Just tested it against the stock browser over my wifi and i gotta say it a lot faster. I was never a fan of Dolphin HD but this one doesn't have so much going on at the same time.

Thanks for the heads up, its faassst!

Wow... now that is nice. I have always prefered dolphin browser hd because of the ui and this one doesn't feel that much off. The only crash I had was during setup when I selected set as default, but I just launched it again. Going through setup the second time showed set as default was already checked so I unchecked it and guess what... crash. Third time I just ignored it and all was fine. I went to setting and set as default that way and it works. This is a whole lot faster.... I'm loving it so far. Great find and thanks for the link.

Yes it does.
I might try this. Thanks.
like this app alot. works well, very smooth, very fast
wow fast! i like it.....for now lol
I use the mini version since the beginning and I agree, its REALLY fast, very inuitive and stable. My number 1.
How is this compared to the speed of SkyFire?
I've used mini since the days of the htc touch hd and it is my stock browser unless i need flash support.

This browser is stupid fast, flash video support too. Thanks for the heads ups.

So cna someone tell me what the difference between mini from HD?
I recently switched form stock to hd as my default bcs I really like the naigation and options (hidden screens), but it just seems to be slower than stock, and somewhat unstable.
I also run Opera Mini on my device, it's good but screen management is not very good...seemed to be better back on the BB. Tried Firefox for the bookmarks thing, but found it too buggy and no flash. At this point it seem stock browser was not that bad. I'll check out the mini, but wanted to understand differences better first.

Thats right! Keeping it PG friendly.
As much as it's nice looking, the new Opera still murders this, and it seems like it's just trying to be a green Opera Mobile or Mini, or whichever one has pinch zoom.
Yes this has gestures. Who ACTUALLY uses them on a regular basis?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
The only issue I had with it is that I can't watch anthing on atdhe.net using dolphin mini but I can on the stock browser. No idea why.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
i hate to mention this, but the implementation of text reflow is not to my liking. Text doesn't reflow as soon as after pinch zooming is performed. It is activated by double tapping the screen AFTER zooming in, which makes putting more effort to do the same thing as the stock browser. Weirdly enough the text reflows right after pinch zooming OUT.
Other than that, it is smooth as butter and has better tabs management than the stock browser.
As soon as they fix the text reflow issue, this is gonna be my default.

Not sure if this would apply to you or not but if you're running Cyanogen mod there is an option to automatically reflow content immediately after pinch to zoom in.
CyanogenMod settings > User interface > Reflow after pinch in *check*

what web browser is everyone using the stock one on the g2 has a problem that i just noticed if you clear the history you lose all your book marks or is there a way to stop that?
I just re-discover Dolphin HD browser. I bought it about a year ago then Opera came out and I switched to it. I tried Fennec, but it's very slow right now to me. I'm really liking Dolphin HD!
Xscope is a great alternative. Much faster than the default browser, and instant page back/forward (like opera)

I really like the Dolphin HD browser. I like the tabbed browsing and the pulldown tabs when fullscreen. I also like the simple slide right for bookmarks and slide left for desktop/mobile view and fullscreen. I am just getting into the gestures.

I've been using the Dolphin HD browser. I like having tabbed browsing for my browsing experience.
I have tried basically every browser out there and always come back to stock.
Dolphin is too busy for me. I hate that I can't scroll all the way to the right or left without the stupid bars popping up. The add ons are kind of cool but nothing I can't live without.
Opera was great before my city got 3G but now its just kind of blah. I like pictures and it scales the pictures all weird.
Skyfire was great before we got flash. Its way too buggy and crashed too much for a daily driver.
Fenac (Mozilla) is a great concept but just sucks. Its slow, scales images like Opera but without the speed boost. I really hope they fix it because syncing my tabs with my home pc would be awesome.
And then there is stock. Its not flashy, doesn't try to do anything special, it just works.

I had exactly the same thought process. The stock browser really is the best option.
I normally use the stock browser but I use Dolphin HD on occassions where I want to render pages in desktop mode. As far as I know of the stock android browser does not offer this feature.

Possibly buy why would you want to? Flash will slow your browsing experience down and also drain your battery faster. All of us Android guys know about conserving battery wherever possible.
Or are you trying to watch a site with a ton of...well...videos on your phone? Some of them of an adult nature? If so, they just allow it under the website settings and share which page it is. Everyone I go to hijacks me to brazzermobile and sucks.
And yeah...after my rant in favor of stock browser, I downloaded Dolphin to give it another try. Its not that bad once you disable the stupid righ/left option windows.
I don't understand why Google can't make Chrome integrate with their stock browser better. Why Google...why????
Speaking of those site lol. Is their any way to view the actual desktop version of a website without viewing the mobile version. I went into the settings on the Dolphin Hd browser and set it up in desktop mode, but when I go to the site it takes me to the mobile version not the desktop version. I havent tried about:debug and adjust the settings on the stock browser yet, does anyone know if this works?

