[ROM]VillainROMZ & SuperVillainZ for the G2/DZ - Sense UI & Vanilla Style! - G2 and Desire Z Android Development

WELCOME TO VILLAINROM
This bit’s the introduction. If you’re not interested in who we are, or how we got here, or are of the TL;DR mentality, then skip this entire section.
I HAVE INTERNET AT LAST! 5 weeks without it, and I'm officially back online, today! woop! Thank you for your patience. We wanted to make sure this ROM was right for you all prior to release! As many of you have noticed, I’m well and truly back in to the world of custom roms, after a few months break over the summer. Believe me, it was well and truly needed. It’s great to be back though.
If you’ve come from a HTC Hero/Desire or Magic, the chances are, you’ve heard of VillainROM. For that reason, I won’t go into who we are in too much detail. Sufficed to say, we’re a hardworking team of collaborative developers, working towards a common goal; to improve on manufacturer’s versions of the Android OS’ and to provide alternative, AOSP versions. We will no longer be providing 'experimental beta' releases, but instead, only releasing ROMs we deem to be 'final'.
So... to the ROM!
Before I do, though, I’d just like to take this opportunity to offer a huge message of gratitude to the team at #g2root. Scotty2 and the team worked their arses off for weeks on this, and together they achieved what HTC attempted to make impossible. We all owe them a huge debt of thanks.
This thread will house two ROMs; each of which will have its own thread on VillainROM.co.uk, but it's more manageable in the one here. Because of this, I'd appreciate it if you could post the name of the ROM you're using prior to reporting a problem/giving praise. These ROMs follow the successful release of Villision last week, which was a combined effort between HomerSP and myself. Homer is a legend, and he's worked with me again on this one. Once labelled 'The Hotfix King', he has been known to de-odex sleeping frogs and some pretty large haddock. I thank him, once again for his help and support.
VillainROMZ for the G2/Z is a stock Sense UI build, with a few VillainROM tweaks. The more obvious tweak is that the reboot and reboot to recovery options have been added, but I assure you, more changes have been made to the 'back end', so you should see an improvement on performance.
SuperVillainZ on the other hand, is one of VillainROM's specialities. It was, some time ago, one of the most popular ROMs on the Hero, and offers a combination of SenseUI and vanilla. It's entirely based on VillainROMZ, with HomerSP's power menu tweak and the tweaks of VillainROM, however, Rosie, and Sense UI widgets have been removed from the build. In addition, the age old problem of the ALARM CLOCK + LOCKSCREEN has been FIXED, by the very same, fish de-odexing legend, HomerSP. That means, you can use your HTC alarm, with your vanilla lockscreen... at last.
SuperVillainZ offers users what are, in our opinion the best bits of Sense UI (apps), with a Vanilla-like feel. The huge reduction in /system size and applications obviously makes it run that little bit better, too. This is the perfect ROM for those that can't decide... to sense, or not to sense.
The ever growing list of credits - Thanks to: HomerSP, Pulser, Cyanogen, Scotty, #g2root, Ninpo, Kendon, Mike Coffee, Lenny, Shen, Jeremy, Paul (Modaco), Richard Trip, MikeBeecham, RaiderX, lox, benhaam, strange Chinese guy whose name I don’t know but regularly places leaks in my dropbox, ALL VILLAINROM users, and in advance to anyone who downloads any of these ROMs, supports us, or leaves feedback.
/End introduction.

For anyone who downloaded the ROM more than 2 minutes ago, please download it again, as I have corrected an error that gave you an older version of the ROM, without so much added awesomesauce.
Congrats to ddotpatel who spotted my *AHEM* deliberate little test (I wish... )

Hey, I downloaded the SuperVillain rom but the homescreen does not look anything like the picture posted? I'm looking for the Sense-style Clock/Weather but cannot seem to find it.

Very nice ROM.....
I have already downloaded and installed it successfully. So far I have not found any serious bugs yet.
One question : Is there such function that I can enlarge the system font size by this ROM? If yes, how to do it?
Thanks again for your good work!

Says in the OP - that's the new Fancy Widget.
I've been looking forward to this. Villivision ran beautifully but I just can't deal with the inferior dialler, clock and camera apps. Or the general ugliness of the statusbar and its icons. I hope those bits have been carried over.
Question - is there a CIFS module included in this?

