[Q] Trouble installing GApps with CyanogenMod - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I finally managed to get CyanogenMod 6.1 up and running, and I proceeded to download the GApps bundle from here, making sure it was HDPI. I flashed it and it installed fine, phone booted, etc. The only thing is, I can't find Android Market. The wiki says it's included, but I can't find it anywhere after flashing this. GMail is there, as well as maps and everything else.
I've tried emailing myself the vending.apk file (tried a few different versions), and then opening/installing it from my phone after enabling apps from unknown sources. It recognizes it as the market app, tries to install, and then gives me the message "Application not installed" over the progress bar after about a second.
I then restored to my backup of a fresh Cyanogen install, tried clearing all the cache (both regular and Dalvik) and then reinstalling, but one of two things happens:
Either I get stuck in the Cyanogen loading screen, or after booting and loading the "touch the android to continue" screen, I get an error, the screen goes blank except for the status bar at the top, and rebooting only brings back the infinite Cyanogen screen.
I love Cyanogen, but I also need market. Is there any way to install it manually that will work?

Market not downloading

I'm new to Desire and having loaded some apps successfully, I perhaps got too confident and was loading up six when I found it not loading. I stopped loading them and tried loading individually and others but each time had to go in and stop the loading.
So if I now go into Market and try loading one of the Downloads it says "starting download" and gets no further. So I can only cancel it.
Knilly answered my problem which was due to changing from @googlemail to @gmail. Change it back on your PC.

[Q] Standard rom - Can't find or download any app from android market

Hi all,
I have a standard HTC desire on which I lately have problems with the android market app.
Yesterday I could not download any updates from installed apps - I got the "download failed, try again" message.
I tried to empty the cache from the market app, tried to restart the phone and I also found a suggestion to empty the android_secure folder on the sd-card. That didn't work either.
Then someone suggested I'd reset my phone to factory settings, but unfortunately without succes. Since doing that (both before and after restoring my backup'ed apps and data) I get the same message again. I am not able to update any app I have on my phone at this stage - they are displayed in the market app but downloading fails.
(I was at first able to select apps I already had installed on my phone from the market-website via my laptop browser and have them delivered to my phone, but that stopped working also - it weren't the updates anyway.)
Now every time I start the market app it crashes the first time I start it and then after restarting it displays the message "Application not found" for any app I select (either to be updated or new apps).
Anyone who can help me on this one?
Apparently the problem solved itself. I had the feeling the phone performed much slower though and did another reset to factory settings and since that everything works fine again!
Problem solved...

HELP:

**sorry for the thread title, it won't let me edit it. Was supposed to be "Help: android.process.acore error after Marshmallow update"**
Hi, I updated my HTC One M8 (stock ROM) to Android 6 via an OTA update sent to the phone.
The update went fine - no error messages. But after the final reboot, I am getting constant (and I mean constant, not every few seconds) errors that all processes are stopping. Particularly, after everything else has stopped, I get repeated messages about android.process.acore, android.process.media, and Sense Home unexpectedly stopping (I guess these are the ones that keep starting up and failing). By pressing "OK" or "close" on these messages, sometimes I can press something very quickly before another message pops up. In this ridiculous manner, I was able to do/find out the following:
- Pressing the home button shows me the white screen with "htc" written on it, like on phone startup, or sometimes a black screen
- Pressing the recent-apps button actually does show me the recent apps and I can click on them, though most of them just close right after I open them. Some of them work -- like I can receive phone calls (I just don't hear the phone ring, and I have to press the "talk" button in between pressing OK on error messages).
- I can get into the settings screen. In this way, I tried:
- Disabling one by one every app I could, including Google Services Framework and Google Play services which were giving repeated "stopped" error messages - but I still get the android.process.acore & Sense Home errors and no UI
- Clearing cache & data for all contact & calendar app I could find, and also for Google Services Framework and Google Play services and some others
- Going into Developer Options and viewing active services - I stopped all active and cached services and process I could, to no avail
I also tried booting into recovery mode and wiping the cache partition.
Nothing works!! Please can anyone help me save my phone without doing a factory reset? Unfortunately, since I started the Android update by accident (pressed "now" instead of "later"), I didn't backup anything beforehand... and while my contacts and calendars are always backed up, my apps & preferences & media files are not. I also tried connecting to a computer via USB, but while the computer recognizes the phone, I cannot actually access the files (I see it as a drive, but when I open it there are no files or folders, and the HTC sync SW does not recognize it) - so no possibility to back up the files in that way...
Thank you!!
Yael

How to fix crashing rooted Tab 3 sm-t210 WiFi, after F-secure being installed?

