Sorry if this is a silly question but can somebody please answer it anyway.
I have a spare sd card which i have used as my goldcard but for various reasons, i would like my main sd card to be my goldcard.
The question is, if i make my main sd card into a gold card, if for any reason i have to format my goldcard in the future will it cease to be a goldcard after the formatting?
I think it could get corrupted over time, especialy if you use it every day. Just to be safe repeat the gold card process when you need it, it only takes a couple seconds
EDIT: i think that it will still be a gold card after formating, the bigger issue is corruption

Yes, you can still continue to use your Gold Card as your regular sd card and still format it when required as this will have no effect on it.
Even if you re-partition your sd card, it will still function as a Gold Card.

Is there any way to make a 2G SD card look like a 256M SD card to an old device.
My ipaq210 allows me to boot from an old small MMC/SD card but cannot boot from a new 'large' one.
Is there any way to re-format heads/cyl/sectors/...
a 2G SD card to trick the old hardware into thinking its a 128or256M card?
I don't know anything about this stuff.
Sorry for not finding through search.
no way if the sd card in question is sdhc then you can't use it
otherwise you can partitionize it just like one do a harddisk

Thanks for the help.
I tried partitioning several different ways.
Still only likes the small cards.
It does not even get to the boot loader.
Must be a hardware incompatbility.
I have a debranded Desire 2.2 which is not rooted. Inside my phone i have an 8gb sd card which contains data for many apps as i use adb push apps to sd.
To debrand my phone, i created a gold card from a seperate 2gb sd card.
My question is; Is there any way i can make my main sd card into my gold card without affecting any of my apps which i have stored on it? The reason i am asking this is that i require my gold card for any future updates and this will save a great deal of hassle with reinstalling applications everytime i require an update.
When I made a gold card (didn't actually need it in the end to debrand BTW using unrevoked). I couldn't access it as a normal SD card... Would be nice to know how to do this. I have a 4GB Gold card (which is pretty much useless), and a 8GB ext3/FAT32 card!

If you copy all the files on you card to another location, format the card, make a gold card, and copy the files back, all should be fine

I follwed the process absolutely for making this, and replace the 000-0170 lines, but the disk was not readable in Windows.. Any idea what I did wrong?
While i was updating one of my apps my phone went to a black screen and restarted i think, i wasn't paying attention to it at the time. And when it came back on none of my apps on my sd card were available. Also im unable to mount or unmount my sd card. I also restarted and removed the battery and sd card, which did nothing.
I just tried a different sd card and it worked. Is it possible that my sd card just died?
Does any other device (Phone, PC card reader) reads your card?
Try re-format it (use 3rd party app).
If not working, then it's dead.
I have the same problem with my SD card.
A formatted and go from zero.
I've had something like this, my card seemed to format itself while in use.
I just reformated the lot and repartitioned using gparted and everything was fine,
think it was down to a dodgy app? on my phone because after i deleted a few apps it never happened again.
What would be an app that would reformat it? And i tired a diffrent sd card in my phone and it read that one so its just my sd card.

Think it was a dodgy copy of swift key that caused it, left that off and its never happened again.

I've had a 2 GB SD card in my WFS, it was formatted properly, Int2Ext4+ and everything else was working, now I need more space so I changed to a 8 GB SD card, but when I try to format it with MiniTool Partition Wizard it says bad disk or something like that. Then I need to eject the SD card and insert it again and then I have to format it again.
Is it possible that there is something wrong with the SD card and I should just buy a new one? It was working before when it was just used to save data on it, but when it comes to formatting it doesn't really work.

it said error bad disk because you might had formatted it wrongly or take out sdcard many reasons.
just put that in your phone properly and then power off phone.after power off remove sdcard and put it in card reader with computer.
and then it ll said format memory card then format it and then you can use minipartitional tool.

I don't think that's the problem, cause I did everything like how I did on my previous SD card, and on that card it was working properly.
But I'll try to do what you said, if it doesn't work I'll buy a new one, it's not so expensive anyways.

It was always working wierdly, that's why I didn't use it in my phone in the first place, but since it was good enough for my mp3 player I thought I'd give it a try again, guess I shouldn't have.
SD-Card removed unexpectedly
I partitioned the sd-Card and used INT2EXT4+ ., internal memory is fine reading above 800MB cuz it was 1 GB partition, but i am getting error over and over again that ''SD-Card removed unexpectedly'' and ''damaged sd card'' my card has total 8GB
Its a weird problem....but maybe you changed the file system of your sd card or something like that. Otherwise..you should buy a new one!

Your phone not recognizing different SD cards has nothing to do with the goldcard. Either your current SD card is failing or your phone's SD card reader is failing.
Thanks what format do you recommend for a sense based rom?

Android uses fat32 system format. If your sdcard is corrupted or messed formatting will not fix it.
What do you want a goldcard for? if you are S-OFF there is no need for one. For your description seems that your sdcard reader might be flaw. Try cleaning the contacts with a bit of alcohol...