Nice ROM
Nice ROM
I have two question
1. after flash this rom and first booted(no install any APK)
in setting/SD & Phone Storage
Available space only 0.88G that's normal right?
2. i want to restore my setting and apk using Titanium Backup
it told me not "rooted"
this ROM not included rooted?
Thank you for your response

Props for a solid stock ROM i.e VillainROMZ
So far it seems to be running smooth as

It's rooted but it doesn't have Busybox. Hit the "problems?" thing at the bottom of Titanium Backup to download it.

it is working,thanks

Would it be possible (in any way) to have this wonderful ROM ported to the Motorola Milestone 2?? Which just recently got rooted and clockwork recovery works now...

trackpad to wake is included, however it doesn't seem to work when the phone has been asleep for a long period of time.
Can someone confirm and post a bug report in the correct section over at villainrom.co.uk?
thanks

SuperVillainZ is best for people (like me) who love HTC's apps (that can't be directly replaced like wifi hotspot, flashlight, dialer etc) but are not a massive fan of rosie as a launcher.
I am sticking with sense for now, until I get bored of "new sense" but SuperVillain is usually my rom of choice.

Just to make it easier for you here are direct links to the bug tracking forum on VR.
Please use the correct one

Thanks!
Edit: xda link fixed, stupidly linked to the wrong rom

Flashed successfully. Everything seems to run in order and nothing out of the ordinary noticed. However, its quite late and I need some sleep, but I will report back if anything comes up. Thanks for the ROM. It's a great escape from the Rosie launcher while having the apps and features that came with Sense.

Not wishing to sound rude (though it probably will do), why do people have to specifically go to another website to log a bug for this ROM ? That's not how support for ROMs normally works on XDA, is it ? e.g. cyanogen doesn't tell you to go and log a formal bug report whenever you find an issue.

Welcome to post 5. If you are about to say this is post 3, then you are mistaken.
If your ignorance, stupidity and marriage to your aunt cause you to post such a blatantly retarded post that I struggle to comprehend how an ape managed to make onto the interwebs and create such a thing as a "profile" (nevermind the knowledge of how to flash ROMs) then it shall reside here. In a kind of hall of fame, for those of you whose intellect can be measured with a teaspoon. So how can I get my brain power slated on this hugely popular thread well.. there's only 2 simple rules which n00bs grasp quite quickly. Your post or question just has to be one of the following
A) A question been answered multiple times throughout the thread. Believe it or not there is actually a search function embedded within this hallowed forum for such a thing as finding answers to your more than likely moronic question.
Or
B) Just downright dimwitted.
So onto the twats:

Hey look at this idiot with his 30 posts just wandering in to ask such gems as "why are ROMs never intended for such low end devices slow?", "which way is up?" and "where is my arse, I cannot find it!".
If all 30 of your posts (I am too afraid to look) are as hilariously bereft of wisdom as this one, I fear some kind of celestial collapse or natural disaster about to happen caused by the sheer density of the stupidity you manage to bring to these forums.
Bravo.
(A guest appearance by our resident n00b bashing celebrity - Ninpo.)
Brilliant. Glad to see the Hero still alive and kicking.
Whats the point of republishing the ROM I already published?!

I appreciate your comments and yes I did talk to erasmux about this although he did not know I was reposting the links to his port, but we talked about it and I explained my reasons for it and he agreed it wasn't a problem. Looking back it seems like a stupid idea but its past now and no harm has been done.

Good luck Esa
Thanks ele, I'll PM you and discuss ways of contacting each other more conveniently.
To everyone else, I'll be updating the ROM to the shipped release tonight (thanks for the tip arnoslag). May change the kernel, that will depend on further testing tonight, I will also look some of the other niggles with this ROM and see if they can be fixed tonight, if I find any major issues, I'll hold back the release till tomorrow.

as I said I agree with your sentiments in the original post - was just laughing a bit about how it sounded like Erasmux was surprised
Both of you continue to do so much to help the hero retain interest on XDA!
Now what I really want to see is some further success with the honeycomb rom...
if GB sense is too much for the hero, maybe honeycomb without sense will be a more satisfying project.
1、I like mms's theme as mms of WildHero 。
2、can bluetooth work?
3、work fast and stable?
Are the window animations slugghish in this port ? :\
and i cant see in the description what works and whats not?! xd
EDIT: I think this rom is faster than wildhero, the animations, smoothness etc.

