How to backup ROM before flash?
I think the technique is written in the big storage hack instructions.
Not sure, can't remember exactly how now from my memory!
V
Hi,
Backup is fairly simple:
- get ntrw.exe & romugrade.exe from the ftp
- get a SD-card > 64MB
- make backup of everything you want to keep from your magician & SD-card. everything will be wiped!!
- fully charge your magician
- uncheck usb connection in Act.sync on your PC
- put your magician in Bootloader (camera & power & soft-reset at the same time for a few seconds) wait till screen fades & reads 'serial v1.0x'. Screen is very dark since backlight is of.
- connect usb, now the screen reads 'usb v1.0x'
- start romupgrade on your pc
- pick the magician connection in the listbox, wces something I belief
- now a screen pops up
- type d2s in this screen
- follow progress on pc & magician
- wait till checksum finishes
- get SD from the magician & put it into a cardreader. DON'T FORMAT!!!
- put ntrw in C:\
- start a command window
- type on commandline: ntrw read myrom.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
- follow progress
- error at the end is normal
- finished
- reset your device & restore backup
- Playtime

USE MMC CARD ...
After ntrw.exe xxx x:
file "xxx" = 501 MB - may be something wrong ?
Or in "romupdate.exe" i must type :
d2s 80000000 84000000 ?
The backup of your mmc/sd-card is the size of your card. Ntrw makes a raw copy of it. d2s has nothing to do with it. You can cut the file around 64MB, there's a marker in it, though I still haven't looked it up & don't know it by hard (@ work now). It's easy to find when you got a rom-image from the ftp & have a copy of hex-edit @ http://www.hhdsoftware.com/hexeditor.html

Windows Mobile 2003 - ROM Editor,
" The following passwords were tried 921211, HTC but
none seemed to work. if you are sure this is a WM 2003
update file you can try to enter an alternate password "
- - - - - -
What is it... ?
I don't know password...
seg_r,
Where does this error come from, I have no f. idea what you're talking about, sorry.
M
OK, How to unlock EXT ROM on Qtek s110 ?
S110 = Magician isn't it?
Then can only be made visible (on PPC), BIG Storage hacked (via PC) or changed with a tool like bal666 made (via PC). The second & third option requires a rom-update the first only a hard-reset & just before the customization starts a soft-reset.
M
So I need to backup ROM, Edit ROM, and Flash s110 ...
->
After backup, File 501 MB...
->
Cut File around 64 MB
->
Start Editing tool "Windows Mobile 2003 - ROM Editor"
->
"Windows Mobile 2003 - ROM Editor" say to me:
" The following passwords were tried 921211, HTC but
none seemed to work. if you are sure this is a WM 2003
update file you can try to enter an alternate password "
-> How to open ROM to edit, to delete some programs from EXT ROM, and Flash s110 ...
This 'Windows Mobile 2003 - ROM Editor' is it from bal666? If so contact him pls. I haven't got any personal experience in rom editing so far. I went for BS & that skipped all editing.

During replacement ROM v.3.29 on v3.32 WWE.Build 06 the message has appeared "checksum error!" then the device "has hung" and more to load it was not possible...
At attempt of restoring with usage of buttons "record" + "reset" and "camera" + "record" + "reset" in a top of the display part there is a text - " 2006/08/28 09:47:01 " in the bottom of an empty advance - bar and in one second the display is filled by a pseudo-graphics (triangles, point …)
Correctly it is possible enter only the mode - " Photo+Record+Joistick_Action - USB Console mode ", thus there is a text:
Galaxy FlashRom Update
2006/08/28 09:47:01
Cpu version: PXA27x
USB Cable is connected
And in the bottom of an empty advance - bar.
Win XP at connection informs that "the Device USB is not authenticated "...
Please prompt as to restore service capability P525 with usage of this mode?
The service centre Asus in my city is not present...
Download the official ROM v3.32 in the Download section in Asus Website.

Try the Sorg's Asus Simple rom with 84.5MB of Storage Space with instruction about how to update.
