[Q] HTC Desire Apk Help - Parsing Error

Hi there.
I have a problem with my HTC Desire. I have downloaded an .apk file for it and also the Astro File Manager to install it. I installed astro file manager and went to the apk location. I clicked install but there is a problem. Every time I try to click install it comes up with the following message:
Parse Error
There is a problem parsing the package.
At first I thought the file is corrupt. I downloaded several other apks (same file) but nothing seemed to bypass the error. Please can anyone tell me what is wrong with it. I tried searching on google but nothing relevant came up with the search.
I have attached the file (apk) to this thread.

I've no problem to install it. BTW what android version do u use. I think this app is supported by Android 4.0+ (ics).

Hi There.
Thanks for replying, I have one problem, you were right, it doesn't work because it is version 2.3 and up and I have 2.2.2. But there is another problem, Minecraft doesn't work either and it is 2.1 and up. I really don't understand. Here are my phone specs:
Software Information:
Android Version: 2.2.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.15
And also here is the minecraft that doesn't work for me even when it says 2.1 and it is available on Google Play. But I don't want to buy it just because of credit card details and such.

But I don't want to buy it because I'm cheap and like to steal apps instead of supporting the developers who put time, effort and money into creating these apps for me.

Did I tell anyone to comment about what I said? No I did not. So why do you have to be the only one who is messed up? Hah, you have a rooted phone meaning you can get free items too so why don't you shut up and go play outside kid.. If you dont wanna do that at least do something useful and help people. This is a website for helping not for ignorant people such as yourself, so please find something better to do.
I don't want to give my credit card details and others because they are private and any good hacker can bypass Android's security and enter the website and steal everything...I see that you don't know what happened to Sony last year do you?

Hey junior calm down... Bortak is very helpful but warez? C'mon! A lot of effort been put to development of these apk... as you saying about security on android you did first step how to help hackers you are afraid of... Having root and downloading dodgy apk from untrusted sites... Well done...
Now to the point of your question... your system needs to be updated or you need to download correct version of your apk...

hey juz check if ur sd is protected with password or something. and its the reason y its showing... if sd is protected under developer options & phone is rooted it occurs. check that out n try and tht prob will be solved..it worked for me. check that out n reply.

juz helping out man..as i came across that,,

I can't use my captivate as modem!!! Help!!!

Hi guys. I have a problem with this device: I would like to use this device as a modem (I live in Italy, and I've am italian card), only that it is a mobile brand AT & T, and every time he tells me it needs a AT & T sim card...
Is there a solution? I'm forced to install a custom rom, or is there another way?

At the very least, I think you'll have to root and flash the tethering fix (found in the dev section). That should clear everything up and it shouldn't mess with your current rom.

Using as a hotspot
Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking?
If the phone doesn't get service with your sim card then you need to unlock it.
If the phone gets service/internet but you just can't tether then use foxfi. No root needed.

Root not required. If you have CWRM, you can simply flash the relevant zip file with the tethering fix.

My phone have not access to write on sd

Yea ok it shouldn't be a problem if don't understand that good English or can't speak that good...but you still have sto search for solutions and also in your language it should be possible...is your phone rooted?

You'll need to be rooted but search for "sdfix" on the Play Store.

HTC's file manager should be able to access and write things to your external sd card. Since the changes to how sd cards are handled in kitkat, Third party apps can only have write access over the folders that they create. So unless you root thats just the way it is.

What data do you want to write or what is it exactly that you are trying to do? Just to get an idea if there is a non-root solution.
I previously used ES file explorer on my rooted Galaxy S4 without a problem, but it wouldnt work properly on my non-rooted M8. Using the stock HT file manager app and so far its fine for what I want to do.

unlock loss

Hello to everyone. I just bought a new Captivate from Canada (rogers). I live in Greece, so the Canadian seller had to unlock the phone in order it to work with Greek networks. And it worked ok. Will I loose this unlock function if I make an upgrade to the phone with official or unofficial rom? In which cases I will lose this unlock function in order to be carefull with that? If I loose it will I be able to unlock it again by myself? Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for the quick correspont. Just one more question. When I will be rooting and flashing my glide, is it necessary to have my sim card inside it? Can I do all these without sim card inside and to put the sim when I will finished the root or install of the new rom?

