nice folks over at Sammys caved into apple's cease and desist letters, and downgraded the Google search widget on our device yet.
My stock GB rom still has a proper working universal search widget, but Im assuming all you JB fanboys don't have one?

And it's just my opinion. But you should know by now that to be able to accomplish most mods you're going to need root.

Use the EasyRoot method. Read through the instructions once or twice to familiarise yourself with the process and download any files you need before attempting it.

Rooting methods are all the thread. Please read it to get some understand about rooting. it is not as bad as you might think it is. This forum is a place where we can share our experiences and knowledges with each other, with attitude will get you no where my friend. Community is here to help not for fighting. Also there are lots of apps for this task that you ask for. If you are unfamiliar with it then just simply restart the phone if you can not be bothered to close them one by one. It is sony's side that did not include this feature and i do not know why they did not do it.

I still use this app for every phone I ever get I I currently use the HTC desire 626s and it's worked fine on it
