Samsung Video Player apk/zip? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hey guys,
as you may know, there is no Video Player in the Ultimate ROM (Samsungs stock one). I tried copying the VideoPlayer.apk to system/app, it opens but then FC's when i try to play anything. Does it depend on other apks? Cause i'm stuck here
Would be great if someone could point me in the right direction, or if you have flashable zip of it would be better for everyone Cheers.

I think the Videoplayer is based of the Rock Player app in the market maybe give it a try and see if its the same?

I am looking for this too! Or at least a nice video player with the option to stretch the picture to fullscreen or keep the original aspect ratio.

Hi, maybe you can try "Soul Movie" (if you don't know this soft already), it's a really good video player and it's free.

Did you try to install VideoPlayer.apk with "App Installer" ? (search on the market, it's free)
Regards.

Vplayer
Try Vplayer it plays all formats and is very good and most of all free

Please try this:
http://www.mirzasays.com/2011/03/download-all-stock-apk-files-for-samsung-galaxy-s/

neither vplayer nor soul movie play back h264 mkv's very good. nor do most of the other so called "best" media players on the market. the samsung one is still the best one i've found. unfortunately i use a miui rom so i cant use the sammy one.
but i found 2 players that are quite good and can playback the files i want them to.
diceplayer (around 4 bucks)
and bsplayer (free but adsupported)

Try moboplayer.

i had no issuse with rock player, it playd any video format i tried with...i recomand it

The very best media player

hi,
i'm looking for an awesome media (video) player for my phone.
i'm looking for a good video player that can play a lot of different file formats.
avi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, etc.etc.
on my laptop i use VLC, and i really love it.
but i can't find a mobile version of VLC.
anybody has a clue for an awesome videoplayer for my phone?
The latest version of TCPMP plays a whole slew of formats. If you want a media player with alot of functionality, Kinoma Player (shareware) has many different functions. Not sure all the formats it plays.
There's Core Player, a branch of TCPMP that is a pretty smooth video player as well. Finally, DivX has an app for WinMo as well, so you could give that a try.
tcpmp and core player are the best on my opinion
i've looked up tcpmp on the web, and found a page about it on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-tcpmp-v0-72rc1.html but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
when i instal the cab, the program says on startup "unexpected program error, send crash.txt to the developers......".
so it doesn't run on my pocket pc.
i tought i found the tcpmp website with http://coreplayer.com/ but it costs me 24 bucks.
the free version is very difficult to find.
any ideas?
i found yet another release on this forum.
that one seems to be working a bit....
but the movie quality sucks big time.
the sound is on and off all the time.
the picture is shocking...
it's looks like the phone has to work really hard to let me see half a second each time.
it's like:
the audio........... is not .......... like it's ............. supposed........... to be..............
(and the video is the same).
am i doing sometyhing wrong?
I had to look really hard also for a 6.1 TCPMP. Then on this site there seem to be quite a few different ones. I got mine at http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059593835-post107.html it says it is version 4.0.3. But it is open source so people do whatever they want with it. Mine is pretty ugly to look at, but it has always worked (except for the initial crashing - see below). Would like a nicer looking version.
Which one did you download?
This fixed my crashing "If you are having issues with no video or the crashing issue on the HTC HD2 this may help you, You will need to go into the Video settings and change the Direct Draw --> GDI and it should resolve the issue you were having."
i don't remember which one i downloaded... wnloaded about 5 of them from different sites.
i installed all of them (one at a time) to see which one worked best.
the one i've got is worked the best way... but like i said it's shocky... to say the least.
i'll try the one you just send me.
i don't care for looks, i just care for video quality.
i can't believe that a simple viedeoplayer can be so difficult to find on windows mobile.
isn't the whole idea of mobile windows, the idea that you have a mobile version of windows?
and isn't windows also (largely) used for different kinds of media? e.g. video, music etc...
windows media player is the best...

TBH I find it alot easier just converting movies and using the HTC player. The Videora TP2 converter does its job perfectly and I like having the movies in the HTC album. Easy access, smooth playback.

it has to be able to play avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, mp4 and a lot more if possible.
is this player able to do that?
looks are not important, performance is!
till thus far, tcpmp isn't good enough (it.... plays..... movies...... like..... this...... ).

How do you play a video file so the HTC play can pop up? Do you click the video file from explorer, RESCO or Total Commander type software? I do not understand.

You can access them from the HTC album tab just like your photos. That, or tap them from explorer.
EDIT: Granted they are in the MPEG-4 format you get from, for example, the Videora converter I linked.

i'm not to sure how good the quality of the file is.
all i know is, it's a 700 mb avi file that plays beautifully on my old laptop with VLC running on win xp.
now i'm trying to play that same file on the video player you linked, but the quality is awefull.
the audio stops and starts playing every few seconds, and the video just 1 frame a second (and every now and then, it skips a few frames to catch up with the audio).
i personally just think that nobody bothered to make a descent video player for win mobile. OR (and please forgive me for saying this), the phone simply sucks totally (mostly because it has win mobile on it....).

New to Android - Why can't I play MPG videos?

