Hello, to all. I am a newbie to this forum and would like some advice. I have completed all steps to root my EVO 4g and I keep running into a problem when I use the unrevoked application to wireless tether device. Once I hit start I receive a message that isn’t on the screen very long, “ah fargh it couldn’t creat the goddam marker.” I am unsure to what this means. I have completed all necessary driver downloads and installed the unrevoked forever zip file. Can anyone please assist me in my quest to be awesome with this evo 4g? I have also copied the clockwordmod log to state what message I am getting. It is as follows:

I had this same issue when using simply the unrevoked 3.22 application. My radio is: 2.15.00.09.01
I needed to manually download the unrevoked-forever.zip, place it on my sdcard, and flash it using recovery. When you get to this point in the process, you should have an active recovery (like clockwork), that you can use for this.
What surprised me, was that I didn't even alter my radio. I had prepared to need to downgrade my radio, but it wasn't even necessary. Once I manually tried to flash unrevoked-forever.zip, it just worked.

This sounds like a piece of cake, but I'm just not seeing it.
The DHD has the ClockWork Mod installed.
I did the bootloader edit to get a permanent root.
Now I want to get the stock HTC rom back on it (no root, original recovery).
I've tried the .exe RUU, but it didn't work.
Installing the rom.zip with CWM also gave an error:
Installing: SDCARD:rom.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/rom.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
What else can I do? Please don't say 'Flash the original ROM' because I don't exactly know what it means. A (moderate) step by step guide would be very, very nice.
Added log from ROM Manager:

Just flash the PD98IMG zip through the bootloader.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Can you give me a link and tell me how to flash it?
I couldn't manage it myself, sorry. I've tried..
Rename rom.zip to PD98IMG.zip. Copy and paste PD98IMG.zip to dir SD card. Run bootloader and follow the instructions on the screen.

this will overwrite EVERYTHING (clockworkmod recovery and HBOOT) so be careful if you need them.
Hi guys,
I am looking for same, where can I find the PD98IMG.zip?
Thanks.
PS. I am new to Android stuff, but have used CWM, Cyanogen, LeeDroid etc.
Try using the RUU for 1.32 or 1.72. It's easier
However, if you want the zip, go to the 1.72/1.82 downgrade thread in the android developement section. You should find it there

So just run the .exe and its good? Im assuming we'll loose S-OFF, Radio-OFF, and Root right?
sorry my first post is me with cap in hand but im in need of some help please.
had my dhd for 4 days now, done a bit of research and set about flashing a new rom to it, i rooted, h boot and s-off'd the device and flashed a CyanogenMod 7 rom to it, i got everything set up the way i wanted it and though it would be good idea to make a nandroid back-up, i had already done one of the stock rom and used it to restore when the first image i used was pants but this time i got a "cant mount /system/!" error.
i can mount the card on my pc through the phone and have tried cleaning the contacts on the memory card but its not helping, i tried copying my previous back up to my pc and emptyed the clockworkmod folder but it didnt help. can any one help please as i really dont like not being able to back up my system and dont like the idea of maybe not being able to restore an image either!
this is what was in the error log.

I did some reading before I posed this. I am in the process of testing roms and I did a backup of my original sprint rom and kings rom nightly. I used the backup before for kings, restored and it worked. I read that it can be the battery to low or not enough space on my sd card but thats not my case. I copied and pasted below of what the log said..

I'm having a hard time getting an HTC Desire (A8181) upgraded to Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 and I need some help. I've done successful upgrades of Desires in the past using either Gold Card's/RUU's or unrevoked/Rom Manager.
In this case the Desire is running vanilla Android 2.2. This was an upgrade from the original operator (O2 UK) 2.1 build via Gold Card/RUU.
I've run unrEVOked 3.3.2 on it. This reported that it had completed successfully and I have Superuser Permissions in the list of apps and its showing when apps request root access.
I've installed Rom Manager v4.5.0.1 and running ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0.
All attempts to run any ROM installs/ROM Backups or Fix Permissions fail. A typical Recovery log looks like the following:
Code:
Starting recovery on Wed Oct 12 16:50:07 2011

As nothing seems to work I've looked at the Superuser Permissions app and have tried to upgrade it from the Market, This fails with a "Package file not signed correctly" error.
After this I've run Superuser Update Fixer which reports that the signatures don't match. But when I run the app to implement the fix it crashes after having been granted root permissions. The Force option is not selectable so I seem to be stuck.
Can anyone advise on how I should proceed from here?
Thanks
Alan
I am not sure what those codes are but if you notice that the first few lines said the following..
Code:
Starting recovery on Wed Oct 12 16:50:07 2011
can't open /dev/tty0: No such file or directory
framebuffer: fd 3 (480 x 800)
[B]ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7[/B]
It's running tha different recovery from what you said you've upgraded to.
I say ditch ROM manager and do the upgrade manually. Run recovery by powering down and accessing it via long pressing Volume down+Power. Wait for it to load then select Recovery on the menu. Do a nandbackup for safe measure.
Wipe system, dalvik, and cache. Flash the new ROM which you need to download and save to the root of your SD card prior to doing the steps above.
Thanks for the help.
A manual upgrade has worked O.K.
I still seem to have an outstanding problem in that having installed the Google apps Market almost immediately upgraded itself and is unstable. It runs for a few seconds and then crashes.
I can installed apps remotely, but I'd like to fix this one.

remove /system/app/marketupdater.apk from the zip before flashing. Dont unzip the zip, just open it in winrar or something, edit and exit with the x.
Just for info...
I've been out over lunch time. When back on a data network Market has upgraded itself again and is looking stable.
Thanks for the responses.