[ROM] OverDrive - Put your phone into OverDrive

Welcome to OverDrive
OverDrive is a ROM me and a few people have been working on for the past few months. This ROM poped-up first in Android Central by me Redbaron, The reason this poped-up was the main fact that there are only a hand full of ROMs for the LG Optimus V, and I am a flashing junkie, meaning I change ROMs like I chew gum, chew it up until the flavor is gone, then spit it out. So here is a ROM created from Stock, and built from the ground up. Having both tested to work on new and older Optimus V's in this thread you can find StockOV which is a rooted and modified running Android 2.2.1 updates are coming soon for this ROM. As for OverDrive, OverDrive is a heavenly modified ROM ported from Stock, running Android 2.2.2 removed all VM's stock apps, kept the Activate app, imported modules and files from kernels for optimum use and performance.
I AM NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR FLAWS IN YOUR PHONE, NOR BRICKED PHONES, YOU DO WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE BECAUSE YOU DO IT. A LITTLE KNOWN FACT DO NOT LG FACTORY RESET!!! UNDER ADVANCED MENU. DO NOT!!

Interesting let me look into that, as for a launcher, I know ADW works great. Please try out GoEX and see what happens, maybe let me know what happens?
Thank you for the complements
Hi there yes im running go launcher i like it. I think when there is alot of apps you have that illusion that its faster because of scrolling. I use horizontal launcher pro setting on this and its pretty nice too. But so far scrolling sideways works best for me. ADW is nice too. The kernel works nice for me too i use 480/806. Battery still seems to be good
I know exactly what you mean, I'm currently working on a custom kernel for OverDrive, I am also working on a custom ROM
I just bought my Optimus V and roms Display a Blackscreen. I can tell they are booting and things seem to work based on sounds but the video drivers are not working with this new phone.
Scratch That, I Just Tried To Install It And It Won't Load For Me Either. Just Getting The Black LG Screen, Please Help (It Was The 2.2.2 Version)
Edit: I'm Trying The v1.0 Now.
Edit: v1.0 Works But 2.2.2 Is What I'm Looking For.
Very interesting, I'm assuming both of you have newer Optimus V phones. Am I correct about this? If so then I need to investigate this issue, because this ROM has been known to work on both old and new phones. So all you guys get is a black screen yet you can hear the start up sounds? Sounds like my kernel needs the latest display drivers for the new Optimus V.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA
Don't know how handy you are with a kernel but I have but two requests if at all possible.
Multitouch typing is a bit of a pain on the OV. Alot of the times close taps (like C+H on the keyboard) get registered as a slide. Sometimes even further away keys like U+P. Dunno if its possible to fix that in the kernel but it would solve a major annoyance of mine.
The other, being implementation of "Deep Idle". I figured since CDMA eats more battery than GSM when connected, it could grant some extra time on battery.
And lastly, good luck on the ROM. I am stuck with Froyo due to IHO performance/battery woes and outside of my failed attempts to theme BumbleBee as Gingerbread, I've had nothing to look forward to. Will be testing more when you have your kernel up to go with the ROM.
One last Q Iforgot to ask. With regards to your current Stock version, is the Time Without Signal bug fixed there? Overclocking is of no real use to me, so flashing the BB kernel does me no good _for now_ (I could just use BB! ).

Yeah I just bought my phone about a week ago. I can hear the Start up sound and even unlock the phone and start to dial. The Screen is on I can see the back light but The Screen is completely Black. I would assume this is due to the Display Driver issue.

Thank you for your input, every peace of detail helps.
I have been investigating this problem ever since you posted the bug, It would seem the stock kernel is meant for the older phone, but this is an easy quick fix, Give me today to fix this and I will release an update today. Thank you again for your detailed bug report.

Overclocking is of no real use to me, so flashing the BB kernel does me no good _for now_ (I could just use BB! ).

I'm a little bit new to kernel development, yet I have experience but I just cracked the book on linux kernels which is the same basis of Android kernels, I can't promise anything, but I can do my best. The multi-touch might not be that hard to work on, as for the "Deep Idle" I will be looking into this and all about it, I have been working on perfecting my ROM(s) before continuing and finishing my kernel development, but I have taken your input into consideration, I think having more then 2 points for multi-touch will be a great advantage, but lets see what I can do. I have no team, no help, and still learning in the process, there are so many things to learn and so little time. As for the "Time Without Signal" I have found this fix for that problem, I don't think my StockOV ROM has the fix yet, because I did port it from the Stock Optimus V ROM. So I will be adding that to StockOV.
Hmm, ok. Obijohn had fixed the TWS bug in the kernel itself; would be helpful to have his BB kernel source. Dunno where he got/how he did the patch though. Would be much better than using the app.
As for multitouch, I think it's just how the phone handles the proximity of the two points. Unsure myself, I am just a power user, but I don't think the phone is capable of more than two points.
I wish your ROMs well. I'll be lying in the bushes in wait to test.
Updated StockOV 1.0 to 1.1!!!
StockOV has been updated to v1.1
Picasticks Modded Kernel
New Google Play Market
Dedeoxed

