Hey guys just wanted to ask if it's possible to hack the display drivers of the defy to be able to register unlimited multi touch inputs...At the moment it's only capable of registering 2 fingers at the same time tested with a multitouchtester app. But for some games like zeonia it would be nice to have more than 2 finger tracking. Any one can point me to a good thread? thanx
Try to edit build.prop. There you'll find an option called:
ro.product.max_num_touch=2
change to higher values. Although I doubt anything more than 5 is impossible for all current devices, hardware limitations that is.

where is the build.prop located?
Why don't you use Google?
I'm new to that forum, so I can't paste any links, but question "build.prop android" gives you an answer in the first link.

thank you for your precious first post... it helped me a lot...
ok i just seted ro.product.max_num_touch to 3 but it didn't changed the fact of maximum 2 points at the same time. Maybe the restriction is deeper in the system or in the driver...

Hardware? Impossible more than two touch points?
I don't think it's hardware limitation. A capacitive touch screen is multitouch or not. I don't see how it can be only 2 point via hardware limitation.
My guess is that it's driver limitation, as often whis this stuff.
well......i think it is software limitation.
i've known Apple has the licence that 3~5 point touch.
And In Korea, someone suceed in 5 point touch by editing driver in LG OptimusQ.
(but that device has snapdragon)
News here?
Hi,
someone said Motorola uses same branded Digitizers as Apple does (is that right!?).
And well could be possible with Froyo we get real Multitouch but if not... hey better as no multi touch isnt it?
It doesn´t work
Hello Forum, my First Entry here...
I´ve Rootet my Defy, changed the numer in Buil.prop from 2 to 3 and to 5 but it don´t works... :'( Has anybody an answer??
Thanks, Nickel-Bag
Please, read the thread.
Now Tap Tap Revenge is out, any clues on more multitouch points? Can't play Tap Tap in Extreme mode with only 2 fingers! D:
I thought that when you upgrade to Froyo this problem would be resolved = /
is it really a hardware limitation?
afaik it's not a hardware limitation, it is more about whether the kernel supports full multitouch or not. so maybe with froyo we'll get full mt (fingers crossed). btw, does the 2.1's kernel have full mt support at all?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
It could be both hardware and software. There's an upper limit of both, and it's of the lowest denominator that dictates how many inputs are there.
There's a torn down here, see if you can make out what the actual parts are...

(The chips are still under a heatsink through).
Maybe we can run a dmesg shortly after bootup and see any info available there.

Hi everyone, I just stumbled onto this by mistake.
Are you fed up of the poor quality for the backgrounds in tf3d.
Just do as I did by accident and I hope it works for everyone.
1. Use photoshop create a clear image 480 X 800 pixels
2. Save this image as a .png file (Interlaced) - (Example Clear.png)
3. Transfer this to your HD (Storage card also can)
4. install mun-background4allpages.cab
5. On tf3d settings tab, use "Home Wallpaper" and select that .png file as your background.
6. Soft reset your HD.
If your background turns white after the soft reset, then you have succeeded.
7. Now you can set any picture of 480 X 800 pixels or larger as your background without any loss in quality. (I recommend 800 X800 pixels)
**Note: The default background is automatically changed to your selection every time you set a new background. I have no idea at all why but it is a positive side effect as far as i am concerned.
Please also note that this is something I have stumbled upon while playing with my HD,
I don't know how to undo what I have done !
For your info, the details of my machine:
My ROM is not a cooked ROM. It is the OEM ROM.

No need to comment on him like that. Perhaps he found a solution to it by doing that? And so what if he didn't, it isn't a method anybody stated before and atleast he made the effort to share it with us.
Besides, none of this is exactly ''scientific''.

Kudos to you Ivanhou, can't try your method atm as I'm on the Titanium interface. Hope it works for some people.

If he is saying that it worked for him why do you still keep claiming that his solution may not work because it is not just a clear png file? If you dont have nothing better to say then don't say anything. His solution might work for some other people.
Will this trick work for the latest Manila? I assume not since you're using stock ROM and background4allpages.cab.
Damn, the other methods are too much stuffing around, great find though, thanks for sharing.