Read the topic here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281393&highlight=simple+rom
and you can download the Simple Rom from here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/1238374/ASUS_P525_v3.32.WWE.simple.build.01.BLU.zip.html
works fine with me... so far
Unfortunately, bootloader has some strange bug which prevents to update ROM through usual procedure if OS ROM image is less than 32MB.
so you have to update it through bootloader instead through autorun.exe.
1) unpack everything to root of MiniSD
2) insert MiniSD to P525. Connect USB cable.
3) press "Camera" button and while holding it press shortly and release "reset". device will boot into ROM update mode.
4) release "camera" button.
5) follow on-screen instructions
P.S: if updater tells "incompatible language" then restart device and execute ASUS.UnlockLangID.exe. After that repeat from step 3.
P.P.S: If bootloader doesn't start update and tells "galaxy .nb0" not found then your bootloader is too old and doesn't support this method of update. Download latest ROM from ASUS site and update it. After that repeat this instruction again from step 1.
Sorg
Be careful, read the instructions and of course whatever you do yo, you do it an your own risk.
Hi boys
I have a question for you..
Can I load the T-Mobile Dash Rom on my HTC S620Pro unlocked?
I love the T-Mobile Dash Home screen theme and i f it's possible I want run it on my HTC S620 Excabilur
Thank you in advance for the answer
Yep but you might need to CID unlock (obtain SuperCID) which costs £20 ($39). If you just want the home screen just ask someone for it and copy it on. I would post it but I currently have the WM6 Dash ROM on my S620 and it probably doesn't have the home screen you mention.
I was wondering if anyone could help me.I have a HTCs620 and I am trying to flash it with the T-Mobile WM6 Rom.I have had the unit CID unlocked with IMEI Check and still I get the invalid model ID (something like that)I read something about upgrading the bootloader but where do I find this file for the HTC Excalibur......Any other suggestions since I have tried evereything else............
hope this helps

please post after a reply if its ok !!!1

There are different versions of Excalibur EXCA2xxx and ECXA1xxx
You could write an email to imeicheck and they will give you this solution regarding the invalid vendor id:
Tools you need:
===============
- HexWorkshop from http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/-
the ROM of your choice
- Winzip or Winrar
- a valid UNL file for YOUR phone
Preparation:
============
a) install HexWorkshop and Winzip or Winrar on your pc
b) in explorer on pc, RIGHT click on the ROM of your choice and use: "Extract files to folder ..." from conext menu Now it will unpack all the files
c) in the new folder you will have ONE file like "HRUU_signed.NBH" (*.NBH) RIGHT click on the .NBH file and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from context menu
d) You'll see on the 5th row EXCA20000 ==> !!! make it EXCA***** (5 stars) and save the file
e) Now RIGHT click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from conext menu
Search for word "BsaD5SeoA" (without quotes, case sensitive)
You'll find it around address 0x3FC6C ==> !!! replace "BsaD5SeoA" with "IMEICHECK" (without quotes) and save the file
ROM-Update:
===========
1) take SIM card and SD card OUT of the phone
2) Connect the phone running windows ce to the pc (normal way).
3) Completely Unlock your phone using our unlocker <== REALLY IMPORTANT
4) After phone is unlocked run unlocker (again) BUT when the unlocker ask for UNL file, remove the USB cable from the phone THEN press "Cancel" on the unlocker select file window (unlocker will close on PC). NOTE: The screen on the device will not show something usefull when in this mode. Most probably it is complete WHITE. !!THIS IS NORMAL!! Don't touch phone, let it like it is!
5) After you closed the unlocker, attach usb cable again (phone has still white screen)
6) start (the modified) ROMUpdateUtility.exe
7) when update finished and device started you will get a message: "Data Crashed, contact service provider" (!NO PANIC!) ==> Simply fix this problem by running the unlocker again and this time select the key file normal way (full unlock process again). In case you have problems please indicate the step letter/number which is not clear/not working for you. If you REALLY do it STEP by STEP exact like described you will have no problem.

Hello,
Thanks for the great guide.When I get to the part to look for the bsa file in the hex editor program I cant seem to find it.Also, when I save the hex editied files do I save them to the folder were I extracted the Rom.I tried to run the utility without editing the bsa file (because I could not find it) and when I tried running it after pulling the usb cord it gave me the error message Invalid Update Tool.Do you know of anyone who can edit the T-Mobile WM6 Rom for me even if I have to pay for it.....
