Does Any one know if its possible to change the signal bars from 6 to 4 like in the other galaxy s models.....i think the 4 bars looks way better than 6....thank you.
Yes its possible. The phone reports more than those four steps so you can just have it show four bars full for 5 and 6 too, or any other combo you'd like. The images for them are in the framework-res.apk I believe. Not sure anyone wil do that for you until official froyo though...try it yourself if your adventurous.

The Elegant Steel port that I did for 2.1 has only 4 signal bars. When 2.2 is officially released I will port it to that as well.

Certainly, inside of any theme .zip is a file called framework-res.apk. You can rename the .apk to .zip and open it in any compression tool, such as 7zip or WinRAR. If you would like, you can decompress and unpack this to a folder for ease of use. There are tons of guides on XDA that will help you with this, I would suggest taking a look at some of the guides made by Dreamsforgotten as they are incredibly detailed, and you can find links to them by looking at the sticky wiki thread. Once you get inside of the framework-res.apk, you will see a folder called "res" and inside of that, another folder called "drawable-hdpi". This is the heart of the framework, and the majority of the images that you see on your phone are contained within. The status bar signal icons are named something like "stat_sys_signal..." etc. Just open em up and edit them to your liking, or grab some images from somewhere else to replace them. Hope this helps, feel free to pm me if you need any more help!

Yup no problem. There are multiple different sets of signal bars, on for roaming, 1x etc. Your best bet would be to replace them all, unless you can discern which is which. Look for this in the name "_r_", and if they have this then those are for roaming icons. All others should just be the normal signal.

Nice, welcome to the world of theming Just an FYI, you may have to change some things again when the official froyo release comes out, there is quite a difference between all three of the leaks, leading me to believe the OTA will be different as well. Glad it worked for you, feel free to ask away someone around here will be happy to help!

I have searched everywhere trying to find a way to change the signal bars. I want either the four bars like the dinc or the five bars that show up before they chnge to six. I tried metamorph but it wasn't working right for me. i just really hate the six bar look. I'm currently on mikfroyo 4.3 and really like everything about the rom and only want to change the signal bars everything else is perfect.
Try CM7? I am running it and I have a 4 bar signal icon...

You'll have to edit some PNGs in your framework. Although its not really 4 bars, it will just appear that way.
You can find the zip of your rom that you flashed, mikfroyo. Open it with WinRAR, or something similiar. Look in /system/framework/ for com.htc.resources.apk. Extract that to somewhere you will remember. Then open up that framework file with the same program you used above and look for drawable-hdpi. Look for the cmda radio signal pngs and swap in the ones you want. If you want to only use 4, then you can use the same signal for a few. Then put that drawable-hdpi folder back in the /system/framework directory from your ..resources.apk. This will overwrite the old one. Then push it with ADB. If you're not familiar there are a bunch of guides on xda here.
I have seen a couple themes (one of which I made a while back) for sense using the gingerbread status bar icons and those themes usually do the edit mentioned above to make it appear as 4 bars even though it is reporting more. I can easily whip this up for you if you need help, I just need to know exactly which ROM you are using.
Thanks for the replies. I have tried cm7 and I just can't get used to the stock android look. I just really like sense and the mikfroyo roms.
I am on mikfoyo v4.30. It would be awesome if you could help me out with that. I want to learn how to do the editing but I need to find a way to do it with my macbook.
How many does it have now and what color are they?
it has six bars and they are green
Im not running that ROM so I cant test the colors or look of it compared to the rest of the ROM but here is my best shot at it. Just flash that zip from the recovery screen and always make a nandroid backup first.

I know next to nothing about themes, but I am doing my best to make a grey/black theme for personal use by mixing and matching pieces from Erebos (using as base), frost, and Bionix while also mixing in black dialer and phone from Emotionless Beast.
The only thing I am not happy yet is the battery. I would like a grey honeycomb battery with %, or circle battery with % (for regular and charging). This needs to go on a black background. I was able to do a test run using the blue honeycomb battery in Midnight theme, so I am pretty sure I can copy the pngs from one zip to another, so the rest of the framework doesn't matter.
Does anyone know of a battery mod or rom that has this battery that I can use to copy the pngs?

You can just edit all the blue battery icons from honeycomb in photoshop and change them to gray.

