[Q] iphone headset on MT4? - myTouch 4G Accessories

I bought Sennheiser MM60 for iphone. The sound is exceptionally good (same as PX100 and PXC100) with detachable cable (you can use the mic unit with other headphones).
The only problem is the calling button doesn't work. It can only control music player (either stock player or winamp).
What iphone headset do you use and how does it work?

Interesting. What, specifically, is happening with the headset? I've had good luck with a few iPhone headsets, particularly ones with just the play button like the v-modas I have right now. I normally use the SE MW600 Bluetooth headset, and I've noticed that the call button brings up the menu option of either the Genius Button or Google's voice software. Is that what you're getting when you use the button?

I got music player activated when the button pressed once (it can be the last track it played or play audio randomly.
I am supposed to receive Bose MIE2 today and post the result later.
The purpose of this thread is to share the experience what brand and model of wired (bluetooth excluded this time) headset used and how does it work.
update:
I just received Bose MIE2. The button control is the same (doesn't work on calling, but it works with music control).

So it doesn't work on calling at all? It can't take a call, place a call, or answer one? When double-click my v-moda, it places a call to the last number dialed out. It also works with answering calls. I have the Vibe Duo:

I haven't tried the stock ear buds because that design isn't particularly comfortable to me.

I have the gunmetal & red ones myself and I couldn't be happier. They work like a charm with the 4g. I did just lose the little pouch they came with though

is this problem the phone or the headset

I have just obtained a Samsung BT wep210 which is brilliant 'cos it doesn't fall out of my ear. But although it has some handsfree functions, it doesn't do as much as my cheapo unit from ASDA. The Asda one allows me to use voice tags when I depress the button on the headset, but when I do the same on the WEP210 it instantly does a last number redial. Am I doing something stupid?
Thanks
Mike
Not all BT Headsets have the same funtions or same button functions. What does the manual say? My Samsung BT Headset does not give me the possibility to use Voice Dial, although i don't know which one i possess

the manual is poor but it definitely makes reference to voice dialling if the phone supports it - which it does as it's a XDA orbit
Also I have discovered that this (Samsung) headset, does not switch itself off if I leave it in the car and walk off with my phone. In one way this is good as I don't have to switch it on again when I get back in, but it makes me wonder how often I am going to have to recharge it.
Thanks
Mike

Playing music over a regular bluetooth headset with the Evo

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer to this specific question. I have an HTC Evo, and a regular Bluetooth headset. I'd like to be able to play music/podcasts/whatnot through the headset.
It works great for phone calls, but once the call is over, it goes back to using the speaker. I'm assuming this has something to do with Bluetooth profiles since I was actually able to play music through Bluetooth in a car I rented a few weeks ago. I had to change the audio setting on the car, so it seems like the Evo can send audio through Bluetooth if it detects a certain profile (A2DP?).
Is there an app that allows me to choose to reroute my audio from the speaker to a regular bluetooth headset that only supports the headset and hands-free profiles? If not, I may need to see how feasible it would be for me to make one.
I have been searching in vane for Android software that would play regular audio through a regular bluetooth ear piece (that is normally used for a phone) rather than the external speaker or audio jack.
If anyone knows of such an animal, please let us know.
I realize what you're asking for, and I'm just going to tell you, odds are it's not going to happen. From what I've heard, the Bluetooth API's are fairly limited, and telling the system to use a BT Profile for something it wasn't meant for (and will sound horrible on, nevermind kill the battery life of your headset) won't be easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely to happen at this time. You'd probably be better off getting a decent pair of BT headphones instead. Sorry.
It won't work. Different protocols. If you get a bluetooth stereo headset that has a mic then it will work with both protocols.
This has been on the top of my list (along with a widget for enabling/disabling background data) since I got my Evo. I used this feature a lot on my Moto Q9C.
But I hadn't been able to find anything until now.
The audio quality isn't great but so far "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" is working well enough. I haven't disconnected my headset yet, so I don't know if it will reboot the phone. But the comments in the marketplace say to use a task killer if it happens.
I'm actually considering getting the full $6 version after the 5 days are up.
I just wish there was a way to make the call button function with the media player instead of starting the voice dialer.
Edit:
Have to change the media volume via settings or when the screen is off to increase music volume.
My jabra bluetooth headset allows this to happen but that bluetooth is meant to stream music through it also.

