has anyone else noticed that when someone sends you an mms of an animated gif they are frozen and do not work?
i'm pretty sure it's because the phone doesn't work with videos. if you send a picture message, i'm assuming the phone sending/recieving just takes the first frame, not the whole thing. maybe when video support is added to MMS, so will the animated gifs.
yea when i had the g1 it didnt have that capability either (promptly returned it back then went back to winmo), in time wp7 will be able too also im sure

not sure if this has been discussed but i have a att galaxy s3 and each time i get a mms on my stock messaging app i get the pic in a slideshow as if its a video in order for me to zoom in and out i have to save the pic and then i ca nzoom in and out. is that a carrier thing or am i doing something wrong?
Mine does the same thing, and also sends pictures in a slideshow by default. My Captivate used to do this too, which leads me to believe it's a feature of Samsung's messaging app, not necessarily an AT&T thing.
Nobody sends me MMSes. No dongers and such... :crying:
Why is it that on jellybean in the messaging app that it won't load a picture someone sends me? I have 4g and lte on but the signal this is full bars but its grayed out sometimes then goes blue.. I don't know what that's about but please reply soon.
Go into settings in mms and make sure auto retrieve is checked.

This is why I use a third-party sms app (I use Handcent). From what I've been able to figure out, if an iPhone user sends you just a picture, it usually downloads fine. But if they insert text with the picture (in the same MMS), then you run into problems with the picture having a hard time downloading or (worse, IMO) showing up as a slideshow. The slideshow also tends to happen if they send you multiple pictures in the same MMS. With a third-party sms app, this can still happen, but it doesn't seem to happen as often.
To me, this is one of the weird idiosyncrasies of Android, and one that I wish they'd find a way to fix.
Ive searched hundreds of posts but all the answers are the same. If you are annoyed by getting multi picture or pictures with words from iPhone users coming through as a slideshow or video, the simply install Handcent SMS and the problem magically goes away. We'll I've had Handcent for years and I still have the same problem. I've got it installed and it's set as the default as far as I can tell, I still get slideshows from my iPhone friends when the send multi picture mms messages. Can someone please tell me exactly how to make Handcent show these as single pictures where I can zoom in?
Affects me as well

This is also a problem for me. It's affected all of my Android devices.
It seems that when I receive an MMS from any other user (not just iPhone users) it will be displayed as a slide show instead of an image if the message was sent along with text. This happens even if the attachment is only one image.
It is also triggered if the sender's message has two or more images (even if no text).
I can't begin to describe how annoying this is. From internet searches this has been an issue since at least 2010.
Im able to send mms to android phones, however when i try sending mms to a iphone its coming up blank on the other end. This just started happening today. If i save a image from a google image search lets say, it sends but they get a weird message on their end that doesnt let them see the picture.
I can send screenshots, i can send pics taken via camera. Anything downloaded via chrome will not send. It comes up with image00000.jpg on the iphone end.
It's weird that messages on this phone does not consistently show gif images properly. Has anyone figured out a workaround on this?
