Coming from Go Launcher, none of this is new.
cool, faster than Go Launcher
Pretty fast, I like it! The app drawer is sooooo smooth (compared to launcherpro). but launcherpro widgets are too useful lol. I run like 4 launchers on my sgs lol.

I agree but go launcher still falls short when compared to ADW and launcherpro in terms of customization options available.
I think it's the best one

But why Christmas present ? Do I have to pay for my presents ?
BR O.J.
Gingerbread launcher has blown everything else out the water for me at the moment. Basic but solid and fast. I have not used my LauncherPro for ages now.
Installed this yesterday and while launcher pro is good this EX version is by far the most advanced launcher out there. For starters there is icon and label scaling, easy icon swapping for not just schortcuts but also folders. Groups in the app tray (although I haven't figured out how they work exactly.) And custom animations. Definitely worth the couple bucks and the small hassle of switching.
IMO this just raised the bar and it should force some new features in the competing launchers which is always a good thing.
only 2 swype gesture, not good for me
Isn't this launcher open source? What's stopping anyone from making a free fork?

The EX version is not open source.
another FREE fast Launcher is: Zeam Launcher
Anyone else unable to backup ADW settings? I could the first time but it now give me a "Error backing up ADW settings" message. I can backup the desktop config just fine.
Best launcher I've tried and I've tried them all.

Yeah that's the best one, soo much customizable and smooth. I'll miss the Launcher Pro glass dock BTW
Is it me or can't you change the dock in adw launcher?

Same issue here as well...
"Backup desktop configuration" is working without any problem. But ADW settings has got an error message only.
Hi I've now tried 4 different launchers and I can't make up my mind.
What launcher is generally the best, keeping up the speeds etc?
I just can't make up my mind. Any good suggestions?
I use LauncherPro on mine and really like it
Don't know about what is the "best launcher", whatever you like/feel most comfortable with.
I use Launcher Pro myself with Desktop Visualizer to theme my phone.
Have been a big LauncherPro fan but have recently been using ADW EX ..... its very quick and very pretty (great animations etc)
Try them all and see what you like

What 4 launchers did you try? So far i only used Launcher Pro & i'm happy with it.
Top 3 for me. ADW EX, GO, LauncherProPlus.
as a launcher i find the newest adw very smooth.but as i love the launcherpro plus's widgets,i choose it
I'm using launcherpro free version and it has everything I need as home app.

I just love the ADW EX version with all it's animations and smoothness. The developers that combines these things with LP+ widgets gets my vote. Now I just switch between them depending on mood.
Zeam was an excellent launcher on my low-end Pulse, it ought to make the Defy grow wings, but it's not that customizable.

I use zeam. Have used a few and this one does what i want it to do.
Just try a few different ones.
After reading the fora, I went with what seemed like the majority consensus, and on the third day of owing my Defy (my first Android phone), I bought LauncherProPlus. That was couple of months ago, and LauncherPro is all that everybody says. Now, I just installed the Go Launcher, and I have to say that it's superior. The two are so similar in concept that it might have been the same team that designed both, but the Go Launcher, in addition to doing everything that LauncherPro does, has features that make it much more useful and nicer to use. It has, for example, an intuitive interface for organizing apps into folders, in addition to hiding the unnecessary ones. Then it has a couple of settable gestures, the swipe up, and swipe down with which one can hide the notification bar, for example. It's 5x5 icons on the home screen implementation is flawless, unlike in LauncherPro, and the widget resizing method is also easier. Just nice touches all around, and none of them gimicky.
i use adw launcher ex their are so manny different options if you like playing with them you can get it just how you like. its also the speediest i think
I would try HE launcher its free and simple. It has the best of all worlds.

I tried Launcher Pro, LG Home, ADW and of course the standard Motoblur...
I'm kinda after something quick and smooth, doesn't have to be 15 homescreens etc. Um, I posted the original thread to see what tips you guys got.
//Dave
I use zeam launcher. it's a minimal launcher with low memory's consumption, but there is no cutomization.
Wow, thanx for all tips!
Will now have to try the Go launcher, have to get ADW EX another go as well as HE Launcher.
//Dave
Totally agree. Go Launcher is the one for me. Tried pretty much everything else and chose this one. LauncherPro is my second option. But I think Go Launcher is everything LaucnherPro is, and more. =)

You can't. That's one thing I found out on the Defy. If you install any other launcher the original Blur launcher cannot be selected. I've tried Home Switcher, having two launchers and trying to clear defaults, and any other thing you can think of. The only way to get Blur back is to uninstall all other launchers.
Not true....install an app called homesmack from the market....it is free and will allow u to switch very easily

Hey all,
Recently installed ADW launcher to replace launcher pro and im pretty happy with it with one exception. I can't seem to get the Dialer onto my home screen. I've looked in the app drawer, i have tried searching through shortcut, custom shortcut and widgets and also launcher actions.
Anyone have a solution. The closest thing I can find is direct call and direct message.
So you can't find your dialer in the application list which is strange btw? What if you install touchpal dialer for instance? Its free from the market and happens to be my default one....

