I am not to good at bands.... what nice phones are available to me that would provide 3g on Rogers....locked or unlocked? To give you a style idea... my last 3 phones were the nexus one, iPhone 4 and now the sexy dhd.....
I am risky trying to make it work....but sometimes I just need 4g, thx

bump for your cause.
There is no canadian g2. Chances are you won't get 3/4g with it on att anyways

I'm sure he means the Bell Desire Z.

I'm sure that is what he means as well. The Bell Desire Z is fully compatible with ATT's 3G network.

The Inspire is just the ATT branded version of the Desire HD, which came out around the same time as the Desire Z/G2. And both phones are fully compatible with ATT's HSPA+ "4G" network.
What don't you like about the Inspire? If its the lack of keyboard, you should try Swype. But you would have to play some games in order to get it loaded, since Swype is not a Market app.
Where are you located? In in Ventura CA and am kooking to trade for an Inspire 4g for ATT. I have the Desire Z unlocked on ATT. Its in great condition. Maybe we can figure something out.

I know that the inspire 4g is the same as the desire us I just
ment that the phone itself is new. And I am talking about the desire z
but I thought if I put that in my post nobody would look. The reason that
I want a g2 is that I just love the way it looks and I prefer a hardware
keyboard. And to the person that asked I live in Somerset,Ky Zip Code 42501
and of you are serious about the trade then private message me your
phone number and I will text you
Might buy my gf a G2, but she's on AT&T. I can get s-off and all that, I would just like to know how well it performs on their network.
What are the 2G speeds on there? Any downsides besides being on 2G 24/7?
Thanks for any helpful input!
The 2g should really be the only downside. I used unlocked jailbroken iphones on tmobile and my only beef was the data connection. Hoping android gets as responsive(I don't give a **** what any of you fanboys say or think..ios is still smoother overall)as ios before the merger(which it should) or I might take a trip down apple-lane again.
But it should be a good fit for her minus data speeds...sorry for the rant lol

you'd be much better off getting a Bell HTC Desire Z from Canada. All the major networks up here (Bell, Telus, Rogers) use the same frequencies as AT&T so you'd get the full 3g/(fake)4g speeds.

I would love to, but I'm getting a decent deal for one locally so I can't go the desire z route, unless I find someone willing to trade.
My gf has a blackberry, once I unlock the g2 or desire z, can I just pop in the sim and it'll work or does she's have to switch plans?
Thanks guys!

I'm currently in Israel, and I had a LTE GN sent to me from America. I see that it has a microSIM card slot. If I were to get a microSIM, would I be able to hop off the networks here?

To be honest, I think you are the first one ever, to IMPORT a US-specific carrier-phone to try to use it internationally instead of just getting the international GSM version
a LTE GN from usually means this one: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus_i515-4301.php
as such it is a cdma phone, but LTE requires it to have a micro sim. It has no GSM radio whatsoever. And most likely it is locked to verzion.
simply put, no.
Ha, right. Well I didn't intentionally do this, it just happened that a friend had an upgrade with Verizon and he some how got the Nexus for free. He's using his BB here in Israel so he let me play with it. Its nice to have a solid feel with ICS.
Bummer.

There's no LTE networks in Israel...
...yet. Now that there's this whole boom the Communications Minister caused by getting all the new carriers to join the market, I think that Golan Telecom is the only one who is planning on getting the whole system up to 4G (LTE) when their thru.
In the meantime, though, your out of luck. Even if you did unlock the Verizon LTE phone, and get a microSIM (which is, btw, no problem here in Israel, all the carriers have them), you still wouldn't be able to use it as a cell phone since all the networks here are 3G and don't support LTE.
Damn zombies. Friends don't let friends resurrect threads that have been dead and buried for several months.

Hi, I have a Desire hd from at&t, it's debranded but I have no 3g internet connection only edge. I've tried to change radios and roms, but I haven't succeeded :/ what should I try? Thanks for your help
You have an Inspire 4G. It cannot receive 3G where you live, it doesn't have the correct hardware.

No it's not an inspire 4g because it has only 1,5 gb rom not 4 but it's a funny phone cause everything is like in other dhd-s but i have to flash the inspire audio fixes and this 3g problem is here too every multi device rom recognises it az desire hd too. :/ I don't know what to do with it. Thanks

You say its from att, so IT IS an inspire. The rom size is just BS by att. All ace devices have 1.5gb USER accessible rom. As biglittlegato said above its a hardware thing and their is nothing you can do to get 3g outside of north/south America and Australia.
All roms will show as desire HD unless the build prop has been edited to show inspire.

Listen to these 2. They know what they are talking about.
Ok, thanks guys :/
Anyone know if there's a way to get 4G working with a UK Desire HD. The Desire HD came out before 4G was available in the UK but the US version is 4G compatible so i thought perhaps the device would have the capability to use 4G.
The us version isNOT 4g compatible. They just gave it the 4g name so people will buy it. Its the same as the dhd. I'd would call it 3.5g Max.
Now to your question. The answer is simply no. The hardware is just not there
Oh right. Well that's definitely false advertising. Nevermind.
You can edit the build.prop to gain faster speeds down and up.
