Samsung Tv remote - Desire General

Hi
Samsung have released a tv remote for the galaxy s that will allow you to control some of their new tv models.
The apk is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7887180&postcount=12
However it wont install on my HTC desire. Error "Application no installed" Is it possibly to extract the apk and install manually? Failing that are there any galaxy s 2.2 roms running on the desire? Im sure i remember a 2.1 rom that did.
Thanks
Huw

TV remote?
I believe this could be a strongly hardware related app.
Furthermore : Most of the TV remotes are running with infrared signals, well....
Desire doesn't have infrared transmitting or receiving hardware, not without an additional accessory.
That could be the cause why the app is not running on Desire.

This programme doesnt work like that - it transmits commands over your lan by wifi which the tv then picks up either via ethernet or wlan. I just need to get it installed. Maybe installing the touchwiz ui would make it work?

I'd love to get that working on my Desire too, tried to install but it spat it out.

I would like it as well. Somebody must know how to do it. It does even exist on iphone. Why not any other android???

I am also interested as to whether anyone has this working on their desire. Any news?

maybe because its a samsung app for a samsung device for a samsung tv - they may have put in a little piece of code checking that it is running on a samsung device?
just a thought...

Maybe a bit far fetched:
But have you tried putting the app into /system/app/ then restart your phone.
I don't know if you could do this or that it will work, must be worth a try

Guys, is there a separate/external infrared device -like an external gps receiver- can be controlled via BT from phone thanks to a dedicated app and acts as a repeater for commands; i.e. receive and transmit to tv/dvd/stereo/whatever?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Anyone had any joy with this ?
I have a desire HD and a C9000 so would be nice to get it working!

In the market it says:
This application is only for Samsung Mobile Phone and will be updated soon to work with other Android phones.
I wonder how long soon is ?

onstom is the MAN!

Download
Works great, hurray!
PS: App is only for C-series (I think), however, there is an app in the market for the B-series.

hi guys!
C550 TO TV remote control can be done?
or is there another tv remote control C550 which TO would be good?
I tried many things but none of them does not work.
Thanks!

Don't know exactly what you're meaning, but if you have a newer C-series Samsung TV, which is also connected to your wlan, and you want to have a android-remote-control for that, you should try the app from the post above.
Otherwise, ???

That's great timing - I just ordered a Samsung UE40C6000 - any idea if the above link will work with Desire + that tv?

[Q] WiimoteController for Epic, anyone get it to work?

Has anyone had any success so far trying to pair a wiimote to the Epic?
I keep getting a bluetooth not found when I try with WiimoteController.
If I try to connect just using the bluetooth connectivity app, the phone sees the wiimote, but there is no way to find the pairing code.
Are there any known bluetooth game pads that can be paired with the epic and button mapped?
Talked to the dev of the wiimote app. He says it's incompatible with Samsung devices, no plans on making it compatible.
well, it's not compatible, but there is a game grip coming out soon that perhaps rivals or even surpasses the wiimotes usability.

He can't make it compatible as it most likely has to do with how Samsung implements Bluetooth. I dont understand why phone companies are limiting the devices that can connect to their phones as it just limits functionality. Cyanogen Mod 6 fixed this for the EVO... so it's possible a custom rom can do the same for the Epic.

I heard that was backwards and that the epics bluetooth stack is too new and not fully compatible with older devices. Maybe the new wiimotes coming out with motion plus inside will work.
i hope so cause i just got nba jam for snes and would love to use a controller
From what I understand it has to do with the samsung 3.0 bluetooth. No Galaxy S phones have been able to get it to work....yet. I would love this for my Captivate, but you Epic people have a keyboard. Better than nothing

My epic connects to my bluetooth in my 2005 Lexus without problem. Wii is a whole lot newer.
from what ive seen around the block, the bluetooth pairing code isnt null (no password) but the password is actually the MAC ID reversed. so if the bluetooth mac is 01:02:03:04:05 then the password would be 0504030201. never really had the time to test this or try this out but someone might and we will be one step closer
I just saw a video where a guy was showing off n64oid on a nexus s using a wiimote via bluetooth and since that is a galaxy s variant I was wondering if this is any hope for a wiimote working with the epic.

Nexus S is AOSP. Our Galaxy S phones has a different bluetooth stack that will not allow a Wiimote to connect to it, & its up to Samsung to change this, same as HTC and phones that uses Sense. Either get a game gripper (www.game-gripper.com, I just ordered one yesterday), or wait for CM7 to come out for our Epics, then you can use a Wiimote.
The pic on engadget showed an epic using wiimote+ nunchuck combo
Unless that was a nexus s or something. I really hate the similarities between all these damn phones. The sgs line was milkeddddd

Cyanogen mod 6 works with the wii remote and nunchuck. Cyanogen mod 7 should work fine too. Unfortunately, the nunchuck's joystick can only be set to up, down, left and right... No in between so running around is a bit of a pain.

So if I switch ROMs to CM6 or CM7 the bluetooth profile should be correct for the wiimote app?

[Q] Android Netflix App for A7?

Does anyone know if the new Android Netfix app will ever work on the A7? I installed it on my EVO and it is sweet! But the screen is TINY!

I don't count on it ever working, but I put playon on mine and it works pretty much perfectly. You can install it on your computer then you are basically steaming but you have Netflix, Hulu CBS,tbs comedycentral, syfy and the list goes on.You can try it out for a couple of weeks for free and then if you want to keep it they are pretty cheap and have several ways to subscribe, from monthly, yearly and even a one time payment for a lifetime subsciption.Anyway I got tired of waiting and got it on sell and haven't looked back.It is more than you can imagine and you can use it on PS3.Xbox,Wii,and several blueray players.Pretty much anything that is DLNP capable .
Anyway didn't mean to ramble but hope this helps.
There is a netflix app available without the checks and already signed. Most have said they can get it running in a gingerbread rom. I haven't been able to get it working on the A7's rom however.

