Hello All,
I have been using the CM6 Nightlies for GSM Desire for a while now and it's been great except for the music app.
When I play music, the entire system will lag to a crawl. If I decide to use the browser, the system would either lock up and I'd need to pull out the battery or the entire phone would reboot.
I really think this is because of the music app. My question is, has anyone experienced this and fixed it by replacing the music app with something stock or anything from the market? Will changing the music.apk from a different ROM like MIUI work? By the way, I have used Winamp and it seemed to fix it but in the latest nightly the lagging has returned even with Winamp.
Not posting in the Dev forum because it specifically says not to post bugs there so maybe someone here might have answers.

I am regretting that I updated to Froyo from sprint because now when I open up an App that involves music a few things happen. First if I open slacker and close it when I'm done then later in the day use the mp3 player app (stock/or from market) slacker will start while the mp3 playing and vice versa. Another thing that really grinds my gears, is that when using the mp3 player (stock or after market) The song will speed up really fast and go through 4 songs in like 15 seconds. This is really flustering me because I want to sell my Itouch because I have this phone but know I am not sure if i really wanna do that. Any suggestions or should I just do a little searching and root 2.2 so I can flash a different version a 2.2 that you guys have provided?
Thanks in advance,
jiggajoe
P.s. If someone already reported this issue sorry I tried searching before posting but did not find it.

firstly - check the sticky at the top of this section. There is no way to root 2.2 yet.
Having said that, I don't think what your describing is normal, even for stock froyo. If you're still within your 30 days, you might want to think about trying to exchange it.
I was using Hulu with the flash player hack, and it was working beautifully. I have been running the nightlies for a while, and I can't tell what changed. But now when I try to use hulu, the audio is so slow the voices sound possessed!
I found some users in the Incredible forum ran into the same issues when an audio fix for froyo was applied to their rom. But one user posted solving both problems.
Has anyone else run into this? If so have you found a fix?
Yeah I too have this problem

same with thedailyshow.com
Go to Google type hulu hack xda developers then look for June 17th fix. Works great on my evolution no audio problems.

That's actually where I got the hack in the first place. I un-installed it and installed it again today, and I am still getting the same result. I even flashed back to a previous nightly build, the only one I had a nand backup for, and same problem.
I did find this in the incredible forum,
just add this extension to the URL at the top showthread.php?p=7712210, and check out comment #73
His solution seemed a little over my head, but would something like this work for us?

any simple fix for evos?
Did anyone ever get a fix?? I'm having the same thing
Try turning off dsp.
Sent on the go from my HTC EVO
Disabled dsp still a no go..it's weird the ads sound fine once it gets to the actual video it messes up ..thanks for trying. Any other ideas?
I have tried everything. There is an updated "fixed-flash" in the forum where I found it the first time. I uninstalled my old one, re-booted, and then installed the new one. Couldn't get it to work.
I tried using the hulu.apk, which is really just the Hulu bookmark widget from hulu.com. I tried running it through Dolphin HD, I tried it through the stock browser, and I got the demon voices almost every time. There were few occasions where commercials would come in fine, and one time the actual clip played with normal audio, but 90% of the time, I am getting slow audio.
It seems like in the droid incredible forums, they are discussing this more. I found this from a dinc forum.
This is how I understand it. Google changed something to the audio streams for Froyo. Apparently catering to a newer technology called stagefright I believe. But, this made Pandora, Slacker, and other audio only streams sound like an old record player. So, Google released a fix. Adrynalyne posted that fix early. But it seems that this "fix" only fixes the streaming audio for those music apps and sites. But it caused a delay in the flash audio from sites like Hulu. In regards to this, there was a droid incredible forum talking about a ROM called SkyRaider. I wonder if Cyanogen used the same fix.
"SkyRaider incorporates adrynalyne's audio fix, which was released by google, which as previously mentioned fixed the AAC streams. The side effect was that Hulu and other sites were getting "devil voice" audio. So basically you could either have one or the other, not both.
Prior to the audio fix was an alternate fix where you changed a variable in the build.prop. This fixed both aac (ie. Pandora) and did not distort the sound in Hulu. The only thing affected was a slightly lower quadrant score. No decrease in performance, just a lower score. Personally, I'm still using the build.prop because I don't care about quadrant scores and my phone works properly in all aspects. Again this fix is rather old school now so maybe a better alternative has been cooked up but it's what I've been using for quite a while with no issues. "
Does anyone with more experience than me know what that means? Can this be applied to the Evo?
There don't seem to be too many people interested in this post. But for those that are. I did try editing the build.prop file using a root explorer. It didn't work. I will post if I find anything that does.
Yea I've been trying to fix this for 2 weeks now..I even applied skyraders fix to see if would work crashed my phone..I keep posting and also no buddy seems like there interested in it..i would love tofix this problem cause now it's become a obsession..I've tried and have gotten nowhere..ill give 10 bucks to anyone that can fix this for me!

