Hi guys,
Got an OTA message and installed without thinking twice *my bad*
I have stock froyo, rooted with unrevoked. Now the OTA failed (signature verification), I had this issue in the past with the Froyo OTA and the solution then was to disable the signature verification so I did this again.
Install worked but now the phone just shows the "htc" startup screen over and over again (is this a bootloop?)
When I try to boot into recovery I just get a red triangle and an exclamation mark and that's it so I am guessing it's bricked
Anybody any ideas?
Thanks!
B
I would suggest the easiest thing to do is download the 2.29.405.2 RUU from shipped roms and run that.
You will then be unrooted.
You can then check for updates again or root.
Be aware tho, that this will wipe your phone.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the feedback
"I would suggest the easiest thing to do is download the 2.29.405.2 RUU from shipped roms and run that."
can you get me started here... no idea where to start
I did manage to get into the android system recovery, but when I run the update.zip I get a "signature verification failed"
Would it be an option to rename my OTA Froyo zip to "update.zip"?
Cheers
B
Yep, you could try that...
You can find the RUU for your current rom here - http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
If you flash the RUU, boot your phone into fastboot (power + back), connect to PC, wait till it says fastboot usb the run the RUU.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thx!
I just run the exe file then?
extra question: Is this the UK version? I'm from Belgium so I would like to get my languages back...
Cheers
B
Yep, just run the exe file.
The ROM is a WWE which is a European version so should have the languages.
Have you always been on the 2.29.405.2 rom? Or is this different to the original rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok I see the fastboot USB appearing but the RUU says "usb connection error" grrr
should I select something from the menu? bootloader or something?
Cheers
B
I don't think you have to select anything once in fastboot.
What version of Windows are you running? Can you try running the exe as administrator?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I'm running XP and I am administrator... maybe something to do with drivers?
cheers
B
You could try installing htcsync if you don't have it already...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hi Mike,
Installed HTC Sync which installed some drivers... Now I get "HBOOT USB PLUG" instead of "HBOOT USB"
RUU gives same error
I'm gonna get a sd-to-micro-sd adapter tomorrow and try the update.zip thing
Thanks already for the help!!
Cheers
B
Ok, let us know how you get on.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
FYI
I push/pulled the battery and I got back the "fastboot USB" and now the RUU goes a bit further... he sees my image version (2.29.405.2), I select "update" and I can upgrade to the same version... then RUU says waiting for bootloader, the phone goes black with white HTC logo and after about 20 seconds I get again the USB connection error
cheers
B
Have you tried turning off any anti virus software you have on your pc?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
just found out that I can't do that, I have no rights to disable virusscan (work-pc) I'll try the update.zip
come to think about it, I think I've deleted the downloaded froyo OTA zip file to make room on my sd card, do you know where I can download it?
Cheers mate!
B
Not too sure which update you received but, if you download this...
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
And rename it to PB99IMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card and reboot your phone into recovery (power + vol down). The file will get picked up and the 2.29.405.2 rom should be installed after following any prompts.
You'll be in the same position as running the RUU but obviously, you need access to your SD card.
HTH
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thanks!! will go for it tomorrow... fingers crossed!
B
Was about to say the PB99IMG method is a lot easier than mucking around with the PC not seeing the phone...it should work but remember if you were branded before you will need a gold card
Yep, thanks Eddy.
If you were not on the unbranded rom originally, you will need a goldcard.
Cheers for confirming my suggestions
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok downloaded the file, renamed it and put it in the root of my sd
When I press volume down + power I arrive in the HBOOT menu.
After a short while I get following output
loading PB99DIAG.ZIP
no image
loading PB99DIAG.nbh
no image or wrong image
loading PB99IMG.zip
checking PB99IMG.zip
Then I get the question if I want to start update... Off course I selected yes
After the upgrade I got a prompt to reboot and after the reboot I was again in the out-of-the-box status!
Mike thank you very very very much for your help and patience! People like you are the reason this forum is so great!
Cheers!

