Shoutcast playback - Windows Phone 7 General

Anyone got some sample code or tips to get shoutcast to play back in silverlight/wp7? Seen some stuff on MSDN but i can't get anything to work. I can play a regular mp3 easily just accessing it via http, but a stream.. not yet.
any code snippets from someone who's already "been there done that" would be appreciated

Here is a codeplex project that was just setup from the discussions on Apphub. Please feel free to join the project and give your 2 cents (a student project initially, but wouldn't mind seeing it grow to a usable library)

Artist seeks talented game developer, for RTS, TD or other game.

HI, I am new, this is my first real post so if this is posted in the wrong area sorry.
SO, I was working with a zune developer on an RTS and I had a large amount of art done for it. He got overwhelmed with the project and so I am looking for someone who thinks they can tackle an RTS. I have all gesture commands and ui layed out as well as basic unit properties. I have about a dozen fully animated sprite units and about 6 buildings complete so far.
If you think you are upto the challenge OR have a solid game that you would like some killer art done for let me know. BUT, I want to see it is some app store, I dont want to waste my time with a fizzled project.
If you want to use sprites I have already made thats cool, I would only request a cut when the game goes on an app store.
Very nice sprites, and the game looks good so far. Were you able to keep the source or do you plan on starting from scratch?
all info pertaining to the game can be found here.
I think the game is open source as others have dived into it. I know pathing was a difficult problem and did not have much of a solution. the project was for the zuneHD.
I will move this to SW development since this is an ongoing project, once you have a close to finished, or finished product PM me and I will move it back. IE Beta. .

Hey I'm a programmer looking for an artist to work with on various projects. I currently focus on Android development however I do have some experience with XNA / C# before (made a little tilemap engine on it and whatnot). I also just got my Samsung Focus registered on my developer account and have compiled a test sample on it just 2 days ago. I am really excited about Windows Phone 7.
I ALSO plan on making a fully crossplatform RTS at some point for iOS / Android / WP7 and I may be able to get started now. However, I would definitely want to sell it and keep it closed source / proprietary. Making an RTS is a HUGE task however, and will need a lot of planning and thinking ahead.
If you're in USA that's an extra bonus. If you have MSN Messenger that's another bonus. PM me if you're interested in working together on various projects.
There's a current "small" and cross-platform 2d game project I'm working on that I don't want to disclose publicly atm and we can discuss that if you have any interest in that, but I guarantee you I would love to make an RTS in the near future but merely lack an artist and an idea .
In my signature you can see all the devices I own for testing on. I am very inclusive, I love all smartphones.
I also do some music, I can show you some samples if you are interested in going further in regards to this.
Raptor550, I've sent you a PM, could you check please?
P.S. Seems like by default the PM notifications are disabled here.

Start an open source project - anyone want to join?

Hey guys,
I'm a Windows Phone dev who's thinking of maybe starting an open source WP7 project, if I can find a few other people who'd be interested and if anyone has an idea for an application which people would want?
Drop a response here if you're interested
I would but I just started learning programming,. But I would be a tester fir sure.
Sent from my Schubert using Board Express
audio hub for omnia of course with equalizer please thx
Windows Phone needs a good podcast app.
I'd love an app to rival DoggCatcher on Android. It would allows you to subscribe to feeds, download episodes, and listen to them, all within the app.
I plan on working on this if/when I get my Windows Phone device.
yeah would love to see a decent podcast app that can download podcast rather than just stream.
Podcast apps on marketplace is great but with 1Gb limit on data cant do alot of streaming
GPS application with offline map
I would be interested in working on this. And by the way, SlapDash Podcasts lets you download/subscribe/stream podcasts, I don't know why it's less popular than the other ones in the Marketplace.
I will be a beta tester if you want.. I know a little about programming but not so confident..

i 'm in
I am willing to help you if I can. just let me know.
shinaku,
Are you a seasoned developer, or just starting to learn?
I was thinking of a simple application that could prove to be a bit challenging to implement. Specifically I am thinking of a remote touch pad application. You will connect this app (client) to a computer, which has a service installed. The app will send mouse commands like move, click, etc to the service, which in turn will control the mouse cursor on the computer.
What do you think about this?
I would love to see a Gameboy Advance emulator. I have no skill at programming, but I can help with the graphics (already have some layouts created from my work on the Zune HD gameboy emulator).
I will volunteer my device for testing if you need. Unfortunately I don't have the time to co-op a open source project. Best of luck though.

