I know it involves booting up into recovery mode, but I'm lost after that.
Go into ROM Manager and select "Reboot into Recovery". Then the phone will reboot into Clockwork recovery. Then you will see various options, including "wipe cache partition". I presume that's the one you are after ? Or you can go into the "Advanced" bit and there's an option to wipe the Dalvik cache.

I installed CM7 7.1 RC1 yesterday and have a question regarding updates. I can see a lot of nighly builds (on quarx site). Can someone write/explain (or point me to thread [couldn't find any]) how to install newer versions (nighlies) over the working CM7?
The basic procedure is as follows:
- Disable USB Debugging
- Reboot to recovery
- When led flashes blue, press volume down
- Select "Custom Recovery", "Stable"
- Select "wipe cache partition" then "wipe data/factory reset"
- Select "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", then select the nightly zip
- Select "Go Back"
- Select "reboot your system now"
Sometimes you don't want to wipe data; Just skip that step. If stuff fails, you can always try wiping data later.
Great stuff! It's working. Didn't know that it it so straight forward .
if you wanna follow the nightlies you dont have to wipe data on each update. you can keep all the apps and settings by only perform "wipe cache" then go advance and wipe dalvik cache.

...and wipe cache, wipe dalvik is important for killing some bugs,as I experienced before install zip and once again after too.
In this tutorial they suggest me to wipe my Cache, but I didn't find it in the bootmenu.
Is "wipe Cache" similar to "Wipe Cache partition"? And tell me the name of the bootmenu entry, if I'm wrong, please
Go to recovery in bootmenu. Then select custom recovery and wipe cache there
Sent from my MB526 using XDA
What are you talking, about?
Sorry, but in my custom recovery, there is no "wipe cache" entry there is only "wipe cache partition". I'm using stock ROM

hello there, i have been searching this thresd but no answer.
im on 4.2.2 stock takju, When selecting the 'wipe cache partition' in stock recovery, the system reboots after a couple of seconds. I think it used to return to the recovery menu. Is that normal?
even with "fastboot erase cache" -----> same result.
hi...i'm new here..i'm italian...very nice forum...my arc seems to be a new phone with your daily new rom!!!!:good:
now i have SJB 7.1 with Super Fusion Kernel V3...nice rom really...but i have a problem...when i push power button and choose "recovery" option, the phone restart in normal mode as i push the simply "reboot" option and when i go in CWM and try to wipe cache or dalvik cache, phone restart in bootloop and the only things to do is make a recovery or reinstall all the rom
have you got same problem???
thank everybody and sorry for bad english
Before installing your ROM wipe Data/factory reset ,wipe cache, select mounts and storage and select "format system " and then delvic. THis should stop the bootloop.
To access CWM just use the power button and the volume down button.
Hi everyone,
Years ago I switched to nexus 5 because of a seriusly boot looped Gnexus. Now I'd like to fix it, if it's possible obviusly.
I can't remember how Gnex got bricked very well, but I can list some of my attempts to solve the problem. (I suppose you useful to know that the phone is unlocked and rooted with CWM recovery installed. Fastboot drivers are intalled in my windows 10 PC and also Unified Android Toolkit v1.6.4).
I tried to format everything by CWM with these options: "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache partition", "wipe dalvik cache", "format sdcard", "format system", "format cache", "format data", "format multimedia". After rebooting, if I go to "install zip from sdcard" I see that my data appears again. I suppose that operations from CWM failed. If I normally reboot the device, it gets bootlooped again.
I tried to flash a custom ROM stored in memory from CWM, but it seems that this operation doesn't work. I tried from toolkit and cmd promt too.
I tried to intall a new recovery like TWRP. After rebooting, CWM appears again. I also use cmd promt "fastboot erase recovery" but nothing happens.
If I try to unroot or lock bootloader again, a successful message appears in cmd window. After reboot nothing changes.
I tried removing battery before every attempts.
Someone can suggest other ways to fix my device?