Hi everybody,
I have an S-Off HTC Desire running LeeDroid 2.3d. I've also flashed Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 as the default recovery for the phone. I have been using an 8GB microSD until I got a 16GB today. I pulled the 8GB out and inserted the 16GB into the phone. However, once i put the 16GB inside the phone, it would no longer boot. The phone no longer boots up into the ROM, and it doesn't boot into Recovery mode as well; it just remains at the white HTC screen. Basically, I can only get into the Bootloader and Fastboot. Does anyone know what might be wrong and how I could fix this? Thanks a lot in advance!!
EDIT: I have since tried flashing different recoveries through Fastboot, but to no avail.
Come on guys I would REALLY appreciate if anyone could help me out with this =)
It boots up with the old 8 GB card?
If yes, you have to partition the new card for the custom ROM and reflash the ROM or restore a nandroid backup.
Sent from my customized HTC Desire using TTP
No, the phone does not boot up even with the old 8GB card. It's the same issue as with the 16GB card.
Do you guys think it would help at all if I tried to remove S-off from the device? I'm getting pretty desperate for ideas so any help is greatly appreciated.
Would anyone know how to remove S-off? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I need the PB99IMG.zip file that downgrades the HBOOT from 0.93.1 down to 0.80 (or any other version would probably do). Is this correct? Does anyone have the file they could link me to? Thanks!

No, it does not boot at all. I've tried with an SD, without an SD. Even without a SIM
I would suggest running the RUU for your original rom, or one of the WWE ones. This will put your phone back to stock, no root, no s-off.
All of your data will also be wiped.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure how to do that. Can I do that even though I have no access to Recovery mode? If you could give me some instructions and point me in the direction of the file, that would be great!
You can do this if you can get into fastboot.
What are your original rom details? And was your phone branded/which carrier/which country etc..
The more details the better
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Originally, my phone was from Hong Kong. I didn't buy it with a carrier, it was from an electronics store. So basically, it was unbranded and unlocked when I first got it.
Also, I'm really not sure how to do this through Fastboot, or even where to get the files... So yah... Sorry if I'm such an idiot lol
One more thing. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I don't have a goldcard.
OK, short and bundled for you. This is only a guidance list, you'll have to get the details yourself with your google-fu.
- get the android SDK. You'll get adb and fastboot with it.
- install the adb drivers.
- once you got that try "fastboot devices" in your windows command shell.
- it shows your device? OK, you did everything correctly.
- get to flash whatever you like by downloading an img file and flashing it with "fastboot <target location> <img-filename>
Cheers.
Ok another possibly stupid question. I've gone on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 and have downloaded one of the GSM WWE files. However, it's a .exe file. What do I do with that? I was under the impression that Fastboot only works with .img files? Also, what is the difference between the GSM WWE and the GSM URL files?
I have tried following some instructions I found off Google. It told me to run the RUU .exe file and extract the rom.zip file from it. I did this, renamed it to PB99IMG.zip, put it onto my SD, and tried to flash it via the Bootloader. However, I am given a message saying the CID is incorrect. I'm guessing this might be because I don't have a GoldCard? All in all, my phone is still not fixed, and I'm really hoping someone could help me out (i.e., give me some instructions as to how to flash the RUU .exe file through Fastboot).
Remove the PB99IMG.zip file from the sd card.
Turn off the phone.
Hold down back and the power button.
You should now be in the fastboot menu.
Plug the phone into your computer with usb. It should now say 'fastboot usb' instead of 'fastboot' on the phone.
Then run the RUU exe file on your computer and follow the instructions on the screen of your computer. It will install the rom automatically.
I had this problem at the weekend and couldn't fix it. Phone went off to HTC who have sent it back after fixing, I don't know what they did though because I missed the delivery of my phone back today
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951950
The error message indicates you need a goldcard to flash the WWE ROM.
have you checked if one of the Asian ones can be applied without a goldcard.

The Downgrade of the Bootloader only works if you are running a device that can actually boot up fully. Download this RRU, put your phone into Fastboot via the Bootloader menu, connect your phone to the computer whilst in Fastboot, you should see the Red Fastboot writing change to Fastboot USB Plug, when you see this run the RRU you downloaded, and you're device should be restored to Factory Default with the latest version of Froyo. You WILL loose all data and root and S-Off, but this is the only thing I can think of to fix your device mate hope I helped...
*Sorry, I just realised someone had posted a similar tutorial, I only read the first page of the thread, didn't realise there was a second. You don't need the AndroidSDK, if you have HTC Sync installed, then all the drivers should automatically be there, but when you run the RRU, just make sure that you close HTC Sync (it'll appear in the taskbar on Windows) as it thinks the device is syncing, and can occasionally cause problems.
YES!!!! You guys are amazing! I managed to find my old GoldCard and flashed the RUU jaaystott posted. The phone now boots up and everything is in perfect working order. I'll be sure to thank everyone for their help!
Hi,
I was trying to root my phone with the guide that is on this forum, but then when i restarted my phone, it was stuck on the white "HTC" boot screen. Then i tried to do a "Factory Reset" in hboot and rebooted, and still stuck on the boot screen. I tried to put a PD98IMG.zip as it was prompted in hboot as "no image or wrong file", so i loaded PD98IMG.zip onto my SD card, and still not working. any suggestions ?
my phone is S-ON.
I guess your phone is branded ? If that's the case, you need to follow the tutorial for a goldcard.
Also, if your rom is 1.7x or 1.8x, you can't root it. You have to follow the downgrade tutorial 1st
Mine took 30 mins to boot once. You could try the ruu look in dev section, you just flash it from Windows, then start again. Was your she branded?

