Finally got my handset this week, it's pretty sweet, I used to cook ROMs for the Toapz so Android is "a new toy" for me.
On the Topaz, well WM6.5 really, you could turn SRS off or on for any audio going through the headset/earphones. But I cannot find a way to do that on our DHD's via any of the obvious settings dialogues, other than exclusively in the hTC Music app?
This is pretty crap for me as I use the handset with last.fm, but cannot find a way to adjust the sound properties. Am I being an Android noob, or is this just simply not accessible at the moment?
I have no idea about the new Android App Inventor software, but could this be used to make a toggle widget for example?
I found it from default music player, but i don't know is it working with Last.fm.. But the Surround work really! I have tested it with Finnish tv program, TVKaista fo Android..

I've found that too, and you're right, it sounds pretty good.
But I can not find a way of activating it in applications other than native hTC ones?
On another note, the DLNA streaming is awesome, but again, is there any way to activate this for other applications other than the native hTC selection?
Start playing something on last fm. Press your home button and launch the htc music app. Make sure you have SRS/Dolby on. Press play and then pause. The sound on lastfm should be enhanced now. That's a "dirty" method to make it work (hopefully).

Nope. You can't trick it either.
Switching the enhancements has no effect, and as soon as you press play in hTC Music, last.fm stops playing and starts scrobbling the track that's loaded in Music - you cannot play both at once, they're linked.
Any other ideas?

I havent tried last.fm. But what I normally do is press play on the HTC Music app and then press play on the other app - this stops the HTC Music app, but the effects (Dolby/SRS) remain active. However, any (sound) notification, like, an new email/message, then the effects goes off. You have to start the process all over again .

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6815141#post6815141
the thread you linked to has just an mp3, not an app. to set it as a ringtone, copy it into the windows folder on your device memory (not sd card). you may have to reboot after this but then, it should be an option for setting as ringtone or alert
EDIT now that i think about it, you may have to convert to .wav or can use the mp3 trimmer app found on most ROMs
oh sorry- didn't see that it was just a mp3

Haha, class! Can't wait to annoy everyone at work with this. Thanks

It doesn't work on my Blackstone
After blowing the mic I get the message my phone is not supported. When I quit the app, the volume has gone to silent. Am I doing something wrong?
Are you blowing straight into the mic? (note you must blow BEFORE tapping Ok)
Eventually I passed the mic-check, but I don't hear anything while blowing in the mic.
Tried it too when tapping my finger on the screen while blowing, but it won't work
Still the volume is switched to silent after I close the app. Tried 1 to 5, no difference.
so neither sounds when tapping? I guess there is something wrong with your volume. In my case it reverts to my previous volume when I quit...
I just briefly tried it and it worked the first time on my Blackstone.
I really don't understand.
No sound when tapping either. Installed it on internal storage and storage card, no difference.
I've played music in the background while running the app and I can still hear it when tapping the screen. Still no vuvuzela-sound though. When I quit the program, the phone switches to silent-mode.
Really strange.

So indeed there was a problem on some ROMs maybe...
Can anybody tell me what this is or how I could find out be it task manager or whatever... It appears every now and then whenever I'm connected to the web for an extended period of time. It stayed even after killing all programs via go launcher task manager

Do you have a music downloader on your phone? If you do, clear its app data and it will most likely go away.
If you don't have one or it doesn't work, then download Airpush and it will pinpoint the source

It was the music downloaded that was doing that for me. If you have it uninstall it. If you need a need a new one search for "music junk.apk" on 4shared.com. worked for me!

I just use YouTube downloader and save HD music vids as mp3 only it rips the HD audio and trashes the video most songs end up about 4-7mb with excellent quality

Thanks! Haven't seen any since I cleared the data.. also downloaded Airpush and found out some other apps were making different ads pop up which is useful info...
I guess I'll ask a second question while I've already got this thread: Does anyone know if WidgetLocker could cause the phone to not wake when the button is pressed, or perhaps anything else that could cause it.. I sometimes have to plug the charger in so that the screen comes on and after that it's okay. It's fine when i'm at home but potentially quite a major inconvenience.
WidgetLocker has randomly given me all kinds of odd issues not waking the screen, not being locked when woken up, changing themes on its own, moving or deleting Widgets finally it got sidelined for go locker now that it supports custom shortcuts

If you don't mind me asking, how do you do this? I used to have a program that I found on the Market named YouTube downloader, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Can you use lockscreen widgets (like poweramp) with go locker? I had it once before and couldn't very effectively, so I used WL because I could..

Hi All,
We have recently released a new tablet friendly android app to stream videos and music directly from PC to your Android device.
The app supports HTTP Live streaming and can live transcode pretty much all the video formats. Let us know your feedback.

The streaming quality is very impressive! I played a 1080p mkv with my nexus 7 tethered to my S3. The only slight issue I am having is that the video pauses whenever I get a popup notification, and when I start it again it jumps forward a couple of minutes in the video. Is there any way to give an option to let the video continue to play notifications come through?

Music streaming is working great. Playback is pretty much instant, and the sound quality is awesome. Music does not seem to be affected by incoming popup notifications. It continues to play while the notifications come through.

Is it possible for me to get Music Lockscreen Controls without having to flash a completely new ROM, cause I'm starting to get frustrated with having to put in my Passcode everytime I wanted to see what Song I'm playing or when I wanted to change track.
If its necessary, I'm running Xperia S UI for Xperia Play Extreme Final Edition.
No music controls on gingerbread thats for sure. Unless theres an app that is made for gingerbread to allow you to have lockscreen music controls.

Okay, thanks.
So I take it I need to switch ROMs, to one like DiXperia?
EDIT: Oh wait, should I flash this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860343
No. The app itself has add support the firmware your using. Going to dixperia wont change anything because its gingerbread. I know some music apps support lockscreen controls but you have to for instance ics.
Decided to take the 'leap' anyway, and now I'm suffering from Link2SD pushing all of my Apps to internal and the dreaded Low Internal Space (2.5GB of Applications).
Now I've found that I've lost around 50 Applications too.

Bit of a late post, but I'll post what worked for me since this thread was a top search result.
I was just looking for the same functionality; music controls on lock screen on gingerbread. I've used CM jellybean ROM on my GS2 for a number of weeks and while I noticed slightly better battery, I was underwhelmed by certain changes, hence my decision to go back to rooted stock ROM.
I installed a FREE lock screen app called MagicLocker Main. You can choose to download from hundreds of themes, but it comes preinstalled with 'Lost Robot Music'. When you first run the app you'll set it as default launcher, then you can customise the theme if you so desire.
Basically worked perfectly for me on my galaxy s2 gingerbread. Pressing power or home buttons turns on screen to custom lock screen with music controls. Dragging the large power icon down removes the screen showing me my pattern unlock screen.
The music controls worked with the built in 'Music' app. If it doesn't work for you might be worth trying some different music players.
Another popular lock screen app is called WidgetLocker, which is a paid app. It looks like you might be able to use this to add widgets to lock screen, so for example you could add Winamp (or other player) widget to lock screen.
chery2k, GB havent music controls? Really?
What about lockscreen in cm7(whitch is just AOSP lockscreen with customisable layouts) or lockscreen in NXT rom by krisdee?
You can control music through lockscreen in nxt 2 rom by krisdee..
