Ok I'm rooted and prior to I had the OC where I ran thru terminal.
My question is do I need to wait until a sense UI kernel to be compiled or does it go by the type of hardware since its still technically a G2
Or can I continue using the vision_OC.ko file?

Check the development section, already there are two kernels which have OC. I flashed BaconBits through ClockWorkMod, works great!

Are you using sense UI?

I didnt want to start a new thread since this is already about OCing and is fairly new.
I used the old kernel for the temp root and had my phone OCed to 1.56ghz and it was very stable. I'm using the bacon bits now and want to do the same thing.
Second question is more advanced. Can voltage be modified on the baconbits kernel? I love OCing stuff and I'd love to see how far this phone will go.
What I'm asking for is a line I can edit in a file to add the speed my phone is stable at, or a string of commands for terminal.
Ok I installesd a new rom HOTSAUCE V.2
And I c on other forums tlking about kernels?
Is it nessasry to install one?
And what do they do?..
Sorry if I'm a noob. Just recently got my g2
Sent from my G2
You don't need to install a kernel because you already have one its included on all roms otherwise you wouldn't be able to use your phone. kernel is basically a leyer between hardware and your os .you can try different ones if you wanna oc or get a better battery life or wifi calling and so on .and you must make sure its compatible with your rom. also may I suggest you search for kernel in Wikipedia if you wanna get a better understanding of what is kernel and what it does.

I have flashed Virtuous 1.0.1, I would like to play a little with oveclocking ,as it is written in ROM description it support oveclocking.
I am looking for some guide about flashing kernel and oveclocking or if somebody could even describe it here I would really appreciate it.
Additional for confirmation, I've read there are 3 kernels for virtuous: standard, advanced and shipped from HTC (default in virtuous).
I would like to overclock to safe frq ,I've read somewhere it is 1GHz. Probably it would be sufficient to flash standard kernel.
Ok so coming back to question how to flash new kernel and overclock our pocket PCs?

From what you stated, it seems Virtuous has an OC kernel already, just download SetCPU from the Market and follow the prompts.

He had it deleted because xHausx posted the stock rooted ROM 1st... plus he wasnt feeling well.. there are the odex and de-odex versions up
thanks man....i should know this but I dont...whats the diffetence between the two? again ty
one more thing...im so confused I dont know where to start if I want to try this...im on konis e3 if that helps...again thanks, if u dont want to help and give a walk thru I understand

The deodexed version is themeable, the odex version has a slightly faster boot time and uses less space in system. That's the quick and dirty answer, anyway. If you want to modify it at all, flash the deodexed version, otherwise just flash the odexed version.
You're going to flash it the same way you'd flash any other rom. Follow the directions in the thread, I'm not sure if you'll need to flash the updated radios, etc. If you don't know how to flash a rom - I know you have a custom rom installed, but a lot of people have someone else root/flash for them - there should be a walkthrough floating around somewhere. If you need help or just want clarification, shoot me a pm. I have a fairly lengthy write up on everything to do with rooting/flashing/recovery/etc, I'd be happy to send you that or help you out.

The wimax, prl, and radio are optional; they will update what the are supposed to. You'll only brick your phone if you do a battery pull/battery dies during an update of the radio. You don't have to update any of those if you don't want to, but just wipe the cache and dalvik, then flash if you want to.
thank man...whats the benefit of updating those, which kernal should I use andwhats I hear its sense 1.0?
arent we on like 2.0 something?

Nothing really besides having an updated connection possibilities...PRI can affect your battery, but if its good, no need to change it. Yea, its sense 1.0, and there are sense 3.0 roms out there.
why would an upgrade downgrade like it did? whar the difference between 3 and 1¿

Update the Wimax radio it helps. For example at my house before the update I was not able to get any Wimax signal. But after the update I now get between one bar. Better then nothing I guess haha

Hi all,
I need to get tun on this ROM. The kernel the ROM comes with does not seem to have it. I am happy to keep using the current kernel but need the instructions and or files.
Thanks in advance

I don't quite understand you, but if you want to use a different kernel, have a look at the very first post of the ROM. There is the link to snq kernels.

The advise is sound. Look for a kernel which comes with tun module.

Thanks for the reply. I just want to get tun installed. I tried that link and tried the bravo-2.6.35.8-snq-111118-no2wcr kernel and I installed it ok but it did not work. Looks like my question has been solved in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21643850&postcount=12607 so I will just have to wait for that. Thanks for th replies. I hope the next kernel gets me a L3 tunnel with Junos
Try Runnymede AIO 5.0.1
