Hi,
Have tried the search function but with no joy - apologies if a solution has already been found to this.
I appear to have somehow fully bricked my desire.
Backstory:
Recently performed S-OFF, installed the N1 table, installed Clockwork Recovery v2.5.1.2 and DeFrost 6.0d. Phone was fully functioning and running like a dream minus a few problems with slow file transfers over USB.
Just saw that DeFrost 6.0i had been released so decided to do a nandroid backup before installing the ROM and this is where my problems started. The nandroid backup finished just fine but when I rebooted the phone I got stuck on the boot animation. Restarted phone in recovery intending to flash the backup I'd just created and suddenly my SD card refuses to mount in recovery, so now I can't access anything to do a restore from. Argh.
Anyone have any ideas?

your device is far from fully bricked looks like a corrupt sd card imo
Should have checked the Clockwork Recovery Mod 2.5.1.2 thread, seems to be a problem with that. Need to fix the misc partition using fastboot. Command should be "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" just don't do what I did and format the SD card in your laptop first
EDIT: Just done the fix and I'm working again. Sorry for the pointless thread!

Hi, I'm really hoping someone can help me. I've spent the last hour searching on here and although I've found lots of posts addressing similar issues to mine, I've not managed to solve it.
Before things went wrong I was running MoDaCo r5 without any issues. A2SD+ with an ext3 partition on the SD card (but no dalvik to sd). ClockworkMod recovery.
Decided to flash CyanogenMod 6.1.0 RC1 using ROM Manager. Downloaded it to the SD along with the Google apps, backed up my current ROM, wiped cache and data, installed CM... phone booted but then stuck on the CM boot screen for about 10 minutes. Did battery pull, rebooted, same thing. Tried several times more, no luck.
So booted into recovery and tried to restore my previous ROM. It goes through all the usual stuff then says its finished. Reboot. Stuck on the pink circle loading screen.
Wiped data, wiped cache, tried factory reset, clear storage.... Just gets stuck on the pink circle screen every time I reboot.
One thing I noticed - when I first boot into recovery (hboot screen) it briefly flashes up something about SD...Loading... No image (its too quick to read it all). Not sure if that means anything.
Also, at some point (I'm afraid I can't remember exactly when, but it was while I was doing something in recovery) it said something about 'not enough space on device', or something like that.
Sorry that's all a bit muddled - I thought I was more competent at all this stuff than I clearly am! PLEASE can someone help walk me through what I need to do to get things working again.
(I can't use adb with my computer - got into all sorts of problems trying to install/use it in the past, so if there's a solution that doesn't involve that it would be great. I have access to a Linux machine if that helps.)
UPDATE: After trying everything I could think of, I decided to try the nuclear option - Backed up everything on my SD card to my computer, then formatted it, copied the CM 6.1 zip back onto the SD and installed it, and it booted fine. Maybe had something to do with there not being enough space on the SD card? Does the ROM get unzipped onto the SD card during installation? If so I guess that could have been the sticking point as I only had about 250MB free!
Hi,
coming from an old Sense-based Modaco i decided to give my good ole Desire a little overhaul this weekend.
So i did:
applied Alpharev's S-Off
upgraded to 0.93.1000 HBOOT with N1 table
flashed a new radio (32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27)
upgraded to AmonRa's 2.0.0 recovery via unrevoked3
Then i get rid of the Sense Rom and flashed CM6.1.1 plus DT A2SD script
So far so good, i did several nandroid backups and restores with AmonRA successfully. All was running smooth and sexy...
During watching TV with wifey i was bored and did another backup directly from ROM Mananger with CWM 2.5.0.7, just to be extra-safe, i thought!
After backup was finished i rebooted into CM 6.1.1 and noticed that my widgets arent loaded and all apps on SD were missing.
A reboot into AmonRA recovery and try to restore my last Nandroid backup : -> "E: cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1...(No such file or directory)"
Also when booting into CM 6.1.1 all my filemanagers do not show any SD storage anymore.
Tried 4 different SD cards now.
What went wrong and most importantly, how do i get my Desire back to full life??
TIA, hope someone can help me...
Edit with some additional info:
- SD card is still fully readable in my Windows PC
- when i boot up the (half, w/o all my A2SD apps) CM 6.1.1, my network operator is found but i am not booked into the network
- device is still USB recognized in bootloader and fastboot, but not in recovery and when ROM is booted up anymore
To summarize:
everything worked fine incl. Nandroid backups/restores with AmonRa until i made a simple backup with Clockwork Mod 2.5.0.7
Did you try this one?
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
It solved the problems for me.
Yay! You made my day, only one sleepless night
I skipped almost everything of the steps and just entered fastboot with 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' .
This fixed it all w/o the need to re-root and fixing the misc partition.
Just a restore of my CM 6.1.1 was needed and everything works like before again.
Muchas gracias again, i love this community!
Still i am wondering why a simple backup with CWM could cause this...
Edit: one problem is left -> USB is not started when the ROM is up and I plugin an USB cable (just nothing happens)? What could be the reason for this? Make SD card management somehow annoying (booting into recovery to mount it for PC)
Edit 2:
All is fixed now, wiping Dalvik and Cache resolved the remaining USB issue!
Congratulation

