Okay, i got this big problem. I can't do anything. Today i wiped everything. now i can't even go to recovery.
When I boot my Desire it just pops up fastboot. Then i tryed to go to recovery and then the HTC splash1 pops up. But after that my screen just goes black ?? i cant see anything. What to do ?
I don't know how to explain it. but every guide i found to problems like this requires i go to recovery ?
Have you tried running a RUU from fastboot then?
If you've saved your RUU somewhere - run it, or get the latest 2.29.405.2 on shipped roms (if branded use gold card).

Hello,
I've a Desire were Cyanogen 7 is installed - as I need to return the phone I need to restore the Stock-ROM.
Have downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe but when I try to install the phone stuck during the 1st reboot (HTC logo on black background appears) and then the RUU aborts (waiting for bootloader.....then error 171).
What have I missed?
Thanks for your help!
Is that the RUU that your phone came with?
No, downloaded from a link here at the forum - got the wrong one?
The thing u have to do is first install htc sync, then connect ur phobe to the pc, when ur phone reboot by installation ur internet should be turned off. Its the driver that creates problem. Works for me perfectly..

I had problems installing from RUUs, I used a zip file. Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10417988#post10417988
I got the same problem.
Need to return to stock but for me it won't even recognize the Phone when i plug it in. Which is strange because i can access the files through windows and all, but it says it's not connected in the RUU. :S
I think my "problem" ist ClockWork - it seems that the phone don't get into the bootloader (??) required to flash.
If I disconnect the usb while the HTC logo is shown it switchs to the loader and I can see a line RRU (normaly there are the four lines)
The first part seem to work (check phone, initiate reboot, ....)
SOLVED:
Just killed the RUU while the device showed the HTC logo and restarted the RUU.
Then the update recogniced the bootloader and installed the stock ROM.
what do u mean by killing the RUU?
*g* Windows TaskManager & killed Process
or you colud just run the ruu from fastboot lol its much easier and less likely to brick ur phone than force closing the ruu in the process of searching for the fone
oh....hmmm....
Good point - tried a lot but never tried that....damn
1st you have to flash the ...bootlloader for stock romss ...the same way u did before installing .cm7
u can find it here
alpharev.nl
flash alpharev for stock rom..... and then do a full wipe and install the rom through recovery
u cannot install stock froyo over alpharev cm7
boot.
Yes you can as the RUU replaces the AlphaRev HBOOT with the stock one. I've done it with no issues
Hi there,
I rooted my phone using unrevoked3 last night (that was successful) eventually.
I then went on to install a ROM. At the time it was "RCMixS_v1.3.1_X-A2SD+_BravoHboot".
after reboot it kept rebooting, so battery out and then cleared data store and user stuff.
Then reboot, but hangs on HTC screen.
I cant get any further.
I tried this rom too, but hangs on HTC screen "RCMixHD_v3.6.1_ROT_++_CM7HBoot".
My phone is orange UK, i think it had 2.2 on there, but at the moment, cant check as i cant get anything to load on the phone.
Any idea how i salvage this? I was trying to load a "PB99IMG" file in. It looked good but at the end it said incorrect CID.
I assume CID = carrier ID? Any idea where i can get an orange UK PB99IMG from?
Many thanks,
Stuart
Just partition your sd card and reflash or flash Leedroid noA2sd (preferably the froyo version).
You can boot in to recovery by pulling the battery then powering on while holding volume down and then selecting recovery. In recovery go to mounts and storage and mount as mass storage, then copy the rom to the sd, full wipe and flash.

If u only got rooted ur phone by unrevoked, its not ready to flash new hboot's.
u need to be s-off to do that. so thats why u got boot-loop.
I had a few problems with my HTC Desire he won't start after I did an update of Insertcoin (I did this update, like every other update).
So I thought that I had to re-root my phone.. Bad idea I think.
Now my sd-card is formatted so I don't have my gold-card anymore
and I can't boot my phone.
When I boot it, in the top right and left corner and bottem left and right corner there is the debugging logo (so the triangle with the '!') and in the middle of the screen HTC logo.
EDIT: I also cannot go to the bootloader or fastboot I can only see the screen above nothing else.
EDIT2: I tried and original RUU but I don't know which one I had to use..
I don't know what to do, so please help me!
Sounds like you've flashed the wrong RUU. This happened to me, I've got a Vodafone Desire, flashing the newest HTC Europe RUU restored my HBOOT but still didn't boot (so you could try that I guess), so I used fastboot to flash recovery and then a new ROM. Good luck to you.
Oh yeah also, if you've installed a custom HBOOT and then tried to use a RUU it may be the cause of the problem since it wouldn't have been able to flash the system partition. Although it doesn't appear as to be working, I tried to flash the stock HBOOT through fastboot when my phone was like that, and after the RUU finished installing I did have the stock alpharev one and not my cm7 one.. Just something that might come in useful.
I've tried this solution here but it doesn't work for me.
Yes, it's working again.
This is the solution.
I downloaded this RUU and install it and now it works
Hi,
My first phone was rooted and I rooted my second too so I am confident rooting them however my second phone which had been rooted for a while had a space issue on SD card so I cleared out a few things which unfourtunatley included all the backup files ....
It worked fine afterwards but didnt let me change rom (using rom manager) so I just left it in working order for a few months until I wanted to reflash a new rom (as I am sure most people do every few months)
When it didnt let me, I tried to unroot and root options using superoneclick and unrevoked3 however, unrevoked 3 just stayed on "running root" and superoneclick got so far and crashed. When I go into the bootloader, it says something about some filed missing (think might be some nbh files).
At the moment, when normally turning the phone on, it stays on the screen with the pink circle, the first boot screen.
I have tried updating it using the RUU but it takes a long time and then says "use the correct rom for your device" which I am, this method just boots my phone and goes to a htc logo.
I can also get into the bootloader but when I apply update.zip, it says it has failed and something about files not existing/step 7 failure.
The thing is, I can get to fast boot and I am sure there is a way via ADB to force a new image (such as a cyanogen recovery image) on to the device.
Can anyone tell me how to push an image to the phone without using the RUU (as this didnt work for me)??
Maybe my phone is just bricked
Thank you very much!!
It. Is. Not. Bricked.
You can only push files onto the phone through fastboot if you are S-OFF (are you?)
Have you tried to enter recovery? boot into Bootloader (vol down + power) and then select recovery. Does it work?
no?
Then you need a goldcard. Make one with your working Desire, stick it in your misbehaving one, and then run the latest WWE RUU (link on my guide, check #resources)
Thanks but I do not have another Desire...
Any card reader
yeah, I got a card reader laying around somewhere, if not ill go get one in Tesco, what where you thinking?

Hi Bortak, I am having similair problems with my phone sticking on the pink circle screen. I cant seem to load a recovery file from Bootloader. Will I need to make a Gold Card, my phone is s-off.
thanks mate
if phone is S-OFF go to my guide, look at advanced boot problems S-OFF.
SOLVED WOOHOO!
Thank you to all who helped but I managed to fix it my own way.
For anyone still having trouble...
I still had the cyanogen mod bootloader soo all I did was download the latest cyanogen mod rom and apply it (you can mount sd card from cm bootloader) and after a hairy minute, it finally booted up!

Translation: I flashed another ROM because my other one didn't boot.
I hope someone in this community is able to help. I've already been scouring Google this morning for people with a similar issue and haven't been successful in getting my phone to come back so I suspect there may be a hardware issue.
Here's a summary of the problem:
My phone shutdown this morning while I was listening to a podcast. It got stuck in a boot loop at the splash screen, constantly rebooting itself. A battery pull would not solve the problem. I was able to get it into HBOOT (version 0.92) but when I tried going into recovery from there, It got stuck on the splash screen (no looping). Before all this I had been running Nils Business Gingersense for quite a while and things were working fine, in case anyone needs that detail.
After failing to boot to recovery, here are some of the things I have tried to fix this issue:
1. Factory reset in HBOOT
2. Flashed RUU 2.2 and then tried RUU 2.3.4 through HBOOT. Though neither of these would get the phone to come up, the splash screen reboots stopped and the phone just freezes in splash screen now (over 30 minutes with no change).
3. Tried to reflash CWM 5.0.2.0 through Fastboot. Although the phone is recognized by 'fastboot device', it says 'remote: not allowed' when try to flash the .IMG file.
4. Tried to flash an older CWM recovery from when I originally rooted my phone --same 'not allowed' error
5. Ran the official RUU for Froyo on my PC and it looked promising but I never got past the splash screen afterward a reboot.
6. I don't know a ton about ADB but ADB does not recognize my device even though Fastboot does.
At this point I'm not sure what else to try. It seems promising that I can get into HBOOT and that Fastboot will recognize my phone but what can I do with that now?
Thanks for any ideas you might have.
Have you tried flashing cwm thru hboot as a PB31IMG.zip? http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip. If that dosent work you could try to update hboot to 1.02 and htcdev unlock it. This will allow extended fastboot commands. You can do this on the htcdev website. Or you could downgrade hboot to the 0.77 engineering bootloader http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/ENG_Hboot_0.77/PB31IMG.zip which basicly does the same thing, and might be a better option than upgrading. You are s-off right?
Yes, I still have S-OFF. I did try flashing several recoveries through hboot and they all acted like they updated fine but I wasn't able to boot into any of them because I kept getting frozen at the white screen after choosing recovery from hboot. I will try another hboot and see if that makes any difference. Thanks.
Cmlusco, I tried the CWM version you posted with hboot .92 and .77 but had no luck. I also tried walking through the hboot upgrade steps on the htcdev site but I couldn't get the RUU exe to find my phone. This is odd because an older RUU found the phone just fine earlier today.