One last question...the rom I am supposed to edit with hex editor is it the new Rom (t-Mobile WM6) or the bootloader upgrade Rom..
Thanks in advance!!

i just got scared my self when i got data chrashed, but a few minutes later everythinbg worked well.
iff you want to change anything in the rom you ll need appunlocker.
4 wifi go to connection manager and push 3
wifi is activated.
just 1 thing, youre from uk, best thing is to backup keyboard settings.
its arround in this forum what it is exactly, i forgot this and now some keys are mapped wrong (like @ £ !)
so back this up, and i could use a copy of it
im scared does this work anybody??
I have no idea why the "preparation steps" was necessary ( post #2 ) with all the HEX editing ...
WHY ???
~~~
for me ... I did the paid CID service and then followed this method ... works fine without all that messing around with HEX editing ...etc ( except for the keyboard region setting )
So my Yoga 11 has been laying around for some years now and usage has been getting worse mostly because of the included, no longer supported, Internet Explorer.
But when I found that a working release of Windows 10 ARM32 for the Surface RT was around, I decided to go rogue and install it on my Yoga 11.
I adapted the tutorial by @kephax and @Zaveraj to the needs of the Yoga and added own experiences https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-8-rt/rt-general/tutorial-install-windows-10-arm32-t4052035 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82022643&postcount=41
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome
**WORKING** Windows 10 arm32 on Lenovo Yoga 11
As usual, disclaimer: For dead devices, the author is not responsible. Perform all actions at your own peril and risk. At the moment, the topic with flashing is young and everything is done manually. Perhaps later the process will be partially or fully automated. In the meantime ...
Let's go !!!
Documents and instructions
1. Firmware is a potentially dangerous process and requires some accuracy. Always have a recovery disc on hand created from the official kit from Microsoft!
2. In order to facilitate the installation process, in addition to the USB flash drive, you will need a USB keyboard and an USB bluetooth/wifi adapter.
3. Windows 10 on ARM is basically functional. The drivers for Surface 1 work fine, the Bluetooth driver for Surface 2 has some problems. The store mainly supports the installation of ARM applications. Office 2013 is fully operational and even has a Russian language pack.
4. The image is not meant for the Yoga 11, therefore Keyboard, Sound, Wifi, Bluetooth, camera, Touchscreen? are not working in the installation process. After a 'magic' windows update in the end, they do work.
Create recovery drive using the existing Windows RT 8.1 installation:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17422/windows-8-create-usb-recovery-drive
1. Clear an USB drive (8gb+ advised)
2. Open 'Create a recovery drive' on the Windows RT installation
3. Follow the instructions on the screen
Restore the laptop to version 8.1 according to this instruction :
1. Ensure that the Yoga is completely turned off and connected to the charger. Connect the recovery disk to the USB port.
2. Press and hold the volume up and windows button on the screen. Press and release the power button.
3. Hold volume up and windows button until a black screen with a console like appearance appears, then you may release
4. When prompted, select English and a keyboard layout.
5. Select "Troubleshooting", then select "Recover from a Drive", in my case the last USB device was the correct one, It may take some tries which one you need. If you are prompted for a Bitlocker recovery key, select "Skip this drive" at the bottom of the screen. Next, select “Just remove my files” and the last “Reinstall”. The laptop will go into reboot and recovery of clean 8.1 will begin.
Hacking SecureBoot
1. Turn off UAC. Run the registry file - Disabling_UAC.reg and, after merging, restart the laptop.
2. Unmount the registry hive responsible for the BCD. Using a combination of win + R buttons, open the Run window and enter regedit to open the registry editor. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ BCD00000000, and click "File" - "Unload Hive" ("File" - "Uninstall Hive")
3. Run the SecureBootPatch patch
Open the "securebootpatch" directory. Run as administrator (right click) InstallPolicy.cmd, and then restart the laptop.
After the reboot, the secure boot debug policy interface will appear. Select "accept and install" to install the policy.