So I love the EVO, and so far I love Android, except I can't seem to figure out how to play videos on it. Sure I can view Youtube, youporn etc , but I can't seem to find a player that will play simple MPEGs. I have downloaded and tried at least 5 different video/media players from the Market, and none of them will play MPEGs correctly. Some of them will give me sound, but none will give me video. I have tried a couple of different video files that I know work on my desktop.
Am I doing something wrong? I am coming from Windows Mobile with Windows Media Player that played just about anything I threw at it. I can't imagine such a wonderful piece of hardware coupled with what seems to be an awesome OS can't do MPG/AVI.
Note: I am currently rooted+nand+bugless beast 0.3 Although I was having this trouble before I had the custom rom or NAND unlocked.

Curious, have you tried Meridian? I don't really play a lot of videos on my phone, but Meridian has come through on everything so far for me. YMMV
Rock player is the best video player I have ever used on Android. I can play all my divx format movies without conversion and always get 25-30 fps.
The player is in private beta now and should be released soon.

KCarpenter - yes, I downloaded Meridian last night. Just tried it again, and still no luck. Thanks for the reply.

Considering that the Evo has hardware-accelerated H.264 decoding, why bother playing other formats that will destroy your CPU and battery?

It's just that I received an e-mail MPG of my nephew riding his bike without training wheels and would like to see it that's all. Not sure what H.264 decoding is or if it has my nephew riding his bike without training wheels or not. I should go search for that thanks.
I just figure I should be able to view most any file attachment that comes into me these days.
H.264 is the video encoder for MP4's. Basically, if you used a program to convert your videos to MP4 videos, you would be able to play them without a problem. The phone has hardware acceleration for H.264, so it doesn't use as much processor/battery to play vs. other formats that have to be software decoded. Handbrake works good for me, though I can't remember what file types you can put into it.

The reason why you cannot play those mpg files is simple. Android doesn't support them out of the box. You need to turn to third-party video players which can do it.
Rock Demo Player is one (only one?) such video player.
You can try to use the third-party video player, I read an article is about the top 5 video player apps in Android Market. Maybe it is helpful to you.

The interface is very professional with great gestural control, 4 widget sizes, automatic album art downloader, custom playlists, replacement lockscreen when music is playing, etc.
But I like it best for the interface. =)

Yeah I had a word with the dev and he said that he may come up with a paypal version but he does not want to right now 'coz of licensing issues.
He said and I quote.
Regarding Paypal, I didn't yet create an account. But then you need to manage the release of updates (need a license key etc). Which might require quite some DEV.
But will think about it in the long term.
Thks again for the support.

Even .ogg and .flac files all produce a statick click when the next track begins. Is this a 'feature' of the Galaxy in general?

I've just tried mvideoplayer without success, but I still can't seem to find a (free) video player that will play (or even acknowledge) my .mpg videos!

Did you actually read my question EarlZ ?
The best music player has to be powerAMP. And the best video player is in my opinion the stock player, it's slick and clean and plays many kind of videofiles flawlessly like MKV.
Personally I think the stock music player is great. Equaliser, effects, and the disc view is pretty cool. As well as controls on the lockscreen (only when using glass lock) and app drawer.
Have yet to see a 3rd party one that makes me want to switch.
For video mVideoPlayer is my favourite. It lacks the 5.1 sound option from the stock player though.
I have yet to find a music player that can sort by album artist (not artist) and provides an output selection of bluetooth or phone.
Really frustrating that such basic features don't exist.

[Q] Playing 720p .mp4 vids on the GNex

Hey guys!
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a couple days now, and I was thinking of loading it up with some movies I have at home. The problem is, I've ripped the movies in 720p .mp4 format on my Mac - but it won't play with the stock ICS player.. Rock Player works sort of, it shows video but it doesn't hide the on-screen buttons.
Rip details is: 720p h.264, AAC audio
Any ideas?

Update - I just tried Doubleplayer, and while it plays everything it stuggles at times. More jerky (lower frame rate?) than QQPlayer.
I'd be happy with QQPlayer but the seek doesn't play nice. So if I miss something I have to start the video from scratch. And like I say, Dice, Mobo, Rockplayer and Realplayer (yes I was desperate) all appear to have various problems of their own.
I do recall VLC being released a year or so ago. But I guess it was pulled too?

Music and video

what's the best music and video (PAID & FREE) application for our beloved HTC ONE X?
also what type of video can we put on our X? any frame size limit? and the format as well...
I personally am satisfied with MixZing music player(bought their premium version too). But most popular one is PowerAmp and they said It's the best but they got paid version only though they offer free trial for 1 week or so I think.
For videos, I'm using BS player lite, they got hw acceleration feature also.

Beats is available to every 3rd party app.
And no you don't need to convert movies, except if it results in you getting a file with smaller size and you want that to save mbs.
As for music player, poweramp is definitely the best Imo. Although it didn't look that good but it's features kept me to it. Now with the ics skin, which someone posted on xda, it's definitely the coolest music player.
You might also give Apollo player a try. It will continue to improve. Still not in market I think, but should be there shortly. Google it if you can't wait.
For videos, try mx player. That's all on can say. Try and you'll have the answer to your question.