Image Sizes and Costs

I downloaded somewhere some image sizes - below are two. I am not too sure which one I downloaded these for / from. But can these icon information be used for Windows Mobile 7, Android, and iPad / iPhone?
From what I think I remember speaking with one developer helping him with testing his game, I think he said it was $99.00 a year for 100 applications. If I only wanted to submit one (free) application, would it be better to find someone that already has the feature to develop this application? The application is very small - mainly to read one specific RSS feed.
Hey
the developer account costs are not connected to the image license price. If you want to submit a WP7 app to the marketplace, you have to own a developer account, that costs $99/year. But this price does not grant the permission to use these pictures. You have to ask the creator whether you're allowed to use them.
Regards
Chris
Thanks - sorry I did not mean to imply I would use these images, I just did not know if it was these image (sizes / quality) that was needed.
If the developer has an account though and he develops the app that I need, can he use that account to upload the app?
Hey
For the licensing procedure and requirements you should visit this link:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh184843(v=VS.92).aspx
But I don't get your question. If you're asking wheter you could have another developer programming and submitting the application you need the answer is yes. Every developer that has an account can send apps in. You just have to find someone that wants to create your application. Another possibility would be to program your app yourself and send the compiled version to a developer, so that he can pass it to the WP marketplace...
Regards
Chris
If you need an app built for something easy like an RSS feed, check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941248
it discusses a build your own app website.
http://thirdlabs.com/
I have never used it and have no afiliation with the site, but it looks easy enough...
Anywho, once the app is made, you can
sideload it (if you're unlocked)
pay for a dev account and submit it ($99 a year)
try to get a free student account and submit it (see here )
find someone with a dev account that will submit it for you
good luck
Thanks for the links! I have run into the RSS feed link - but it was not that site.
Yes, Chris - that answers that question. I thought as much but wanted to make sure. (Sorry it is difficult for me to sometimes get my point across due to my health).

[Work in Progress] dIRCa - WP7 IRC Client

Welcome! I wanted to let the community know about the IRC client I was building but there are some major caveats that may turn you off.
First, you absolutely need a dev unlocked phone. This can't be sold on the Marketplace yet because I'm using Homebrew sockets from this very forum (well the hacking one but you get what I mean). Mango will change this but that's a good 6 months off if we're lucky.
Second, in it's current state it is pretty bare and you may hate me for it. There is currently no tombstone support so you have to connect again any time you move out of the app. This is my highest priority to fix.
The project is hosted on codeplex at http://dirca.codeplex.com/ and will be OSS. If any developers are interested you can either submit patches or I may give commit access depending on your previous work. I'll be honest, I need help in the form of feedback because I do have a direction finally but the IRC client code completely zapped me of all interest. There is more than enough work in just getting a functional UI but to have to work out IRC quirks is completely draining. After working on this, I would *never* recommend anyone work on an IRC client from scratch. You absolutely have to use a library like ircdotnet or smartirc4net to keep your sanity.
There's a SketchFlow project recently committed that outlines where I plan to take this, which is IRC with the look and feel of a Twitter client. The current incarnation feels way too much like mIRC which isn't a problem on it's own but that type of client doesn't translate to the phone well and this proves it.
Thankx my friends, very good project in WP7 !!
any way of connecting to a specific irc server or am I being a bit stupid??
Works, and You are on right path gui-wise so don't worry about that.
GUI is good, i like the way one moves through channels. Some thoughts after some testing:
- Possible bug: didn't connect to server in port 39998 without changing the option of default port to 39998 even when own server had port-option right.
- In auto-feeding of discussion in channels last line (the most recent line) is cut of, i.e the auto-feed is "one line too slow"
You're in very good way with this, I'll be checking in to this as I'm a irc-user and have been without irc in WP7 so far, thanks for the work!
Wishlist (always got to have a wishlist!)
- Option to change text-color & size
- tombstone will be great when it comes
