With the tip and info from "pklee", I have been playing around with the Screen Density settings. Stock is 240... I have started from 190 working my way up to 220 and I found that the effects on the screen and use of the size really is nice. So.. I thought I would share.
2 Ways..

Navigate to /System
Mount R/W
Hold on build.prop
Scroll to "ro.sf.lcd_density=240"
Change to what number you want.

open up a text editor and look for "ro.sf.lcd_density=240" change the 240 to desired number and save
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop

It does make things look real nice. Sorry to see the Weather widget is not playing nice. Maybe go up 5 to 225 assuming you went to 220... it may balance out.
it messes up the htc mail widget too... the text goes outside the sheet of paper...
thanks for the how to!
Not much of a difference but definitely some. So far, everything is playing nice with density set at 220. Good find... or I should say, thanks for having balls to check it out for the rest of us.

Sadly, I reverted back to stock. 220 made icons in status bar look fuzzy. I'm noticing the same thing in OP's screnshots as well. Oh well, I'll play with it later to see if I can come up with something.

What you get with the crystal transparency
Heres a Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7awjCjb9Z0
1>The crystal edition aims at making ur screen transparent.More transparency means the more you can see ur panoramic background!!
2>You get completely transparent sliders.Top and down.
3>The slider is a unique creation and is ahead of all other transparent slider.I have not given up where other people have failed. The uniqueness is that when u slide on ur icons there is no pop up icon on the icon bar.So the slider gives the effect of being completely tranparent. But at the same time.Ur big icons in the centre do appear. So u dont loose out on ur icons!
4>All icons are transparent.I have used my favourite icon pack.
5>It works in all menues like contacts,music..
6>Clock is completely tranparent
7>And of course the good old panoramic background!!
I hope you enjoy it as much as i do!
FUTURE UPDATES INCLUDE:
1>A customized menu selector.
2>Have you ever noticed hw messy the screen gets when sliding? The earlier tab..the new icon ..the text..blah..
Thats all gona vanish soon.
HEre is a video of what im working on..You wont be dissapointed!

1.) home screen stays the way as it was before with the exception of glass clock. I have default smabergs wallpaper instead of the panoramic one. As soon as I click the home icon to slide it to the right the panoramic wallpapers shows up as it is supposed to
2.) Is there a way to make the background high quality. I made a picture from the wallpaper which is 1800x1440 but I somehow managed to make it pixelated
EDIT:
I am using Smabergs Touch X 6.1 ROM if that could be the reason.

One question..
1>When you move to another tab can you see th panoramic image?
or is it still not visible..??
OK, I have uninstalled everything and here is the file that was left behind.
I can see the panoramic picture as soon as I touch the slider (which is transparent as it should be) even if I am still on thehome screen. When I let go I get the usual home screen. all other tabs display the panoramic wallpaper correctly.
EDIT:
I have looked in your other thread and installed the nontransperent version. I like it better than crystal variant. The problem persist but I have found a temporary solution that works quite well - I set my home wallpaper to the first .png used in panoramic wallpaper.

hey Rotastrain,
I tried the cab to change the clock color but it was still black after I install it.... then I tried placing the files from the zip to windows but still nothing changes?? am I doing something wrong?
Having finally achieved root today (LOL - 24hrs after I received the device!), I tried to live with Touchwiz. However, one thing that was bothering me was the huge icons...having just come from an Atrix which has a 4" display and slightly higher-res screen, I wanted to use more screen real estate.
So I installed LCD Density.
Problem is, with TW, it's a complete was. The dumb "dots" that are normally at the bottom of the screen just "move up" and waste the extra space you've just won.
Solution - install a launcher such as Go Launcher. Results are that icons are smaller with more screen real estate. Magical!

Get LCD Density changer and set to 202 and save. Then hit menu key, settings and tick "Set as my system density"" - it will now be that every time you boot, so max sure it's a density that works....
or, edit the build.prop directly and change the density figure there. Save, reboot....voila! Both need root.
Try changing font to Helvetica S from display settings. It fits better than droid font on higher res

pictures do not look good at 200
240 is the correct dpi for HD at this screen resolution.
Was running 190 on my DHD looked better than 240. You need to edit build.prop once rooted for a permanent DPI change.
You can permanently chance the density using blade buddy, which it's free in the market.
Does anyone know why people are using 202?
I calculated the options by doing 800 * 240 and 480 * 240, then looking for numbers that left integers when devided by both. So the same number of sub pixels were used to make each pixel. Doing this gave me 200 not 202 as the best.