The website knows that you are on an Android phone. With non-stock ROM's, you could have it spoof as something different. Stock we aren't that lucky.
Stock FTW. It is basically chrome-lite. Not flashy, doesn't do all kinds of crazy, but its fast and simply works. No need for another browser now that we have flash.

In case you haven't tried it...dolphin mini + cm6 (maybe other roms Idk)= the smoothest scrolling web pages I've seen yet on evo. I get that cm6 may be smoother than stock, but why does this browser beat the pants off of the stock browser? Is it loading a lesser size page? Am I giving something up for all this butteryness?
It beats stock and skyfire on my evo by a bunch.
I use it too and must agree with you. Just to add that supports full screen browsing.

I'm using dolphin hd myself (not sure if that's the one you're talking about) and it's the best I've used on the evo. Smooth and fast with really useful features like tabs and such.
It is good other than hitting the battery hard..just saying.
from my EVO using XDA app.
I tried dolphin hd a while back. I don't remember it being this smooth. Zooming, scrolling, the whole thing. You loose some options with the mini version. But when it comes to smooth-osity, its the best I've seen.
I take it back. Dolphin Browser HD kills the battery for some reason but mini is okay. I like it. Especially gestures and orientation lock.

Gotta agree with you. It is pretty quick.
Just trying to get some feedback on the the launch of the chrome beta and how it compares to the stock ICS browser. Even after the 4.0.4 gapps update Im feeling they're pretty similar in speed. Overall Im not not yet sure which one I prefer. Hopefully your insight will help me out.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
The UI/UX is far superior, but it lacks critical features to make it a replacement - at least for me.
We'll see in a few months when a better developed version comes out.
I heard that Chrome is a good browser. I think i will download it once flash gets support on it. Still may give it a go than delete it afterwards. I have the newest GAPPS though so i do notice a difference in speed as far as the stock browser.
no full screen and hide status bar was a dealbreaker. hopefully it will be added in later.
The UI is good, love how the tabs work, and the speed is okay.
I notice that some pages will automatically zoom in, then zoom out, and then zoom in again while the page is loading, without me ever touching the screen. Very distracting.
Also sometimes the zoom goes too far in.
And I can't render pages in desktop mode.
I probably need to wait for another beta release or two before it's ready for me.
I've noticed it to be a bit more of a battery hog compared to stock browser. Once they add support for extensions and some more features I will switch.

Chrome will not be getting flash.
http://www.computerworld.com/s/arti...chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8&q=chrome+android+flash
Hoping for improvements in the laggy typing (esp in URL bar) and "request desktop site" to show up then it'll be 100% primary.
I'm sticking with the stock browser, more than enough for me. I tried out chrome, wasn't a big fan but I don't hate it though. I didn't like was the look of it, it was disappointing.

I noticed that too :/ but hopefully that'll be improved
I like it overall, but I think i like the stock browser a little more
comparing a beta with a out of beta software is like comparing a pair of chop stick with toothpick.
as of right now, i set chrome as default because it is faster than the stock browser. chrome offer keyboard prediction, which hands down a win for me.

I still like dolphin hd best. Stock + as a close second. Chrome is nice for a first offering.
I personally can't stand Dolphin HD. I used to use it a lot back in the day, but now it just seems too bloated and laggy. I really like Chrome beta, though I'll stick with stock ICS Browser (especially with the 4.0.4 update) for now.
I did notice that Chrome beta cannot handle proxies. I can use the Wifi at work just fine with ICS Browser (I have the proxy info entered in the System Wifi settings) but Chrome beta cannot seem to use those same settings, so it just fails and gives a generic error message that is actually meant for the desktop version of the browser.
I'm really digging chrome so far. Tab handling is awesome and so much better than stock. Directly syncing open tabs from chrome on the computer is awesome. Syncing all bookmarks from chrome is awesome.
The only thing missing is flash but who cares. It is used little enough these days and I don't usually need to see those pages on my phone anyway.

I haven't run into any bugs yet, and it syncs. I even switched back to Chrome from Firefox on the desktop because I want tab sync (and Firefox Mobile just doesn't seem usable to me).

