[BOOTANIMATION] X2K2's Smooth Android Boot Animation [CWM or DIY] - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

..:: X2K2's Smooth Android Boot Animation ::..
- Smooth Opening
- Fade in progress bar
- 800x480 images, no scaling
- High quality, no jagged edges or compression artifacts
- Simple, yet appealing design
- Works with Kernels supporting bootanimation.zip (Hardcore's would be an example) (Old Voodoo Kernel not supported, new one should work)
Taken from hardcore's SpeedMod Kernel topic:
If you use a custom boot animation, it will break the playlogos1 boot script hack. Apps and lagfixes which depend on it, for example OCLF, will stop working.
HowTo
CWM: Just put it on your SDcard and apply with CWM.
DIY: Use Root Explorer, mount system as R/W and move bootanimation.zip to /system/media/
Things noticed during development
Initially it had a lot more frames. Over 600 to be precise.
But the boot sequence didn't give enough time to display them all.
Even at high FPS it wouldn't even fully load the first part.
Plus it was more than 17MB at that stage.
Another downside was the incredible slow load.
So I trimmed it down to roughly 5.5MB by removing a bunch of frames.
It actually looks better this way.

CWM version added for people without Root Explorer.

hi X2K2
im currently running darkys v4.1 with voodoo froyo release rom.
will this boot.zip via cwm work?

Should work just fine.
It's ROM independent.

no luck unfortunately...
tried twice now
it may be as im a a novice lol

Hmmm... I tested it twice on my Doc's ROM.
Darky also has CWM and SpeedMod Kernel, so it should work.
Are you sure you grabbed the CWM version?
Reboot to recovery, install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard,
select x2k2_smooth_bootani_cwm.zip, select yes, go back, reboot.

yeah i did all that, im running voodoo though will that cause an issue?

You actually have the Voodoo Kernel, not the Voodoo style lagfix from SpeedMod Kernel?
I don't know if the Voodoo Kernel supports it. :/
Don't think so.

All I can tell you is that I ran this zip rom from Darky in CWM and then R64's theme a few weeks ago...
and tried to install your bootanimation via the process you described in previous posts
im not even too sure if darky changed the kernel.sorry if im not any help....

Ah I see, you're using the Darky version with Voodoo Kernel.
The Darky version with Hardcore Kernel would work though.
Might aswell switch Kernel's since Harcore's Kernel has the same lagfix + sharpness fix.
Not the display colors change though.
You will have to disable Voodoo lagfix first though and then flash the new Kernel.

sweet, thanks for your help and advice, im going to wait for v5.1 to be released before i switch
Cheers again and awesome work btw

Thanks!
And thanks for being a test subject, it's been noted in the first post, that Voodoo Kernel doesn't seem to work.

Very cool but the opening 'blinds' effect is too slow; everything else is great. Nice work.

I've already maxed out the FPS.
I could remove more frames to speed it up.
But I'm afraid it'll look choppy then.
Might aswell give it a try though.

What's the FPS limted to?

Advanced Voodoo 5 Final by trasig & Supercurio's Voodoo 5.0.2, are working fine

Hallo everybody
I've seen your video, and read your instructions, but unfortunately I'm still very naive talking about android phones,I would like to understand how and what I can do to install your boot animation and having your beautiful screenlock.
Thank for your attention
Have a nice day

I think I read somewhere, that it's around ~57FPS.
I've set it to 50FPS.
The weird thing is, it's not actually running at 50, it's below.
But when I set it to 30, then it's even slower.

Yup, it's been noted, that new Voodoo Kernel can handle it.

To use the animation you will need Hardcore's SpeedMod Kernel, or the new Voodoo 5 Kernel. My lockscreen is just the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) default lockscreen. The default lockscreen by Google. It is included in lot of custom ROMs, but can also be applied to standard Samsung ROMs.
If you are on a completely stock phone and new to everything, then I suggest reading the sticky topics in the General section first.

