Battery stat issues when swapping out batteries? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, quick question. I brought a few extra batteries for me EVO via eBay. Now I am not expecting them to be the same quality as the OEM batteries, but for 20 bucks and for emergency use only... (I got a car charger, 2 batteries, battery charger, HDMI cable, 2 cheap cases, screen protector, and a weird stylus for only $20) so my question lies in swapping out the batteries. With all the talk about battery stats, will swapping out the battery screw with my stats? Any thoughts, recommendations?

As long as you charge the replacement to full via the wall charger before using it you shouldn't have any trouble.I have 2 replacements I got from China that last almost as long as the original.

Which battery should I get?

I can either get a replacement battery, 2 of them + a charger for $25. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-1900mA...ccessories&hash=item4ab3e5b7e8#ht_2690wt_1252
Or an external very portable battery 2600mAh for $25
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-Colorf...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item7916fc4474
Or external battery (not as portable) 3600mAh for $25.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-Extern...ccessories&hash=item4cfeea48ef#ht_6381wt_1361
All the same price. I'm thinking of getting the colorful anker battery. I could charge the phone while both are in my pocket. Since it's more than one charge, I don't have to worry since I can easily charge the battery again.
Or I can get a single Anker battery for $18.

What do you guys think?
I recommend the 2 Anker batteries with charger because that's what I have and the batteries last the same or longer than stock. Also I always have a extra battery In my pocket and a extra at home.

I can't use the charger as an external battery, can I? Like plug my phone into the charger via USB with the battery in the charger, and charge without AC connection?
@OP, any specific reason to not include the Samsung 2000mah battery+cover in that list? Because that is certainly what I would recommend.

I agree 100%. It's the battery they should have included as standard, but i'd reckon the marketing department wanted the lesser capacity battery so they could say how thin the phone is.
Any way, i got a couple of generic batteries off ebay, and my god they were awful to use. Maybe it was my experience, but the phone would get so warm using them and they would drain in less time than the genuine battery even though they were the same capacity.
Maybe it's just my experience, but i'd go genuine from now on based on what happened to me.
Hearing a lot of positive feedback for the anker battery... Might try it myself...
get the anker or that first link,i brought me another samsung battery and a wall charger and its great, use a battery a day and charge the flat one when you swap them over, its worth it,glad i did it.

i am new here, just find anker astro3 10000mah external battery it looks amazing and only $49.99
could anyone give some reviews?
much thanks
I use the Samsung 2000 mah battery and I also have a 1900 mah Anker as a spare in my pocket.
I just carry a small piece of cardboard with the Anker battery so it can sit tightly in the extended 2000 mah case
Both batteries are fine but I prefer the Samsung one.
I have two anker batteries that I rotate with stock battery. I really like having an external charger and being able to charge batteries indepenantly. Very impressed with the anker brand and the affordable price. Just my 2c

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-10000mAh-External-Battery-Charger/dp/B005NGKR54/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334312280&sr=1-3
WOW,10000mAh huge capacity
Anker
Recommend anker, 1 year of user.
The Amazon reviews of the Astro3 external USB backup battery are impressive. Reports of people charging a phone and an iPad2 (a greedy device if ever there was one), charging two devices while watching video on one, etc. Very tempting for the price, it sounds like just the thing for a cross-country plane flight.
Really interested in personal reports here....
i am rocking this anker. charges almost all my devices, not just my phone. if anyone buys it of amazon please pm me so i can send anker referrals
Are the chinese oem batteries truly oem?

This.
If that is not an option, I would go for the two Anker plus charger
I'm tempted to finally pickup the Anker 10000. Can anyone tell me if it can be CHARGED via USB? or can it only be charged from a wall?

External battery chargers

Hey guys,
Has anyone found a charger for an external battery that works well? I'm just talking about the 2100-2300 variety. Thanks guys!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I'm a bit confused. Would you mean external chargers, extra batteries or http://www.amazon.com/5600mAh-Exter...-66&keywords=samsung+galaxy+s3+mobile+charger such as this? Perhaps even an extended battery...
I have two.
First us the Zagg Sparq. Doubles as both a portable battery charger and a wall charger. Looks just like the old model Apple airport express wifi routers but in black. I get about 1.5 full charges from its battery but I never really go back to full, usually just a boost to about half from empty is how I use it. Has usb ports so you need to keep a cable with it but it charges anything with a usb charge interface. Got a set of 3" cables for mini, micro, and apple dock connector to keep the mess in my bag down.
Second one is a much smaller no name device with a micro usb plug sticking out one side. Got it relatively cheap. Only has enough to charge the phone back up to about 75-85%. But it is good for an end of the day boost.
A second battery would be better in most cases but these chargers are more generic so can use them on other toys too. Bought them to get an extra day or two of power when tenting.