@Howling Wolf - I cannot get the CID for the SD card, because
in the 'adb shell' command, my command prompt says "error: device not found". But i want to know, can i still get the CID through another HTC desire phone ? and can i still update a stock rom with S-ON ? and how do i know if my phone is branded ?
I got my phone from Taiwan, a friend brought it over for me, and when i last checked it was on software version 1.37.921.1 .
@turbo_d - ill try that thnx
did you try installing the htc sync software then do adb devices
ye i did, i installed HTC sync to get the HTC drivers, but from what i noticed is that your phone needs to be "running" instead of being stuck on the white HTC boot screen or even the hboot doesnt pick up the device aswell >.<

@SAPPH1RE - i tried that but thanks for the help !
ok i acquired my CID through linux, but now its telling me
main version is older !
update fail.
any suggiestions ? my current software version of the phone is 1.37, which stock RUU should i be using ?
If you are on 1.37 you should be fine to continue with getting s-off and such. You don't need to upgrade or downgrade your ROM until you achieve s-off. And then you should upgrade to a custom ROM such as LeeDroid.

I fixed mine a few weeks back by doing a full wipe and then loading a fresh ROM
Thing is, i cant get my phone to start up, so i need to flash a stock rom, so that i can get my phone started and then do S-OFF. But it keeps telling me "Main Version is older!"
ive tried 2 roms already, 1.32 and 1.72 RUU. What could be the problem ?
thnx problem solved, the gold card wasnt done properly, so i re did everything.
thnx for the help guys !

I have hboot 0.93 and rooted using un-revoked. Now there's something wrong with the hardware and need to send it for servicing, so i need to un-root it. i tried using the ruu but to no success because of the hboot version i guess. Any idea?
thanks in advance.
Pretty sure you have to use the goldcard method, as your hboot version is newer than the one you are flashing.

Hi I have the same problem. im using 0.93 locked to t-mobile, I tried the goldcard on the only Ruu that matched which was non of the t-mobile ones and it failed customer ID error, I have also tried the downgrade method and it failed on CID check I have redone the goldcard several times and still no joy.
currently I have reloaded the t-mobile Rom recovery file from clockworkmod I backed it up on root before I flashed a custom rom and bellow is the version numbers im using atm.
hboot 0.93
Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Software 2.12.110.4
I also loaded stock Rom 2.2 with the latest software 2.29.405.2 and .5 using the same baseband and both errored out Im only a novice at this and Ive prob spent a day in total and a load of dead end results on forums, pulling my hair out on this as I dont understand some of the terminolgy at best of times and all I get is "like the above" yeah it will work doing this. I have tried everything and nothing works ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Just download and install the newest OTA-Update by T-Mobile. After this procedure your phone should be un-rooted.
Just tried that and it says signature check fail. so that didnt work either.

