[Q] debranding - Desire General

Hi all, I apologise for asking about debranding but I wanted to be clear about my question
Firstly I have an o2 branded phone , it has 2.2 on it and hboot of 0.93.0001. Not sure if the hboot 0.93 can be debranded
I'm very new to this and I was wondering if anyone had time to bullet point what I need to do, to install the default HTC rom on my phone?
Thanks guys, appreciate this is asked all the time.

1. Make a gold card (Google it or search on here)
2. Flash a WWE RUU (hint: click the one in my signature for the latest one)
Before you do that, get the o2 RUU as backup for if you ever need to return it for warranty purposes

[Q] I just want my DHD with a generic rom

Hello,
I know questions like this are asked a lot, but....
I just got my (Dutch) vodafone branded DHD a few days ago. It has softwareversion 1.75. Only thing I want is it to be unbranded exactly like it comes out of the box from HTC being able to receive official updates from HTC and all that.
Having read numerous tutorials I'm still not sure if this is completely possible. I managed to create a goldcard, but not sure if I really need it. Also I found a generic signed WWE RUU exe-file, I think I need this one unless there's also a generic Dutch RUU exe-file?
Do I need to downgrade (using the goldcard), root and flash this RUU? Or can I flash this right away?
I know it's a lot of questions, but I hope someone wants te point me in the right direction. Coming from a WM device where flashing was easy... Just don't want an expensive brick
Thank you!
Nobody knows?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
SOLVED!
I downgraded via the tutorial using a goldcard which unbranded my device like I wanted! It also receives OTA like I wanted! My DHD is now a generic one!
Hi, Just one question... I unbranded my dhd with the same method. Do you have any idea whether it is possible to get ota's without the goldcard in place?
If your now on a stock unbranded HTC ROM you will get OTA's irrespective of whether you have a goldcard or not. Goldcards are needed to bypass the CID check.

[Q] I have a serious problem about my DHD, anyone can help? thank you in advance!

When I try to use the offical rom, it always stops on " updating signature"( this is my translation, I don't know what the orignal english sentence), what's the problem? Anyone has any idea about that? thank you!
What I have Orange's rom 1.75 on my DHD , and I have a golden card in my phone. That message appeared after formated the user's data.
PS: I'm trying to have the wwe 1.72 on my DHD
You'l need to give us more information than that I'm afraid.
What are you running at the moment and where do you get that message and EXACTLY what have you done to get to that step.
Oh, and you'd best post these is the Q & A forum, but I'm sure some obliging admin will move this for you.....

You need to downgrade to 1.32.405.6 first but first you also need to be rooted eng s-off radio s-off and supercid your phone is locked to Orange so you can't put stock Rom on till you have the above

Thank you very much, but I still want to ask if what you said is a must for upgrade and downgrade or just a must for downgrade?
Normally i would move this to Q&A, but I am a bit sad that it doesn't seem to work. You guys keep posting questions in development. So, I'm closing it.

[Q] Still getting CID incorrect after creating GoldCard

Hello guys,
I have tried to lookup the solution to my problem both on google and at XDA as well however I wasn't successful to find any resolution so I turn to you Android guru's in hope you can help me with this.
I wanted to unroot my Desire and go back to S-ON from S-OFF. I followed the steps on how to create the GoldCard and I successfully created it. However if I download the original RUU in zip file and try to flash it in HBOOT I am still getting the error CID incorrect.
I bought the phone from a retailer here in the Czech Republic and it was supposed to be unbranded and unlocked. However the phone came only with a UK plug so from this I think this phone was supposed to be sold in the UK so there should be installed a UK stock ROM as well. And also is there some way to find out if the phone was debranded? And also one another weird thing. The phone came with installed clockwork recovery. I don't suppose the clockwork recovery is in the stock RUU by HTC.
Thank you very much for your advices!
have a look on turqueys' s thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814381

[Q] Reverting to stock: some questions. (Italian CID?)

Hi to all, I know that this topic has been discussed a lot, but, after a couple of days of reading, I couldn't find all the answer to my duobts; so I'm sorry if something has already been asked, but (as you could probably understand) I want to be 100% sure about the exact procedure.
So a couple of days ago a crack appeared out of nowhere on my LCD screen (just on the inner LCD; the outside glass is unscratched and good as new) so I need to revert my DHD (running ARHD 5.2.3) back to stock for warranty purpose.
Please tell me if this is the correct procedure:
- Put the orignal RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed connecting the DHD to the PC in HTC sync mode and running the exe wich should flash the ROM and the RADIO in the device;
- Use visionary to gain temproot;
- Use Jkolio tool to revert ENG to S-ON (because, as far as I understand, RADIO S-ON would be reverted by the aformentioned RUU exe)
- Use another RUU of my choice (a.e. RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed) to finally get a stock device.
Is this the correct procedure?
Another question.
My device is unbranded and purchased in Italy.
Before flashing the final RUU, should I also put the orignal CID (different from the actual 11111111) using jkolio tool?
In this case do you know wich CID should I use? The unbranded ONE (HTC__001) or the italian one (HTC__405)?
If i change the CID, will it be necessary to use the goldcard to gain the root again?
Sorry if this was asked a lot of time, but I wasn't able to find the answers I need.
Thanks for your time and your responses.
Edit:
For explanation's sake I add that I didn't use the goldcard to gain root in the first place and that using "getprop ro.cid" in terminal emulator, my CID appears to be HTC__405 (the italian one), but in the bootloader is CID-11111111
Sooooo, no answers at all?
Can someone at least say me if radio s-on is reverted by the RUU exe?
Sorry if I insist, but I've to take the device to repair as soon as possible.

[Q] One X with Vodafone branding reflash with original RUU?

Hi Guys!
I have one short question. Today I received my new One X, on power on the phone I saw that this pohone has a vodafone branding. That's not nice and not really acceptable for me.
Now my question:
Is it possible simply flash it with the original hTc Europe RUU (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_ 1.1204.71.08_release_249238_signed.exe) to get an unbranded phone? Or is it not possible to flash it without unlocking the bootloader? I won't flash any custom ROM.
Greetz
Dr. MaRV
Without S-OFF it can't be done at present - you'd have to go custom to remove the branding
Whatever you do, make sure you download the RUU for your phone now (Vodafone DE) so you can always go back if needed
Thank mate for that fast answer.
@DR.Marv
And, did the flah work, or...