4. Turning on the test mode.
Run the command line and enter:
bcdedit /set {default} testsigning on && bcdedit /set {bootmgr} testsigning on
If there are no errors, restart the laptop and enter the recovery mode command line. Check the lower right corner of the screen for the words "secureboot is not configured correctly". If the inscription is present - continue (At the start of the WinPE GUI boot, it will blink and disappear under the background, will appear again at the command prompt).
-- I have to admit that I didn't check the secureboot, but it went well
Deploying win10
1. From the last step, we are in WinPE recovery mode:
Go to the command line: Select "Troubleshooting", then "Advanced Options" - "Command Prompt". A request for a bitlocker recovery key should not appear.
2. Format drive C. Make sure that the commands are entered correctly and enter the next only if there are no errors in the previous one.
Enter
(a) diskpart
(b) list disk
(c) select disk 0
(d) list partition
(e) select partition 4
(f) format quick fs = ntfs override
(f) exit
3. Actually deploying win 10: The win10 deployment file suitable for your device (the surface RT one) should already be at the root of the flash drive. If not, rename it to "install.wim", and copy it to the root!
Enter:
dism /apply-image /imagefile:d:\install.wim /index:1 /ApplyDir:c:\
Where: "d: \ install.wim" is the location of the deployment file from Win 10, and "c:" is the system drive to which you are deploying.
Close the dialog after execution and restart the tablet.
4. When restarting you will get an error popup: Press SHIFT+F10
-- This is the moment the drivers are no longer present and you will need the USB keyboard
5. Type Regedit and go to KEY_Local machine/SYSTEM/Setup/Status/ChildCompletion > setup.exe > Modify the value to "3"
6. Restart
NOTE: I did not connect to wifi until sometime later, there is a firmware update that seems to mess up the ability to install appx files?
-- Dont connect, for the above reason, a connection is however needed later on for the drivers.
### 2.1. How to activate Windows
1. Powershell
slmgr.vbs /upk
slmgr /ipk NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43
slmgr /skms kms.03k.org
slmgr /ato
slmgr /skms zhang.yt
### 2.2 Install runtime
If using my collection; it is possible to execute: Install.ps1 (may need to do so several times to make sure everything installs with the dependencies)
1. Copy APPX1 from Recovery USB to Desktop
2. Desktop\APPX1\APPX1.ps1 > Right click > Run as Administrator
3. Restart
--install appx files from framework folder
4. Desktop\APPX1\AppxBundle.ps1 > Right click > Run as Administrator
5. Restart
6. Install:
Microsoft.windowsStore.appxbundle
Microsoft.NET.Native.Framework.1.1.appx
Microsoft.NET.Native.Runtime.1.1.appx
## 3. After installation ##
1. install all apps/dependencies/framework you can that are included, at this stage the laptop accepts most.
2. insert USB Wifi adapter or USB Bluetooth adapter
3. Connect to Wifi or Bluetooth (I used Bluetooth Tethering on my phone)
4. Run Windows Update and hear all the devices get installed.
### How to remove Expired version popup ###
1. Go to C:\Windows\System32
2. Right click on LicensingUI.exe > Properties > Security > Advanced
-- Guys, the file you have to rename for getting rid of the warning IS NOT "LogonUI.exe", the guide is wrong. The right file is "LicensingUI.exe". -- Thanks Kiba85
3. Ower > Change
4. Enter your username > Check Names
5. Give the Group Users or Administrators Full control
6. Close all dialog boxes
7. Now rename the file to LogonUIbak.exe
If it doesn't work; boot using the USB Recovery, open command promt, navigate to C: Windows System32 and use the command "rename LicensingUI.exe LicensingUI.exe.bak
Did you start with the clean recovered 8.1? And also rebooted after disabling the UAC? Did not connect the new installation to the internet? And run the InstallPolicy.cmd as administrator?
Could you please verify that you executed all these steps, and maybe re-run them?
I first had the same problem. I booted the recovery mode (starting while holding screen-windows-button, vol up and press power), then "Use a device" and tried all the USB devices showing up until I was lucky it rebooted to a different recovery screen. As far as I remember this recovery from the USB drive had less options in the menu. There were indeed no clear options to select like D:/ or USB drive, SD card, SSD partition 1. Would have made it easier. So I would suggest to try all the options in the "Use a device" menu with the recovery USB inserted.
