[Q] Voicemail Widget Position? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone having a problem with the voicemail widget positioning on custom roms? I ask because no matter what rom I use, the voicemail widget alignment is off compared to other icons and widgets. By default it is much higher then the other shortcuts. If I try to adjust it, I can only get it much lower then the other icons.
Currently on Epic Experience 2.04
Latest Launcher Pro

Yea the only way I found to get it to line up is to add it to your screen as an application rather than widget. But for me , when I did that I didnt get the red # showing howmany VM'S I had.

I have been experiencing this quirk for a long time now. I'm surprised it has not been addressed. I have no clue what is causing it. It is not the rom and it is not Launcher Pro.

Widgets

I am looking for some decent widgets for example the clock/weather widget that is on the evo. Same with a message widget similar to the one on the evo. Any ideas would be very helpfull. And if anyone has any snapshots of their screens to get some ideas of how to lay them out. Please list what widgets are being used with each screen shot as well. Thanks in advance.
Beautiful widgets it what u want for clock/weather which is a payed app. Only thing I know that has sense like messaging is launcher pro which is free for the basic version. Launcher pro plus is wa worth the money tho.

Can you post some of your screens?
Has anyone ever had any issues with Beautifyl widgets and the animations? I keep getting beautiful widgets needs to connect to the internet and download 1020kb for the forecast animations then it goes to download and doesn't download anything. Any clues anyone?
Sorry don't have access to a computer at the moment. But as far as your question I have not had that problem.

Here is my homescreen using nebula rom 1.0.6 twin jet, themed with the gingerbread theme, icons I found somewhere on here and tweaked a bit, launcher pro dock and, of course, beautiful widgets.
My BW widget skins are myriad-clean for the clock (this will change to either 42blue or blueglownaked when theimpaler releases his new theme) and Bullet_droid for the weather.

[Q] Digital Clock widget not working on EH17

When I switched over to EH17, I noticed the digital clock widget (the one from the Galaxy S2) doesn't show up in my widgets drawer anymore. It's in system/app like before; it just doesn't show up. It use to show up on EG22 and other builds. Is there any reason, or any way to make it so the widget shows up?
I know a few people had this problem, btw.
Thanks.
Anyone have an idea?
Try this one. I've had this running on my EH17. It looks like the one from the SGS2.
Are you using Touchwiz launcher? Lots of Samsung widgets only show up on twlauncher.
Yup. I'm on fr4gger's TW4.5. I had trouble with getting this widget to work like everyone else. Tried all the different versions others posted in the forums, then took to google. I found this one in either rapidshare or megaupload that for some reason worked for me on EH17. Can't argue with the results.
Maybe it won't work on twlauncher above 3.0.

Maybe. Still, I'm not going to look a gift-horse in the mouth. I have not found anyone else who's able to get this widget working on TW 4 with EH17.

Need help customizing home screen

I just flashed Calkulin's E4GT v2.0. It's incredibly, insanely fast and I love it, but that's besides the point. I like the Touch Wiz launcher, but I don't like that I can't (to my knowledge) change what program each icon loads on the bottom of the screen. But I LOVE the agenda widget, the one with the calendar that has things scheduled for today on the bottom. Then there's Launcher Pro. I love that I can change what the icons open, but then I don't have access to the widget I want (to my knowledge). Does anyone know if it's possible/how to fix either of these problems? I wouldn't mind keeping Touch Wiz and just changing which app it opens, if I had a choice, because the icons are brighter and look better
Thanks for any help!
EDIT: Never mind, found my solution!

But if anyone knows if it's possible to use the calendar widget with launcher pro, i'd love to know how!

[Q] Couple questions: Android Weather Widget and Widget Spacing

ICS is driving me a little nuts... First the normal weather and news app cannot seem to find my location. It won't even find me if I manually put it in, city or zip code. Is this because I'm in the US or is this broken?
Second, is there any way I can fix the widget spacing? I put the news, a calendar widget and weather widget on my main page. No matter if they are HTC or Android, the spacing between the widgets is huge and looks terrible. Even adjusting the widget size leaves a huge amount of unusable space.
Appreciate any help!

I noticed the huge gap also in the widgets. I kept trying to move the Google Search widget under the clock and weather but wouldn't go close.
I am guessing this is how it is in ICS?
Anyone find a solution, or are we just the minor few that care?
Unfortunately, between this and the battery life I'm considering returning mine and sticking with my Note.
EDIT: The weather widget is still funky, but I went under settings and even though it wouldn't accept a manual location I used automatic then forced a refresh and it sometimes works.

Unfortunately, despite the large real estate the screen provides, the homescreens are still laid out in a 4x4 grid. So, no matter where you put it, it will still show a gap. Makes no sense, I know. They could've laid everything out in a 5x5 grid. Kinda wastin space. They coulda laid the Vivid out in. 5x4 grid, but they didn't. Sux to have wasted space like that.
You can use Nova or Apex launchers and go to as much as a 7 x 7 grid.

multiple launcher question.

hello, just wondering if having multiple launchers with apps / widgets etc will drain battery or slow phone down? if i am in one launcher and using wifi, then go to another launcher without switching wifi off will it still be running in background somewhere??
Multiple launchers can cause phone slowdown and in turn, use more battery. Why do you need multiple launchers? If you don't like sense flash a new ROM and be done with sense crap

not too sure, i am on a cyanogen nightly, and facied having different home screens, without having to change the theme or rom and then set my settings up. i think cyanogen has adw or something, then go launcher is supposed to be great and holo launcher offered something else (this is going from the descriptions... i have downlaoded them, but not configured yet as thought would ask the above question first...
I've used Holo launcher beforw and I think its pretty good, decent customization options & not resource heavy. Never used Go Launcher before, so can't really comment. CM uses ADW which, personally, I believe is one of the best launchers out there (although I prefer Zeam; uses less battery power and is slightly quicker).

If you mean will wifi still be running, then yes, it should be. It should only switch off if you tell it to.
You can see some launchers on my site if you'd like to get some ideas of how they look.
I use MIUI roms which come with the MiHome Launcher, which is beautifully smooth. (I prefer the 3D Cube animation style.)
I also run Wave Launcher which is designed to run over the top of all other launchers or apps. I totally recommend it for any-screen-you-are-on, quick shortcut convenience.
I don't experience any slow down or battery drain.
Of course the more animations, and other moving eye candy you have, the more work the CPU has to do (CPU cycles). The more work the CPU has to do - the more it uses the battery.
The same applies to live wallpaper, GPS, watching video, keeping the screen on, etc.
