[Q] slide Vids. No audio on PC - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why is it that everytime i record videos on my phone, and try to play them on my pc it only shows the video but with no audio? Ive formatted the video in many formats n still nothing? Is it cause u cannot format or hear ure videos on ure PC only on phone? Or u just cannot play 3gp files on pc, since thats the format of the my touch slide vids. So plz if some one know how 2 fix this n get the audio of it plz let me now, would appreciate it.

All you need to do is to install a proper codec pack on your PC. K-lite will work great

I just installed k-lite 64 bit codec n still no audio :/. Ive had this problem as well when i had my g1. N now this as well. :/

Then it's still more likely something's wrong with the pc. Try recovering or reinstalling windows. If it's not codecs and os's trash, then maybe a microphone but what about calls? |And how could it be with two different devices? The same roms like cyanogen or smth? Idk but it definately plays with sound on my win7 64 bit laptop, and just checked , on my win 7 32 bit home desktop as well with K-Lite codecs on all of them (Using both KMPlayer and WMP)
And with Cyanogen Mod 6.1 RC3 everything records and works ok for me, even wifi, although some do compain about it working.

But i want 2 be able 2 post them in youtube, n well without audio i cant :/. And ive tried on my sis new laptop she got yesterday n didnt even work as well, and as in mine with my g1 didnt work n now this slide phne wont wrk as well. my phone is not rooted or anything, its all stock 2.1 update 1

Ok it is a hardware or software problem of a phone or it is a hardware or software problem of a pc
Check everything. What else?

I was having the same issue. The way I sloved this was to install VLC and open the videos with that. It works great.

Ok! Go to http://mobile.ardcorp.tv using your mobile web browser. When you get to Staurn Liberty"s web site scroll down to first radiation circle sign, (it should say Saturn Liberty Device Definition TV) in the first rectangle box, click on it there and it should open your TCPMP/Player and play a up to date movie. You can do the same in the next rectangle box below that say (COSMOVISION Digital TV) it to will open also a up to date movie when you click on the rectangle box. If you are still having problem get back with me. Oh! Another thing on your TCPMP/Player make sure you have installed the two DLL codecs and that you have gone in the File Association area and check mark all the blocks. Please do not try to make a connection while your device is still connected to your PC via active sync........!

And what was so difficult about explaining this? Why couldn't you do this in the other thread?

[Q] Sorry this video cannot be played

I'm not sure how much people have tried this out yet, but has anyone managed to successfully play videos via dlna (connected media tab in galleries)
eg. i can play an avi file perfectly locally on the device.
but everytime i try to stream it via windows media server/orb media server, i get the message 'Sorry this video cannot be played'
anyone else?
maybe something htc needs to fix?
Tried resetting your router? Maybe thats it.
I tried this and had mixed results: Tversity on win 7 would serve up the videos but none would play. Normal shared folder would let me play .mp4 but not .avi
Ooer!

I am trying to figure out how to enable a 2nd player in the unit, on first run it pops up and asks me which player to use, but only the supplied mplayer is available, if i could get it to see say rockplayer, then these issues would go away

I agree, I'm feeling this is another bug, mainly because the local video playback using htc video player (or whatever its called) is intermittently useless. sometimes it works, sometimes it plays the first five seconds and stops, sometimes not at all. All on the same video at different times.
vplayer works fine though..
also it seems unlikely that resetting the router will help, as airvideo via my iphone works fine, but i will try later on when at home again.
Haven't tried this yet, but have you checked that you have all the right codecs installed on your pc? I know windows media player has a hard time with certain codec's and file types where as vlc player doesn't, yet i don't know how this would sit when streaming video.

I think this is an issue with playback of videos on the phone, not on the computer...
If the file plays back fine on the computer, then it's not gonna be a codec problem (from the computer's side anyway).
Having this problem too. Is someone going to contact HTC?

I have very similar results. Using Windows 7's Media Player Streamer I can browse all my videos , music and photos , but none of these can be played (the server works ok,'coz I still can play videos and other media from other PC). I've some better results with XBMC's media stream (UPNP server) the photos works fine, but still can't play other media.
I can't manage to open the DHD's video, audio or images using DLNA connection.
At the beginning I think that the problem is with codecs, but since this media is opened with no problem once it copied on the phone I'm sure there is a problem with the player playing content over UPNP connection.
I had that kind of issues with an old ubuntu install, but all was fixed when installed VLC Player, so I hope someone can make a good port of VLC to android.
I've managed to playback mp3s and looked at pictures stored on my computer via my phone, so that part is OK, but videos are a no-go, which is a shame.
Very simple answer to this people.
The Desire HD and Z does not support "Play To" Receiver
Because of this AVI wont work.
Just check DLNA's website.
Compare it to bluetooth,
Both are very sensitive to compatibility and such
Never mind...

