Just been wondering.. Havent seen any roms here other than Modaco and Villain rom.. Which made me wonder which chefs we may expect to see do some magic cooking here ?
I want to. But I don't have a Z and I don't have any skills

Question is if we people with the Desire Z safely can flash a G2 rom ? Would there be no hussle in doing that ?

Yes, they're the same phone, it's no problem. If you look in the various ROM threads on the G2 side, you'll see people with DZs posting about them as well as G2 owners.
The only issue that I can think of is that the keyboard mapping often gets messed up, which also affects the capacitive buttons on the phone. But that's easily fixed, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847824

That's coming soon (see my separate thread on that).
The differences between the DZ and G2 are :
- different radio bands (but that doesn't affect the ROM etc, and different DZ's have different radio bands anyway)
- slightly different partitioning (that doesn't really affect anything with custom ROMs, just that the stock ROMs aren't really interchangeable)
- different HBOOT (not an issue now that gfree is the method to get S-OFF, no need to mess with HBOOT)
- different keyboard layout (minor issue for custom ROMs, but different DZ's have different keyboards too)

i guess this will be the only "real" issue if you flash a rom as you state.. And i believe that it quite easy to fix
I've been experimenting with dsixda's kitchen a little
A couple of OC kernels but not full ROMs yet
It has its limitations with ext3...
Ok, seriously guys, there are already several open threads discussing the merge. Please do not flood another thread with this discussion. Keep it ON TOPIC!

Also my keyboard has a different layout to whats actually being typed out so... yeah

Capacitive buttons are working fine with this ROM on my Bell D-Z.
I think I have a keeper with this one.
There are several reports of poor battery life with this version so I'm waiting for the next release candidate.
Is it not an issue that we only have 2 custom keys on the keyboard where they have 3?
Custom Keys don't even work yet so, no
Nice one. So are we talking a different keyboard layout or just those not working?
I'll go read up.

Ah sorry, my bad.. As it was in the CyanogenMod topic and I did see ADW Launch & HTC, with no additional text, I assumed it was the difference between the roms/launchers..
Sorry, I admit, I should have read the previous page.
Update - this has now progressed to RC2 (21st November).
Are there any devs working on a gingerbread sense Tom? That would be awesome.

First we need a gingerbread sense leak. Sense is not open source so you can't port it as easy as aosp/cyanogenmod.

No, I've spoken too soon.
I said I had got it booting, which I had - ie, past the strange chinese boot animation.
Anyway... I have now delved further into the build and there are some key points:
- No Rosie (we could live without it - but its not a complete Sense build without it)
- Sense apps are there, and some visual/useful differences
- New Quick Settings menu which allows you to select stuff like Wifi etc
- UI tweaks, like a slightly nicer battery icon in notification bar, and updated icons in menu, etc.
- It's heavily watermarked; removal of which is a job in itself. It seems to be a certain HTC employee's ID number.... I reckon he'd be in trouble if this came out!!!
- A fair bit missing
All in all, it's a nice taster of what's to come in the future, but I'll not be spending the time this needs to turn it into a ROM, unless the demand is seriously high. Give it a week or two and we'll have a better version leaked, I'm sure.
Sorry to dissapoint, but in my opinion, this build isn't worth the effort involved just yet.
the htc incredible S will be comming in the begin of march with gingerbread and a new version of htc sense.... i think it'll be better to wait a couple of weeks till the incredible S rom will leak out

htc have said that the z and hd will get android 2.4 within a month or 2 of the release of the desire Z, so we are looking at June/July for an official release.
I got it booting on my desire, but still got lots of not working stuff, as network :/
as you said watermarked and without lots of apps...
here is a screen of the new notification area, i covered the watermark numbers with a mosaic hehe

Well, I have worked on Honeycomb port for some weeks, and I was not going to publish it.
But I thought someone would like to see how Honeycomb can perform on our device, and maybe someone could help in development.
Big thanks goes to people working on Desire and Nexus HC ports, i used some tricks in this build too.
Everyone who can help in development are welcomed.
Please note - honeycomb for our device(s) is far from stable and usable now, it can be used for exploring what Honeycomb actually looks like and how can it be used on our device.
What's working now
It boots ^^
Touchscreen
LED and screen-off
Hardware buttons properly mapped
Graphics hardware acceleration
Mobile data
Accelerometer
Browser
SD mounting
What isn't
Everything else
Phone functions
Wi-fi

Xoom based?
Hi there I'm assuming since you've been developing it for weeks it is probably SDK based but now that the motorola Xoom System dump is out could you not use it as a base. It being a real device and everything maybe it can help get things working! Like when gingerbread roms were made from the sdk nothing worked but when the NExus s dump came working builds came too...
So could it work?

Indeed is incredible smooth and snapier, what a nice view i saw in this beautifull release of Imilka.
Now will pray for a full working version.
thanks Imilka.
Thanks Been looking for this , I noticed you've posted what doesnt work but if i notice any weird bugs FCs,Ill post up here Thanks Again
had a quick try and i love it already. ironically ipad2 announced yesterday and i was thinking to myself. its just an upgrade, ive never had that 'experience' apple bosses talk about. ive never had my 'ipad' adapt to me, i jailbreak it to make it better. its a os. simple and clean but very limited (ios btw), same system more speed. honeycomb in my opinion is an evolution. its different and better. its what you expect from an upgrade
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!
We are sorry to announce that we will be moving all of our releases away from XDA Developers. As such, we would like to thank XDA for our time here, and are sad to see things end in this way, but it is for the best.

btw keep up the good work and thx!
Wow, a fresh new start !
I have a couple of questions while the tread is tidy
- Can you tell us what you did to improve 720p camcorder ? I definetely see an improvement but it seems not kernel related nor a special tuning of media_profiles.xml
- Is there already a language pack working with chameleon ?
Thank you for your great work

As I was saying previously before old thread was deleted, the cause of Android OS being high has been found and hopefully resolved.
As we haven't released a RC of Chameleon yet, all questions about how we have done this and done that will not be published until we are happy they work correctly. We don't want to cause more damage than good with temporary fixes, I hope you all understand this.

quick question: is there a complete list of features available somewhere?
also, i am currently using 2.2.1 because of the automatic call recording function, however i would like to switch to something new... so, how does the call recording on this rom works? is it automatic, two way proper call recording? output file format?

I'd like to ask, what has been the cause for the Android OS bug that caused the battery drain? Sth. related to the motion sensor? Thx!
The rom is really great and fast.
Although i noticed a few things watching the battery stats:
-Network Location is active a lot, but its turned off in settings.
-Alarm manager is working almost all the time.
-The dialer is active a lot too, i used it only one time today.
-Other processes and apps are running too much i think
(scrolling the battery stats is pretty slow and laggy, this is probably the fault of the official base rom)