what about these: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Motorola-S9-HD-S9HD-Wireless-Stereo-Headphone-/260631900070?pt=Bluetooth_Wireless_Products&hash=item3caedf2fa6
granted, they ship from Hong Kong so you're looking at a good 1-3 weeks for delivery (i got mine in about a week and a half)
But anyways, they work great for me. they answer calls, control track skipping, play/pause and volume. i love 'em.
App Work Around
I had the same issue with my headset. I went to the Android Market and searched. There are multiple apps out there. I got BTmono Free which allows you to play audio over your bluetooth if you pay for the $1 version you get more options. There are a few more other programs out there that do the same thing.
Good luck.
Thanks for the find Abini. d/l'd BTmono and it works like a champ for playing both music and for Netflix on my rooted EVO 2.2

[Q] Recommendation: Which Bluetooth headset to buy (have to work with Voice Dialing)

Hi
My current Jabra Arrow Bluetooth headset doesn't work with the sgs2 voice dialing (Voice Talk). I can fire up Voice Talk from the headset, but the sound/voice from Voice Talk doesn't appear in the headset.
Anyone who can recommend a good Bluetooth Headset for sgs2 that works flawless with Voice Talk?
I have got SE MW600. I love it. I haven't used the voice talk option as it doesn't support Finnish. But I can try it for you.
How do I fire it up? I heard you should be able to do it by saing hello galaxy but it won't launch. First have to start it? Does it stay in the background after that eating my battery?
Thanx!
Just hold down the button on your headset, that should fire up Voice Talk!
Good news about the mw600. Mine arrives tomorrow

MW600. Stand alone FM radio, long battery life (for bluetooth), v good quality audio, tiny and light, supports track ID, voice calling. Not a great clip or volume adjustment. Overall the best. Buy it, end of.
Yes, yes, yes: The recommendation of MW600 is overwhelming
But, please, spell it for me: Does the MW600 work flawless with Voice Talk? Is it actually possible to hear the voice from Voice Talk in the earplug and can you command the phone (dialing contacts) from the headset without problems?
Yes it does, you can hear confirmation through the bluetooth headset on the MW600. I bought a Blueant T1 today and it also works with confirmation over bluetooth headset.
The T1 also works by just saying "hey galaxy" not sure about mw600.
Sometimes the T1 says "this feature is not supported on this handset" but you can still call people through voice command. It also gets a bit annoying having to say voice command and waiting for the T1 to say "activating voice commands on the connected headset" then saying call contact.
Thanx, that was just the answer I was hoping for! Unfortunately I can't get the Blueant T1 here in Denmark, but Ebay might be my friend
I presently have the Sony which works very well with the G2x, but I would prefer a cord-free unit and so got the Nokia BH-505. My SGS2 will be arriving on Friday, and I am hoping the Nokia would rock with this phone.

Voyager Pro+ which is available on amazon is the best bluetooth headset which allows multipoint and a2dp as well. I might have used 13 or 14 headsets and this is the best even for noise cancellation, one word amazing.

I have had no joy with a Motorola H700 and a BlueParrot VXi Expressway. When initiating a call by pressing the button on the headset the audio/mike used is the one on the phone, and not on the headset.
I cannot believe Samsung still has this problem: a couple of years ago I had an Omnia and only a custom ROM with a different Bluetooth stack solved the problem. My last 2 HTC phones worked flawlessly...
This is an important security issue for me, and if anyone has information on what can be done ( I am new to Android) I would appreciate it. When I call using my VXi my callers can never detect I am on a cellphone:noise cancelling on this unit is outstanding, and I want to continue using it.
But if I find nothing to solve this I will have to go with one of the headsets confirmed to work in the maner they should...
BlueAnt Q2
it even come with an Android app
Currently have problems with Plantronics Discovery 975, low quality and stuttering sound. (Not what you asked about but perhaps don't try this unit!)
I have found a workaround to enable Voice Dialing and Digit Dialing from a Bluetooth Headset on my SGS2:
I purchased Cyberon Voice Commander and Titanium backup from the Market.
Titanium backup anables me to <freeze> the vLingo Voice Command so that it disappears from the installed apps, and installing Cyberon enables everyting I want:
- Tapping the button on the headset starts Voice Commander
- Bluetooth headset is connected to Audio and Mic
- I can say: "Call Jim", or "Digit Dial 8045551212", or "What time is it", etc.
The number of available commands is not as numerous as I had under Winmo and Microsoft VoiceCommand, but it suits me for now and the recognition rate is 99.99% with my Vxi Headset.
Be aware that this breaks all VLingo Voice Recognition apps in the phone because <it is no longer there>.
What I would prefer, and will continue searching for, is to have the headset button start Cyberon Voice Commander (since it handles the bluetooth stack correctly), while leaving VLingo active for other applications.
I am sure there is a setting somewhere that controls what application is started when the Headset button is tapped.
Of course none of this would be required if VLingo handled the Bluetooth headset correctly...
Hi, just to let you know. I ended up buying a BlueAnt Q2 headset, and it just works without problems with voice talk!
Thank you for all your Help!