Overclockable
Check out the first post for more info.
Hope you all enjoy the new update
Keep your eyes pealed for OverDrive turning into a FroyoBread ROM.
Keep an eye out for the new GingerBread ROM coming soon!
Fixed StockOV's 1.1 download link...
I guess 1.1 was not up.
Link can be found on the first post.

I've been running Bumblebee 2.4 ever since release, and I've tried loads of other ROMS. They all are either too bloated, too slow, crash too often, or have features missing. I've been running 1.1 ever since release and I'm impressed. Works great - fast, and no problems. The new go-to ROM.

Thank you very much, I have spent a great deal of effort towards these two ROMs, I'm happy to know its the new "go-to ROM"
Just installed 2.2.2, so far so good. I installed the OC kernel but don't see any options under Settings to configure OC speed - do I need a particular app, or are the OC speeds not configurable?

You need an Overclocking app,
Search the market for
OverclockWidget, or CPU Tuner.
You can also use ROM Toolbox.
I don't add these apps because everyone uses different overclocking programs, I didn't want another app that takes up space.
Just for the convenience of the user,
Got it. Thanks for the quick reply.

You kids like ROMs? Yeah... me too.
If you poke around these forums, you'll see that I once put together a spreadsheet comparing many ROMs for the Wildfire S, and I gotta say: overall, I was impressed with what I tested (and I'm VERY thankful for the folks who keep cooking up these ROMs) but I was never fully satisfied. Thus, WildChild was born. I hope you find it useful, speedy, and good-looking (... okay, then at least good-looking).
WildChild is dedicated to my two WildChilds: Joshua and Matteo.
HTC Sense-based ROM, with most of the Sense removed. (Does that make Sense?
OS = Android "Gingerbread" 2.3.5
App2SD, BusyBox, rooted, zipaligned, and all that standard crap.
Running the Nemus launcher (built-in task manager that actually works; built-in ability to organize your apps; lock the layout of your home screen icons; use any combination of [3|4|5] x [3|4|5] app drawer grid; and other wacky ****.)
Some stock HTC APKs replaced with newer/more-efficient/prettier versions.
Old Google Market (runs faster than the newer versions).
Old SMS text messaging (your precious screen space isn't wasted by those pesky text bubbles).
aCalendar replaces the stock HTC calendar.
All installed APK's are at the latest version (at the time this post was published).
Minimal ringtones (to save space on /system). You can easily add your own!
Wake the phone (from sleep mode) by using the volume rocker switch.
Global audio equalizer (with a built-in WildChild preset).
Using E.Frat's latest Cake over-clocked kernel.
Fully modular and highly configurable. Just check the Add-On's section regularly.
Features unique to WildChild:
Beautifully and painstakingly themed in a way that pleases me (and hopefully you, too.
Modified SMS notification icon for task bar (stock one looks a lot like Email icon... not anymore!)
Funky volume up/down indicator sounds.
Font tweaks (the lockscreen clock is actually READABLE now).
100% guaranteed non-annoying boot animation. Plus, no bootdown animation (faster shutdown).
Unique lockscreen created by Tigger31337: a ring of (Wild)fire against the setting moon.
Unique method of APK-level customization. This translates into a more consistent end-user experience and less setup time for you! As far as I know, no other ROM uses this method, so I'll just sit back and wait for the copycats to hit the scene.
Crazy-sick amount of RAM (almost 300 MB FREE!!) out of the box.
Tons of internal storage space for your apps (77 MB free on de-odex. 117 MB free on odex!!)
Some other useless crap that I'm sure I forgot. Just try the damn thing. I bet you'll like it.
Tested (and works!) on Wildfire S GSM. Might work on CDMA; might not. Who the hell knows.
WildChild comes in 2 flavours: FULL and LITE.
FULL contains most of the stock HTC ROM functionality without all the bloat. For example, all HTC widgets are removed, APKs have been tweaked/compressed where possible, and the Nemus launcher replaces the default "Rosie" launcher.
LITE takes it a step further by removing even more rarely-used APK's as well as most of the Google backup/synchronization services. Please don't install WC-Lite and then ask me why you can't synch your accounts or I will drive down to your house and spank you in front of your parents.
To make your choice even harder, both flavours come in an ODEX and DE-ODEX version. Major difference? ODEX buys you more internal (high-speed) storage... good for hosting your widgets and other "critical" processes.
Check the screenshot below (19-WC-Compare.jpg) to see exactly what the space savings are between all the ROMs.
WildChild comes with the following applications already built-in:
aCalendar
AdFree
AnEq Equalizer (with custom WildChild preset built-in)
Barcode/QR Scanner
CalendarSnooze
FileExpert
Flashlight
GPSStatus
Link2SD
Nemus Launcher
NoFrills CPU
Notepad
PartitionsInfo Lite
QuickPic Gallery
ScreenFilter
Startup Auditor
SuperUser
Terminal
The Weather Network (not on the Lite version)
WiFi Manager
WiFi Tracker
(You really should know these steps by now, but for tradition's sake...)
Prepare and partition your SDCard. (Folks seem to enjoy a FAT32 primary, a 1 GB ext4 (I use ext2), and a 512MB Linux Swap... in that order.)
Copy the WildChild ROM .zip file to your SDCard. Cool.
Reboot into Recovery mode.
Wipe data/factory reset. (Do it twice, especially if on CWM)
Wipe Dalvik cache. (twice, as above)
Choose "Install zip from SDCard".
(You might have to toggle Signature Verification until it is Disabled)
"Choose zip from SDCard" and select your WildChild ROM .zip file.
(read the splash screen and wait about 2 mins.)
Reboot phone; wait another 2-3 mins.
N.B. Starting with WildChild v1.5, two reboots is now normal and expected during the setup.
When lockscreen appears with your local carrier time, you may unlock phone and start using.
Enjoy! (...and throw a "Thanks" my way! )
N.B.
For those on previous versions of WildChild, I will soon release an "upgrade pack" that will take you straight to v2.0. For those without the patience (hey, I don't blame you!), then go ahead and flash the full v2.0. The latter is probably the more stable option, anyway. As usual, ensure you backup your data first!
Might I make the following suggestions? Why, thank you:
OS Settings: disable vibration on type, set your date/time, disable fast boot and power saver, disable "ask me about USB connection", disable all window animations, set 2 minute screen timeout (anything less is annoying), disable vibration feedback for UI.
WC v1.5 UPDATE: All of this is now done for you, thanks to my apk-level customization. You're welcome!!
CPU: Max = 768Mhz, Min = 122Mhz. Gov = Scary. This will give you excellent balance between performance and battery life.
WC v1.5 UPDATE: This is also done for you! I now set the min. CPU at 600Mhz. However, I still leave the choice of scheduler up to you. I like sio and noop... but that's just me, what do I know?
Link2SD: I use ext2 (for various reasons... performance, mostly), but if your fs is ext4, that's cool too. Set the default location to External. I do *NOT* recommend enabling the auto-link feature, as this will consume a good 9MB of RAM.
Launcher Settings: (Tweak these as you see fit. Most changes here are cosmetic, but some are performance-related. Take the time go go through each setting; you'll get more out of your phone.)
OS Settings (Reprise): WildChild sets non-Market app installation and Mock Locations to enabled by default. Fast Boot is set to disabled. Hugely convenient.

Thanks Sander.
I should say, it's not just a "theme" but a lot of the APKs themselves were modified, so the end result is a more consistent look. (e.g. the phone is blue, the camera is blue, contacts, Market, etc.)
I'll look into WidgetLocker and keep you posted. Stay tuned!

Good question.
If you see my "First Boot" section, I recommend setting the CPU to 122-768Mhz, Governor = Scary, and Scheduler = sio.
This combo gives, objectively, the best results for me (and it should be for you, too, since we're using the same hardware). I stuck with Smartass+noop for the longest time, but was unhappy with battery life. This new combo is definitely better, but I won't give values because it all depends on your usage.
A rough guideline is that it runs (for me) about a day and a half of normal usage (talk, text, surfing, streaming vids, etc.) Your mileage may vary.
At a little over 100 MB, though, I suggest grabbing WildChild LITE and giving it a try. Report your findings back here.
p.s. Here's a great reference as to the workings of CPU govs/scheds. You'll see that the Scary gov was designed with battery life from the ground-up.

If you were using a Sense-based Gingerbread ROM and your phone is S-ON, then the answer is almost certainly yes. Simply restore both your APKs and your data, and all should be well.
If you're S-OFF and performed some funky low-level mods on your phone, then all bets are off. My best advice here would simply be to try it and see. Since you've already got backups, I don't see the problem in trying. Report your findings back here for others to see/learn.
Thanks,

Haha... yes, I set that ring on fire... the phone is named WiLDFiRE, after all!
And, sticking with that theme, I do in fact have a burning animation on bootup. Download it and check it out. That is also custom-coloured by me (I didn't create the animation itself, but I tinted it red to give it a soothing firey look. I love it and I hope you do, too. )
I'm in the middle of grabbing some more screenshots and that will be one of them.

I did tried it already the rom that i used to have is "EQDKPv4.9 multi deodexed"
and all the data is restored now and now am restoring the sd-ext partition... and i saw someone asking about the arabic language it does exist but the problem with it is that the letters are seperated not connected which is hard to read it but i believe there is a thread somewhere here in the xda forum that help you fix that issue
now after am having fun with your rom i have this issue with the accounts & sync that it doesn't work always force stop i believe you removed this option for increasing the ram and the internal space am i right ?
if so how can i enable this back because i always backup my contacts to google and would like to do facebook sync so i can get the profile pictures of my friends to the phone contact list...
cheers man nice rom

----------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone.
This is a notice to everyone that BrassDroid is being discontinued. We had a lot of fun doing it and we have learned a lot about the Android system.
However we are currently working on a few other projects including some games for android and maybe, before long, iPhone that is taking up the majority of our time.
When JellyBean 4.2 was released we felt there was only little we could do to improve the ROM... Maybe add the quick link bar at the top (as well as leaving Google's extra Notification area), we were also considering implementing the dual screen from the S3 and maybe an optional unity like menu that could be swiped from the left side (Think that may also on the S3). But as mentioned before, we just don't have the time these days. :crying:
We'd like to thank everyone who helped us through this immense learning curve. We were complete noobs to the programming scene (building a website was our limit) when we started this and cannot thank you all enough for being guinea pigs We have really enjoyed doing this project and appreciate the time you've spent testing our ROM's (especially our friends across the pond who were willing to try our blind built LTE ones).
Once again thank you to everyone who helped us and tested for us, we couldn't have done it without you
Maybe our paths will cross again soon
-----------------------------------------------------------
We have recently found ourselves being caught up in numerous projects and are not quite able to keep up the regular updates as you may have noticed. We just want to take this opportunity to say that they will likely become slightly farther apart. I'd like to think that at the most they will be every two weeks. Hopefully more regular though to keep in-line with the current CM changes (however we are slowly building our own ROM from the AOSP that we hope to use instead of CM... however this is a long time away yet)
We'd like thank everyone for their support during the development of this ROM and hope you continue to enjoy it (If you have )
A BrassFeet ROM for Galaxy Nexus.
Here we have BrassDroid, a collaboration between PjFlo and DeeToTheVee.
This comes in two flavours. A modable CM10 kang and a clean, smooth AOSP build.
These are compiled with the brilliant and energy effecient, Trinity Kernel by, Morfic.
I have found this to be a great combination of power and battery life.
This rom also includes a few build.prop tweaks aswell and some shaven fat.
Stable CM10 Source
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Trebuchet.
Ability to move clock to the centre. (Temporarily removed - This is due to notification clashing with the clock)
NavBar mods, Menu, Search etc.
Extra browser controls.
Improved scrolling.
Improved dithering.
Google apps included!
Added smart stay app for keeping the screen on when looking at it (Disabled by default)
All new Android 4.2 features!
New Android camera with fully functional PhotoSphere!
New Android gesture keyboard (YOU NEED TO ENABLE THIS YOURSELF!!!!)
Go to settings - language and input and set the keyboard to Android Keyboard. (NOT THE AOSP ONE!!)
BrassDroid RC3 - 06/11/2012
PLEASE READ!!!!
THERE WILL BE A PERIOD ON FIRST BOOT WHERE THE PHONE WILL RESTART AND ON SECOND BOOT ATTEMPT THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK. THE SCREEN GOING BLACK IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BOOTANIMATION DOES NOT RUN LONG ENOUGH. BE PATIENT IT WILL BOOT!
WE WILL MAKE A NEW ONE BEFORE LONG BUT WE'RE NOT VISUAL DESIGNERS SO DON'T EXPECT TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
We strongly recommend a full wipe before installing this update as it will be replacing the camera app. It requires the Gallery2 apk to be removed so that GalleryGoogle can be installed. (Although I did a dirty flash and all was fine, DeeToTheVee recommended a wipe)
If you are comfortable with doing this manually then a dirty flash should be fine. If you're unsure then just do a wipe and then install the new update.