Yes, this error means, your are using the wrong RUU. You really have to use a RUU from T-Mobile, your software-number (2.12.110.4) clearly shows this. So in your RUU name has to be the combination "TMO_UK". And do not forget to compare the radioversion.
I did the exactly that ^^^ after finally getting the goldcard to work, it loaded through the whole process of loading the T-mobile uk ruu and now my phone is buggered I get a blank screen it vibrates on and the keys light up. now its flashed the whole thing, its wiped my recovery so I cant even enter blind and reload previous Rom.
I dont think I can fix this as Unrevolked wont work as phone is stuck in usb charge mode. Ive have no idea how to fix this as it seems very few people have 0.93 hboot with blank screen issue as well as getting 130 or 140 errors on every ruu exept the t-mobile ones that buggered my phone in the first place. All ive returned on a fix is load anouther exe ruu and reflash but I cant because it errors 130 cid on all of them.
plz help I have no idea what to do.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING PROPER RUU... GSM FOR GSM PHONE CDMA FOR CDMA PHONE
run the ruu but do not continue and do not close...
go to temp folder where files extracted and copy or move rom.zip to desktop
(tmp folder varies for windows operating system.. windows xp C:\documents and setting\(user folder)\local settings\tmp\(folder with letters and numbers.. just look in them) )
rename rom.zip PB99IMG.zip and move to root of sd card
boot into hboot;(With power off hold down volume button and press power; do not release volume down untill screen lights up).. wait for parsing file then press volume up to confirm install files.
it will reboot and continue do not pull battery!!
I had rooted my Desire about 1 year ago. Updated to GB 8 months ago (forgot which ROM). Friday my phone stopped Sync'ing all mail/twitter/fb etc. Figured it was time to upgrade to a new ROM. Since I was still S-On, I ran Revolution and got to S-Off. I then wanted to change to 4EXTRecovery, but couldn't get it to take. So tried to run the updated CWM and that didn't upgrade the Recovery version (2.5 something). I figured I would start over from RUU, so ran a RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe. It failed with an Error 130 Wrong Device. So I figured I need a Telstra version (branded phone), so ran RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Telstra_WWE_2.26.841.2_Radio_32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_150162_signed and I get an Error 140 bootloader. The phone is now at the black htc screen with 4 exclamation points. When I unplug the usb, it shows the following:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.00.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYMT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.14
Mar 29 2010,21:34:33
RUU
I think I can still AndroidFlash it, but it gives some FAILS in the log and doesn't change the above info when trying the AlphaRev hboot files.
Any suggestions? I have been searching for 2 days on ways to get this fixed. I can't get to fastboot or recovery, and ADB doesn't list the device.
Cheers
Download the downgrade.img from alpharev
Pull teh battery out of the device, replace.
Hold Back and press power
At the 4 triangles (you are actually in fastboot) Connect USB
Fastboot flash hboot c:\downgrade.img (or whatever the path\name is)
Once complete, pull battery again
Back and power again
Run Correct RUU
Also, if you want to flash a stock ROM, you can flash
RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread).exe
and you can download from HTC dev site, but first we wait news from you that you fixed the boot problem
When I run AndroidFlasher with the downgrade.img selected as bootlooder I get the following:
1. When clicking "I'm in fastboot", the window just sits there and nothing happens (waited 10 miutes).
2. Without "I'm in fasboot" ticked, it gives "Error your phone is not plugged in or drivers aren't installed" then "Error, your phone is S-On"

Hi there,
as I recently bought the HTC One X, I wanted to reinstall a Stock Rom to my old Desire. Unfortunately it won't work for some reason, as I always get an Error [110].
I have tried the following releases from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 :
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
(the phone used to be branded by o2 Germany, but I wanted to install a branding-free rom).
When I try to start the boot loader of the Desire now, I just get the HT screen with warning signs in all 4 corners. Please find attached a photo of the screen + a screenshot from the error message (for some reason it's in German, but you'll get the idea).
As I cannot access the actual hboot (CM7rev2 hboot was installed) I can't even install a "normal" rom.
As I don't necessarily need the phone right now it's not that urgent, but I hope you can help me anyway.
Cheers!
did you change hboot back to stock? I haven't done it first time and got the same problem. there is a solution but can't remember where.. try googling..

No, forgot about that, but now it seems like it's too late to do this, isn't it?
From my understanding, that state your phone is in is fastboot. That means you can probably flash the hboot downgrader from alpharev and run a RUU again.
via xda app
your phone is in fastboot mode at the HTC logo with 4 "!". Download hboot downgrader from alpharev and flash it before rerunning RUU.

but if you dont have S-Off, cant access to anything instead of fastboot.. from which i can only flash stock ruu's but no one of ruu's are installing successfuly.
so i cant flash hboot, recovery or anything else... that means that the only solution is to reach nearest JTag service...
hm... but if he forgot to downgrade then I assume that he was s-off. so it's doable. I was there... scared the p*ss out of me... ;-)

It won't work with revolutionary / alpharev, it's always stuck at "Waiting for device".

Its late and I'm tired so sorry if you've already tried this...
Install HTC software on your pc and android sdk (to get the drivers and fastboot)
Plug in your phone when its on the 4 !'s screen
fastboot flash alpharevs bravo_downgrade.img
unplug the phone, pull the battery, put it back in, turn it back on then plug it back in (or just reboot the boot loader with fastboot)
then try running this RUU http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4a4027/n/RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
If that doesnt work see what version it says you're when the ruu says what version you're on and what you're updating to and download the ruu with the same number as the one you already have and see if that helps.