I know that they won't allow it to run on devices that are rooted, but I think if you search the forums you'll find a modded apk that should run.

Thanks,
I had installed the cracked version on my Evo4G and Evo3D, and it installed on the A7 but would never work.
I always ignored the "there is a newer version available" message until I read your post. Works like a charm now... Resolution seems like it sucks a little, but that may have just been the movie I tested with.
Just down loaded from Market. Install and logged in. It works great!!!

I updated to this version and it works well. I've noticed that the resolution starts out bad but rapidly improves. I am really happy with this tablet now. It pretty much does most things I want it to do. Only thing left for me to conquer is moving apps 2 external SD.
Thanks to everyone that has helped develop the mode!
Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that you can adjust the quality of your stream through netflix. Just head to your account page on netflix.com and towards the bottom is a link to adjust the quality.

On my completly factory A7+ I got netflix working only through an account on amazon
Still can't find way for un modified A7+ to get HBO GO
more to point. I cant get netflix audio (or any audio) through hdmi on my ~5 yr old Insignia HD TV, is it possible adjusting stream quality will solve the no audio? I tried it on a new 55" Toshiba and audio/video work perfect (and wow, a 3' tall angry bird is cool)
This has been answerd in old threads as, "some tv's audio works, some don't"
Any new fixes?
Anyway to put screen to sleep while still streaming through hdmi?

[Q] Mirrorlink

Ok, so im interested in a particular incar double din radio which supports Mirrorlink, which basically allows apps from a smartphone to be put onto the screen by blutooth and usb and be used as normal as if the app was installed on the doubledin player. Howerver the Mirrorlink is only "certified" on certain devices.
As far as ive read on the forums here its been discussed for other devices but development and discussion went nowhere but it was found that it was entirely software and there was no hardware requirements which means it "can" be used with other non certified phones but it would have to be a modified .apk obviously.
Are there any dev's willing to take a look? the Samsung galaxy s3 is a supported device and its been reported that the s2 also works despite not being "certified". Its been said its not just as simple as getting the apk and installing it.
data here:
http://mirrorlink.com/
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-in-car-multimedia/xav-601bt
I knew it was a longshot, back to the drawing board i guess :fingers-crossed:
I'm interested in this too - don't have the headunit yet to test it but don't see why we can't install the Samsung app on an HTC phone? Looking at mirrorlink it seems to be some sort of VNC app so its entirely in software... Did you try installing the samsung apk at all?

39” Kogan Agora Smart LED TV Using Android 4.0 (ICS)

Hi all just found this At Kogan.com.au
>> Kogan.com/au/buy/39-agora-smart-led-tv-full-hd-usb-input-pvr-digital-tuner-presale-special <<
Android ics, PVR, 1080p and a good list of playback formats as well.
CPU=Cortex A9 1.0GHz
GPU=Mali400
RAM=512MB
RAM Type=DDR2
Internal Storage= 4Gb
Wonder what could be done as far as. customisation, Root, Roms (unlikely) but would be cool.
What do you guys think how could you see customisation on a tv like this? or what rom would you have if you could choose?
and could modding on these type of devices catch on?
Thank you for your time

I managed to root mine, it wasn't difficult.
The Android board seems to be one designed for a settop box (as you would expect), but has modifications to make it suitable for running from within a TV rather than as a separate unit.
The hardware appears to be made by CVT Electronics in China. I don't see any settop boxes available through them that have similar hardware, so I would expect that they have been built for this purpose, but CVT are leaving themselves (left themselves) open to using is as a standalone box motherboard, but have been modified for this use in a Kogan TV by some third party.
The busybox installed in their ROM is a custom version in /system/xbin If you root it, don't replace the busybox. It's likely no standard builds will have the feature set required by this ROM.
The specs look like a regular f16ref board, but I would prefer to be certain before attempting to install a f16ref ROM.
Also, it seems that there should be a remote control config file in /system/etc that should be copied beforehand so it can be reinstalled on a replacement ROM - I have not checked on this.
More soon.

Mirrorlink / Android Auto Receiver app?

Hi Guys,
So I have had for a while an Nexus 7 (Gen1) running in my car as a full infotainment system, and overall it works very well indeed (it has its quirks, but what doesnt!)
Anyway, with the coming changes in UK law doubling penalties and fines for anyone caught handling a phone, I wondered if MirrorLink could be a "workaround", in the sense of allowing basic phone integration without using the phone!
Anyway, I know some head units come "with MirrorLink" - the question is, can I make an android tablet come "with MirrorLink" so I can then use mirrorlink through my N7 and control my phone?
EDIT: ALSO I have just been reading on Android Auto - is there a receiver app for this as well?
EDIT 2: OK so I have found "Head Unit Reloaded" as an option for working with Android Auto, now I just need to find a way to make the tablet "Mirrorlink" receiver...
The tablet is fully rooted and runs TIMUR's USB ROM OS.
Did you find any way out for doing this ???

Mirrorlink is 10x dumber than Android Auto.
For a ML-like app search EasyConnect. It's the app that comes with all chinese Android units and allows for full mirroring of the phone.
There are also a number of Android-based alternatives like using Miracast.
However, in terms of driving safety AA is way better than any screen mirroring.