[ROM][CM10]BrassDroid, Trinity, JB_4.1.1[Clean][Fast][Power Saver]
Changelog:
RC3 06/11/2012
Latest feature listing (kind of a changelog but not quite)
Disabled centre clock for now as there has been some issues compiling with the latest source. It will hopefully be back though - main issue is that notifications are overlapping the time and this looks pretty ugly so... we'll see.
Disabled our default notification colour due to some reported issues, once again will be back soon.
Profiles added again (will, in final build, be disabled by default though)
Status bar power widget now has with most common widgets
Nav bar mods:
Ability to add and remove buttons from the navbar
(height adjustment will come in final build)
New stopwatch and countdown added to desk clock
Enabled development by default and some options within it
loads of the other general CM additions - far too many to name all of them
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Disabled and removed CM updater to stop any updates to a CM build. We will remove all references to any Cyanogen features for stable. (Not to discredit them of course, just to stop conflicts)
Almost latest gapps. (Some like Chrome and Earth will need to be installed manually by you)

Sorry, I think a mod must have edited my post, as you can see the double posts are time stamped 8.00pm
However my account forces me to wait five minutes between posts.. could a mod sort this out please!?
I am currently building the toro and toroplus versions of this ROM.
Not having access to either of these devices I am doing this blind.
If someone is willing to test the builds for me please drop a PM.
Thanks PjFlo.
Very Nice
Flashed the new build today and it's very stable. Trinity works well with it, I'll PM you about collaboration if you like?
Thank you for taking the time to comment
Seems a good combo. I will try tonight. Would you consider adding manual mods? I have in mind navigation bar mods as it is the only feature remained worthy to be implemented.
I change ROM too often.

Thanks for your comment. We are currently looking through gerrit for worthy cherry picks and considering some of our own mods.
All suggestions are welcome, we aim to make a ROM 'the people' want
Thanks, PJflo.

Yep, camera force closes when switching to video recording.
Can someone post me a link to this EOS gapps please? Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, I found these: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
Are these the latest for JB?
Google Now does not pick anything for me it just looks like its' searching but does nothing. Is that because of gapps? I flashed the eos ones from 26072012.

Hi, I don't seem to be able to replicate this error with Gnow, I use the eos 22072012 versions.
Check your app draw, if you see an app called 'search' go into its app settings and disable it, then try using Gnow again..
Thats all I can suggest other than trying another Gapps.
Let us know if this helps! Pjflo.
A fix for the video camera is on the way
Oh a new Trinity Combo. Does my search for a new Rom come me to an end? Hope so thanks for this will dl now.

Thanks. Looking forward to the video camera fix. I fixed Google now by flashing the non-eos gapps from goo.im dated 26072012. It works perfectly fine now. So you will be merging CM nightlies weekly or so? At the moment there are not so many bugs so I prefer to stay on this. Thanks again for a great ROM. Oh yes there is actually another bug, just cosmetic, enabling airplane mode still shows the signal bars. Not so critical though.
Thanks for getting back, Yes the plan was to do weekly merges, however this will be dependent on the current state of CM10. So it may vary.
The next build will correct the status bar bug as well as video cam, and bring a few extra cherry-picks.
Also expect a few goodies from us to.
Hope this answers your questions.
PJflo.
Nobody has brought navigation bar modification feature yet. Glad to see you guys importing it, if you think the same.

