Hopefully this is something thats simple to fix?!
I've just updated my Leedroid ROM to the latest one.
I made a batch Titanium Backup of "All User Apps and System Data" before I updated. I then wiped the device and installed the new ROM.
Once I'd ran through the basic setup, I went back into Titanium Backup and did a restore... which set my desktop back to what it was and put back all my text messages etc - and all my apps.
When I open the HTC Mail app, I just get the "choose a mail provider" screen where I can add an exchange or other type of account.
If I try to add an account (i have a hotmail and a btinternet account) it tells me the account already exists.
How do I get rid of these accounts so that I can start again?
Hopefully its something easy and I don't have to reflash?
Figured it out....

Is there any way to change google accounts in rooted froyo without a factory reset?
I'm doing this off memory so it may not be exactly right, but hopefully it takes you through
Go to Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync
Click Add account and select a Google account
Go through the set-up process, then return the previous page
Click on the old account and select "Remove account."
You should now be on the new Google account.
It says I cant do this because my account is tied in to other apps. Tells me I have to do a factory reset...
flashing a rom on my evo was very successful. My issue was restoring my contacts and apps so i thought i had to recover them. FAIL! So i guess it put the stock rom on top of the flashed rom. Yes, FAIL again, i know. So the phone was running slow as ****. I backed up alllll my apps again on titanium and my contacts. My question is, how do i get my contacts and apps again? I know this is probably easy but im stressed and cant think right now. Worked 13 hours and thought i damaged my phone.
I have always just let Google sync my contacts so if I change devices I can just log into my Google account and they get transferred automatically. As for backing up apps I don't. I don't trust it. I like to start fresh everytime and install manually that way there is less of a chance of conflicts. If u have paid apps they always show back in the market.
yea all im worried about are the contacts....i have no prob downloading those few apps over...
For contacts using google sync, for app I just back up list of them using app list backup.
wow. so only 1 contact is showing up. does this mean i have to recover all my old stuff just to get the contacts
Were your contacts saved in your Gmail?
Also did u make a nandroid before changing roms and losing everything?
yes they were synched with the gmail.....im on the gmail now trying to figure something out but i dont see anything......and yes i backed up everything before i cleared the phone up
Hope you didn't "clean contacts" any other way but while flash rom of because that would sync as well and delete them from gmail. For example: someone believed his contacts are backed up at gmail and he chose to delete them from phone... then phone sync with gmail and "update " this "new phonebook".
If future you can also backup phone using:
1. some apps
2. or simple way by - open your contacts > chose menu > Import / Export > Export to SD card (restore them same way while choosing Import).
Hmm I would do a wipe then restore your nandroid backup you already have. Then make sure all your contacts are synchronized in your Google account. One thing i have always done is export contacts to a file and keep on pc just incase i lose them. After that do all your wipes and flash the rom of your choice.

Forget Sync now, looks like they are gone . Did you manually delete any of them while "cleaning" your phone?
I would suggest booting into recovery flashing CALKULINS_FORMAT_ALL.zip & reflashing your rom. Contacts should be synced with google otherwise try mybackup pro. For apps I always suggest Titanium Backup. With the amount if rom flashing I do I find the donated version worthwhile. Good luck!
Hi everyone, i am very annoyed because everytime i flash a new rom google restores all of my settings and apps from my previous phone (hd2) and i haven't found a way to disable this feature, can anyone help, btw the feature backup/restore data from google accont doesen't work
you
You'd better change you email xP
After flashing a new ROM and when prompted to sign in to Google, skip this part for now (there is normally a skip function, or you can try pressing home or back button).
From there go to your "Settings">"Privacy" and Un-check "Back up my data" and "Automatic Restore".
Then you are free to go to "Settings">"Accounts & Sync">"Add Google Account", to get your Contacts, Gmail and Browser synced.
The scheme with the signing in after unchecking seems to be working but i'm still wondering how to make the information on the google servers go away

i was getting mad every time my phone started downloading all those app on its own thank god i have a solution now
Does it still download every app when you first sync up? I thought it just loaded contacts and calender/docs and probably drive stuff now.
The last time I did a full wipe it didn't do this for me. That would be a nightmare because every app I have ever downloaded is in my market library when I got to play.google.com on my laptop. If anything I would like to trim that down and remove selective apps. There are some that are just rubbish now that I would never use. Just downloaded to try for example.
it would be really nice if yo could manage your backup data, select what yo want to restore like wireless settings or wallpapers or ringtones
Although you can not get to actually see the data, have a look HERE On the point of disabling and deleting the back ups through ADB command prompt

I know this is an old thread, but here is some info from the docs about "bmgr"
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/bmgr.html
Warning! When backup is disabled, the current backup transport will explicitly wipe the entire active data set from its backend storage. This is so that when a user says they do not want their data backed up, the Backup Manager respects that wish. No further data will be saved from the device, and no restore operations will be possible, unless the Backup Manager is re-enabled (either through Settings or through the above bmgr command).

This implies disabling backup deletes all backed up files on the server.
I've decided to play a bit with ROMs.
I've purchased the Titanium Backup Pro and made a full backup of everything (apps and system data which is shown in green in Ti_Pro).
Including "Accounts". First in the list in this screenshot:
I restored everything to AOKP ROM (m5). But right after the restore I didn't have anything in my Settings -> Accounts. I had to start each restored app (Email, Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn etc.) manually and enter username/password to get my Contacts synced and to get particular account appear in Accounts.
Just after that I had all the accounts ready.
So...
What I'm doing wrong.
How to get everything in place after migrating between ROMs?
PS: No problems with my Apps and App data. Just the accounts now concern me.
Thanks!
I've just lost ALL of my calendar events.
My phone was not setup to automatically sync so I manually synced yesterday in order to back it up.
As it had been a while since the last time, Android told me that there were too many deleted items. I followed a fix I found online, (Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Calendar Storage > Clear data) and then seconds later was prompted with a system message about deleting these items too, which I did.
I've now gone to my calendar on my phone, and ALL events are gone. Is it at all possible to restore my calendar? I use it for everything and will now miss important events if I can't get them back.
I've tried Spanning's Undelete but that only seems to work for individual, manually deleted items. Can I recover the cleared data in a similar way to undeleting a file on a PC?
:crying:
