defrost rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how can i get wide screen in the camera dat came with the rom

Uh...What?
I need more information.
I'll take a guess and say that you are wondering how to change the camera mode from 4:3 to 16:9. Is that correct?

yes thats the 1

Turn on your camera, go into the settings and search for the one with the resolution. The option for widescreen should be there

cool am using camera ultimate 360 pro i think that is better

Best G2 Camera app.

Does anyone know of a good camera app? I have seen many on the market, but after tests, I haven't found a decent one. The one the G2 comes with is a pain. I have done some googleing as well but haven't found a decent one yet.
Just wondering
Thanks!
Dootuz
I really enjoy VIGNETTE

I like camera 360
I prefer the stock camera app for just snapping quick pics, I like the custom ones with more options like in CM roms though.
For taking quick artsy shots, Retro Camera is dead simple, Vignette and Camera 360 offer more options but not great for quick shots.

I like to snap pictures of friends and sometimes during sports games. I usually just deal with the stock app, but after last night of the app messing up every picture, I want to find a new app. I really like Vignette and Camera 360, it's just hard to pick one. Thanks for the app suggestions.
It would be nice if the stock cam would focus with out wobbling around and every picture I take has spots in it pink an fuzzy if you zoom in just a little I use snap shot pro now its in beta but its better than stock far from HDQ

The camera from the Desire Z is pretty nice, but you have be flash a sense rom to use it currently
I go back and forth between Vignette and Camera 360 my self. Both r really good.

I heard that, I was wishing someone would just rip the app though. I'll give Snap Shot Pro a look.
EDIT: I can't seam to find Snapshot pro on the market.
I too would like to find a camera app for quick shots. One that used the volume control for zooming!
I'm running snap photo pro beta for g2 and can say its good.

It's a beta app you need to contact the dev by email are use the nexus one app

I'd like a camera app that shoots HDR photos (more than one photo taken at different exposures) since camera 360 has a simulate HDR but not a real one.
vignette is the best one. It is more of a pro camera. Camera 360 is good for the effects.
Vignette has settings to which it allowes you to adjust your camera to your likeing.
my current setup
when activation, click on the settings and check all minus "save originals" just for my prefference.
then
click on the middle icon which is on the right side and use these settings
auto
auto
auto
center
auto
one click to the left for brightness
2 clicks to the right on contrast
saturation is normal or one click to the left
sharpness is 2 clicks to the left from the s in sharpness
use superfine in 5 megapixel and default camera folder save. save as date and time.
those are my settings. looks better than camera 360. NOt only that, it integrates well with the software from the phone and you even have a video button.
Is "Camera Magic" available for the G2? I have it on the G1 (running Donut)
It's my fav camera app so far, the white balance adjustments on it work extremely well.

I'm using CM6.1's camera app with enom's rom.

Htc evo camera app on cm 7

Can it be modified to work for cm 7?... its obviously better than the cm 7 camera app. I like the full screen pics. Any help?
Sent from my CM 7 Monster Evol.
I am curious to know as well. HTC camera had a lot more options, and the full screen was nice.
No, it wont work without the sense framework, which cm roms will never have.
I just set it to 6mp wide and it takes full screen pics. Quality seems about the same as the Sense camera.
No it can't be used on cm7. Its for sense only. No modifications. Sense framework.
~ d3rk
the CM7 camera takes much better pictures than sense on the 8mp setting, and if you want full screen, use the 6mp wide setting. I spent hours last week flashing ROMs, taking the same picture over and over and printing them for comparisons. Then I asked family members which looked better and they all liked the CM7 ones. Same for the video on a 52" LCD
Dont see option for changing to 6mp?
Thanks guys... 6mp does the trick!

Confused whether you asked the picture settings or the video recording settings. I feel pictures are good. So telling the other thing.
Stock video recording at 320 x 240 gives around 21fps in good light. This will be the preferred setting.
Video recording sucks due to low processor power and cannot be improved much really.

Finally found the (almost) perfect camera app

Ive been trying to find a "perfect" camera app for my DInc2 with a few key features.
*hardware volume button shutter option
*touch screen focus
*adjustable ISO
*clicking thumbnail goes to HTC Gallery app
Didn't think that would be so hard, right? But it always seemed that they came close, but were always missing one feature or another.
So, after many rounds of both paid and free apps I finally found Ucam
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ucamera.ucam&hl=en
Has all the above features, plus more. It also has a stunner of a built in editing package, with tons of presets and discrete controls for brightness, saturation, contrast, etc., *BUT* it downsamples the image to like 1280x800 or something and I can't figure out how to make not do that.
But that's just gravy, considering it already fulfilled my wish list, so hopefully they will fix the resolution problem with the editor. Nice GUI too. And it makes animated GIFs, amongst other oddities. Did I mention the incredible sharing setup?
Plus, its FREE.
They also just came out with a tablet version.

Forums are here but a lot is in Chinese

I may be late to the party and everyone is already using this, but I think it's worth sharing
I'm using nitsuj's TSMBullet and it has a great camera! The touch to focus, thumbnail brings to gallery, and it has manual, panorama, hdr, and burst mode. There isn't a volume shutter however. One of the best camera's i've used

I have to agree. The bullet camera is very sharp.

This app is awesome! Thanks for the tip.
Btw, to change the image size. Be in camera mode and scroll through the menu at the top of the screen, you should see a square with some sizes in it, press it and select the size you want

What ROM?
Anyone know if this works with the CM9 Kang ROM by areovan? This CM9 ROM is almost perfect. Only 2 issues that I'm running into:
1. Must run "su; killall drmserver" in the terminal after reboot in order to get Google Play to download/update apps
2. Flash on any camera app that I've tried (stock, angel, zoom FX) doesn't work.
I don't really care if the FFC or camcorder works, mainly need a camera app with flash as I travel a lot (business) and love to take pics at a moments notice with my phone.
Any ideas?
I've tried a ton of camera apps and this is by far my favorite after just a few hours of use. Thanks for the tip!

You can turn on the torch before taking the picture and that should help.

they just updated the app to 1.1.7 today, and it fixed a couple of repeatable crashes I was having and had reported...these guys are super responsive! They also said they would consider an option to not downrez the image in editing mode since many smartphones are powerful enough to edit a 8mp image (slowly) these days
This is a great camera app. Thanks for the heads up. Does it take the full 8mp wide pics like sense roms do? It looks like the pic fills the entire screen.

[Q] Camera aspect Ratio of 4:3?

is there any fix for the crap 4:3?
I dont understand why its like this, even the video is 16:9 so I know it is possible
take pictures while snapping video....lol
in all seriousness, i dont know. "widescreen pics" is an option on Camera ICS from the play store...but last time i downloaded it, i couldn't find the setting.
just take photos in 4:3 and crop the top and bottom off. thats all it would do if it supported 16:9 in the camera app.