can anyone recommend me a bluetooth stereo headset for the GS2??...I am aware abt the SEMW600...are there any other options? I am mainly looking for music playback and voice calling (2 basic functions)...voice dialing and voice options not really important...

Seems like the T1 would be superior to the Q2 thanks to the noise reduction; is this right?
I'm convinced enough to buy ONE of the Blueants.

Q2 & T1 are top of the line
T1 is though because it's rugged & have slightly better battery life but it has simple voice commands
remember T1 doesnt come with ear hook so you can't attach it to your ear...
you can get a sweet deal on ebay for the Q2

Thanks garden jean,
I lost something in translation though...
It seems to me that both come with voice control (is one better than the other?), both have ear hooks (according to Amazon), so the differences are that the Q2 (Edit: sorry, T1) is rugged and the T1 has noise cancellation.
Is that right?
Can anyone say which they think is best from a usability point of view?

Notifications don't play through headset????

Is it just me, or notifications don't play through the headset?
When I play Pandora radio via headphones and an email arrives the music pauses, as usual, and...notification sound only comes through the speaker..
Can someone confirm this?
Thanks.
I think I have noticed the same thing, though I don't remember it playing over the phone speaker?
I could've sworn I saw a setting that let you choose whether a notification was sent through the headset or speaker...But I just went hunting through all the settings and can't find it.
not sure what headsets you guys are using... whenever i am playing music through my headphones (no mic) i always get a notification sound, came as default. i don't recall changing anything
well ive used 3 different head sets nowmal earbuds bluetooth and one with a mic and i get nothing from any of them
Mine works too. I use a regular JVC in-ear headsets to listen to music, and I can hear phone calls ringing, as well as message notifications coming in. Nothing seems any different than my other android phone. It might be a setting that u accidentally changed maybe?
every thing is stock other than having root
Well obviously it has something to do with the headset itself. Mine is Skullcandy FIX and it works dandy (other then inline vol up/down buttons) on Skyrocket and Atrix 4g, but on Nitro not only it doesn't get notifications through it, the mic doesn't work either!
I also have some brand I don't remember, from RadioShack store - no notifications, but at least mic works.
im going ot go to my AT&T store today and see what they will have ill post which headset works

Bluetooth A2DP mono earphone do not recognized as music controller

I have Plantronics Explorer 50 A2DP BT mono headset.
It have a button which can receive calls on one click, or redial on double click. And it works fine.
But it can't control music. I've tried million apps on play store, which allow to re-assign music controls like single, double, triple click for pause / play, prev etc.
But none of those apps seems to have any effect.
My phone is OnePlus One with CyanogenMod, but I have tested that Earphone with two other android smartphones of my friends, and it is not controlling music either on their devices. I am using Meridian player, but as said above, I've tested ot on two other phones with no specific player. Same on YouTube app in my phone. Also, standard wired earphones with mic button works fine for play / pause / next / prev on my phone.
Do all A2DP headsets miss that functionality?
And is there any reason no one made an app to switch music with device like this one? I mean, button sends signal to the phone anyway (f.e. redial). Is this really not possible to remapp this functionality? I really do not need to pick calls with my BT at all - it serves only for music.
Or is there something else I am doing wrong? I was googling few days with no results or similar issue. I am a bit lost.
Really, thanks for anything which will guide me to solution
No one have any knowledge which I do not possess? At least something that would guide me in any direction at all?
Please. How do this signal works? I cant find any information on the subject, nowhere
Maybe tasker could change the music, but would it work with headset like this one?
