Is anyone else getting the below error when trying to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on 2.5.1.3? I just updated and this is the error I am getting:
Error while downloading from server. Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space!
Working onwifi, stock rooted via gfree method. Only think I found with search is someone who had this problem disappear after a few hours and his thoughts were a server error with the clockwork servers.
Anyone?
I'm also extremely frustrated with this issue
Mine didn't change even when I connected via wifi

I`m also getting errors, can`t install the new 2.5.1.8 Recovery!
I am having this problem. I just got a replacement Droid 1 and obtained root through Soup and Root. I can't restore a backup through ROM Manager, I can't do much of anything through ROM Manager. It says I have the current CW as I am using my same SD card from before, but I can't download/ install a new ROM, restore one, or anything. When I tried to flash CW to see if that was the problem I get the same error. I have internet connectivity and my phone is working fine other than that.
I have been going CRAZY over this! I just upgraded my captivate to 2.2 today, rooted it and now I've LITTERALLY been trying to install clockworkmod for the past 3 hours, I have bricked my phone so many times and had to restore back to the default froyo and re-rooted it so many times and I keep getting the same error.
I've been trying to find the clockworkmod manually so I can just install it without ROM Manager, anybody have any clue how I can do this? I have a samsung captivate.
Also, I paid for the Premium version of ROM Manager via PayPal however I have no idea how to "reinstall" the Premium version without re-paying the $3.99, anybody know how?

There is no 2.5.1.8 recovery for Vision, it's a bug in ROM Manager where it shows you versions that are available for all phones.
Yes,now saw your answer at development section
2.5.1.4 also not working, only 2.5.1.3 available at the moment!
Not working for my buddy and I either. Must be a server issue . I have 2.5.1.3
2.5.1.3 is the newest at the moment!
Seems to be back online today...
There have been a few updates to the ROM Manager app overnight to fix some of these issues, try updating via the Market if you've had problems.
Still the same version of Clockwork Recovery for Vision so far though.

My phone is rooted, but I'm still getting the error when trying to flash the ClockworkMod Recovery through ROM Manager
'An error occurred while flashing your recovery'
I originally had an older Clockwork Recovery loaded which I think was one of the reasons it had problems. I tried to use the program to flash to RA Recovery 1.7.0.1 and then back to the latest ClockworkMod, but it wont work.
I located the latest ZIP file for the recovery
recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-supersonic.zip
I had the RA-evo-v1.7.0.1 recovery loaded, tried to install the Clockwork zip through recovery mode. Originally it loads up fine, but then when I reboot, it reverts back to the RA-evo recovery. I'm still receiving the same error in ROM Manager as it is forcing me to select the option to Flash the Recovery.
Any help would be great. I apologize if this has already been covered in another thread. I found some people that had issues, but not the exact one I am having.

Sounds like to me that Rom manager is not getting superuser permission. Flash Su 2.1.zip or if u are using frozen eclair with jit. U need to flash 2.2 Su.zip. Has happened to me before.

When I go to the Superuser Permissions app, BusyBox and Titanium Backup both are shown, but Rom Manager isn't there. Should it be?
I'm still a newbie, so I'm not familiar with SU 2.1.zip, is that a superuser file to install I would assume?
I haven't had an issue with anything else except Rom Manager which is odd. I'm using the free version currently if that matters at all. I wanted to get this working with the free one first, and then if it goes well I was going to donate and get the full version.

Connect to a wifi and try again. That was an issue
for me the other day.
WiFi did it for me..
The above WiFi comment was right in my instance. I kept getting the error message until I enabled WiFi, then it went thru perfectly.
(Strange though...I don't know why that would affect it?)
Just wanted to add that wifi worked for me too. I don't get it either, but I'm happy.
Glad I found this, wifi worked. Strange
Sounds like a server side issue of some kind for which you would have had no control over.
I just rooted my evo 2.2V following the incredible instructions outlined on XDA. now i have ROM manager installed. I did a backup using the ROM manager app and also downloaded the CM6 ROM using the same app. butwhen i tryed to flash the rom it did not go through. The phone rebooted but gave an error even befour the process could start. I tried it again using the ROM manager with the same results. What could be the issue? the original ROM was downloaded by ROM Manager and is still in the memory and every time i try flashing it, it just comes up with an error and i have to restore the backup. Could this be due to a corrupted dowload or something else. Thanks in advance for the help guys.
I recently used ROM Manager to d/l and flash CM6, no issues. But now when I use it to backup the ROM, it freezes up on a f/c screen after the backup is completed and is rebooting. Replicated the issue twice to be sure. Have to pull the battery. So much for not having to do a real nand, lol.
Still searching for the right thread for my issue.
Update: Cleared d/l cache, flashed RA 1.8 then reflashed Clockwork, all better.

I'm not qualified to tell anyone how to do anything, but you can find directions on how to d/l and place the rom on the root of your sd card, then flash it with recovery. Search out flashing roms and I'm sure you'll get it done.
Clearing and reflashing clockwork on rom manager before you try might not do any harm as well. Never know. Read up, don't trust my word, lol.