Hi guys,
First of all, thanks for reading.. Anyways, does anyone of you use GO Launcher on your arc? If you do, how was it compared to the default launcher of arc?
I just don't have access with my arc right now, not until 3 days from now..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 or XPERIA Arc using Tapatalk
Simple, just go to Setting - Application - Manage Application then find GO Launcher. After you found it, set the Launch by default into Clear defaults. Finally, press home button.
Hope it helps you
i think he asked for a comparison not a how-to...
on topic: its fine. i disliked the default home launcher because i couldn't create additional home screens with it so i went for go launcher ex. it doesn't support the exclusive SE media widgets though (timescape, media player, etc.) so if you can live without those, give go launcher a try.
I Don't like Go Launcher :\
I don't

Its the only one that I tried, but I can tell you that I do really like it, specially because of the themes you can apply (future world is the one im using atm)
ive been using GO launcher, SPB shell and the default launcher on the newest update. I love GO launchers customization! I find its bad on battery, though spb has the greatest efficiency.
If you go for GO launcher you should try all the GO dev teams apps, they are amazing.
i like go launcher.. its good...
Once I tried LauncherPro and never looked back or tried other launchers. It is awesome

I used to be the same but then I gave ADW a try instead and now I can't see myself going back to LauncherPro.
@ Step666
Hahaha. Ditched LauncherPro after the competition?
Ditched it ages ago - the screenshot that I entered into the competition was ADW.
Ahh, I stand corrected.
Ive had adw for a time now and been trying the launcher 7 past days. I like it except the lack of nice icons and you cant really get any widgets good.
So is there any other launcher worth tryin?
yea tried Regina to that one doesnt really have anything.
Tried LauncherPro Plus, GO Launcher EX, and SPB Shell 3D on my Arc (@1.4GHz).
-LauncherPro Plus: nice and fast but no progress in development.
-GO Launcher EX: less fluint than LaucherPro but more customization and eyecandy. Also fast development.
-SPB Shell 3D: fastest and most eye candy. But needs more customization. Have to try the new version though.
For me at the moment: GO Launcher Ex > LauncherPro Plus > SPB Shell 3D
In a few months it's probably: SPB Shell 3D > GO Launcher Ex > LauncherPro Plus
adw ex is the best......
yes and ADW , QQ launcher pro.
I've always returned to adw ex, tried launcher pro, go launcher, helix launcher, spb shell, rocket launcher, zeam, honeycomb launcher, regina 3d and many more. Go launcher is ok, a bit gimmicky for my liking, and don't see the point in launchers that mimic another os like windows or ios.

Yes, using it here, and loving it. The messaging and twitter widges with transparent theme look fantastic and the transition effects make it look really swish.
My only gripe is with the position of the Xperia's buttons on the bottom face, sometimes you click them rather than the launcher go icon bar...
Dear all,
I want to learn that how can I add or remove additional homescreen pages from Galaxy Nexus. There is no information about this even google. Before there was an icon for displaying all homescreen pages and you could add or remove new homepages.
Thanks,
What launcher are you using?
If the answer is stock you cannot add or remove pages.
you cant add or remove homescreens on the stock launcher
if you want to do that, you need to install a third-party launcher from the market
I have tried Nova launcher which works pretty well and is based off of the stock ICS launcher
I am using original firmware, not custom rom and it is pure ICS. What do you advice to me for modifying homescreen pages,
Regards,
Since you're bone stock you really only have the option of using another launcher i.e. nova, apex (they use the resources from and function just like the stock launcher with added options) or adw, go, lp+ and many others. If you end up on a deodexed rom then you have the option of editing the "stock" launcher yourself By reading this.
good day.
Thank you very much for your replies and advices, I installed Nova launcher and i can organize them now.
Thanks again.
How is Nova? I'm currently on adw ex and was eyeing the "tsf shell" does Nova live up to the test?