Miui
v5
First Unofficial Beta Release of Miui v5 for the Verizon HTC One.
This was made using the Miui patchrom method, with Aosp/CM source code.
This first release, includes my Aosp Motion Gesture based nuk3rn3l.
I have also included WSM Tools, which is the miui based Xposed equivalent.
Along with the Wake Gesture Module.
Features:

Live icons:Email, Weather, Data Usage and Calendar icons push information to the launcher. Check the current weather, number of pending emails, and remaining data on yourcarrier plan without clicking into any application.
Beautiful weather icons: Different icon graphics for different weather conditions.
MiSpace added features: Launched 6 months ago, MiSpace breaks free from the traditional grid layout. Now, it continues to break these boundaries by adding in new features. Allocate icons where you want in the ‘space’ and assign and place additional icons where needed. Even add third party widgets in to your ‘space’. MiSpace is unique to MIUI, unlike any other ROMs out there.
Messaging now comes with a slew of new functions: Users can utilize functions such as timed messaging and pin message conversations to ensure they remain on top.
Find and call your contacts quicker: New tabs and format in the Phone and Contacts application allow users to quickly find and dial contacts.
Clock, Calendar and Compass Refreshed look: Revamped images and modifications provide a totally new experience.
[*]Camera application now comes with simple or professional mode: Users have the choice of a hassle-free, simple point-and-shoot mode or professional mode with more new features that ensures you capture captivating pictures.
Music apps more visually appealing: MIUI ensures its ROM continues to be visually appealing even when listening to music. ‘Now playing’ feature displays album cover in full screen.
Weather now comes with weather trends: Now users can see the weather forecast’s high and low trends for the next 5 days.
Mi Wallpaper: Launching a new category in the wall paper section, MIUI users will soon see more creative live wallpapers to download and enjoy.
The best MIUI ROM developed so far, MIUI V5 helps user fully utilize the Android based phone and ultimately, redefine Android. MIUI will continue to bring weekly updates to the ROM to fix bugs and improvements. Note, as this is a beta version it may be still a bit buggy.
Known Issues:
GPS:
You must first get a lock on a Sense based rom before flashing, to gain a lock in Miui.
Mms:
The miui message app will not send/receive Mms.
Use the included Vzw Messaging for Mms functionality.
Network/4G:
You will need to switch to Global mode or Cdma/Evdo/LTE mode in network settings after each reboot for 4G.
As it defaults to CDMA(3G/1x) upon reboot.
Download MIUI

Thanks so much for this santod! How would you compare the battery life on this to Liquid and NuSense?
Oh, and I dropped some coffee money for you in your Paypal

I'd say it's about on par with Liquid as far as battery goes.
It's tough to say for sure though, as I haven't ran one build long enough to really get a good gauge on that yet.
As I kept rebuilding about once a day while working on it.
I should have a better idea in a couple of days and will always be looking to improve on it, if possible.
Thank you very very much for your contribution!
It's greatly appreciated. :good:
Daaaannng! You did it!.... O__O

The Security Icon on the home page.
Not in settings.
Edited post 2 to specify better.
As with many ROMs these days, it's taking a very long time to flash. TWRP 2.8.0.2, system reset only for wipe. Is that expected?
Looking forward to seeing MIUI again... haven't seen it since the Thunderbolt. :victory:

I honestly had that issue with the latest twrp.
I am back on 2.7.x.x I forget exactly which.
I think the last 2.7.x.x from mdmower.
It's way faster and I have no issues with it at all.
This rom flashes really fast actually.
(just checked, it's his 2.7.1.2 actually.)

My word, I saw quite the contrary. Not even a full minute to install (using openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-m7wlv).

It finally completed flashing. Took a good 15 minutes or more. Maybe I'll roll back to MDMower's last 2.7.x.x.

WOW !! 0__0
What is up with that?
Yeah it flashed in less then a minute for me as well.
Maybe I need to make us a new twrp build compiled with a much better kernel.

I'm pleased with myself for not getting impatient and pulling the plug on it. Now I'm trying to remember how the MIUI UI (that's sort of like saying E I E I O) works.
For instance, I forgot to tell Play Store not to put app icons on the home pages. If I drag the app icon up to the trash, it wants to uninstall the app. I just want to get rid of the icon. How do you do that?
You don't get rid of icons on the home screen with miui since there is no app drawer. There used to be ways to bring it back though but it isn't a legit app drawer. I find this to be a huge hindrance with the miui os.
Been waiting a long time for this ROM.
Thank you so much! Noted issues are pretty minor and aren't that big of an issue.
Will give it a test run for the next few days and see how it goes.

You would have to use a thrid party app like this one: LINK
Or a completely different launcher.
Hope that helps.
Like Disconnecktie said, Miui doesn't have an app drawer.
There is also an app for that if you wanted to add one: LINK
Thanks again for this Santod you do good work