Have you tried other roms besides cm6? You will need the .76 hboot with that one. If you are having issues flashing any rom, then you will meed to try unlocking your nand again with toasts Eng bootloader.

I doubt *flashing* clockwork would cause force closes. But you can always revert back to 2.5.0.1 or AmonRa and restore a backup. Check the "Legacy" area of ROM Manager.
I also had this problem as ROM manager kept informing me that a new version of clockwork mod was available. after "updgrading" I couldn't flash any new ROMs and got a truncated message that during the process that 3.0 series clockwork mod needed to have some files deleted due to changes with Gingerbread and something about google.... (sorry about the lack of good definition on this, but the text was truncated and I was freaking out at the time since I started getting stuck at the white HTC boot screen.) Eventually I was able to perform a recovery and finally flash back to clockwork 2.5 and everything is OK now.
Strangely, after doing this ROM Manager indicated that 2.5 CW was the current version... However, after a few hours I started getting the message to "upgrade" to 3.0 again. I'll just ignore that for now.
Does anyone know why 3.0 is not working for everyone?
I got this also, but i wasnt using CM...i was on a sense mod and was able to restore a different rom and went to the new amon-RA instead.
Maybe its something with CM specifically
It has to do with the scripts used in the update.zips. Most people are still using the olds version used in 1.5... Net said that he had to change it to the new scripts used in gingerbread which makes it not work with any updates or backups made prior. There is a topic on it in here where he explains it. He says to flash the 2.5 if it's not letting you update something.

They put up a new version of Clockworkmod recovery 2.6.0.1. This will work for all that had problems with the 3.0.XXX versions of the recovery. All the goodies of the 3.0XXX but with amend support so it will work with all roms.
All I can say is that Amon has never let me down. May want to check it out if you haven't already. Even their recent update was smooth as silk. No problems for me.
I had this happen to me too with a flash resulting in the white evo screen loop. I was able to flash to the amon ra 1.8 but I couldn't flash anything. So I upgarded to the new version of RA but am still not able to flash anything. I go into the white evo screen loop and then I have to pull the battery and nand a restore. Not sure what I need to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I updated my recovery to the gingerbread 3.0.0.5 & now I can't change my rom ... anyone know what I can do to fix this?

downgrade back to 2.5.x.x. only some ROMs support the new FS for 3.0.0.5
How do I downgrade?
Nevermind I'm a [email protected]$$ thanks
Nandroid
Anyone else having issues creating a nandroid backup? It freezes every single time. Going back to older version and trying again.
I am having some problems with 3.0.0.5 also and would like to downgrade but when I select an older version from "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" in ROM Manager I get "An error occured while flashing your recovery."?
I have downloaded an older version in the format of "recovery.img" if someone could tell me how to flash it properly?

Did you try downgrading to 2.5.1.2? That's what worked for me
Yeah, that's how I get the error message. Funny thing is that isn't the version I had before...It was like 2.5.0.7? And that is what I have downloaded on my pc in the form of recovery.img....just not sure on how to flash it if anyone might have a link to instructions that I wasn't able to find?
Not sure if this makes sense, but I too blindly accepted the update for CWM, and had difficulty. tried downgrading to oder version, but kept getting errors, then I couldnt even restore any backups I had made previously and everything was force closing on me.
Ended up being able to restore a desire Z rom backup I had made and then able to downgrade versions successfully. Otherwise I was stuck.
As far as flashing the recovery, no input.
So....I just used unrevoked and loaded custom recovery (being the 2.5.0.7) I had downloaded and .....It worked with out any other problems. Except for that rom manager says I still have the newer clockwork loaded in version info at top? Which means it will probably not prompt me to update.
I downgraded to 2.5.1.2 & I am running Inc rom 1.2 and everything runs great
I've tried all sorts of things to get the new CWM to work, but every time I try to do a backup it freezes when backing up System/irssi.
Same for everyone else? If so, maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Anyone having problems where backups freeze while generating the md5 sum? Seems like it does this about every other backup.
also downgraded to 2.5.1.2... running chingys rom and everythings runs perfect.
Hi all,
Bought myself a lovely new Desire HD yesterday and have managed to successfully root and all that fun stuff. Have reached the stage where I need to install the clockwork Mod Recovery through Rom Manager before installing a new Rom.
However, Rom Manager won't let me do this as it gives a message saying I need a 'stable internet connection' or that my sd card is full - both of which aren't true as my net connection is fine, and my sd card has 14 GB free. So I'm wondering if this is because I live in China and the Great Firewall is blocking Rom Manager from downloading the appropriate files.
Is there any other way in which I can get Clockwork Mod on my phone, or does it HAVE to be done through Rom Manager? I'd be grateful for any help people can give!

i assume you have s-off rite? well grab yourself a latest copy of the cwm .img and flash it from fastboot. (put your device in fastboot, and use adb with the fastboot flash recovery xxxxxx.img command)
to save you the trouble i grabbed the .img for cwm i downloaded off rom manager the other day its in the .zip
well, androhero, you're just the man!
All done and dusted - quickest fix to a problem I've ever had!