Well that's just stopped me buying the HTC Media Link, like htcsense.com they big this up in their adverts and then can't deliver.
Avi seems not to work, but I've managed to stream to my phone .mp4 files.

some avi files have actually started playing. most stop within a few seconds though.. if it can do this, why not the whole video?
Also i did check DLNAs website, and they've actually certified the Desire HD as a M-DMP device. I know they've only tested it with images (according to the certificate) however the description of a M-DMP device is:
These wireless devices find and play content on a digital media server (DMS) or mobile digital media server (M-DMS).
Examples: mobile phones and mobile media tablets designed for viewing multimedia content.
So it must be a HTC bug? (based on the fact that it DOES play the start of some files and that it is M-DMP certified..)
EDIT: well it must be a codec thing.. rockplayer plays all these files fine.. even locally the 'Videos/gallery' app can't play them all. Maybe HTC should use ffmpeg like rockplayer.. then it might just work
I spend many hours trying to figure this out , all but streaming video don't work ..any suggestions ?
Me too, but if only

Me too, but if only there was a way of making vplayer (since that plays everything so far) the default player when a video is clicked on from the connected media view
Same problem here.
1. Connected Home on Samsung Omnia 2(Win6.1/6.5) works
2. Doest work on Samsumg Galaxy Tab (froyo 2.2)
3. Doesnt work on Desire HD (pic, music, video)
So can I assume its something to do with Android?
same problems here with the HTC Media Link. far too many video files play ok on my htc desire from win7 pc using Skifta.
i've been attempting to find successful filetype/bitrate settings through freemake video converter (which allows hard-coding of subtitles) with little success when pushing to the media link.
Q. does anyone know a guaranteed filetype, bitrate, size which works through media link?
Q. are there any XDA devs working on a rom to fix this thing? excellent hardware in need of a little homebrew tweak if ever there was
It works fine on my DHD with Sabsa Prime V16 no issues at all. (Audio /Video/ Photos)

[Q] DLNA

Hi,
One of the features i was looking forward to on the Defy was the built in DLNA functionality.
I am using a PC running XBMC that has my audio collection ripped mainly in FLAC with a little MP3 & OGG. Ideally i would like a way to transcode the FLAC to OGG when tranfering to the phone over DLNA but i will need to work on a solution for that (maybe Coherence? Hadn't heard of it but a little googling has sent me in that direction but will take a bit more homework). In the mean time i am happy to have FLAC on my phone despite the file size as i am expecting a 16GB card but given the weather i think it may take at least a few more days to arrive.
The problem is that when i transfer a FLAC file over DLNA it states that the file is not compatible* and asks me to confirm that i am happy transfer it it, i say yes it downloads the file. That's fine but it asks again with every single file so if you choose to download an album it asks every track so you can't even leave to run whilst you go do something else as it stops transferring at each prompt.
Any idea how to overcome this?
*i have PowerAmp installed which is compatible with FLAC.
i have solved my problem a different way. I just don't use DLNA.
Using Banshee music player i can connect the Defy via USB cable and transfer any audio file to it and Banshee trancodes on-the-fly into .ogg.
Solved.

Yeah... I agree. But I am connecting to a couple of computers and a Buffalo Link Station over wireless. I can USB through my computer, but would love to find a way around confirming every download I want. I'll ask this question on the T-Mo and Motorola forums which are monitored by Motorola dudes. Really, the DLNA function is so damned convenient.

Playing Epic videos on windows pc

What is the best way to play videos from the EB13 video recorder on a windows pc? I have tried several players and codecs and they all say unsupported. Any help is greatly appreciated.
VLC. It will play just about any media file known to man.
Just Google "VLC" and it is the first link. I can't post links here yet (under 8 posts..)
Yeah I tried that one also. Have you tried it with a recorded video on the Epic? Want to see if it is a local problem although I tried it on another windows pc also.
Change the extension to .wmv and they'll play in Windows Media Player.
That didn't work for me on either computer either. Maybe it has something to do with the way I recorded it. Is there anything special that you need to setup?
Hmm. I didn't do anything special at all.
I used this codec pack a long time ago and the epic vids never presented a problem for me.
played as if they were native
http://www.cccp-project.net/
Well that didn't work either. I am starting to think this is an EB13 problem or my phone. Has anyone with EB13 recorded a video and played it back on a PC yet?
LOL nevermind I feel really stupid now . It's always the simple things the end up being the problem. I just recopied the video and it works fine.
Glad you got it.

Audio sync problems when editing video

Hi guys,
I really hope someone can help. I've been using my Epic 4G Touch for recording HD video for about a year now. I edit everything on Vegas Movie Studio Platinum v.11. Everything was fine until a couple of months ago. I was able to put my mp4 video files directly into my timeline and all was well with the world.
Recently, I've noticed that when I put video files into my timeline, the audio track is out of sync and a bit longer than the video track, The only work around I've found is to convert the files to another format. When converted out of mp4 into avi, dv or anything else, the sync is perfect, but this inevitably degrades the audio.
I've found nothing that I've done differently with my computer or smartphone except flashing ROM's. I even re-flashed the ROM I had before the trouble began, (Calkulin's E4GT2 v.1.6). Still same problem.
The mp4 files play just fine on my S2 and computer, but not when I try to edit them in Sony Vegas.
Help?
Thanks!
