[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Gingerbread Keyboard for Rooted Devices
Gingerbread Keyboard is out for the DroidX and Droid2. Are there any developers that can help get it ported to the Incredible??

I flashed it and it works on the inc too.

Roger that, its working for me. Its taking a bit to get used to the keys in landscape mode though. They seem a bit flat.

This doesn't have word prediction though......and doesn't auto fix my words.

Doesn't work for the desire z port. :/

How so I go to stock kb on fresh 3.2

The title basically says it all. How do I go to the stock android keyboard instead of the HTC one. The HTC one is always laggy for me after awhile so I want the stock one. How do I change it?

Fresh 3.2 brings 2 keyboards: touch input and HTC_IME mod... just press and hold on any text field and select input method, from there you can switch to the other kb
Ok cool I got there once before and couldn't remember how. So is there a way to get the stock or the Droid x keyboard maybe. The HTC one just gets laggy on me and I want to so some testing to see what is better.

New keyboard

There's a new kb on the market called SwiftKey X and its pretty bad as.. I it can look throughout sms, gmail, twitter and facebook to pick out your typing habits and kinda learns how you type/talk.. Nice setup and the word prediction is outta this world.. for instance it will let you type a few words and actually predict what you're next words will be... Check it out I promise you won't be disappointed
* I'm just sayin......
Ya I have the original SwiftKey keyboard. SwiftKey X so far doesn't want to play nice with Keyboard Manager, and the hardware keyboard, though. I use Swype for portrait and SwiftKey for landscape and it's gotten stuck with the alt button a couple of times and I had to switch to another keyboard. But I think it'll be really good when they get the bugs worked out.

Keyboard

I currently use Smart Keyboard by Dexilog but recently since I've been using ICS based ROMs it sometimes stops working. I'm not talking about force closing, I'm talking about when I start to type it doesn't respond and I have to use to fingers to get it working.
My question is: 'What is the best keyboard app and is it worth the price advertised?'.

Xtremely powerful and wonderful either!
SwiftKey X

I agree with the use of Swiftkey. I've been using it for more than a year now, and it's an excellent keyboard; by far the best prediction engine I've ever seen.
+1 for swiftkey..really nice keyboard

autocorrect keyboard

Does anyone have suggestion for a keyboard that autocorrects? (maybe the stock android keyboard?) I'm running Jedi but the autocorrect doesn't automatically replace the mis-spelled words I have to manually click on the suggestion, and it doesn't come with the stock keyboard.
Jelly bean keyboard pro. Working good for me. With auto correct.

Stock aosp keyboard is the way to go. Google android 4.2 keyboard apk and just install it like any other app.

Another option would be SwiftKey 3 which is on sale right now. I was a little bit hesitant to buy a keyboard when the stock one was so good. However, the auto correct was a big deal for me. You're right in that the others have to be manually selected. Even more so, if you accidentally start the word with a number, it then has no idea. However, with SwiftKey, everything is good to go. I am actually able to type without even looking. Part of this is due to skill at typing in general but the rest of it is how amazingly accurate the correction is. Just my two cents.

SwiftKey is a great keyboard and time saver. Been using it since the original beta.

Swiftkey is great and its prediction is near telepathic once you've used it a while and it learns from you. I have been using Swiftkey Flow lately and I like having the option to "swype". The only gripe I have is that there is no separate line for numbers. Having to long-press or change the layout to numerical really slows things down, especially at work.
4.2 keyboard.

Homemade swype keyboard

Hypothetically speaking, if one found a keyboard they liked but the only thing missing was swype, could a developer rebuild the app to include it? I'm really liking A.I.type keyboard but no swype capability is a bummer. Just curious.

Anything is possible, though I would think that's too much work to reverse engineer something that's already available on the play store and fits 99% of people's needs.
As it turns out, while using the keyboard the app prompted me to leave feedback and of course I told them it was awesome but would love to see swype integrated and they actually emailed me last night and told me they were currently working on putting it in.

I really like the stock keyboard but I like the layout options they have on theirs. I can put up the "period" key, "comma" key, smiley face, mic key, and numbers keys all at the same time without needing any of them to be long press keys. You can also adjust the keyboard height from the keyboard itself without going into settings. It seems to be a lot more convenient to use the keyboard this way.