My tab 3 device is rooted with King0root, that worked well.
I downloaded and installed the root app from Firefox when I was logged into the Tab3 because downloading from Odin in Windows did not work (due to driver problems).
F-secure is installed from Google Play.
Odin also didn't seem to work on other (Windows) computers and I tried the different Odin versions.
The only Odin version that seemed to work was 3.07, but because the status bar was missing on the Tab3 while loading, I knew something went wrong.
After F-Secure was installed, everything first worked well, but that was short-lived.
After about 3 weeks, Tab3 was restarted, F-secure message windows appeared immediately after logging in with the text 'program has stopped' and within a minute the crash and restart.
F-secure stop and delete failed, because the system crashes randomly.
King0root cannot be stopped or deleted either.
In recovery mode, I deleted user data / factory settings and deleted the cache, all of which have no effect.
In safe mode, the apps cannot be stopped or deleted either.
With Heimdall-Frontend I could only flash individual parts from stock ROM on Tab 3.
A status bar was displayed during loading.
But after the flash is completed and Tab 3 is restarted, there is no noticeable change because all added apps remain.
The system also continues to crash randomly.
The only thing that changed after flashing is the date / time that was reset to the build date, that's all.
When flashing 'system.img' it was noticed that the Tab 3 is restarted immediately after completion.
When flashing all the other components, it took a few seconds for Tab 3 to restart.
To me it seems that with such a quick restart 'system.img' will be removed.
That would explain why no 'real' changes were made when restarting after the flash has been completed and the user data has been erased.
Now this thing seems to be 'soft bricked'.
Can someone help me solve this?
Another boot loader was proposed, who can help with that?

Today I quit trying to repair the Tab 3 device as hardware starts to fail. The combination 'power' with 'volume up/down' fails, then I guess it's game over. So I discarded the device and checked TechRadar for a new device where quatlity/price is right, combined with black friday offers I now have got myself a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 WiFi tablet.

A320FL rooted - After factory reset at initial setup Google Play services crashes

My phone is a Samsung A3 2017 - model SM-A320FL. Specs: Stock rom oreo, TWRP 3.3.0, magisk 19. The phone worked fine, but got slower and less free space over time. So today I decided to do a factory reset.
- I booted to TWRP
- Format Data
- Reboot to recovery
- Format Internal Storage (to make space)
- Installed RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2 and no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
- Installed Magisk 19
- Didn't install TWRP system app.
- Reboot to system
Phone boots and I get the initial setup welcome screen to select a wifi network. After that Google setup starts, presents eula, and is looking for updates, but after a few minutes I get the message that the Play services stopped (app stopped) and Google setup starts again. Endlessly. I don't know how to solve this. I did a new factory reset, tried a newer version of magisk (20.4), but no success. Every time the same error message pops up and I can't get pass this screen.
I don't get it, because nothing changed since the last time I was able to install TWRP and magisk. Same ROM, same software versions.
Anybody?
So let me update my own post. I managed to skip the initial setup, by removing my sim card and also not selecting a wifi network. Then you can continue and don't have to log into Google. After finishing the initial setup I still had issues with setting up Google play. Every time I started the setup, the app crashed. I download a recent version of the Play Services and installed the apk. But no luck. I also tried to copy it to the system apps folder in the hope it will be installed with a factory reset. But also no success. In the end I had to restore stock rom with odin, and then reinstall twrp and magisk. That was for me the only way to fix this issue. Hopefully this helps others with the same problem.