Is there any way to stop dialer looking screwed up when you change the lcd density?
It makes the keypad smaller and off centre.
Also in the camera app the buttons become misaligned.
I changed the screen dpi to 200 but now miui launcher looks weird.
So I'm using adw launcher with 1 extra row and looks nice, however I like the way miui launcher functions, like when I install a app it immediately puts it on desktop, just like the iphone.
Is there any launcher that acts like this and also allows to change number of rows and columns?
this is miui default, folders and other widgets look even weirder

You change the LCD density string in build.prop to set it permanently, or use lcd density changer from the market to do a temp change.
You can use a tool called "Absolute System" to edit the build.prop easily.

changing the lcd density has the same same effect as changing the resolution on your pc monitor. the phone will fit more on the display, so smaller icons and text etc...
any of this apps are changing the phone dialer too ?.....???
None of the sammy aps like dialer change with DPI changes, everything looks smaller and a bit crap, you will either need to find a ROM with DPI changes built in for that or there might be a theme you can use maybe.
My theme is built for changed DPI (shameless plug)

Yes, TouchWiz doesn't play nice with DPI changes. Use Go Contacts (includes dialer) for dialer - I haven't found a MULTI-DPI camera replacement yet tho.

Changing LCD Density
Changing the density changes the whole phone - if you set density to a lower number everything will be smaller on the screen and then you can fit more items on the screen. A higher number will make things bigger and fit less.
An unfortunate side effect of changing DPI however is that quite a lot of apps don't like it and will force close when you try and open them. For example, I just set mine to 200dpi and Angry Birds FC's.
The Market is another app that seems to be fairly DPI sensitive, however in my case right now running CM7 nightly the Market is working fine at 200dpi.
Another effect can also be black bands around apps that are not written to scale to screen DPI but rather with hard coded sizes for LDPI/MDPI/HDPI.
Cheers!

like I said in my first post, I'm using ADW and it works fine with it, I was looking for a miui like launcher, with all the apps on desk and no app drawer, probably doesn't exist.
While I was on miui rom I didn't encounter problems with the apps I used, this goes from games to standard apps, like the market.
Now I'm on stock and I saw the dialer is small, but no problem otherwise, when I get called the slider works fine.
the advantage is it makes the screen seem like higher res, browser fits a lot more content, holding it next to a sensation it looks the same, one difference I encountered on sensation is a game megajump, doesn't fill out the screen while on sgs2 with dpi change it still does.
it probably looks so good because of the samoled + subpixel density stuff
It makes it look extremely hi-res. I can't, no, WON'T have my phone at stock DPI, ever.

yes camera it's fine at 200 dpi in kg5
Does it bother you that apps and menus look too big and sometimes not sharp as it should be ? Do you want to see more details and do less scrolling on web browsers, emails, file explorers and more ? Do you use a third party launcher ? If the answer to all of the above is YES, this is for you!
Please read everything carefully before you begin!
Requirements:
- LG Optimus G Pro
- Root
- Xposed Framework (excellent for other stuff too!).
- App Settings
- Build Prop Editor (you can edit the build.prop with root file explorer too).
- Some Root File Explorer - ES File Explorer (my favorite).
!Warning!
This mod is generally safe, BUT it can harm you device and cause your device to bootloop or FC apps. I'm not responsible for any problem cause by my instructions!
!Warning 2!
You have to have a third party launcher like Nova/Apex/Next/Go etc (as default) before you begin the processes!
1. Root your LGOGP (voids your warranty).
2. Make a backup of the build.prop TO YOUR PC. You can find it in /System/ directory.
3. Install Xposed Framework following the instructions in the link - Xposed Framework
4. Install App Settings from the link and enable it in Xposed Modules - App Settings (don't forget to reboot).
5. Install Build Prop Editor
5. Open Build Prop Editor (don't forget to grant it root privilege) and look for "ro.sf.lcd_density" the property value should be "480". Change it to "360" or "320" (I found it most appropriate, but you can change it to what ever suit you). Save and reboot.
Known Issues:
I did some testing and found 2 major issues.
1. The Home Launcher Force Closing. For now I haven't found a fix (If you don't use the original launcher you're golden). EDIT: I Found a fix. Open App Setting and look for "Home" (come.lge.launcher2), set in its options "xlarge res" (no need to change anything else) and save.
2. Camera view gets messed. This is where Xposed and App Setting come to play. All you have to do is to open App Settings, look for "Camera" (com.lge.camera) and set in its options the DPI to "480" and save.

