I need to bring my phone in to the Sprint store for a 4G issue. I have bad keys. So as the title says, how do you unroot? Do I just flash the stock PC36IMG.zip?
I'm running Netanarchy's 4.1.9 w/ BFS on Stock ROM. Do I need to reflash the stock HTC kernel before unrooting?

[Q] How to unroot from 2.2
You should also run the unrevoked nand-on tool located here: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
scroll down to the link the latest ''S-ON'' tool
I've searched, but it seems a bit unclear.
I'm rooted w/CM7 installed. I believe I have s-off (how can I verify?) and I need to get everything back to factory. Would prefer not to have to use a hex editor.
Sorry in advance, but thanks in advance.

You can verify it by turning off the phone and hold vol down + Power. On the top it should either say S-off or S-on. As for going back to stock it matters what method of prem rooting you did. I know you only need to hex edit if you used Unforgivens method, for rage I don't even know how. As for Gfree method, I was told that it should be fine to flash the PC10IMG.ZIp without fail. Sorry if am not any help
Sent from my HTC Desire Z/G2 using XDA Premium App
Ok, I have s-off and I believe I did it via gfree. Does flashing PC10IMG.zip change it back to s-on?
EDIT - Looks like I flash the zip, and then follow the steps here:

Actually, another question. I have my nandroid from right after I rooted it. So it's stock/rooted/cwm.
Can I nandroid back to it and then simply flash PC10IMG.zip to it?
** EDIT **
Restored Nandroid and then flashed the update. Then I used the gfree method from the link a few above to gain temp root and restore my partition. Completely back to stock and locked back to T-Mo.
God, I love Android.
I want to unroot my phone so i can update to the gingerbread OTA and i need the latest PC36IMG.zip. anyone know where i can find one or post a link for me? Thanks in advance, really looking forward to updating.
why are you going to unroot your device when they have already posted the odexed and deodexed versions of the Rom
Not to mention, the bootloader is locked in the OTA, so do NOT unroot
Unrooting doesn't get rid of S-Off so as long as you have S-Off and you flash the OTA you can always save yourself
thanks, saved me from unrooting, i already downloaded unrevoked s-on and s-off tool but luckily you replied before i used it. I know, im a noob. im new to this stuff ^__^ but before i download the rom, whats the difference between odexed and de-odexed?
What do I have to do in order to use ROM Manager? It's saying I need root.... but I thought Alpharev is root....
AlphaRevX was software to turn S-Off on the phone. There are several guides posted to show you how to root the phone. First off you'll need to install a recovery if you didn't. Then you can install the superuser.zip located in several guides to give you root access.

Help please! Need to ROOT HTC Desire HD with firmware 2.50.405.2. The downgrade guides are only for 2' 3.x but not 2.5.x. is there any way that I can downgrade my firmware version or root my phone? I so badly want to do it. Thanks.
Take a look at the Android Development section and you will find this guide and also this guide.
My advice would be to read through it thoroughly and only once you understand what you need to do should you go ahead and flash the ROM.

But i dont know how to flash the font onto my device or change the font. Are there any guides for htc desire hd?
I have root and S-OFF but missing su after 2.50.405.2 OTA upgrade, any who can help to get su back?
I don't think you have root already after the OTA Update.
You have to downgrade or reroot your Device. Then you can flash this Stock rooted ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059563
SU is available on the Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.noshufou.android.su
@Audiavant - the latest OTA does remove the Root that you previously had as Command_HDX has said. You've gotta follow the downgrade guides in the links I posted above.
