App Inventor and Droid Incredible Instructions please help - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have spent the better part of the day searching the internet for good instructions on how to connect the Droid Incredible to Google's App Inventor http://appinventor.googlelabs.com/about/
Does anyone know how to connect it or have good instructions on how to? Any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
Zach

Should have instruction on the site somewhere. It on the right hand side. Basicly put into USB mode. Set the phone to never sleep. Connect to system. Launch appimventor. Did you get an invite. Or is it open testing now.

It does but to be honest the instructions kind of suck ...
This is the page that Google refers to will help but I tried it and nothing:
Here are the full instructions from Google for windows at the bottom the mention the incredible:
http://appinventor.googlelabs.com/learn/setup/setupwindows.html
http://www.flexjunk.com/2010/05/01/installing-htc-incredible-android-sd-drivers/
But yeah I have a beta invite. I am planning on buying my friends old droid which apparently has a lot more support.
I am just beginning to sink my feet into app development and want to use it to test the program.
If some one can help that would be great
Update:
To get an invite:
https://services.google.com/fb/forms/appinventorinterest/

The instructions that came with the email were perfect and easy. Took me all of 5 minutes to get it working.

seriously still no video???

still no video on how to perm root your g2???
come on guys!!!
help out all the visual learners
its one of the most simple rooting processes out just read the instructions its not hard
yea if i can root it while sitting at work, anyone can... dont need a video to see how its done, its pretty simple.
I too am a visual learner as well, but give it time. Root was obtained 2 days ago and it is like a new toy at christmas. Those who worked on obtaining root are working on the next step and those who manually rooted their phones are now in that happy place we all remember from our youth.
Good things come to those who wait, patience is a virtue...all that good stuff.

honestly man if you cant read simple steps laid out then you dont need to root. this is one of the easiest rooting directions. (try rooting samsung moment)
Its not that I can't read simple steps, this is my first time rooting a device, I don't know even where to start

I would also like a video. I know it is a simple process but I would like to see it done before I try it myself. I would hate to eff up my phone because of a little mistake I made. I did all kinds of stuff to my G1 but that's the only phone I have experience with.

If you can't root with the instructions then you shouldn't be rooting at all. Very simple root. I did it at work as well on my lunch break.
[G2/HTC Vision]
I am not trying to be rough on the OP. I too like videos to show me how things work. But please understand that the act of making the video, hosting the video, posting the video link would take about twice as long as actually rooting the phone.
Go here and follow the directions.
If you don't have ADB and need to install it go here and follow the directions.
If you need the driver for the G2 after you've installed ADB go here. All of that is simple to do if you just read the directions. If you can't be bothered to simply read the directions then I can't really help you. This is the rage root technique, not the Visionary. I tried rooting my phone via Visionary and it didn't work so I just went the manual method and it worked flawlessly.
Wow...the nerve to make a thread like this. Not only was the root finding process long, but everyone involved was kind enough to share it with everyone and within hours there were easy to follow threads on how to root the phone.
You "don't know where to start"? C'mon now...you can't seriously tell me that you cannot follow:
Download files
Push files
Type commands
Rooted
Do you need a video to do your job as well? Did you need (or do you need) a video to follow a class in school? Sorry if I'm being an assh0le, but geez...seriously.
Not to mention the video might not be incredibly exciting. Seriously, there's not a whole lot to it that would require a video tutorial. You're just moving files and typing in a few things (carefully) and you're done.
I thought about it but don't really want unroot just to root again for a tutorial.

adb + mac + rooting
A very helpful and straightforward post on how to set up/run adb on a mac for all you mac users out there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5938688&postcount=9
Once you've managed to run adb, the rest is pretty easy as long as you read through it carefully.
Type in: 'adb --help' to get a list of commands you can put in. If you read through it you should see all the commands you need to get started in rooting your phone. Is all you really need to know like xyrcncp posted is:

The above combined with the instructions on how to root will help you get to the finish line.
Still confused on this whole 'push' concept?
Here are two references that might help:
From the Android developers site: Android Debug Bridge (adb)
and
From androidforums.com: How to push for dummies
I hope that helps, even if it isn't a video. I suggest people read through the instructions before they attempt to root their phones just so they're familiar with what they need to do.
Check out my Youtube channel, I have a video up now.

The "helpful" part was us sending the message across that "it's easy to do and not worth the effort for a video." Which I'd also bargain was "constructive" as we weren't insulting, bashing, or doing personal attacks.
But now that someone took it upon themselves to make a video, the OP and visual learners should be happy.

Look I know it can get annoying and repeatative but still this is what was so great about xda that a noob can come in here ask questions and get pointed in the right direction without ridicule or being made to feel stupid or inferior everyone of us was a beginner once and has asked stupid questions anyways thank you sooo much to all of the helpful peeps in here ur appreciated

"Remember, we were all a noob once"
But OP how about you open the thread with maybe "Any video for the rooting process?"
Your title is so imature its most likely what prompted this type of response from the other members?