Can you please post a Screenshot or a photo of the Yoga running Windows 10?
Microsoft says that "Use a Device" will only reboot into recovery again... ?
Glad to see it works
Quick question, what did you do exactly to get internet access to the yoga 11 while no drivers where installed(when keyboard, wifi drivers etc. don't work)? Because to use a usb wifi adapter you'd need to install it's setup, which doesn't work because it's rt and it doesn't support it. So how did you exactly get internet access? Did your usb bluetooth adapter not need a setup? And also, do you know why usb tethering doesn't work? My only usb wifi adapter doesn't work because of the above reasons, so I tried tethering trough usb with my phone, but it would just show up as an unkown device with RNDIS as the name, and it wouldn't work(still no internet). Could you please help me out?
Because to use a usb wifi adapter you'd need to install it's setup, which doesn't work because it's rt and it doesn't support it. So how did you exactly get internet access? Did your usb bluetooth adapter not need a setup? And also, do you know why usb tethering doesn't work? My only usb wifi adapter doesn't work because of the above reasons, so I tried tethering trough usb with my phone, but it would just show up as an unkown device with RNDIS as the name, and it wouldn't work(still no internet). Could you please help me out?
In my case the USB Bluetooth adapter just worked. I think another wifi adapter should also work. You need a device which works with the generic drivers which are included. I think USB tethering requires some drivers that are not included by default and therefore need windows update/an internet connection.
I suggest you try another USB Bluetooth/wifi adapter and maybe borrow one somewhere. You can also try to force install the generic driver on the wifi adapter you have laying around, it may work.. I have no hopes for USB tethering.
Hi again,
Thanks for your answer last time.
If it's no bother, could I ask which bluetooth/wifi adapter you used?
Hello, I found myself that it is not actually necessary to buy an adapter. The Windows 8.1 recovery USB drive contains a Wi-Fi driver which works under Windows 10. The hardest part is installing it, though it's easiy if you're familiar with installing drivers under Device Manager.
Do as follows:
- Plug your Windows 8.1 USB recovery drive into your Lenovo Yoga 11.
- Take note of the drive letter that the recovery USB appears under (for example D:\)
- Open Device Manager.
- Look under the 'Other devices' tab. Try to find a device with a name suggesting it is a Wi-Fi adapter. I do not have on hand what it is supposed to be called right now. If you get stuck at this stage, let me know and I'll look further.
- Right click the device and click 'Update Driver Software...'
- Click 'Browse my computer locally for driver software'.
- In the search location type the location of your USB drive. For example if your drive is letter D:\ than type in D:\. You must make sure 'Include subfolders' option is ticked.
- Click 'Next' and the driver for Wi-Fi should be installed successfully if you chose the right device. If you choose the wrong one it's fine, just try again with the correct one.
Let me know how it goes...
Добрый день всем. Попал данный ноутбук в руки. Подскажите как его можно использовать для серфинга в интернете и офисной работы? Надо ли его прошивать на windows 10?
so my yoga 11 has been laying around for some years now and usage has been getting worse mostly because of the included, no longer supported, internet explorer.
But when i found that a working release of windows 10 arm32 for the surface rt was around, i decided to go rogue and install it on my yoga 11.
I adapted the tutorial by @kephax and @zaveraj to the needs of the yoga and added own experiences https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-8-rt/rt-general/tutorial-install-windows-10-arm32-t4052035 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82022643&postcount=41
feedback and suggestions are always welcome
**working** windows 10 arm32 on lenovo yoga 11
documents and instructions
1. Firmware is a potentially dangerous process and requires some accuracy. Always have a recovery disc on hand created from the official kit from microsoft!
2. In order to facilitate the installation process, in addition to the usb flash drive, you will need a usb keyboard and an usb bluetooth/wifi adapter.
3. Windows 10 on arm is basically functional. The drivers for surface 1 work fine, the bluetooth driver for surface 2 has some problems. The store mainly supports the installation of arm applications. Office 2013 is fully operational and even has a russian language pack.