Very true. Was just hoping to save the time of editing the ~200 images if somebody knew of a rom or theme that already had the grey circle or honeycomb battery (photo editing is not my strongest suit). Doesn't really matter where it's from, as this is just a personal use theme.
With all the themes out there, I had hoped there would be one with it already made that someone could point me to. Tried searching and came close a few times, but nothing just right.

I'm using the Crystal theme for CM7 and It's perfect. Only thing I want to add is a battery % of somewhat of the same color. I know I can use the built in CM settings % but I first wanted to try to get an actual icon on there.
Things I've tried:
Speedometer gauge- all that did was reset the theme to stock, although the battery meter did work
Pulling .png's from another similarly colored theme- only ones I could find were TW themes and besides renaming over 100 files, there's no way to drag and drop them over to the CM theme.
Any other tips outside of editing xml files? Which I don't know how to do.
Edit, the UOT kitchen would have worked great if the theme had all 100 battery .png images. oh well.
Just swap out pngs with a theme you like then re-sign the apk. Legend-X is good and I swapped out Bonsai circles in it.

I don't even know how to sign an apk Trying to figure it out now.
Yea, I'm really not good with this stuff until I get it done 1 time. I can't figure it out. Oh well.
Grab Legend-x, or another theme with 100 battery images.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yea I will. I think that's my only option if I want that color and a very thorough, heavily modified theme.
Google CM7 themes. There is a thread that pops up with 300 themes. You just click on each title to see a screenshot and how to download.

I have about 25 on my phone now. For some reason I like the crystal because it looks a little like the blue glass theme for our epics on 2.2 that I used forever ago. I'm going to use the legend-x though, I think.

Update: 3/13/13 More thanks go out to the people that were able to get this done. I was able to get a flashable zip with more of bleached45's images working.
I know many people (including myself) are missing the black status bar mod from ICS. After a collaborating with other people I was able to figure something out.
By the way you don't need my permission to do anything with this zip (haha). All I ask is that you please thank me (always wanted to be thanked) and give me any critical advice to theming you have (trying to learn the right way).
To Install: (You must be on ZVB Deodexed to use!)
1.Flash the attached zip
2.Wipe cache and dalvik
3.Reboot
3.Win MVP
I'm responsible for nothing that happens to your phone (always wanted to say that). If your qualcomm enhanced location service force closes, Wipe your cache between the reboot. Otherwise just go to settings/wireless networks/more.../mobile networks/connections optimizer. Accept the terms and uncheck the box. The service is annoying anyway.
Issues:
The edit quick toggle button looks kind of weird :-/
There is a very small line inbetween the quick toggles and the date bar
Thank These People!
AdriVelasquez for the Deodexed Rom
B-Reezy for our original LG port of the black mod
bleached45 - Original theme creater and source of the files, and the flashable zip base
Lrod0175 - Provided the status bar with the cool blue bottom and was very helpful with feedback

Re: [MOD][JellyBean] Black Status Bar (Work-In-Progress)
Cool, I thanked you by the way
Edit: the reason you have the white edges is because that's a .9 image and you cannot color the whole image, you have to color the image inside the dots or lines in the edges, those are the ones that allow the image to stretch. You also need to decompile the app to see the points and lines of the .9 images other wise they will show as a regular PNG.

Hey, I have a JB version out for the ATT variant, I believe you can get the files out of my mod and copy them into yours.
I would offer more help but have class in a few minutes and don't have my computer.
I recompiled the .9.pngs and I believe the file names are the same.
What the files are called I don't remember off the top of my head.
Just copy/paste any pure black images from my mod and the bottom slider (the two pngs with the 3 horizontal bars) and the quick settings edit buttons.
It is mostly just eyeballing what file looks like what part of the UI.
I can't promise it will work, but it should.
HERE is my thread. All 4 JB versions have the same image files, so it shouldn't matter which one you grab.

Thank you for everything. I used your indi_noti_btn_edit_normal.9 and indi_noti_btn_edit_pressed.9 files in drawable-xhdpi and it appears they are not stretched the same for our phones. I attached a screen. I'm reading how to edit .9 pngs but I haven't had any luck. If you could drop a few words of wisdom I would appreciate it. Specifically, I see the original dots of the png. I'm assuming I erase those in the photo editor and resize the image, then use draw9patch and put new dots in the same place? And if I see a black border on the side of the grey image, can I assume they stretched the entire side of the png? Thanks for everything and sorry to take your time from school, I'm in school as well.