[ROM] 09/08/2010 FroydVillain 1.1.9 BETA - Froyo for Hero with Camera

FroydVillain 1.1.9 INFO & Release Notes:
Hi folks, ninpo has been working on this one non-stop for the past few days, so he is having a well-earned rest, and I'll write up this release.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
REMEMBER the ROM will only be at peak performance after it's been rebooted a couple of times, and when you've opened your apps once prior.
adb install won't work on this ROM, until you tick "Unknown Sources" in the Menu > Settings > Applications menu.
This appears to be a new security feature. Similarly, apps pushed to /data/app won't work either. You might not notice the issue, but the app does not get any of its permissions it should have, meaning that it is probably useless, and might FC constantly or whatever. So remember to tick the Unknown Sources box
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
When you install this ROM, DO NOT USE GOOGLE BACKUP OR RESTORE. It really slows the ROM down, like all Froyo ROMs, and it uses loads of battery even when you think you're not doing anything. So it's not cool. So turn it off in the setup wizard
This ROM does NOT come with the optimal kernel installed. It comes with a safe one. You NEED to read the section "kernels" below for more information about these, and which to choose Then, once installed, open the app "CPUSpeed" and set up your CPU speeds. This ROM uses the interactive governor, which gives much better battery than other governors... So, set interactive as the main governor, then set your minimum and maximum. Then repeat this for sleep mode. If you have a 352MHz base kernel, set both the max and min sleep speeds to be 352 MHz
So... What's changed?
[*]CAMERA WORKS FOR VIDEO AND PHOTOS (thx cyanogen)
Includes DSPManager
Autobrightness fixed
Includes new CPUSpeed app- no need for SetCPU
Faster boot process
New boot animation
Pressing menu twice will unlock screen
Big kernel changes (more info to follow)
Different build method to improve binary performance
So... How do I get it?
A full wipe is MANDATORY for this ROM, regardless of what you're upgrading from
See here for download information etc.

Isn't it safe to let Google Restore do the work restoring all your files and information etc and thén turn it off in the settings? That's what I used to do and it doesn't seem to slow my phone down or consume more battery.
Otherwise. Cheers on this probably amazing ROM once again! Flashing this after I get back from work.

awesome rom, tested a bit and i'm finally gonna drop my 2.1
Just FYI, the two kernel variants (19MHz base or 352MHz base) are for the two different types of Hero users. One group apparently cannot put their phone to sleep at anything less than 352MHz or all hell breaks loose and the others can set low speeds no problem.
So choose based on your past overclocking methods.
EDIT: I'll post a kernel changelog tomorrow. Too tired now. Lots and lots and lots and lots of fixes though.
Just one more quick little question if y'all don't mind.
Does this release include the stock keyboard dictionaries that were missing in 1.1.1? Like Dutch etc.

just flash - or do a dalvik wipe before kernel-flash?
Ok, awesome rom. There is some strange thing in the settings menu - "@221390573215" or something. Pressing it causes a FC.
No need to wipe anything when flashing a kernel.

Yeah it's a bug, my fault. I cheat and use Cyanogen's repo so I don't have to make my own Hero vendor/devices. I didn't strip CMparts out properly in this one.

Hi,
I am currently on MIUI 1.6.10. And would like to try this ROM, considering the posts saying battery is good on this.
For installation do I need to do something different that I am on MIUI? Or normal CMW flash will work?
Thanks,
Sammukh
great!
First impressions are great!
edit: Yes, I got a problem with bluetooth
great rom stable tw4 but has anybody else found that bluetooth does not turn on?
havn't tried blue tooth but will. so far really like rom been on since last night. for me its fast and smooth. i use phone for everyday and this works well.
fixed bluetooth issue by flashing the latest darkcore kernel works fine now Phew!!! cause I really like this rom thanks to a previous poster who mentioned he stayed with the darkcore kernel so I thought i would give it a try edit:- that previous poster was you nex1685 so you should find that your bluetooth works cause you used darkcore where others installing with included kernel may find bluetooth doesnt work (unless it was just something i done)
yes the bluetooth is working Dark_Core_2.7.3_JVP ..THX