I'm definitely loving chrome . Already am using it as my default browser. Its fast and pinch to zoom is butter. The tabs are fun little add on too, I like the whole 3d effect. The only things I miss from stock browser are the on screen controls and ability to request desktop site easier. Even though it doesn't really bother me to scroll down the page to get the desktop site, and then from what I've noticed , once you click on desktop site for one website , every website after that automatically loads in desktop form , which I think is great. I think for the initial beta release Google has done a great job. Definitely like how it dominates all the HTML 5 tests too

It homecalls your browsing history. it takes 10...20 sec. You should better try boat mini
Glad to know I'm not the only one. I guess I'll try to keep the stored information deleted more frequently. If it doesn't help, I'll give another browser a try but man, I love the gesture feature a ton. Nothing like it...
Try Opera. It's a fantastic browser that's really fast and smooth.
+1 for Boat Mini. It's lightweight and fast. Switch to the grey theme.
A few thoughts...
* Dolphin HD is one of the few browser that will sync up with Google Bookmarks...Which is great, UNLESS you're like me and have HUNDREDS of links which will bog down the browser on startup tremendously.
* As has been warned about Dolphin, it apparently reports usage back to its' servers so that lag is likely due to that comm going on.
* Sometime bad things happen to even good apps...Check your running apps and kill/restart Dolphin and see if that helps.
* I have 4 browsers loaded, since there's still yet no perfect ONE browser.
** Boat Mini (when I just want to view something quickly and cleanly)
** Dolphin HD (Usually my general go-to browser)
** Opera Mobile (If there's any particularly content that Dolphin can't render properly)
** Firefox (Because I'm holding out hope that Mozilla will EVENTUALLY get it right with the mobile version so I can finally be in-sync between my phone and desktop!)
Found out where the delay in the stock browser was coming from. I disabled browser syncing in dolphin and it fixed the issue. Anyone else notice how choppy the stock browser is when scrolling? Any ideas what may cause it, or how to fix it?
Have you enabled "Force 2D Hardware Acceleration" (can't remember the name exactly) in the developer menu?

There's your problem right there. 2D applications aren't hardware accelerated in Gingerbread, and it's actually well-known that the stock Gingerbread browser is very choppy.
Try Opera Mobile...its probably the best you can do on Gingerbread.
Which browser you use and the reasons why. (Maybe compare features with other browsers) i used boat browser but after having problems viewing full site web i am indecided now between opera chrome or firefox...
I use stock browser... and chome... was using dolphin... but its just "TOO" much for me ... my only issue with chrome is lack of flash... but its hella fast... but stock browser seemms to be a happy medium in most cases for my usage
U should try dolphin browser beta. Fastest browser out it uses the new HTML5 . No flash but I have stock browser for that
Tried Chrome but caused massive battery drain. Uninstalled and great battery life returned. Currently use Dolphin browser and I like all the extras I never use.
I like Dolphin. Tried Firefox a few releases ago but found it very frustrating. Tried the stock browser after flashing my phone with a new ROM but ended up getting Dolphin anyways. Dolphin does have a ton of extras that I'll likely never use but I still find it fast enough and super intuitive to use.

I am also noticing chrome eats battery like crazy! Is fast though. Sucks that doesnt support flashplayer. And whoever mentions about what dolphin includes and blabla i think is just lies. Dolphin devs say they includ advanced stuff but truth is thwir browser is slower than chrome boat firefox and maybe opera.
Doesnt dolphin cause alot of battery drain as well? I switched to chrome because i always see tunny browser or something from using dolhin browser using up my battery a lot! Been using chrome for the past couple of months but I do miss the dolphin gestures!

I use Chrome on the PC, so Chrome is the obvious choice, mostly because of the automated bookmark sync (I have loads of them). I like using the AOSP browser + CMarks, but it doesn't display the xda page properly after I log in (all text is gray and hard to read). Dolphin does the same thing. Only after I log in.
Not trying Firefox because the desktop version is a joke, why would the mobile version be different? And Opera hasn't been relevant for years.

I concur. I found Firefox 14 to be incredibly slow. I don't like chrome (personal choice). Dolphin beta crashed too much for me.
I am using Dolphin 9.0.0. It seems to be the most stable and fastest to me. I don't like the menus sliding in from the sides. They tend to come up when I am trying to scroll sideways and I haven't figured out how to turn them off
Please remember that free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it

Chrome
I switched over completely to Chrome, I was using dolphin but I like the ability to switch between devices a lot easier.
Boat. Enough said.
They call me "Jelly" cuz jam don't shake like this!
Xscope Pro. It was the only browser I could find that would let me make an appt. for the DMV from work, I wanna say it was a java based website, but whatever it was, Xscope has been able to take anything I throw at it, and it's got a dark colored theme which is a plus for me because I hate looking at bright white light all the time. Also as a throwback, Steel was an amazing browser for it's time.
Try pushing menu => more => settings => lab => advanced swipe settings and choose disable
You may need to scroll down in settings to see the lab option.