4. The image is not meant for the yoga 11, therefore keyboard, sound, wifi, bluetooth, camera, touchscreen? Are not working in the installation process. After a 'magic' windows update in the end, they do work.
create recovery drive using the existing windows rt 8.1 installation:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17422/windows-8-create-usb-recovery-drive
1. Clear an usb drive (8gb+ advised)
2. Open 'create a recovery drive' on the windows rt installation
3. Follow the instructions on the screen
restore the laptop to version 8.1 according to this instruction :
1. Ensure that the yoga is completely turned off and connected to the charger. Connect the recovery disk to the usb port.
2. Press and hold the volume up and windows button on the screen. Press and release the power button.
3. Hold volume up and windows button until a black screen with a console like appearance appears, then you may release
4. When prompted, select english and a keyboard layout.
5. Select "troubleshooting", then select "recover from a drive", in my case the last usb device was the correct one, it may take some tries which one you need. If you are prompted for a bitlocker recovery key, select "skip this drive" at the bottom of the screen. Next, select “just remove my files” and the last “reinstall”. The laptop will go into reboot and recovery of clean 8.1 will begin.
Hacking secureboot
1. Turn off uac. Run the registry file - disabling_uac.reg and, after merging, restart the laptop.
2. Unmount the registry hive responsible for the bcd. Using a combination of win + r buttons, open the run window and enter regedit to open the registry editor. Select hkey_local_machine \ bcd00000000, and click "file" - "unload hive" ("file" - "uninstall hive")
3. Run the securebootpatch patch
open the "securebootpatch" directory. Run as administrator (right click) installpolicy.cmd, and then restart the laptop.
After the reboot, the secure boot debug policy interface will appear. Select "accept and install" to install the policy.
4. Turning on the test mode.
Run the command line and enter:
Bcdedit /set {default} testsigning on && bcdedit /set {bootmgr} testsigning on
if there are no errors, restart the laptop and enter the recovery mode command line. Check the lower right corner of the screen for the words "secureboot is not configured correctly". If the inscription is present - continue (at the start of the winpe gui boot, it will blink and disappear under the background, will appear again at the command prompt).
-- i have to admit that i didn't check the secureboot, but it went well
deploying win10
1. From the last step, we are in winpe recovery mode:
Go to the command line: Select "troubleshooting", then "advanced options" - "command prompt". A request for a bitlocker recovery key should not appear.
2. Format drive c. Make sure that the commands are entered correctly and enter the next only if there are no errors in the previous one.
Enter
(a) diskpart
(b) list disk
(c) select disk 0
(d) list partition
(e) select partition 4
(f) format quick fs = ntfs override
(f) exit
3. Actually deploying win 10: The win10 deployment file suitable for your device (the surface rt one) should already be at the root of the flash drive. If not, rename it to "install.wim", and copy it to the root!
Enter:
Dism /apply-image /imagefile:d:\install.wim /index:1 /applydir:c:\
where: "d: \ install.wim" is the location of the deployment file from win 10, and "c:" is the system drive to which you are deploying.
Close the dialog after execution and restart the tablet.
4. When restarting you will get an error popup: Press shift+f10
-- this is the moment the drivers are no longer present and you will need the usb keyboard
5. Type regedit and go to key_local machine/system/setup/status/childcompletion > setup.exe > modify the value to "3"
6. Restart
note: I did not connect to wifi until sometime later, there is a firmware update that seems to mess up the ability to install appx files?
-- dont connect, for the above reason, a connection is however needed later on for the drivers.
### 2.1. How to activate windows
slmgr /skms zhang.yt
### 2.2 install runtime
if using my collection; it is possible to execute: Install.ps1 (may need to do so several times to make sure everything installs with the dependencies)
1. Copy appx1 from recovery usb to desktop
2. Desktop\appx1\appx1.ps1 > right click > run as administrator
3. Restart
--install appx files from framework folder
4. Desktop\appx1\appxbundle.ps1 > right click > run as administrator
5. Restart
6. Install:
### how to remove expired version popup ###
1. Go to c:\windows\system32
2. Right click on licensingui.exe > properties > security > advanced
### how to install ublock origin on edge ###
-- not so sure this works at the moment
1. Download this: https://github.com/nikrolls/ublock-edge/releases (i was able to install 1.12.0, but it made my edge unusable)
2. Edge > about:flags
3. Select: "enable extensions developer features"