Hi
It won't appear because it is clear.
Just soft reset ur HD and the screen should turn white.
then you can set any images you like and see the result.
good luck.
I regret to inform after following instructions completely...it didn't work. But thanks for sharing though. When I set the picture i thought it was clearer but when I went to album in touch flo, brought up the picture, then clicked the home button, you could see the sharpness go worse.
Lets keep trying though, I don't believe for one minute this phone is not capable of displaying hi res pics. Its just a bugger to figure out lol.
Any advice - I've searched the forum and can't find how to fix annoyances with my standard ROM Touch Pro 2 with HTC's Win Mo 6.5.
1. How do I get weather to update more frequently?
2. I'm mid-summer where I am now which means the sun is up and bright well before 7am. Why the @#&* does my Pro2 insist on showing me a moon until well gone 8am?! The weather app doesn't seem to be sunrise/sunset aware for each location and it seems to think we're all stuck in the middle of some Siberian winter all year around!
Mark
by defualt its set to update every 3 hours if you have auto update enabled.
If you want it to update more frequently use a registry editor and navigate to
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\
Scroll down to
Weather.AutoDownloadInterval
and edit the DWord Value which is in minutes
I just set mine to 45.
btw i just found out how to do this by searching the forum for "weather update interval" so try to search next time

Well, the moon is often still in the sky, even if the sun is out!
Thanks for the pointer fone_fanatic.
Unfortunately that tweak doesn't work for me - the registry key didn't exist, but even creating it made no difference. I see others on the forum (I've found them now I know what I'm looking for) have the same problem.
Btw I did try searching ... but didn't think of that phrase. Which now I think of it is pretty obvious but at the time I tried several other that I thought would point me in the right direction!
You're right - xda-developers is a great forum for solutions and I've found many here. Problem is using honing in your problem on your phone when there's such a vast database.
Anyway - thanks again. Annoying that I can't fix this though!

Make sure you are going to HKCU and not HKLM or the such. Setting that has worked for me for making it update properly for 5 different versions of TouchFlo.

Hi and thanks for the advice, but I have checked and triple checked.
I note plenty of people on the forum are having problems with this so I'm not the only one. Strange that HTC didn't allow a setting for this within the interface somewhere.

TouchFLO 3D's weather data seems to come from AccuWeather. (This might vary by the ROM and its intended country though.) Maybe HTC didn't want to risk overloading AccuWeather's servers with too many users updating too frequently.
As for the sun/moon ratio, I don't know where these guys had their heads. My location doesn't change from sun to moon until 9PM, even though by 7PM it's already dark.
Hey guys I noticed this this morning while doing a calculation. I am using the stock calculator that came with my Droid Incredible. I've not done any rooting or anything like that. When I enter 365.2 - 358.8 I get the total of 6.3999999999 instead of 6.4 like I should.
Is anyone else getting such calculations?
I've not been able to reproduce this using any other combination of numbers, although occasionally it will produce a something like this: instead of saying 3.4 it will say 3.4000000000. It doesn't do it to every value, but occasionally.
Any thoughts?
Wow, that is just FREAKY!! Same thing on mine! Guess I shouldnt use it for math class huh!
It just has something to do with how computers calculate math. Almost all computers will have problems with some calculations, for example, if you go to Google.com and type in something like 1-.9999999 or 999999999999999-999999999999998 it will give you a wrong answer. But yeah, lol, I wouldn't use this phone on tests or homework unless you don't have anything else around.

Well for what it's worth, 6.3999999~ is the same thing as 6.4
That is true about the rounding. I was actually heavily tempted to remove the stock calculator if I found find a better version on the Market.
Oh, and just for comparison sake, the stock calculator on the Moto Droid displays it correctly as 6.4
RealCalc Scientific Calculator in the Market works great.. and it gives you that 6.4 you are looking for..
On a serious note, I use handy calc, it's really nice and can graph functions too
The stock calc apparently has no way to save to memory... Kind of weird even for a very basic calculator.
If it does via some weird keystroke, I have never figured it out.
Try doing a trig function on the calculator...
Its USELESS.
Well, if you've memorized radian conversions, you can possible use it, but, its like needing an abacus to use a calculator...not worth it.
Why they didn't set it to use DEGREES for angles is beyond me...and there doesn't appear to be an option of switching it either.
Any of you geniuses figure out a way to make it work, ....
...or is the phone's calculator just a fake feature, and I should just down load one that works?