Thank you so much guys!!! With your help I managed to root my phone and install cm11. But I have a serious problem now. I want to make efs backup and efs-pro doesn't work. (I have debug on)
version 1.9.12 freezes at the first initializing screen
version 2.1.80 and 2.1.73 at start tell me that:
YOUR DEVICE IS NOT PERM ROOTED!
THE APPLICATION WILL NOW EXIT
What I am doing wrong? I begin to scare that I will not be able to make this kind of backup...

1) open a terminal
2) type in su --> now you may need to give root permissions
3) type in tar zcvf /sdcard/efs-backup.tar.gz /efs
4) type in dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/efs-dd.img
5) connect your device to a PC and copy both the efs-backup.tar.gz and efs-dd.img to your PC
6) now you have a full backup of your efs and therefore your phone unlock state
Step 2 is essential you need root for this in order to work.
Normally you can see a change from a dollar $ sign to a hash # one after root has been achieved like this:
xxxxxx:/ $ > su (answering the request for root permissions with yes)
xxxxxx:/ # >
If you get trouble it would be helpful when you tell the exact the error messages etc..

When I first bought glide from Canada (Rogers) and open it in Greece, it had ofcourse Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). The strange then was that when I was using it, my local network in Greece was showing me on phone that 4G signal was enabled/on(???). Now that I have installed cm11, there is no 4G option. Finally, can glide run on 4G network or not?

I just bought Glide, yes i am on 4g with stock At&t ics

glide doesnt support 4g, original rom "fakes" it, it uses 3.5g

That's a disappointing notion, fake 4G. Is 3.5 any better than just 3? Or is it the same pretty much?

Hi everyone. I am new and I agree that I am complete noob in this field. I have never did any update to my stock vibe p1 ROM because it runs very smoothly and I never encountered a single issue like other users had. Now I want to just Root it but I don't want any upgrades( in terms of version update). I know that this question may have been answered earlier but all the listed method is so confusing. Can anyone please just put the step by step instruction on how to root my vibe p1 and please share the link of the necessary files in this thread. I am sorry for wasting your time but I need to root it to gain access to my network settings. Thanks in advance. :angel:

Try Kingo Root.
All you need is an laptop or pc, or you could try Kingo Root apk file.
Look on uncle Google for this app.
Good luck.

Now... write here what your system is, like what is written in: Settings/About phone/Device information/Build number.

Thanks for reply. That is the exact thing I meant when i called myself noob. My build is p1a_42_s137_151028_ROW. I did mentioned I got confused though I know this is not a new topic. I think the process (in the link) is for upgrades and what I want is just root because I never got a 100% satisfied user after any upgrades let it be via ota(starting with 30mb patch) or custom Row. My handset works perfectly fine. No lag no heating , no battery draining, etc. I want to root because I want to tweak network settings which is not possible with non rooted mode as SQL is not accessable. Sorry i was not able to provide whole info but I truly don't use blogs or social sites so I lack the idea.

Tell me one thing!
When you tried to root your phone with kingo root tool, did you activated USB Debugging option from developer section ?
If not, activate this option from developer option and try again.
To activate this option you must go to : Settings/About phone/Device information/Build number and press fast many times on it till developer tab is activated.
Go to Settings/Developer options and activate the option from there.
Write here what is going on.

Yes sir I did that via USB connect option. Did anyone had success with kingoroot? But they did not mention vibe p1 in their support list. Thanks for quick reply.

you are right the root for this device is not avialable by kingoroot.they r actually working on it , may be in future we will get it.

There is a bootloader lock on the phone. Applications is useless. The bootloader must first be unlocked, or root application must be installed on the rom. The best solution for you is to unlock the bootloader lock and install twrp. Please see the following page:

That entire process is for unlocking the bootloader? Let's say I have done that but how can I get rooted without updating my raw row?

Well I can only say that with my rom 288 the process was If you have already unlocked bootloader is using QFIL and selecting rawprogram_twrp.xml put supersu zip on your sd card boot into twrp recovery and install supersu zip.

It probably works with the qfil file of your same rom. You need to add and flash bootloader files into the same rom(data can be deleted). ROM version is not important for the bootloader file. If the process is successful, you can install twrp and supersu.zip