Been using the AppSettings for awhile, and found 2 problems
1. Apps seems to delay a bit longer to load, dunno if it's because it redraws or it's just feels longer because you can see first the big interface then small.
2. There is a gap of a few pixels between the StatusBar and the HomeScreen/Apps that have it. FullScreen apps works like a charm.
Hi Kriggs,
With my instructions there isn't noticeable gap as in your screen shoot, I haven't notice any lag as well.

Yeah, I should've said I'm still using the stock launcher, haven't been able to change the "Android System" to 320dpi, it's him who FC the launcher, and probably who runs the top bar size.
I really like LG's stock launcher and the black line is a minus so I'm keeping it, for now. I'll change build.prop when CM10.1 is all working
I played around with this a few days ago and couldn't get anything to work well except a density of 400 (which also happens to be what the secondary density is set to in the build.prop). Everything seems to scale correctly with the stock applications except the camera. The camera has black on the side and bottom of the screen, but still works ok. On any other density, the launcher ended up being mostly unusable (seemed to convert to a 4x4 homescreen grid). I did not do anything with the xposed framework though, just direct edit of the build.prop file.

On any other density, the launcher ended up being mostly unusable (seemed to convert to a 4x4 homescreen grid). I did not do anything with the xposed framework though, just direct edit of the build.prop file.

That's the old way to do it, nowadays it's better to just edit everything with AppSettings, the build.prop is good just so you don't have to set every app to the desired density, but you can achieve all on the fly with xPosed.
@Kriggs : thanks ... really makes a huge difference
This is how it looks with my way 360 dpi (attachment).
I found a fix for the LG home launcher FC. OP updated.

Almost all good, 2 things got messed up though:
Wallpaper gets cropped, not live wallpaper though
Transparente top bar in pop-up menus
Also, keyboard letter appears small in 320, setting font scale to 150 gets all back to normal
afaik, playstore won't support for dpi value except 320 - 400 - 480
i use 400 dpi and all look fit for my eyes using nova launcher (won't fit with stock launcher)
Can you guys post some screenies of your home screen and what settings you used. I did this work around a few days ago and my launcher screens came out all screwie especially any custom icons or widgets changed in nova or holo launcher. For example a email icon would be oversized but only 1/4th of the icon would be displayed same for widgets

Download and flash the multi dpi play store from the apps and games section of xda, I use the inverted one.

Also to OP you know all you need to do is use a file explorer that uses root to navigate to /system/build.prop open it in a text editor mode and change the dpi to whatever. Just really seems like the long way to download 3 apps when you can do it with 1 and learn a little about Android in the process

Yeah, this is way too complicated for a 30 second process really. Just edit the stock build prop and reboot, all done.

Yes but then your LG camera does not line up properly with the new dpi, if you don't care about the camera then yes editing the build prop is all is needed. I have set mine to 400 dpi and the xposed module works great.

If you're like me, you probably find the XZ's default density of 480 makes items far too large and cuts out text. The Googl Pixel, which is also a 5.0" 1080p screen uses a 420dpi. To make your XZ the same:
* Enable developer settings
* Enable ADB over USB
* From a computer, with adb, type:
adb shell wm density 420
The change will be instant, though a reboot is recommended.

This is the greatest thing ever. Thanks heaps!
Any way to shrink the notification text to match? Cheers, mate!
Edit: a restart fixed it - all good! I found 400 to be perfect for me. Thanks again.
I GOT SCREENSHOTS!
The change takes effect immediately so watch your screen closely before pressing enter on terminal.
Reboot after change is still advised.

How does reducing the density make icons and text appear smaller? Shouldn't it do the opposite? How does this change affect the picture quality of the display (same, worse, better)?
Window Manager density isn't the same as device density in build.prop. There are awkward effects when developers don't use the WM density. Also, you rely on nodpi packages now.
Still, the side effects are rare and IMO the pros greatly outweigh the cons.

Thanks for this. However i noticed noughat has this functionality built in but it seems to only have 3 (Small to Large) settings, whereas the pixels phone have 5 (small to Largest).
Have sony been stupid and just reduced functionality?
There is actually a simpler way. .You can find the same in "Developer Options" on your device with Android 7.0 Nougat, just below the Animation Settings

460 is good 5 icon in Pixel launcher and looks good
I've set mine to 420dp and can have 5 icons per row on stock home launcher , looks loads better
You can alsow change the resolution without root
adb shell wm size 720x1280
adb shell wm density 320
now icon not small but some effects on battery usage
