hi, i have just rooted my desire and flased to Leedriod 2.2f rom. May i know wt is radio? wt's the diff between the latest one? I am a hk user, can I also flash into the latest radio? and how to flash the new radio? Will the data in the phone be erased?
You can find your radio version in software settings, it's the "baseband".
There isn't a changelog for radios as their performance differs for various reasons.
A given radio isn't limited to a certain carrier or rom.
You should flash it like you flash custom roms (don't pull the battery in the process, let it reboot a few times).
And finally, it will not erase any data.
is it i no need to care whether the radio is for europe or Asian? I can flash to the any radio version as I like?
Yes.

I bought a DHD that already has S-OFF and currently using Android Revolution HD/4G 2.1.
I want to update to the latest Android Revolution HD (5.1.10) and just want to confirm some things...
It is recommended to flash Radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 and I am currently using 26.03.02.26_M. Is it a must to update the Radio? and will I also need to update the Kernel?
No, it's not a must to update the radio. It's only recommended. You can flash whatever radio you desire. And no. A kernel is included in the rom but if you like to flash a new kernel you can do that.

Anyway, although is a risky process, doing it through fastboot is not very difficult to do. I don't know how it goes with another radio since I updated mine to install ARHD.
Thanks guys. got it all working good now.
The newest ARHD always includes new radio.

are you 100% on this? I was sure radio had normally to be flashed via fastboot not through clockwork, respect to the developers if they do go to the trouble of integrating the flash of the radio into the rom though
I can confirm that ARHD does not include a new radio, just RILs for the recommended radio.

Dev says to flash radio they feels better for their ROM.
I've installed AR 5.1.10 and flash new radio....
it's really easy...really....just extract downloaded file and read the guide inside! (3steps...)
Hi,
I have rooted my wildfire and installed some roms.. now with my current animos-sense rom i couldnot get my network signal properly.
Can i backup the radio from my stock rom so that i will flash it afer installing custom rom?
If you are using a standard GSM HTC Wildfire, you can get the Radios from here, since they are common for all GSM Wildfire's across the globe.

No. Custom roms won't touch the radio and hboot.
Only stock roms (= RUU or OTA) will overwrite them.
Also you can update radio from recovery or from S-OFF hboot if needed.

I have just recently rooted and s-off my desire HD and now i'm looking to flash a new rom.
Do I need to wipe the phone before I flash a new one?
do I need to flash a new radio as well?
This is my first time doing this.
also could you suggest a rom that is stable and will give better battery life.
Android Revolution HD is popular among these forums. Very stable and excellent battery life.
You will need to wipe the phone as you are coming from a different ROM. Had you been coming from the same ROM albeit an earlier version, then you wouldnt need to wipe. In all other cases you do need to wipe.
You do not need to flash a radio unless you are having problems with the current one. This is because flashing a radio has a much greater risk of causing problems than flashing a ROM does. Therefore try to keep radio flashing to a minimum. Although it is recommended to flash the recommended radio for each ROM you install. Most of the time however the same radio is recommended for many ROMS.
If you need any help with the steps just ask and we will do our best to help

Android Revolution HD? That would require a full wipe, a new radio for a better battery life. (All given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040)
Looks like I'm slow
I have had a look on the android revolution hd rom page, and according to how I read things, am I right in thinking that I would have to flash the radio on this page to be compatible with the rom?
I read somewhere that if the rom is not compatible with the radio you can run into major problems.
how would I check if my existing radio is compatible with this or any other rom.
since I am new to this, I would rather not flash a new radio till I become more confident in what i am doing.
I have read the rom flashing guide, and the process seems straight forward, but its the radio and rom compatible issues that i am concerned about as I do not want to brick my phone.
When flashing new rom and radio, wich one should be done first

Both work, I flashed radio first but many people also flashed Rom first, no problems.
Regarding competibility of ARHD and stock radio, it is compatible, just that you may suffer some battery loss etc
Sent from my ARHD powered, HTC Desire HD, click thanks if I helped you.
I have the stock HTC Wildfire ROM with Baseband Radio, after many tries of flashing roms (Stock, Custom...etc), the performance of radio some how got effected by dropping calls many times and other GSM and 3G issues.
The question now, can I install the baseband radio without losing S-OFF, Root, ROM or other apps, patches?
If possible, how any walk-through to do for Wildfire with CWM and Cyanogenmod 7.2?
Thanks!
U can flash the radio without loosing root!
If u want to flash the radio. Then the first thing to do is download the latest one. .....20.10 i belief. Put it on the root of your sdcard.
Then you need to boot in recovery 2.5.x by rommanager and execute the radio zip. Wait a few moments and your radio is flashed.
That will flash the radio. There is a risk for flashing the radio!!!!! and u cant solve it by a nandroid.
If it is not the radio, then i dont know what is wrong...

Hi, I was just wondering what happens to custom radio when I flash stock rom? Will I get the stock radio back or do you know where I can download the stock radio?
Thanks

Which radio were you running and which one are you running now? It all depends on how you root your device. If you unlock the bootloader, then nothing happens, but if you run the hack kit, you will have the lastest 2.3.3 radio, but as you would be S-OFF you can flash the radio you want back again.

Radios are never a must. You can use ARHD with the radio you have at the momento and the rom will run ok. Radios are suggested by the developers as they test or assess several radios in the process of developing the rom. However, you can still use the radio you have and probably will never experience any bug.
If you want to flash a new radio, you can always go back to the previous one as long as that file is to download. Check the radio threads to see how to flash a radio and always make sure that you check that the md5sum match.
If you need further help use the guide in my signature...
Nothing will happen to radio if you flash a stock ROM in recovery. The radio only changes if you manually flash one, or if you run an RUU. Radios are region specific and if your country uses less common frequency bands, then the one for your region will be the best. Latest is not best for radios.

12.56.60.25x_26.10.04.03_M
Settings->About->Baseband version