Divide all results by zero.
LOL
That's tooooo funny. Makes you wonder if a simple calculator program can't do that math correctly, what else is going on behind the scenes.
Could this be a clue to the mysterious battery drainage problem under Android?
So here's what I got from HTC when I filed a ticket over it:
***********************
Dear Teesh,
Thank you for contacting us about this problem in the calculator application. I actually had one other email about this with another person several months ago, and what we determined was that it was an Android issue. I tested the math on one each of every Android phone we have and was able to recreate the issue. I also, when I was not at work, tested it with a friend's Android device that was not an HTC phone; same result. It appears to be something in the way that the base Android calculator is written; I sent the information up to the proper departments to see what could be done about it, but once the request goes up I don't get any direct response to it. I will again send up the information just in case; I remember posting on the code.google.com page about it when it happened, although I can't find that post now. Interestingly, if the remainder is greater than or equal to .5 it will show the correct answer. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, and I hope that it is something resolved in the near future.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 10USCW39ENA000982.
Sincerely,
Philip

HEllo i woud like to install buttonremapper on XDandroid frx06 but in wont let me because i think it's not full rooted! how can I install it?!
Huh? Guess I'll have to try it on my RAPH110 to see if that is the device you are talking about. Not sure what you mean by "not fully rooted" as if it wasn't fully rooted, I wouldn't be able to install half of the apps/programs I have on there...
At best, it might be a device compatibility issue but this XDAndroid not fully rooted deal is hogwash to me(IMO).
[on another tangent]
Don't just say stuff like that unless you know for a fact that is the problem. It makes your problem less likely to be solved by the devs that work on the project and possibly from others that would otherwise be willing to help. And if you don't care one way or the other, why post about it?
FRX06 is most certainly 'rooted'. Titanium Backup wouldn't work otherwise...
I looked at that app, and I don't think we can use that app. You can remap buttons in the rootfs, which native Android devices do not have...

Question: Are you dumb?!
@arrrghhh
Well, maybe you can help me in another way. My problem is the following: my qwerty keyboad has the "A" & "F" letter unfunctional and in windows i had rebind them to other keyz. Does exists a solution for this problem on XDAndroid?!
Not really but I was being a tad sarcastic... I'm goint to take a stab in the dark and say you didn't catch it. Oh well, I don't suppose you want to tell us what device you are attempting to run this on(which was my main question and yes, I have seen other device owners post here). So, there's no way I can be of further assitance, my friend :enter sad face of choice here:
Additionally, you should take Arrrghhh's suggestion to remap the buttons in the rootfs... No idea how to help you in that arena either
Yea, you'd have to make your own keymap basically. It's doable, read thru F22's rootfs thread - there's tips on how it all works. Bust open the rootfs by bind mounting it on a Linux box and see what's inside. I believe the kl files are the ones you'll need to modify, just make your own and reference it in the startup.txt.

@R^7Z leave the sarcasm for other that have a nice life! It's not easy to buy a new keyboard when the price of one piece is half of my income/mounth. :|
"To each their own" my friend! I hope you find the good in the day...
Sorry, your situation is pretty unique. Perhaps there's something simple missing why it can't remap buttons on the fly, but I'm not aware of what. I would look into it deeper, but again - because of your unique situation I don't think it would really be worth it.
Just installed it in Gingerbread (alpha) and it FC'd when I attempted to run it but haven't had a desire to downgrade to FRX06 yet...
I might consider it later when I actually have the time...
Hi member,
Wonder, if any of you have noticed!!!
I have noticed strange thing with my wave 8500.
The call volume or you can say the caller volume on the other side sometimes is very loud and clear and in some calls it sound low.
I wonder if this is a software bug as does not seems to be hardware issue.
any advise on the said issue would be appreciated.
I think I got same issue. Probably other AMSS version would fix it, though never cared enough to try few. If you do - try flashing various AMSS from different software (I'd avoid mixing bada 1.2 and 2.0 AMSS and vice-versa, however these *might* work aswell) and please let me know if you figure anything working good. Bada release update might be the key aswell, I don't know for sure.

The same is with me also, it does not happen always. Sometimes the call is very loud and clear and sometimes it is so thick and sometimes low.
I was also thinking it could be network issue but then i noticed the same on the other phone with my sim card and it was found ok.
Hence, it an issue with OS.
Like Rebollos suggested we should try couple of AMSS files.
Therefore, I request members to upload different region AMSS files to test.
Please while uploading do not forget to comment, whether or not you are facing the problem

You are actually interested enough to write. Instead of doing so - you could simply download few ROM packs from samfirmware, try various AMSS and then report results, XDA, unfortunately/luckily, is not the place when everyone are sitting and waiting to help you.

Rebellos, I think the situation demands the smart work not the hard work here. i do not see point here downloading 20 Roms (entire pack) for just a simple AMSS file.
we on XDA have members from all over the world who are using different kind of roms and it is not wrong in asking favour for AMSS files here .I must stress that we are here to help each other.
