I did backup via clockwork, and i have a few files:
.android_secure.img
boot_.img
cache.img
data.img
recovery.img
system.img
nandroid.md5
can i restore only sms?
Thanks!
Yes.
You can unyaffs the file data.img then copy the data files for the SMS app to the data partition.
Or
Make another nand backup, restore your original backup then use something like titanium to backup the SMS data, then restore the second nand backup and restore the titanium backup you made.
ok, the first is method. Can you be more specific? i extracted the data.img j I don't know which file's are for the sms app?? thanks
I don't know, a quick search on Google came up with '/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/ databases/mmssms.db'. Try that.
Thanks for help. solved
Can you explain in what way? Thanks
Solved, just copy directories in data/data/android.providers.telephony.
Thank You!!! Yousaved my life!!!
Restore SMS from mmssms.db with adb
Hi all,
Can anybody help me how to restore mmssms.db and also the contacts2.db? I read I can do it with adb, but as I tried, it sayd Permission Denied.
Can anybody write me a step-by-step guide how can I restore them for sure?
Thanks a lot.
Additionally, I tried Titanium, it doesn't see these files, so that is why is went for adb.
Please help!
Thanks a lot.

You need to use root explorer or something like that.
Thanks for your quick reply. Any details? So you saying that I can't just restore the files with adb?

Well hey guys,
Basically the story goes like this. I nandroided before installing cm7 and before that I made a Titanium backup to dropbox and sd, i was in a rush so deleted the sd backup. Installed CM7 and restored apps only to find out I was missing like 200 or so, and they weren't in titanium, I tried restoring my nandroid but it seems boot.img is corrupted and in unyaffs it says bad file descriptor. It starts to extract some folder, but not the crucial app folder! And due to this weird error it always crashes CWM and so I cannot restore. I've tried all that I can find on the internet, unyaffs, ext2explore but I don't have linux. Do you guys reckon you could give me a few pointers? I've managed to recover a list of what was installed because they're in the data folder, but that takes time :/
Thanks!
Hi,
is there a tutorial or something on How to extract parts of a Nandroid backup?
My problem is, i've got a non-booting nandroid backup but i know all the data is in there.
I've already restored "data" while an other ROM and backuped all SMS.
Now i just want a couple of Apps with their data and I'm not sure how i should try this.
Either i can restore the apps with data from the nandroid, or i Install the apps on a fresh rom and restore the data of the Apps, whatever is easier.
Thanks in advance
Timo
Anyone got an idea?
Hey, schau einfach mal hier vorbei. Im thread ist eig alles beschrieben
For others:
Download this file (unyaffs.exe) > http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZLBGPOB6
copy it to the folder of your nandroid backup (*.img files)
drag a *.img onto the unyaffs.exe
wait
enjoy
Danke!
Yes i already have Unyaffs and extracted all the files, but I don't really know where the "App Data" is stored.
For example, how would i restore the Savegame of a game.. where is this App-Data saved?
Is it in the data.img? under Data\com.applicationname?
Im not sure but I think it's in \data\data

Jep, i think that's it.
Thanks again,
So I copied my not-booting nandroid image, extracted it with unyaffs (the data.img)
picked the data-files i wanted and pushed them back via ADB.
For example
adb push C:\HTC\net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog /data/data/net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog
worked like a charm, next time better save the stuff with titanium
Hello!
I S-OFFed my phone and then I rooted it in order to try an ICS ROM. Everything went smooth. I put 4ext and then made a backup. Then I put the ICS ROM and now I want to revert back to my backup.
Sadly, I can't. I don't know why. Can any1 help?! All off the backup-ed files are in the folder: 2012-09-30.21.57.56_GRI40. The folder contains the following files:
.android_secure.yaffs2.img
boot.img
cache.yaffs2.img
data.yaffs2.img
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
system.yaffs2.img
There is no zip file and I dont know how to restore? The Restore function doesn't work, install from sdcard either (it searches for zip). What to do? Please, I want my backed up files!
4ext is ver 1.0.0.5 RC3. I have done full wipe before ICS ROM and before I tried restoring. Please, help!
PS: Or atleast give me link to read how to do it myself, I can't seem to find what I am looking for :/ This backup is really important for me!

create a folder on ur sdcard named-
clockworkmod
and put ur
2012-09-30.21.57.56_GRI40
backup file in the clockworkmod folder and then try restore in recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire
Just tried it - not working Still can't find any backup. 2012-09-30.21.57.56_GRI40 is not a file but a folder with many files in it. It is not a zip. Could that be a problem?
PS: OK, solved it!
First, to say - the phone stopped booting into OS - it went straight to HBOOT when I press the power button. So I made a new backup. Then I copied my update files instead of the ones I created last. Then using advanced restore, I restored everything one by one (without cache).
It worked
Thanks for the advice, jmcclue, it helped a lot!
Thank's

No i dont think its possible to manually restore it , Rrather you should have followed steps of Backup restore take it service center pay it and get it replaced
or out 100% there is 1% chance to save by flashing proper Stock Firmware .
how to restore .tar.gz EFS backup?
By the way same thing happened to me and I have .tar.gz file type as backup. This backup was taken using Aroma while installing rom. How can I restore this backup please?
Thanks in advance,
Solution
Ok I done it with help of "wenousch" from czech forum.
Solution that helped:
1. a) flash Stock rom via Odin. ( Auto Rebot F. Reset Time a Nand Erase All )
b) flash Stock rom via Odin again but !!!without!!! NAND ERASE ALL.
1.5 IMEI check ( false 00sillyness)
2. Root
3. deleting all files in efs floder with root read/write premissions ( using root explorer )
4. adding files from backed up floder to (now empty efs floder in root directory )
5. restart of phone
done - I have good IMEI and I am able to make a calls.
Hi all,
I have both a TWRP and a Titanium backup from my phone at an earlier version of my ROM.
I've since done full data format and install so I have lost my MMS/SMS messages.
I did not use another utility to back them up at all.
Does anyone know where in the file system these are stored or how I might be able to restore them from my Ti or TWRP backups?
I've tried doing a TWRP restore to the earlier ROM version but messages was still empty. I've tried doing a full restore and individual restores of dialler storage in TiBU etc but so far have had no luck in restoring the messages.
Thanks in advance

If you're using nougat, I believe the location is
/data/user_de/0/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/
Then it's the mmssms.db file you need.
When I do a clean flash, I always use the backup function that is built in to export messages to sd card.

Thanks for that info That appears to be the correct location in my case.
Previous to Nougat seems to have been in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
I restored the whole com.android.providers.telephony folder from the backup as it also contains the pics from attachments. Initially after a the first bootup messages was still empty, so you need to reboot again and they will be restored.
I'll also make sure I backup messages using the inbuilt backup feature in future.