[Q] Control HTC Evo through Computer

Hey recently ive decided that I want to replace my stereo in my car with a mac mini and an external tough screen. I first thought I would try to use the HDMI feature of the Evo to view my phone on the screen, but I would want it to be interactive on the screen. So then I decided I should find a program that will allow me to use my Evo through a usb cord so the Evo displays on in a window on my mac or windows pc and i can interact with it from there. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? Or does anyone wanna take on this project?
There is a thread on this topic in Q&A. I saw it maybe 2 days ago. Has a few suggested apps to control your evo via pc or vice versa.

hahaha i know. but those run through the web and i cant share the same connection if im creating the wifi form my phone.
and the ones that i found that go through usb, which is 1, refreshes and 4 frames a second =/
you could wire up a wifi router..
Here's the thread he was talking about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971209
Anyway...
I used this: Droid VNC Server (FREE, requires root)
And this: VNC® Viewer Free Edition 4.1 for Windows (also free)
It's pretty choppy, but it works.
If you don't have Windows, pretty much any VNC viewer will work, there's lots of them out there (Google it).
Appreciate it. And yea. The last two days I've been doing research and trying out different ones, and everything had been laggy or choppy. I made this hoping to find a hidden gem that worked perfectly or someone that knew how to get it working flawlessly

Try mymobiler, it works perfectly for me. Just go google "mymobiler", it is the first result comes up.
Google android screencast, as long as your phone can be detected by adb it works great!

Evo Roms with Google Talk Video

Any 2.3 roms out there have Google talk video chat working on EVO?
Thanks!
Hope you're wearing a fire retardant suit.
You're going to have to give the devs more than a few hours to get a rom up, especially when this feature was JUST announced, let alone even pushed to most Nexus S's.
I'll get in here before you get flamed to death, because this place is about as considerate as a vulture.
That i know of, no, i havent heard of it working on any cell phones yet even. Kinda sucks, but its rumored to be included in android 2.3.4. Who really knows though.
Next time make sure this go in the Q&A section though, im sure toastcfh has better things to do than move threads
Edit: Give a week AT LEAST and we may see this in something like CM7, just announced by google
roflmao they just announced that on the nexus2 i think

Now do that for PC/MAC/*nix. Qik streams online but no 2 way video chat to pc. Fring and tango no luck. Oovoo works on windows with crap quality no *nix support. Google talk video plug in works for pc,mac and linux computers this will be the best way to go about video chat from mobile to pc.

[Q] Bought a "rooted" kindle fire. seems like its missing part of the root?

Hey everyone, I have a couple questions about rooting a Kindle fire.
I bought one for my wife off of Craigslist for $100. Great shape. works great. Internet browser works great.
It has several applications installed on it related to GO? Like GO launcher EX and GO store, GO weather themes, etc. I thought I could use the GO store to download apps but everytime I would try to search and download I would get no search results not matter what I typed in the search bar.
The guy I bought it from said I could use Android market on it to download apps but I couldnt find the market anywhere on the tablet.
I assumed it needed installed so I downloaded Root Explorer and was following directions to install android market from a Youtube tutorial. Everything was working great until I needed to "move" an exported file to another file location.
The kindle was not giving me the option to move the file and the tutorial said if I didnt have that option I was not rooted.
So can I "reroot" it and then install android market?
Any advice you can give would be great, sorry if this was covered in another thread.
thanks again! :good:
wow thanks for all the info! really helps! Ill try that asap
And no I do not have a kindle fire. I just bought it for her because she wants to be able to read 50 Shades of Grey whenever she wants....lol

by "the first book" do you mean the bible? that's free on most outlets such as the kindle app which is available from the google play store. nobody here is going to direct you to a link to pirate things though... if you must find illegal copies of books I would try searching for digital copies of the book in question on google

Voice controlled TV Remote using Tasker/Utter!

Edit: the correct links are down a couple posts.
I posted this over in the AT&T forum and thought I'd give back a little cause its pretty cool.
I recently posted a question in Q&A about any TV remote apps that can be voice controlled. No luck. I stumbled upon this tasker plugin by Ozkaya that is awesome. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=45572797. It allows you to program your IR remote with Pronto hex codes(many found here http://www.remotecentral.com/ as posted in the Dev's thread).
I combo'd this with Utter! and like magic, I was able to program voice controllable macro's, functions, anything really as long as the hex codes were available. And there is alot of them. I have Verizon Fios and the motorola codes worked for my box even though they weren't the same model. To me, this is an awesome show off tool (and slightly practical if I am eating chicken wings and need to switch between football games!). I literally say "phone" to wake up utter and "channel back" or "ESPN". as a command.
I did nothing here but stumble upon a combo of apps that work great together. If you like the idea please check out the thread and thank the Dev's and support their work. I feel this is one of those gems that slipped back a few pages and got lost. Hope you like it too.
If someone really wants to get tweaky, here is another plugin for Tasker that will initiate the voice recognition in Utter! when the phone is on charge and the stop it when is taken off charge. Its towards the bottom of the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=34339449.
Congrats using tasker! I hate it! I prefer just writing out a full android app xD

Thanks for the ideas. I mainly do this to really show the kids what can be done with this tech, but this is actually practical as my 85 pound "lap dog" likes to curl up on me and makes getting to the remote a little hard at times.
God, it took me hours to figure out how to get Tasker to send a text at a set time and for that have hated Tasker and never delete that profile, but going to try this out. Thanks for posting man

Thanks bro. Its definetly more of a cool show off tool but I searched hard for an app that did it and ccouldn't find one. Tasker is a little tough but this is all premade commands so its a little easier. Still took me a few minutes to set up though. Regardless, I imagine only a few people can this with a phone which makes it cool to me. Hope you like it too.
No problem.
I had a moment of being a complete ass.
Go into a local place that has the TV just way too loud.
Have the phone programmed to send the universal TV off codes and just say "Phone, shut that **** off" and see what happens.