Same problem as yours. Same cause I think.
Applied same solution. Got OK. But problem unsolved. Packing to send it to HTC...
To fix it entirely I had to apply the update.zip for fixing the misc-partition as well.
Try it 1st, its a matter of 2 minutes
Okay, so I tried to a nandroid backup yesterday and I normally get 5-6 lines of dots or pogress. Today, however, It kept going and going and wouldn't end. I pulled the battery after about a half hour and no problems. Using Amon 2.3 on stock deodexed GB rom.
WHen I check the SD card nanroid folder, i see the data.img is 0 bytes. It seems it had issues writing to it or reading from the /data on the phone itself.
I fixed it doing the below:
I restored to a backup I made a day earlier. Installed the updated apps, rebooted into Recovery, ran the backup again to success this time. Almost sounds like a problem with read permissions to the /data partition on the phone side or some item in /data was could not be read and it just tried, tried and tried again . However, if it was read permissions than I shouldn't have been able to boot my phone.
Using Amon RA, stock GB rom leaked deodexed, not the Tmartin version.
If it is worth anything, I did use quickboot to get into Recovery the first time when the backing up the /data partitiion issue started. And all subseqeunt tries afterwards I used the power off +Vol down to get into Recovery and still didn't work. Until I wiped and restored the backup.
Got it working now.
Curious as to if anyone has any idea's without having to do the wipe, restore, then backup??
Hello. My HTC Desire, that was rooted and flashed to a LeeDroid ROM back in July, just stopped working today. I was listening to music earlier today when all of a sudden it stopped. I took a look at my phone and it says "Unable to play file" or "File not supported"
My phone restarted and it was just stuck in a boot loop. I tried going into recovery but everytime I got there, it restarts again. I was out of options so I went to recovery and erased data and then went and tried to flash a new ROM (CM7). It installs but again it gets stuck in a bootloop.
Any ideas what's wrong?
How is your sd card partitioned? I had the same problem when my 8gb sandisk was damaged. It would still work as an external fat partiton, but forget about using it as an extention to the internal storage.
It has happened to me too, just as you described.
I was able to revert to some old nandroid backup of leedroid 3.0.8.2
Any new rom results in reboots, or something doesnt load completely and im stuck on the unlock screen.
I suspected the SD card but it wasnt it... Replaced and same result
I now suspect the internal nand mem (flash) but couldnt find a way to test it...
If anyone knows the source or solution to this problem please post it
Thanka
Hey, I think I fixed it.
I took out my SD Card, and in my computer, I formatted it (quick format). I put in another rom's zip file in there (I used Cyanogen Mod).
I booted into recovery, went to install zip from SD Card, chose the CM zip, installed it. After installing, while in recovery, I went back and selected clear data and memory (something along those lines). That will remove everything currently on your phone.
From there, I rebooted and everything seems to be working okay.
What if you try some other mod?
Something with sense 3.5 for example ?

go for it. But I think the key here is that in recovery, after installing your rom, you need to clear the memory.
Or try doing that first before installing a new rom
Yes, after flashing a ROM do a FULL wipe.. and everything will be okay.... you can trust me! after all you're taking advice from a drunk man!
Hey all,
Recently I tried to format my sd card from my phone to create extra space, as it was getting clogged up. I pressed unmount, expecting to mount it again as the format option was greyed out. However, I was unable to get it mounted again (ie my phone no longer recognises a sd card is inserted).
I tried to perform a factory rest to get my phone back to the settings it should have once had. However it didn't manage to do this properly and now its stuck at the htc logo screen. Formating or partitioning the sd card didnt do a thing.
I can get into the bootloader, and it was rooted beforehand. I was running the official Miui ROM. Now I am unable to start my phone normally, nor get into access my sd card.
Unfortunetly, I have had my phone for quiet a long time now so I doubt the warranty is still valid. I need help urgently.
Thanks in advance.
Try clearing cache and data and then install a new rom for example Jellytime r26.2.
if it dont work the first time try one more time. I had the same issue ones and had to install the rom twice before it worked.

Are you S-OFF? Can you get into recovery? through the bootloader? If so, just flash a new ROM through recovery.
How did you try to do a factory reset? If you can get into the bootloader, go to recovery if you have it. Then see if the sdcard is being recognized or not. If it is getting recognized, put the zip of any ROM on it and flash it after wiping like the guy above me said.
Post what your bootloader screen says here. Your phone is far from being bricked as far as I know.
RESOLVED
I've managed to resolve this issue. For the benefit of others I will explain what I did.
1)I went into fastboot mode and connected my phone to my pc (running windows 7). Using cmd I reflashed the recovery image.
2)Went into recovery and installed a custom ROM.
I hope this helps you as it really saved my life.
P.S Cheers for all the help guys, you've been amazing!

I formated and wiped all the data i could from the phone itself and the from recovery. Lucky you were right about me being far away from bricking it completely.
Since I firstly unmounted my sd card from my phone settings, it didnt get recognised at all. I couldnt mount it again. So i formatted it with windows, then in recovery made a backup image despite the phone being stuck in bootloop. That allowed me to finally access my sd card for some reason.
Then as you all suggested, i just needed to reflash everything, including recovery using fastboot.
Bit of a strange scenario really
Lesson learned ? :
1.) If youre going to start from scratch then start in Recovery;
2.) wipe all partitions (twice)
3.) enable USB drive and transfer new ROM to SD Root
4.) flash new ROM

hi lachy92, by formatted all the data, you mean wipe data/factory reset in the recovery? coz i have same problem with you, i tried to install new rom from the recovery, but the recovery always shows cant open sd card, installation aborted, can you help me pliz