This one charges phone or external battery or both and uses a regular micro usb for mains input so can be used in vehicle as well.

Hey guys,
My bad for not clarifying. I'm talking about the wall charger for extra external batteries

I just got this one its got this one for $20 off amazon its 2600mah fits nicely in your pocket so you can charge your phone while its in your pocket. A couple of problems with it is that it only came with a USB to micro USB cable but not AC adapter. It charges my phone pretty quickly but it only charged my phone about 70% before shutting off of course I was using my phone the whole time but it still should have had more of a charge in it. Also the unit its self takes forever to charge around 6 hours! But overall not a bad buy for $20.

Spare Battery Charger ?

Does anyone know of a decent (1Amp) charger for a spare stock/extended battery that is actually working well? I've used the ebay cheapos and one from Hyperion[http://amzn.com/B00851MEB4] but they are either take forever to charge(0.5A or less output current) or falsely claim the battery is full whereas the phone says otherwise?
I presume the Samsung charging system will be a good fit, but i'm not sure if it will take extended battery.
bump? anyone know of any 1A chargers for a spare battery?
I bought the OEM battery kit. It comes with a spare battery and a charger along with a built in dock. The dock doesn't charge your phone only the battery . It's about $35 . Not bad for an OEM battery and charger .

I use NewTrent 6600 mAh that has 2 USB outputs one at 1A and one at 2.1A. It also gets charged with a MicroUSB cable, so one cable for charging and providing power, very nice.

So you charge using the 1 amp or 2.1amp?
I'm actually using for wall charger type of device where you just insert the spare battery. Something like this: http://amzn.com/B008I449AC

I have used a charger that looked almost identical to that one for my Evo 4G extended batteries before I upgraded to the Galaxy S III. It worked well so I would expect this one to work for the GSIII batteries.
I ended up ordering this one to use with my GSIII batteries. It arrives today.
Hey let us know if this one charges to 100%

It looks like the answer is: No!
I charged my battery (Stock Samsung battery) overnight. This morning the charger was indicating that the charging was complete. When I swapped out the batteries the phone is reporting 93% (4110mV). I am going to try again tonight with my other battery (also stock).
Samsung makes an official spare battery charger/dock that comes with a spare battery. You can find it on amazon for around $35.
I got Momax U. Pack Charger Pack ( Charge + X-LEVEL PDA Battery ) from NCIX.COM....is better then the samsung one.

Sometimes my charger is not charging! HELP!

Sometimes my charger isn't charing.
I charged my phone at 9% battery and after half an hour I checked my battery status its still on 9%.
After a reboot sometimes it charges sometimes dont.
Kindly help if somebody knows this issue.
Charger? I have my OG for almost 2 months now and my oem charger is still sealed in the box lol, coz i never use it.
What you should do is buy this zerolemon battery combo where you get 2 spare batteries and a wall charger. I just keep swapping the batteries thats what I do.

have you tried another micro-USB charger? maybe from nokia or samsung?
you should try that first.
if the problem persist, then (I guess) it is time to claim your warranty.
Use a different charging cable. I bought a few cheap ones a while ago that caused the same issue, and on one occasion my battery actually continued to drain while the phone was plugged in. I'd recommend monoprice.com or just any radioshak or other tech store for grabbing a new micro USB cable.

It's your connector on your phone. Clean it out. It's has crap in it.

Spare battery finally.

Finally after waiting a few weeks, I finally found an alright priced battery. Found it on eBay with free shipping, $32, OEM new spare lg battery. I still can't wait for the zerolemon. I think it's just horrible that the prices for this batteries are this high compared to anker and such.
Can you share a link please?

Sure thing! I won't receive the spare battery till tomorrow but I did receive the dock with spare charger built in yesterday.
The dock is is visually pleasing except for the company sticker that I peeled off pretty easily. It was able to charge my phone with Supcase without problems in 2hours from 20% Build quality seems solid. I'm pretty happy with it. Once I get my spare batteries tomorrow I'll test to see how well it will charge my phone and spare together.

Its worth it I think. Apparently the ones that have gripes with it are from M8 owners? But honestly for $16.99 it's pretty good. Fits the LG G3 with Supcase very nicely. Its hard enough to find a spare charging unit for our phones let alone the spare batteries.
Update:
I have had this dock with spare battery charger for a few days now. Been charging my spare batteries along with my phone and it's safe to say that it does well charging my phone and spare batteries completely to 100% so happy with my purchase

I have been looking for an inexpensive charger. Does this one hold the G3 battery tightly? I've had similar wall chargers and if the battery does not fit snugly, it slides away from the charging poles and does not charge.
Edit: I watched an amazon customer video review, it appears to hold a battery pretty securely.
I may pick this up. Thanks for the link.