To be honest, performance, stability and battery life won't be very different from any of the other MIUI roms. The main 'advantage' I would say this ROM has over the others is that it doesn't include a whole lot of 'bloat' per se.

well. my experience with this rom:
quadrant :
1 - 1636
2 - 1884
3 - 2004
4 - 2029
5 - 2078
6 - I stop here
Seems stable at this moment, but I have it installed for a short time.
at this moment I can not tell about the battery, for the same reason.
I noticed now that there was an update. "the file is smaller"... I will reinstall.
Hi there,
my only issue is really the camera, i really like sammy camera, the quality, very sharp and wonderful colors.
can someone just make a comparison in % on how much does the MIUI camera looks like sammy one? (exemple 60% or 70% or..)
and any other options for the cam?
thanks?

You can get the Widgets on the first home screen... If u miss the widgets soo much just install another Launcher(mayb MIUI with a iPhone theme?)
thanks, i like the look of this rom very much....will test now...p.s. I made aboot animation of the apple logo that sort of pulses if you want it?
::EDIT::
p.s. a quick look on their site says that there is a new version released today, version 2.1....maybe you could port this too? I couldn't work out how to download it ha ha
"Installation
1. Make Sure You're On The Latest CWM"
Where can I find the link to take the last verzion.Thanks.And sorry for my question
just installed, and so far so good.....rom runs very smooth and fast.
only one annoyance that i've noticed is that it very often pops up with an error about updating the system because it's not official version rom? this may be resolved if we can find a way to manually prevent the phone from checking for updates?
any devs know if a way to do this?
::EDIT::
just tested the rom with Data2SDInstallerNXE2.zip and I now have 1gb for app storage and it's running great and smooth still....

if u r talking about this one:
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
then yes) i dont have this issue, or didn't notice before)
I believe he is talking about the modded product ID lines in the build.prop to make A500 games visable to us A100 users (for some reason a100 is not compatable with a bunch of games).

If you want to load games optimized for A500, it is enough to replace a line in build.prop:
ro.product.model=A100 -> ro.product.model=A500
all other necessary modifications are already present there.
Thanks for all quick replies. But I am not talking about A500, even though the issues are the same or similar.
I have many useful apps that I can find on my android phone (GB), NookColor (CM7) and Touchpad (CM9) but not on the A100 device. I tried all ROMs (stock, your ZN version, CM9 and this one), they all have the problem.
One example of those missing apps is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwyLDUwMSwiY29tLmNoYW96aC5pUmVhZGVyRnJlZSJd
I cannot think of a reason of incompatibility since it's a simple eReader
I love it! Maybe this is the excuse to unlock my tablet

Tanks
Fabulous my tablet and can not go faster and smoother 0 problems thanks: O: O: O
I am trying this out now.
The ring displays correctly on landscape but does not on portrait. Some of the Google should be included, like Gmail. I flashed gapps but it did not include gmail.
Since your concern was to have green for android which is a Google OS maybe go ahead and include the Google apps especially Gmail. Thanks. So far it seems to operating okay. We will give it a week and see what it starts doing.

my concern was only about the color of android - the creature created by google..can't get any connections with gmail here
There is some other problem with this rom. A bunch of my gplay apps are coming up as incompatible now, even ones that require no special permissions.
I think if a rom is going to made that is regional it should be posted as such.
Sadly I am going to have to flash another rom.
I had hopes for this rom, maybe if the devs stick with it I will try again in future.
Thanks for your effort.
Hey ZN I installed your stock theme zip and was wondering if there was a way to get that cool wallpaper you have in the pictures on the first post...thanks

Hey ZN and Igcmn...I notice that sometimes when waking the tab up from sleep mode or returning to the homescreen it tends to automatically go to landscape mode....and stays there...won't flip to portrait....i either have to reboot for it to work (in which it will return back to landscape) or if I try other things (games that only do portrait etc) then i t will work