After researching this for a while, I've found the only way to do this is to disable Stagefright. Hopefully this won't be a permanent thing. Follow the instructions in the above link. Pandora and Hulu seem to BOTH be functioning properly on the newest Cyanogen nightly after applying this fix.
The Cause of this issue?
I thought I post what results in Hulu sound running slow for me. Hulu works great when I first flash MIKSHIFT v1.0 for the HTC EVO Shift.
When I start having the slow sound on Hulu is right after I do a wipe of the user data (System Reset). It does not matter if you do the system reset from within "Settings/SD & phone storage/Factory data reset" or if you run this from within clockworkmod recovery.
After the reset and installing the huku fix apx the issue with the sound appears.
So it seems that doing the reset is causing something to be changed that causes this issue.
Please let me know if anyone has found a solution for this.

Didn't want to post this in Android development, since this isn't a development issue. I'm running CM 7.1, which is almost perfect. My issues are truly minor, but wanted to see if anyone else had these issues, and had a workaround for them. Most of my issues are with the Gallery3D app.
-Deleting photos under the Gallery3D app doesn't actually delete them. It just removes them from the Gallery app until the next reboot. You have to actually use a file manager or plug into a PC to delete the images/videos. That seems retarded to me. Is there a hidden setting, or do I need to use a different app?
-I'm limited to 480p playback on the Gallery app, yet most of my 720p videos played back fine on the stock Sense ROM. I don't want to re-encode videos just for this device if I can avoid it.
I have other minor issues, but they escape me, so I'll post later. Any solutions to the above?

Always a good idea if you have an issue or question regarding a certain ROM to post in that ROMs thread. More times than less someone has had the same or similar issue. In this case it would be the CM7 nightlies thread.

I would try the nighty thread, located here, but here's a head start on your answer: most of us don't use the included gallery app, due to being buggy and laggy. Try quickpic from the market. It deletes my pictures just fine. As for 720, you just might have to convert them, since CM7 doesn't support it yet, but again, try quickpic first. Any future questions, feel free to post in the provided link.
I copied this from another board but wanted to know if anyone into app development or testing can fix it. Here's the example:
No special time, alarm, launcher or music apps. I did download a couple of apps from Ambi-Science for relaxation and sleep to try. There is an issue with the Android media framework (according to TeslaSoftware, makers of those apps) that prevents the loops from playing without skips or pops.
Ambi-Science 40+ Binaurals and Ambi-Science Pure Sleep...and one other, Binaural Beats from a different maker.
I've not read anything where others were having problems with those apps or those apps causing problems.
:End Example
Please help I'm on CM9 maybe if ur on ICS you can state differently? Its a buck in play store so I can't post a copy here but if ur willing to help fix this? A dollar? Sure! Hmu Thanks!

I recently upgraded to jellybam and noticed it was missing almost everything that I
needed to function with on a day to day basis and this is okay, except for some things.
I already looked allover XDA about this and noticed there really is not much on the topic
so I feel help is needed at this point.
What I am wondering the most is where is the video player...?
Also, the camera layout on jellybean sucks, is there anyway to change this?
Any help is appreciated!! Thank you
Well i guess the rom comes with lesser apps than a rom would from the factory. As for a video player i have super video and i'm sure theres a few other good ones. About the camera layout, i don't think you can change that.
Edit: And i am also running jellybam.
Did you update to a custom rom, or did you update through kies. Either way, when you updated you could have restored your phone through google and all your apps shoudl have re-downloaded onto your phone. if thats not the case, open up your play store, hit the menu button, and tap on my apps. after that you'll see a list of all the apps you've downloaded and you can re-download them.
as far as the camera on jellybean not being great, you could always flash a different camera onto your phone if you are rooted. 4.2 camera is super nice.
and i just started using MX player and its pretty nice. Free and has a lot of codecs.
In a lot of Roms you have to reflash "gapps" search XDA for latest version. It is all the Google apps.

The jellybam rom comes with gapps i think he's talking about some samsung native apps.
If you updated to a stock firmware you should get the GAPPS automatically now if you install a 3rd party ROM like AOKP or CyanogenMod you have to install GAPPS manually just Google it you can find lots of information on it online
