Having problem with wi-fi - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
no matter what kernel I install, wi-fi does not work. Can someone tell me why. I installed the net kernel, and all other kernels, but wi-fi stopped working and is just stuck obtaining ip address.
Can someone help me?
Thanks

Try reflashing your ROM.
Then try wiping everything and then reflashing a different ROM.
Also, what ROM are you using?

I am using the Stock Turbo ROM, which kernel would be best for that?
Could you help me?

I did what you said, and flashed the Azrael ROM and still nothing is happening. It is stuck on obtaining ip address

and is there an older kernel because I have the newest radios......
Thanks

I tried to use different ROMs and Radios and no one can help me. When I turn on wi-fi it shows me "Error" all the time. What can I do to fix it? Some sayd me to open my phone, find wi-fi module and check a cable, but I don't have any chance to do it. What can you advise me? Thank
I had the same problem with HoneySense RC1, but I reflashed the ROM then UNITY V4 w/o booting between and has been working good...that's what I did with Honeysense but without knowing what ROM you're using it's hard to say what the problem is!!!!
I have Shokouhi Saga G2 ROM. But I installed a lot of different ROMs and no one helped me. Maybe today or tommorow I will install UNITY v4 and then write there what will happen. thank

You will need to do a fresh install of a ROM but this has worked for me in the past also... Just flash the .zip like a ROM, then flash your ROM and then UNITY4 (only if you're using a Sense ROM)!!! Try that on for size, if that doesn't work you need someone more talented than I am!!!

Done all this what you said me and nothing changed I turned on a wi-fi and it started and tried to find network, but after 5 seconds it shows me "can not start a scan for a network"
Maybe when I dropped my phone on the ground and that damaged a wi-fi module...

Wifi will not connect

Here is what I have done...
I installed Starburst ROM and did a back up before doing so. I kept getting LOS with Starburst so decided to go back to stock and booted in clockwork and did a restore.
Now, my phone will not connect to my home network. When I try, it sees the network but just says obtaining ip. I know it is not a network issue, but an issue with the phone. I am back to stock kernel and stock ROM. Should I have did a wipe before restoring?
Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any and all help/responces.
Just loaded rootish5 rooted kernel and wifi works... wonder why it doesn't work on stock.
I have the same problem. It worked before I rooted, now that I'm rooted running stock kernal, it says the same thing, "obtaining IP address" and it never connects.
I still don't fully understand how these Samsung android phones work as far as kernals and recovery, apparently you can't flash the recovery by itself, you need to flash a kernal with it, or the recovery is part of the kernal, I don't know.
It also works with the Zedomax kernel...
Maybe someone will be able to help!!
Thanks again for any and all assistance.
try using the zedomax kernal or LOSt kernal, that should help with your problem

All works perfect at 2.2 - 4.0.4 ROMs. Only problem with JB.
Tried to install on STOCK table, full wipe, latest radio (5.17.05.23).
Tried to install over stock 2.2 and stock 2.3 ROMs.
Tried various recoveries: CWM (+Touch), 4EXT, RuHD.
Tried various radios: 5.11.05.27, 5.17.05.08, 5.17.05.23.

This is not problem with JB rom. No one else complained with this issue. It is a problem with my device configuration. But I can't understand what's wrong.
The problem starts when you choose to install ICS/JB rom...

I've got exactly the same problem. If your problem is solved, please tell us the solution.
If anyone else knows how to solve this issue, please let us know.
I tried different JB Roms, and it's the same.
I first thought it is an S-Off or full-wipe problem, but nothing helped. WiFi won't work.

Help: The wifi doesn't work, and the mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00

my device is e980, I flash some roms (carbon, beanstalk BS_homony)and found that the wiif doesn't work except on the stock rom and the slimbean rom, the mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. I google it and changed the /data/misc/wifi/config file with modify the cur_etheraddr=23:dd:88:99:c2:e4. When I reboot, the wifi still doesn't work and the cur_etheraddr=00:00:00:00:00:00. First try to flash the stock rom
And then try again with custom roms.

I ran into this same problem and after many attempts at after market ROMs, C10.1 and 11, I had to go back to stock. Was never able to figure this out and it seems like not too many people ran into it.
Hey, I was able to get it working with the latest nightly CM build. The way I did it was to do a dirty flash on top of the LG stock Rom and then do a Data/Cache Reset. Now I'm not sure if it's been fixed in the CM build itself or if it was the dirty flash, but it's been running great so far.
I did not have the 0.0..... mac address problem in the latest CM11 nighlies but the wifi would not work.
After many reflashes I found that if in settings>wifi>advanced>region code I checked any country, the wifi would start working immediately.
Although the setting did not stick on reboot.
